Fucking Stan McChrystal
By Larry Johnson on October 6, 2009 at 10:47 PM in Current Affairs
Stan McChrystal, the General now in charge of our military mission in Afghanistan, is a good man getting fucked by Washington politics. The good news is that he could care less about the politics. He is all about the mission. I am not a personal friend of the General but I have been in a position to watch him up close over the last 7 years, starting when he took command of the Joint Special Operations Command in September 2003.
Stan McChrystal is all about the mission. He commits himself body and soul to getting his men (and some women) into the field to find and kill the enemy. McChrystal could not pick me out of a lineup. But I was in Iraq under his command back in May of 2006. We walked pass each other a couple of times and exchanged head nods. I had the privilege of watching a man who thought first and foremost about the people he commanded and their ability to get the mission carried out. He was not a Washington political animal and he does not sit around and calculate what position he should take so he can wrangle a promotion down the line. I saw him repeatedly make sacrifices for his troops that most military officers are unwilling to make.
And now the fucking.
Stan McChrystal did not leak his assessment of Afghanistan. He simply did what a field commander is supposed to do–he provided unvarnished, clear advice to the Commander-in-Chief, which was intended only for Obama. Someone else leaked his report and subsequently put him in the trick box.
Stan McChrystal is not a Washington hack. He was not calculating that he could appear on 60 Minutes and then appear in London in order to ambush Obama. Nope. He had permission up the chain of command. No one raised an objection to him doing these appearances. And Stan McChrystal is not the type of man to stand up and lie when asked a direct question.
Now we have assholes, including Senator Jim Webb and NSC Director Jim Jones, doing their chickenshit best to smear McChrystal. Sorry boys, but just because you don’t like the message does not mean you get a free pass to smear the man.
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
This is why the military hates fucking politicians. Jim Webb served honorably in the Marine Corps. Jim Jones, likewise, had a distinguished career in the Marines. But these men are betraying Stan McChrystal. He’s given them the unvarnished bad news–you can’t succeed in Afghanistan without a significant increase in the number of troops. Where have we heard this before?
Generals tried to tell those morons, Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld the same thing about Iraq and they ignored him. Now we have an Obama General telling Obama what he may not want to hear but what he certainly needs to hear.
Attention men and women in the military–if you are counting on politicians to save your ass forget about it. The only ass they care about saving is their own. Meanwhile, you are expendable. Semper Fi!

I heard an interesting caller today on the talk box… the person identified himself as working in the JCS and that the reccommendation they had originally was over 100,000 troops. He stated that word came down that they had to get it under 50k troops.
Larry, please tell me these fools are NOT going to do a Rumsfield?
It ought to tell you something that they sacked the last commander in Afghanistan.
Ive an idea -ALL the militaries should pack up & go home on holiday & let the politicians go there & do the job they think should be done.
I would be with you on that one, but I keep thinking about the woman and children left there to defend themselves. I can’t get over it.
The women & children do not matter in Afghanistan society. Never have & never will. Check out the infant & mother mortality rates – absolutely base level -few countries are worse.
ironically this Women & children thing was what set the Mujadheen against the karmal govt in 79.
However the Muj liked little boys & this brought in the Taliban on a tide of disgust.
wow, thanks for the history update
hmm interesting indeed
very disappointed in WEbb (he was one of the last of my heroes) the blue dog I used to honor.
no one left (in Washington)
The Generals will do what they MUST and Obambi better buckle up & pay attention!
The women in Afghanistan want us to leave.
http://www.rawa.org/rawa/2009/09/27/afghan-women-bear-brunt-of-hypocritical-war-on-terror.html
I have seen this movie before, in the 60`s and 70`s.
Putin must be chagrined by the irony of it all. He won’t get to ’cause BO just well may do it for him.
I once sat in Dushanbe observing the USSR army get ready for departures across the border into afghan.
In reality we are back in 1979.
KARMA big time .
Gates: Political whore.
Rumsfeld: Political whore.
I’m sick of this shit. Either win the war or bring our men and women home.
My husband is in Iraq right now. US Marine as well as British Special forces. I knew NOTHING about the military until I met my husband.
And I know more about our fighting forces than the Commander in Chief! (And his America-hating wife).
McChrystal is the real deal, and we should respect him for his decisions, because HE IS THERE!
No wonder Obama has only talked to him once in 70 days.
