Thanks for the pics RRR Amy! I can hear the soft gush of pluff mud as I venture out for oysters, I smell the sulfur, and I can see the slight grey tuft of fur on the back of a racoon asleep in the crown of a palmetto. I can also hear the resonance of the drink buying bell at the Paris Island officers club, and the pleasing thwack of a golf ball on the sweet spot of a four iron at Sea Pines. And I can taste a tall cool Bloody Maria while swinging in a hammock on Pawleys Is.

Hey RRR Amy, does it sound like I’m familiar with your neighborhood?

I am driving down to Florida for Thanksgiving by “Le chemin des ecoliers” to find a warmer spot I would relocate to. NJ is really too COLD. I want to be a half-back.

You mentioned how it helped when you had to deal with last year’s insanity. Well, I’d like to remind everyone that we’ve survived a year that I personally never thought I could. In spite of what happened we haven’t lost our ability to see the light at the end of that Dem tunnel.

I tell you, living here really helped during the most difficult times of the election – huh, I guess that was most of it (the highlights, obviously, all of Hillary’s big wins). Being able to go outside, breathe deeply, watch the birds soaring, and sometimes walking near the house (if you haven’t seen a great egret up close, they are TALL, maybe 4 ft? They like to hunt for the little lizards around here), listening to the sounds of the marsh, all of that soothed my soul.

It does so now, too.

LOL – I can really appreciate his POV. I grew up where my great-grandfather had his dairy farm, and watched a huge shopping mall get built on one of his old pastures. Where once there were cows ended up being a parking lot, a la Joni Mitchell’s song…After having lived in several big cities, I was all too ready to have the space I had when I was a kid.

I woke up to warm temps and finally full sun after a month of cold, rainy weather.
The sun was sparkling on the lake like diamonds from my bedroom french doors. I just let it be this weekend and soaked in the sun, and the sounds of nature. Magical.

I too thought how wonderful to live in this place by the water, finally realized my dream!
