CNN: WH says Pentagon has its own agenda in Afghanistan; bullying kids at Halloween and Tingleguy

(Bumped up from earlier Wednesday.)

1) CNN reports today that the WH is refuting claims by CBS and the AP that Obama has tentatively decided to send 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

The statement was issued shortly after CBS News’ veteran Pentagon Correspondent David Martin reported that Obama has “tentatively decided” to send four more combat brigades to Afghanistan and several thousand more support troops starting early next year. That would bring the total number of new troops to close to the 40,000 figure originally requested by Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

Two other senior administration officials flatly told CNN that the CBS report and other similar speculation is false. The Associated Press reported Monday that Obama is “nearing a decision to add tens of thousands more forces to Afghanistan, though not quite the 40,000 sought [by] his top general there.”

The two senior administration officials suggested the information is being leaked by Pentagon sources who are trying to box Obama in by setting public expectations that he will send close to 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan as McChrystal requested.

“People at the Pentagon are trying to force a certain outcome,” one of the senior administration officials told CNN.

What’s going on? Obviously CBS and AP thought they had a solid story. Where did they get it? The WH says the Pentagon. But do you believe that? Honestly, it’s hard to say. Regardless of where the story originated and what the truth of it is at this point, the argument between the WH and the Pentagon is smack dab in the public sphere. Soooooo reassuring.

Also, Obama is clearly in no hurry to decide.

Obama is scheduled to return from Asia on Friday November 20 after stops in Japan, Singapore, China, and South Korea. Officials have suggested the President could announce a troop decision sometime shortly before or after Thanksgiving, though Gibbs has vaguely said the decision will be revealed in “coming weeks” so as not to be pinned down.

“Pinned down.” BO HATES being pinned down. On anything. But that also means he stands for little.

2) Breitbart at Biggovernment posted a video of Code Pink protesters during the WH Halloween party. Code Pink doesn’t really bother me much. They like publicity and push the envelope during their protests, but whatever.

What makes this interesting is the kids waiting to get to the WH Halloween party were from military families. Code Pink was doing its obnoxious best to to connect Halloween to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq - to military children. On purpose.

Dressed as ‘zombie soldiers’ killed in combat, ‘ghosts of war victims,’ witches and healthcare fairies, members of Code Pink menacingly paraded in front of a captive audience of children one block from the White House, who waited along the sidewalk in front of Decatur House just off Lafayette Park for a Halloween party hosted by President Obama.

Last Saturday, the President hosted several hundred military families for trick or treating. Also invited were children of White House staff and about 2000 children from eleven D.C. area elementary schools.
In a press release published at their website, key Obama ally Code Pink  – a group co-founded by one of Obama’s top funders Jodie Evans, announced they were targeting military families . . . by conducting a macabre protest of the war in Afghanistan as the families waited in line to enter the White House grounds.
———

Dressed in fatigues with a bloody bandage wrapped around her head, Benjamin [co-founder of Code Pink] loudly moaned as she emoted being a ‘zombie soldier’, while holding a black cut-out of a rifle and wearing a pink sign that read, “The White House is haunted by the ghosts of Bush’s war.”

Even the Reuters reporter was appalled and used the word “taunting” in his photograph caption to describe what the Code Pink “ladies” were doing to the children. Later, Reuters posted a blog entry defending its word choice.

Code Pink created a rather lame (seriously, it’s NOT great) video of their efforts to get to mom and dad through the kids, behavior that is remarkably similar to that of huge corporations trying to sell high sugar cereals.

If you watch, the quality is poor, the editing non existent and the sound. . . well it’s pretty awful. But then again, look at the kids’ faces.

Clearly, Code Pink adheres to the “by any means necessary” mantra. I’ve got to tell you though, ruining my kid’s holiday isn’t the way to get me to consider your point of view. It just makes me think less of you and your cause.

3) Cue the Twilight Zone music over at eyeblast.tv. Chris Matthews isn’t sure what might have proved Maj Hasan was actually dangerous (presumably BEFORE he started spraying bullets). Matthews wonders when Hasan should have been stopped - certainly not just for calling al Qaeda.

In addition, Chris, in true Spitball fashion, talks so much his clearly weary guest can’t get a word in edgewise and must be wondering why he bothered to go to makeup. Tingleguy seems to suggest that until bullets fly, you can’t really stop someone.