Our Commander in Chief is a fucking COWARD.
Don’t get me going. I have a lot more to say, and both administrations PISS me off.
Liars and Losers.
I can only imagine how the CIA feels. Degraded. Dismissed.
Obama MUST be voted out of office. For the sake of this country.
How can he be both US Marine & British SAS?
Because he served the USA as a foreign national.
Look it up.
His father was a British Diplomat.
I wish you and your family well, Tammy.
People forget that soldiers cross borders to serve. Because Canada declared war on Germany ahead of the U.S. a lot of American pilots went up and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
I agree with you completely about McChrystal. He could not have spoken anywhere without the approval of higher ups. I sure hope Obama doesn’t hang this good man out to dry.
And good luck to your brave husband.
Yes Tammy your picked a keeper. I will be sending out good thoughts for your husbad and yourself too! God speed.
your = you*
Well you should know.
Brits get it.
Just make a decision. Are we in, or are we out, Mr. President?
Our men and women in harms way deserve a decision, Mr. President!
I met my husband before 9-11 but that event changed me and the world. And my Brit/Marine/SAS husband.
Make a decision, you wimpy Commander In Chief!
I hear you Tammy my brother went in at 16 as a boy soilder came out after serving for 28 yrs.
Isn’t it funny how you learn to respect the military when it’s close to home?
Like, oh, a relative, husband, friend?
Maybe Congress and the Senate should enlist.
Idiots, all of them.
Of course, since they are so all good at shooting off their mouths, they should be good at shooting guns.
No?
Oh well. Then they will die.
Good Riddance.
I met a young man today who was five days away from boot camp at Pendleton.
I think as first impressions go he was one of the finest young men my daughter has introduced me to.
I thanked him for service in advance.
Awesome Teak!
Richard F. Halliburton was an American and he volunteered for the RAF to fly bombers over the Mediterranean and protect future oil interest for family in Egypt, etc.
He was a true believer and signed up for the cause.
.
Reuters/New York/LondonGold surged to a record high above $1,040 per ounce yesterday, fuelled by a steadily falling US currency.
Obama cannot run a war and what you showed proves he cannot run an economy. The only thing he is capable of running is his mouth – but only with a teleprompter and cue cards.
My underlining point was Gates needs to get off the fence because financing this war is getting very expensive.
I agree on your points .
Yes, Harp has it right. This is deja vu all over again. But we don’t have to go back as far as the 60s-70s. We have the Bush/Rummy years to reference.
I swear to God, if I had my kids over there? I’d be tempted to hop a plane and drag them all home, brig or not.
I’ve quoted my profane [but common sense] grandmother before:
Piss or get off the damn pot!
If the mission is to win then send more troops via the General’s advice. And if this is just political diddling, a “face saving” moment? Then get our young men and women out of there and call it done!
I find this whole dance disgusting. Our kid’s lives are at stake. Does it get any more important than that?
I don’t think so.
I agree. We need the troops or we need to get out. Since either of those possibilities is unlikely, what do we do? Solutions?
Our troops do not deserve this. WTF is wrong with these clowns?
Even Code Pink is rethinking their call to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/1006/p06s10-wosc.html
Eff Code Pink — the ONLY & I mean only reason they are changing their mind about pulling out of Afghanistan is because it has become quite clear that if Obama does it will be bad for him politically. So NOW they pretend to be oh so concerned about the Afghani women (presumably while Bush was in office & Code Pink was screaming their heads off to get out of Afghanistan the Afghani women were A-Ok)
I heard some pundit say the last General was replaced because he wasn’t aggressive enough. And McChyrstal is supposedly now too agressive for telling his opinion publicly. Make up your mind Obama. And today on MSNBC, Senator Webb was yakking about how come McChrystal was in London giving a speech when everyone else of importance was in DC meeting to discuss Afghanistan. Sen. Webb asked why wasn’t McCrystal there? The implication being the General told Obama thanks for the invite but I’d rather be in London. Yah right, how unlikely is that scenario? That leads me to believe he was never invited to participate. Someone on Morning Joe should’ve asked him “Do you have proof McChrystal was even invited and declined to appear? It seems a 4 star General would attend if invited or ordered to attend a meetg by the President. So are you saying it’s more likely the General blew off a meeting he was supposed to attend or that the Obama Administration didn’t invite him in the first place so therefore he was free to do a speech in London instead”.
