FYI . . .

NEW YORK (AP) - Yankees manager Joe Girardi benched slumping outfielder Nick Swisher for Game 2 of the World Series on Thursday night and again put Jose Molina behind the plate to catch A.J. Burnett.

Philadelphia also had a different lineup. Raul Ibanez moved from designated hitter to left field and Matt Stairs was the DH.

Jerry Hairston Jr. replaced Swisher in right and was batting seventh. Hairston is 10 for 27 in his career against Phillies starter Pedro Martinez, but hasn't faced him since 2004. It also was Hairston's first start in right since July 21.

Ordinarily I don't watch baseball, I love college football and hoops and the Tour de France--HOWEVER I did watch the game last night and must say Cliff Lee and Chase Utley are HOT! Am looking forward to watching more Phillies!

I'm happy for Cliff Lee, loved him here in Cleveland. Glad to see him pitching so well in the postseason.

I think this series is going at least 6 games. Should be a good series. I think the Yankees take Game 2.

I am not trying to pick a fight over this world series. If people think Cliff Lee is arrogant, maybe that is what they see. Myself, I am so thrilled that the Phillies acqired a pitcher like Lee, that I may be overlooking his arrogance. I know that I will never see my team win as many WSC as the Yankees, but for them to go to the series 2 years in a row is almost as close for me. If they win 2 years in a row, it will be a little piece of Heaven for me, if not I will still love them. To me, they will still be number 1, as I am sure all fans feel about their favorite team. And that is as it should be.

The bullpen took us out of the game. Cliff Lee pitched brilliantly and had the Yankee lineup completely off balance. It was up to the bullpen, however, too keep us in the game . . . and they didn't. Maybe too young and inexperienced?

In regard to Sandy's comment above, Cliff Lee is an awesome pitcher, BUT he is a arrogant. He came off very smug in his post-game interview with Ken Rosenthal.

Tonight is a must win. Girardi should replace Hinske for Matsui and Gardener for Swisher.

Aww, the Yankees lost, so sad. You would think that a team that pays it's top three players more than the total payroll that all of the other MLB teams pay for their entire squad, could slip a few million to the officials to sort of, call the game differently. Just tossin' out possibilities :)
Go Phillies!

Sigh...if it is hard for us imagine people who live there.

"But I'm not going to get caught up in the numbers. The other day, Phillies outfielder Jayson Werth called me the "cathedral of baseball."

He had that right."

I hope the series goes all seven games. Both cities need the money and we need some good baseball to take our minds off many things.

Just a question for the Yankees fans.

Do you guys like the new stadium? We really caught first sight of it with the playoffs. It seems to be missing something in the tv translation.

Not sure if that makes sense.

But having watched a lot of Yankee games in the old stadium....I miss it.
