It’s Been a [BLANK] Year
By Pat Racimora on November 4, 2009 at 1:30 PM in Current Affairs, President Barack Obama
It’s been exactly a year since Barack Obama was elected President. In only one word, describe how you feel today.
A whole year? In some ways it seems like forever, I guess because I have been waiting for this Democratic Congress and President to show they really care for us rather than only those who have far more than they would ever need. In other ways it seems like yesterday for the same reason—too little has been done, too few promises kept.
The
New York Times has given us all an opportunity to characterize in a single word how we are feeling about the election one year later. (I bet you can guess what one I selected!)
Go in and make our little voices heard–lots of little voices are about all we have to work with. There is only a small window of time to participate here. (I suggest selecting one from their list as these are more likely to show up in the final talley.)
Regardless of whether you get into the NY Times, what’s YOUR word?

Betrayed is right! (But what else did I expect?)
DISTRUSTFUL
This YEAR has been a WAKE UP CALL!
Like a SHOT of Expresso on an EMPTY stomach!
ps. Dear Laura, I’d like to apologize to you for all of the bad things I have said about your husband! I had no idea it could be this much worse. And YOU are a class act.
I agree, one thing is apparent, Laura is a lady - and made George a better man — she was good for America, all of us.
Frightened.
(We have terrible problems but only incompetent jokers in charge.)
Depressed.
Bush= Doesn’t know why he started a war.
Obama = Doesn’t know how to end a war.
Two faces of the same coin.
amen to that. Obobo hasn’t a clue.
War? Are we having a war? Let me just finish up this golf game, and I’ll look into that…
Vindicated! Knew he was trouble from day one in Primaries.
Amen sister! We knew this inexperienced junior Senator was only a puppet long before the November tragedy of last year. One year down, three to go.
exactly waht I was thinking. VINDICATED.
Or if I can’t have that work, then — Validated.
I knew from the get-go there was nothing to Obama. And I was right.
I also feel vindicated.
But for the NY Times, I chose “disgusted” as there’s no way to explain how or why I feel vindicated.
I’ll go with vindicated-ish. I knew what we were getting, but I want to see a whole lot more waking up from the KADs in this country.
READY (as in “ready to move to a third world country that calls itself exactly that instead of continuing a charade)
Apprehensive
Pissed!
Add me to this column.
I’m pissed!
Unemployed
Disgusted.
Yep..Disgusted!
Second that.
I’m also furious-at bots of all stripes, the Obamacratic Party, the 69,000,000 who failed to do any homework at all, the owners of That One and his 2-Dumb Crew. You name it.
…the DNC, the Rules Committee, msm…
angry and furious
vindicated.
SAD
I choose, “Heavy” year.
Obama’s new word for not accomplishing anything is that he is “weighing” his options. Why hasn’t Obama filled all these job opennings? He’s “weighing” his options. Why hasn’t Obama replied on McChrystals request? “He’s weighing” his options.
Why is obama losing weight? Because he just keeps adding more weight on to his plate and not accomplshing getting a thing off of it.
And yes, we feel the weight of Obama’s heavy weighing.
Times are Heavy as we wait Obama’s weighing.
We will all become alcoholics if “weighing” becomes the new word.
Losing weight? No, it something else… but then, there are no medical records, only a letter from his doctor saying ‘he’s ok to run for Pres’ — where are the records? smoke & mirrors
Challenging…
…the D’s submission of BO’s name to state election officials to print on the general election ballot; and voters to understand the fraud - eliminating the floor roll call vote at the Convention to bury the votes from vote binding states - that got him there.
I am still challenging the voters to confront this fraud.
(Listen at 9:00 tonight, http://www.blogtalkradio.com/drkate)
Betrayed. Doubtful. Sad.
petrified
My word for 2009 is Mutinous.
Vindicated
Revolutionary.
Love it!
but that depends on what ‘it’ is — seems like we heard that before
It has to be “vindicated”. And also “angry”
I had little to no expectation that Obama had what it takes to do a good job, and I knew he was lying all along, so I can’t feel “betrayed”.
“Angry” because we were so close to having so much more with Hillary.
I guess we won’t be singing these songs anymore then:

DISCOMBOBULATED!
Kafkaesque
Exhausted
Galvanized
Today I saw this on the bumper of a car parked outside my office. “Vote Obama & Biden” sticker was partially covered by a new sticker. It says, ” It’S BEEN LOVELY, BUT I HAVE TO SCREAM NOW”
Another Obot finally saw the light. What a bunch of clueless Obamarons.
Wahoo! Love it. Saw this one:
One Big A*ss Mistake, America
Betrayed
Quick?
2009 has gone by in a rush. A blur of events. It’s January. Then suddenly it’s November…
Sleeveless!
(to a disembodied arm, this is a serious condition)
ROFL! hee-Here are some happy ones for you Onofre:
Sinewy
Toned
Strong
Decorated
Nurturing
Branch
Bough
Resilient
Tattooed!
Terrified???
Independent!
Exonerated! The people who ridiculed me for knowing what Obama truly was are having second thoughts and those who aren’t are awfully quiet about him these days. What goes around comes around.
In one word how do I feel? How bout 3? Like a racist.
Weary (as in weary over worry of our soldiers).
Obamaphile-ophobic- as in having an aversion to over zealous O supporters.
Stuck (as in the Middle with you, waiting for another 3 years to pass, and knowing we had better get the balance back in the political system, where the people have a voice again.)
Unemployed (so happy I went to college this late in life)
Invisible (as in a woman over 50)
Educated (I now unfortunately know what the term “tea-bagging” means)
Great choices, Katmoon. Well done. And I, too, could have gone the rest of my lifetime without knowing what tea-bagging was! That’s just another reason it was a loss-of-innocence year for me. Lost my faith that the election process would work the way it should, that people would do the right thing, that nobody could really cheat their way into the White House, that my party was the one that was compassionate, that Ds had respect for women, that my voice mattered, that I could reason with bots. The list goes on, but I’m sure you understand.
PUMA
exasperating
Frustrating.
Still trying to explain how dangerous Mr. O and his policies and associates are to those who are under his spell, and getting little results.
On Tuesday Nov. 3, Relieved - That some independents woke up from the dead and sent a message to those in power - get the economy back on track or you’re going home!!!
From this Dem, the word is “betrayed.” The same way I felt during and after the 2008 primary.
Thanks for the NYT tip, Pat. I registered my vote.
Frustrated
absconditus
What does that mean, Teakwood?
latin for “hidden, concealed”, Like Yodi on the planet Dagobah.
.
Gynotikolobomassophile
I’m afraid to guess, especially when a word begins with Gyno…
It’s relatively harmless. It’s a person that enjoys nibbling women’s earlobes. I’m not sure how it applies to this thread, I just like the word.
Wonderful word meaning!
Well there’s a lot of ear lobe to nibble!
LOL,
periorbital twitches, and protracted staring episodes
ROLF!
Try this one - defenestrated.
I used that word on the banner that we had on our Rugby team’s homecoming float (A big red truck with a keg on board) when our football team was going to play the Citadel Bulldogs. “Defenestrate The Dogs” it read, and it caused much head scratching from the crowd. They didn’t know whether to be offended or to feign understanding. That was 30 years ago.
Oculogyric (My reaction when I read bot nonsense)
“RELIEVED” that people are finally waking up and seeing this fakir-in-chief for the snake oil salesman he really is. also “HOPEFUL” that in 2012 we can get rid of him before he does a lot more damage to america.
Determined…to ride it out and throw BO out!
antisocialist
Love your name.
registered Democrat since 1963 — only saving grace is I did not vote for Carter, Gore, or Obama.
Than you — registered Democrat since 1963 — only saving grace is I did not vote for Carter, Gore, or Obama.
I put “disgusted” on the NYT page.
I was reading about Obummer’s half-brother this morning. Now HE is the sort of person that one could vote for..seriously. Here are his academic creds..described amusingly by the Post as “as lofty as his brother’s”…
Now those degrees look to me to be a lot more than Obummer ever managed to do in school. And I bet his brother didn’t get the help he did either. And this is what he has been doing with his life..MUCH more than “community organizer”.
Too bad he isn’t a natural born citizen…he would have made a better president than his half-brother. Actually seems to give a damn about someone other than himself. Here is the story link.

evil
bulldozed
Oh! That’s the one!
FURIOUS
Betrayed and Angry. It is no wonder that he had no influence in the Virginia and NJ governor’s races. Most of his votes came from hero-worship. Other Democrats don’t qualify as heros to them.
Weary
Weary of his constant blathering
Ill
If I see that jug-eared dope just one more time on the teevee, I’m going to be ill.
Stunned
I’m stunned that anyone would have voted for such a neophyte loser.
Mad
I’m as mad as hell and I’m going to personally work against every Democrat in my home state and I’ll do it for free.
This past year has left me speechless.
in a word: Impissiated
Regarding NY-23,
no one seems to be discussing the fact that this election only covers the
one year,
the time left over from a previous elected’s term.
Owens will have to run for this seat again in 2010, and I am not alone in hoping Hoffman will remain on board.
“One three letter word, J.O.B.S!” –Joe Biden–
LOL! Sounds like a Bushism.
Nah, I think the gaffe baton has been officially passed to Biden. Henceforth, boneheaded verbal mishaps should be called Joe-blunders or Bidenisms.
Outraged !~
I feel helpless, hopeless, and very afraid for my country.
Disgusted with both parties.
Disgusted with this pathetic president.
Disgusted with the policies.
Hopeless. Bailouts, stimulus, spending, printing, re-inflating the bubble: we are in worse shape than ever.
concerned
Vengeful
As in merciless revenge on any Obot that crosses my path.
Proud
Of our girl, Hilary. Can you imagine what SHE could have accomplished in one year?
Damn. Now add Depressed