And I don’t know what the hell is happening, but Obamas poll numbers are up. WTF??? I guess the more incompetent you are, the better the American public likes you?
But reading, it looks like surveyed 1003 people. Wow, what a sample. I bet it wasn’t the same people they surveyed last month. I don’t see the economy, the war, the health care debate or anything else has improved in the last 30 days to warrant the increase in favorable ratings.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33198986/ns/politics-white_house/
I still don’t get how 1,000 people can represent 300 million. Yeah, statistics and all that, but how can these polls be really that accurate when they only sample people who happen to be home to answer a phone and allow themselves to be polled?
I also don’t trust the AP. They were in the tank for Obama and published outright lies about Hillary during the campaign. Remember how they pronounced that she had conceded when she hadn’t?
It can’t if the 1000 are hand picked, because the statistician has an underlying agenda.
It is like the ten trees out of all the trees on the planet that “proved” the “hockey stick”. Just as bogus. There is an underlying huge problem here. No, I am not saying it is just these polls, or just global warming. It is much worse. Our new world religion is “science”. That is our problem now.

Doesn’t the question half to be asked?
I hardly think a general would blow off a POTUS. That hasn’t happened in awhile (sorry for the long quote)
link
Harp, 60’s and 70’s? Naw, mate, I imagine it’s been going on since Sumerian times…
That historical quote seems extremely slanted and revisionist – source please?
I thought you were going to discuss how MacArthur dissed the President Harry Truman, and Truman fired him. That episode would seem more relevant to the present claims against McChrystal for a lot of people, although I don’t consider it similar.
Ellen D, I agree that it is a “point of view”.
and I had thought that he was fired as well.
It does show the disconnect (LJ used a different word) that can and has happened.
I always try to provide the link to what I cite… it says “link”
Thanks, Teak. Missed the link.
It’s not that Obams polls are up.It’s what polters of who needs to make it look goos as this fraud in our country is

I heard those poll numbers too. Hard to believe, considering more and more people are waking up. Who did they poll? I doubt it was random.
I thought he attended via tele hook up.
sorry, can’t watch passed Webb lying and smearing McChyrstal on the London speech. Apparently Webb had to swallow a deep load, because his face swelled up.
That was disgusting…and I didn’t watch the rest.
But yes, in a desperate attempt at a job, he ran for Senator, and if I remember correctly when he marketed, I mean wore his son’s boots every day on the campaign trail, he campaigned also in the bad Iraq war…got in and proceded voting for it each time.
Webb p!ssed off the left back then. Senators must love their 6 year terms. What a loser he became in the Senate. And that just crystalized his true character.
Yes, and remember he wasn’t a strong candidate. Had “macaucau” (sp?) not been uttered, he would not have won.
Just like Chicago where the poor in the projects froze to death waiting for Obama.
ugh….brutal….didn’t think about that in relation to this.
I watched a program on TV, not sure which channel, maybe CBS with Katy. It was after the 8 soldiers died holding a position that was to be abandoned the very next day due to our inability to hold the position. They showed the terrain surrounding these strategic positions that are being held by too few soldiers. How they are surrounded by steep hills that make them sitting ducks for whatever ambush may be planned. The report told how the original plan was to win over the villages near the soldiers so they would have allies in the field to help protection. Then it went on to show that due to our bombings with drones on suspected Taliban positions, we’ve ended up killing innocents and therefore lost any good will we had been counting on from the Afganistan people in the countryside. I think the bombings were mostly carried out by drones. The gist of the report showed our troops totally undermanned where they had been planted and the countryside littered with mountains from which the Taliban were able to come at us from all directions. Our soldiers appeared to be like sitting ducks sent on a suicide mission. You couldn’t help but feel the inadequacy of the manpower and support these soldiers must be experiencing. I think by now its been shown that maybe Bush was correct when he said we must fight them over there, lest we fight them over here. If Obama is committed, then provide the soldiers and equipment to get the job done now, before we lose too many good men/women. Shit or get off the pot.
I don’t see the memorials and death counts on the news any longer. I don’t see the news coverage and potilicians running over there for their photo ops since they don’t have the protection of the Green Zone and the cash that flowed like water in Iraq.
Same fate as the “advisers” sent out with ARVN troops.
Thanks, Glenn. I was wondering this morning while watching CNN who chose that base location.
Throughout history soldiers have died when their commanders have marched them into narrow passes and valleys where the enemy could take the high ground and pick them off.
Even in the Civil War. Gettyburg was won by the North because they took the high ground – Little Round Top. And that changed the course of the war.
The Taliban knows full well that the POTUS ordered all air-strikes to be curtailed in order to minimize “civilian” casualties. This has led to an increase of casualties to U.S. personnel by the order of 10 since this policy has been implemented. our bravest are now sitting ducks over there. According to the Taliban all casualties are ‘civilian” and President Obama has bought their propaganda lock, stock and barrel! This is a disgrace and it must end now! Our troops not only need additional support they also need a commander in chief who understands what the word VICTORY means!
It’s absolutely disgusting what Obama and the dems are doing to General McCrystal and to our brave young men and women in Afghanistan. What happened to the party and the president who were supposed to bring us change? The labels have changed but the product is still the same – lies, distortions, fraud, cronyism, and a government in Washington that still cares more about themselves than the people they are supposed to be serving.
Obama mum on adding more troops in Afghanistan.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091007/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_us_afghanistan
NPR said the White House says Obama will make his decision “at the end of the month” – it’s Oct 7!
Even Lara Logan on the Colbert Report last night was saying the U.S. cannot be scene as wavering – whatever their decision – or Taliban/Al Quaeda will take over again.
People are screaming in the most polite way that Obama needs to make a decision.
This President WANTS our troops to die.
He disgusts me.
My neighbor has TWO sons who are scheduled to go to Afghanistan in the next six months. For WHAT?
Make a decision, Mr. Panty Waist.
There’s a emerging narrative about Obama..
Health care = Let Congress do it…. zero input from the WH.
War = Let the generals decide ….. zero input from WH.
Economy = Let Tammy decide …. zero input from the WH.
Everything about Obama is nothing but smoke screen. What a fraud.
Hey, don’t you remenber, as an Il. state senator Mr. Berry Soetoro voted over 140 tims, present!
A lazy one, at that. Remember the vacations during the campaign?
Here I thought Obama made it clear during the primary this was the good war.
What is his probelm? He talked up putting more troops in for months on end. Stole the more NATO coordination argument from McCain as well as placing a bulls-eye on Pakistan during the election. And Obama will suffer in 2012 if the perception grows even more that we are losing. Since Bush gave it to him in better shape than now.
So what does he have to lose by keeping his word on this front?
Is he having a probelm trying to Chicago ‘pay to play’ it? Does Chicago have a Halliburton type company he is trying to position for Afghanistan?
I am puzzled on this one. All the other stuff I expected Obama to turn his positions after the election. Afghanistan wasn’t one of them since the military wasn’t his thing. So I expected, he would actually leave it to the experts like he campaigned on.
And Webb what a jerk…like he doesn’t understand the chain of command. He just stated that the Gen was betraying his….during war no less. wtf!
Here is Richard Cohen at WashPo today:
But the ultimate in realism is for the president to gauge himself and who he is: Does he have the stomach and commitment for what is likely to continue to be an unpopular war? Will he send additional troops, but hedge by not sending enough — so that the dying will be in vain? What does he believe, and will he ask Americans to die for it? Only he knows the answers to these questions. But based on his zigzagging so far and the suggestion from the Copenhagen trip that the somber seriousness of the presidency has yet to sink in, we have reason to wonder.
BO has no core convictions. He is not a “decider.”
There are two command principles which are in conflict here. They are:
1. The commander in chief is obliged to support the field commander he selects and places for a theater of operations where American lives are at stake. This means he must listen to his recommendations, consider them and provide timely decisions. Note: by all appearances, Mr. Obama, (aka Jack Squat) has failed to fulfill his obligations in this respect.
2. The field commander is obliged to adhere to the chain of command, to advise the president on the military aspects of the operation just as others will address the political, economic and foreign policy ramifications. Note: if Mr. Obama (aka Jack Squat) refuses to provide timely a decision on a matter and procrastination is likely to cause a loss of American lives, then it is incumbent upon the field commander to force the issue, but only when all else fails. As Arleigh Burke once observed any commander who does not exceed his orders when circumstances warrant is not worth much to the sailors in his command.
For those who are privy to the inside story, the military had to force a highly reluctant Obama (aka Jack Squat) to make a decision in that case as well.
It would be far easier to assess the situation here objectively if we had an honest and qualified president rather than the incompetent soros shill who is in there now. If we had a legitimate president, then most of us would agree that although the military aspect of our Afghanistan operation is critical, it is not the only consideration. There is the cost of the operation, the effect upon foreign policy, the nation building obligations, the political viability of the Afghan regime, the limits of public support over the long term. In addition, there is the lives of American soldiers, the risk of a failed state in the case of Pakistan, al Quaeda and the like. If we had a legitimate president, who had a grasp of such issues instead of a Chicago pol, who was not a narcissitic but a patriotic American then it would be easier to see this thing in context.
If things were different they would not be the same.
Yes. Absolutely. Totally agree.
And I have to say, having spent some time in the USAF in a support position, not a combat position, that I believe characterizing McChrystal as “mission-oriented” rather than a political animal is no defense of him at all….to the contrary.
I recall working with a Colonel, one of those bellowing types, who took exception to anyone trying to impose asbestos safety standards on his project. Those safety standards would interfere with his “mission” which was to demolish an old building at a certain cost by a certain date. Fortunately, for the poor, expendable civilians doing the actual work, his superior officers had more sense and could see the bigger picture.
Our soldiers deserve our support; nevertheless, they are just as human as the rest of us.
For those who are privy to the inside story, the military had to force a highly reluctant Obama (aka Jack Squat) to make a decision in that case as well
The above was in reference to the pirate episode.
wbboei, agreed. I see that he must wait for Soros’s decisions and Soros’s according to his son has to feel everything in his bones before making a decision. So what we are waiting for is Soro’s backache to return.
[...] will be impacted by any decisions made. But one thing I do want to point out. Is that there are those who gets it. Who know where the problem is, and not afraid to say it and stand there ground. [...]
We military families know this, and honestly didn’t expect any better from this group of fools either. Leave the ropes off McChrystal’s hands you ninny’s so he can do his job for his troops. My soldiers don’t pay any attention to what comes out of the mouths of the washington whores; with the exception of McCain and believe it or not Senator Lyndsay Graham. My son tells me he doesn’t watch the news; he tried when he got back home, just couldn’t believe the lack of coverage, and when there was coverage, what pure bullshit it was.
Civilians can’t get their head around, what it takes for our troops and ex-military know they are selling them out the minute they start second guessing a good command. Why I mention McCain and Graham is because they have bothered year after year to monitor and engage the troops while they are in the field. Making at least a real attempt to understand and communicate what is being done and what is needed without getting in the way of the command.
Meanwhile the ninnies in the House are already creating a bill to block further funding; you have to wonder why is it important to hamper what is needed for wars that have gone on way too long, by policing by paycheck, when the same caution and care isn’t given on the civilian side say for the health care reform bill, or funding to ACORN? This may be over simplification but I am sure it has mostly to do with political expediency and saving their own asses. Again as Larry said: if you are counting on politicians to save your ass forget about it. The only ass they care about saving is their own. If these whores in D.C. will do this knowingly to our military, I am sure it is doesn’t cause them to lose a moments sleep to do it to civilians here at home either. As long as they save their own hides(their pay increases, their benefits, their homes, their kids education, their agenda , their party) they will not consider us as the group being “Americans” as a whole. We only are of use as long as they can use any of us.
Hooah! McChrystal! Hang tough, stand tall. Stand. Our men and women need your resolve.
I agree with Peggy Sue’s grandmother, you don’t sit on the pot without finishing the job.
But, I do know as a simple concerned citizen who does not have a relative at this point in the military that if my sons were younger, I would kidnap them and hold them hostage rather than allow them to serve under this current incompetent POTUS.
Fire bomb all the opium crops.
No money, no insurgency.
Of course most of those crops are in the British controlled areas.
Hmmmmmmm.
Does Obama have the backbone?
Larry, you confirmed what I sensed about Gen. McChrystal. After 30 years of working in the corporate world I’ve learned to differentiate between leaders and butt-snorkelers. My dislike of Obama from the start was because he’s the latter. Let’s hope he does the right thing here.
But if he is the latter, whose butt is higher than his?
Whose butt is higher than his? The Chinese, Iranian, Russian, Saudi governments – just for starters. Also, the voters and all of the big money donors he still needs to bankroll his campaign.
O-overrated
B-baffled
A-arrogant
M-manipulative
A-affected
you forgot to mention that he is our first LACK president
I can’t imagine anything worse than being a man who doesn’t give a fig about politics working for Barack Obama.
What is this compulsion of recent presidents to throw their generals under the bus? It must be a result of a burning desire to blame the troops for their own incompetence.
Those poll numbers baffle me, too. I was positive they’d take a nose-dive after that god-awful performance by the Obamas in Copenhagen. The Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll actually went up a couple of points.
Maybe when even more Americans die in Afghanistan we’ll see those numbers go down. {sigh}
Anyway, thanks for the assessment of McChrystal, Larry. He sounds like a good man in a really bad place.
I also do not understand why Jack Squat poll numbers went up. WHY? Who are they polling? ACORN. Even CNN and NBC were talking about ACORN and Jack Squats prop with the Dr’s.
Maybe someone can interview Rasmussen on how they conduct polls.
Larry, can you tell me who would be responsible for the decision to maintain Camp Keating? From the descriptions we read it was patently untenable. The head that ought to roll is the one that insisted it be kept active.
I expect someone is going to try the tired excuse that they needed a “withdrawal plan”. There were approximately fifty troops left at Camp Keating when last week’s attack occurred. How difficult can it be to remove fifty men to safety when it’s clear they are sitting ducks?
I was told the other day by someone in that the Chicago Machine did not have the bench to fill the cabinet with its own people so in certain cases they relied on Clinton people, but the people we have a czars are Chicago acolytes and some of them would end up in the cabinet if Squat and the dark movers behind him, i.e. Soros (who now runs the Dimocratic Party despite his Nazi past as revealed on 60 Minutes 2/20/98, and his history of tanking half a dozen national economies through his speculative practices during the past twenty years), and Imelt (who runs controls nbc and msnbc, whom Putin saw personally right after Obama caved on the missile defense program0– Casey Stengel used to say–look it up)and Jeffrey Sachs get their way. If that is true then it lends additonal ugency to vetting them now, because in that case they will not be sitting there like potted plants, but laying the grondwork for what they will do to wreck this country when and if they rise to cabinet level. In fact, now they can operate behind the scenes.
Oh Dear! What’s a controlled puppet to do? The coporate controlled media is a major part of this train wreak.
A rousing, double decker thank you Larry!
I have been sick to my stomach watching the attempts to vilify Gen. McChrystal.
It is amazing to watch the changing opinions of legislators and advisors, once their own ass is on the line!
I have asked myself WHY anyone would enter the military in this atmosphere…thank God, so many still do.
I did not expect to see the same betrayals of our troops as I saw during Vietnam, but once again they are being hung out to dry (die)!
Why don’t you ask all the men and women who have been out of work for so long that they are desperate for anything that will provide for their kids/spouse?
While I am a liberal and voted for Obama and feel that there are plenty of people to point at as being at fault, Obama is running out of excuses for why his economic recovery is jobless, just like Bush’s tended towards.
FTA:
So, which is it, Mr. Johnson? Is Gen. McChrystal an uncalculating straight-shooter that was forced to appear on those shows, or did he plan on doing them first, and of course “…had permission up the chain of command.”?
As usual, Larry blunt and no bullshit from you. I appreciate the candor and honesty. It is a fu—– disgrace. We are losing lives over there while OBAMA fiddles…..
Well, I imagine if BOT pulls the rug on this fine General he will resign. Unfortunately, that is no help to our men and women serving in that cesspool.
With political leaders like this we don’t need any enemies as the enemy is us.
Mr Obama (aka Jack Squat) would be well served to bring General McChrystal to Washington and let him appear before Congress, rather than imposing a gag rule and handling everything in secrecy. Obamalie 933,248 was that his administration would practice transparency. Has Obama ever told the truth about anything in his life? I mean ever? The man is pathological.
I realize the sensitivity of the issue, but the American people need to hear the truth from someone they can trust, rather than another lie from a Chicago poll who never let a little thing like the truth stand in the way of self aggrandizement, and serving his corporate handlers at the expense of constituents, through Rezko arrangements.
This from the guy who thought the surge was a bad idea in Iraq, and wouldn’t ever admit he was wrong….
What do people expect from a guy who voted present 140 times, and just offers up empty rhetoric.
All this was obvious in the primary… But people voted for him anyway. Now he is playing with peoples lives. Present just doesn’t work anymore.
Sarah Palin: It is the time to act as a Commander-in-Chief.”
Good for her. Seems like the one is just sitting there, looking into the headlights, waiting to somehow “know” what to do.
Wow …. this is the money quote for me:
“Now is not the time for cold feet, second thoughts, or indecision — it is the time to act as commander-in-chief and approve the troops so clearly needed in Afghanistan.”
You may have other disagreements with him, but John McCain would have supported our troops and generals

Look at the picture at the top of that article. Notice who is doing the talking. Wasn’t it supposed to be the other way around?
You may find it interesting that msnbc would present Mike Barnicle as an expert on Afghanistan, and the McChrystal controversy. Is this an imposter, or is perchance the same Mike Barnacle who was fired from the Boston Globe for publishing stories which had no basis in fact. Some might think it was unseemly for a network to rely on the insights of a proven liar, and broadcast them to the public under their fcc license, but being a great admirer of msnbc, imelt and soros myself, and knowing that the simple act of lying is as nothing compared to what they do, I really couldn’t comment.
Why this petty, impotent, worm-like campaign to undermine McChrystal? Why doesn’t the C-in-C just make a decision, yes or no to McChrystal’s trop request?
Team Obama looks like a bowl of squirming worms. I say feed them to the fishes on election day.

It is well past time to make a decision. Since Obama went on and on about Afghanistan during the primaries and general election, you would think he’s had more than enough time to study the situation and develop a long range plan.
He’s setting himself up for a detractor to start a casualty count from the time of the request for more troops asking just how many more troops need to die before the Commander-in-Chief makes up his mind (hopefully he make this decision faster than the one about which dog to buy for his girls).

“Hello? It’s who? Stan McChrystal? You mean the General over in Afghanistan? Do you know what time it is? It’s 3 a.m. in the morning! How in the heck did you get this number anyway? You need what? How many? You’d better hope this is just a bad dream I’m having. Have you ever heard of the chain of command, General? What time is it over there anyway? I’ll tell you what, I’m gonna think about it. I’m going to see what some other folks have to say about this. Okay, now you take care, General. And don’t you EVER call me here again.”
Click.
“What was that about?”
“Nothing important. We’ve got to see about getting this number changed.”
You nailed it oowawa, you know I bet he breaks out in a sweat every time the phone rings.
Katmoon, I am so disgusted by this. If the General in command is yelling “Help! Help!” saying “Well, I don’t know . . . I need a few weeks to think about this” should not be an option. He’s had more than a few weeks already to think about this; he was a Senator, right? My opinion: either support the troops wholeheartedly, or get them out, shrug your shoulders, and say “Oh well!” This cannot be done half-way. You cannot leave unsupported troops to face attack.
I know, it makes me crazy and sick to my stomach, I know what those families of troops in country are going through right now. For God’s sake, there must be a way to “do”, and stop the damned posturing. This is no different in my eyes than delayed help for a disaster.
The right wants the general to have what he needs. The left wants the general to come home. Obama wants to be loved by everybody. So as soon as he finds the middle he will split the middle. The problem is we have been there and done that in the 1960’s. The problem is there is a choice to be made… one or the other seems plausible. Make a decision. But he can’t do that. So, this will probably mean the Vietnamization of Afghanistan. Wars kill people, but politics kills more people. Especially when wars become political.

well whtja spect from our present of the United States
Pretty darn creative.
Obama can not even execute a proper military salute to the ground crew that meet him as he leaves AF 1 or Marine 1. You expect him to execute a war? You expect him to be a CIC? What are you drinking? Smoking? Injecting?
Well, I should have known the word b a s t a r d would not get through the resident shredder. Can an administrator kindly remove my comment from its clutches?
I couldn’t have expressed it better. These bastard politicians need to shut their collective pie-holes, listen up when the general speaks, and give him what he needs. End of discussion. This man needs our support.
Let me tell you, Obama has a hate for the military..If Stanley McCrystal is smart he and Petraus should hand in their resignation papers and tell Obama to go F……….k himself..It is difficult for them, because they are not political animals, but before he fires them, they should leave, and the public will side with them. No one likes war, but when you see young boys dying for no reason in AFghanistan and our administration doesn’t give a fig about them, then what is the use of staying on? He is going to throw McCrystal under the bus anyway…resign and embarrass him..I would love to see this.