So what is the point of this interview? Darned if I know. He certainly was willing to convict HRC of various bad behavior (just search here for old posts on THAT) - but is very careful with Hasan. Can’t call a guy who shot and killed many colleagues a murderer, doncha know. But you can call HRC a senator who gained her seat due to BC’s infidelities. Personally, I’d say there is far more evidence for the former than the latter. But then again, I’m not a highly paid political analyst.

That Code Pink demonstration in front of military families is beyond disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves for upsetting children like that.

As for Tweety, he’s doing his darnedest to make the BO presidency succeed. Good job, Tweety!

My mouth drooped when I read the following article:

You Hillary supporters truly are a bunch of turncoats. There was never anyone more evil and despicable in American history than chimpy. Hillary supporters need to follow the example of a real Hillary supporter like Taylor Marsh, not the Nazi worshipers at HillBuzz.

Comment by Unabashed Galt | 2009-11-11 18:17:40

Your theory about all Hillary supporters is without merit. I was a Hillary supporter, life-long Democrat voter and was against Bush and spoke out against the Iraq II war. I suspect many here share my backgound.

You need to accept the fact the perverting of the democratic process to install Obama has fractured the party and many have left it for good or at least a very long time. I’m now an independent whom in the next election will support the opposition party, in order to try and restore some balance. One party rule is a danger to our freedoms.

Perhaps Mr. Free-dumb’s (as NQs Donna B calls him/her) mouth dropped because the article was not about GWs policies, but on human kindness, something foreign to Free-dumb and the whole Obama “team”

Actually in my opinion its more they (Oxymoron and his minions) are kind to the nebulous theoretical idea of large groups of people but don’t hesitate to crap on individuals and smaller groups to attain their goals. This is the far left’s big hypocrisy, in my view. The far right has its own hypocrisy. Ideologues suck! :)

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-11-11 18:35:04

Thanks for the link to that article Freedom Phony. It’s refreshing to see people regaining their objectivity regarding Bush. It’s amazing how having an unspeakably abyssmal turd like Obama as president, and the repugnant Michelle as first lady, can cause reasonable people to reconsider their judgement of good people like George and Laura. Even the insidious Jimmy Carter is rising from the sewer muck when compared to Obama. :)

Comment by Unabashed Galt | 2009-11-11 18:49:45

I have to defend FF on this aspect: Bush II, does seem to be the most unpopular modern president by any poling data I’ve seen.

However, he is not correct to call Bush II the most unpopular ever, since that can’t be objectively quantified.

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-11-11 19:17:35

At one point, Truman was very unpopular, until history proved him to be a courageous man who made difficult decisions, and he accepted responsibility for the outcomes.

You may be completely against the decisions that Bush made, but at least he was resolved when he decided something, he was fiercely loyal to friends and members of his administration, he took reponsibilty for his actions, he NEVER badmouthed or apologized for this country, I don’t recall him ONCE blaming the difficulty of his job on his predecessor, and he never childishly attacked his detractors. ALL qualities starkly absent from the current White House squatter.

Comment by Unabashed Galt | 2009-11-11 19:22:19

Understood. I was responding to the assertion of his (current) ranking in popularity.

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-11-11 19:36:08

And I understand your point.

Bush may admittedly not be popular……NOW, but the point of the article that FF cited, and my supportive comments, is that his current unpopularity is being moderated and reversed when people begin to discover how bad things can REALLY get when we have an America hating, immature, pathological Narcissist as CIC.

Comment by Unabashed Galt | 2009-11-11 19:42:48

Yep, which is why I said up-thread:

The jury hasn’t even begun to deliberate on the current squatter* in the oval office.

Comment by Freedom Fighter | 2009-11-11 19:52:26

Maybe you don’t follow current events very closely, but by most news accounts, President Obama is probably the smartest President in American history. He and his gracious wife have been featured on countless magazine front pages, a testament to his popularity. While his approval rating have dipped slightly in recent months from unrelenting smear attacks coordinated by Fox and the rightwing extremists, I am sure it will rebound, and President Obama will go down in history as a very popular CIC.

Comment by Portia Elizabeth | 2009-11-11 20:45:11

Oh, hahahaha. Very funny, FF. Oh wait. You’re not being sarcastic.

His label as smartest Prez ever is just absurd. For one thing he can’t even string together a coherent sentence without help. But objectively, the man was not a Rhodes Scholar like Bill Clinton. He wasn’t multi-faceted like Thomas Jefferson who was a prolific inventor (Ever use a swivel chair? Thank Jefferson.), as well as a talented writer and horticulturist among other talents. BO doesn’t have the quick mind that is widely attributed to Theodore Roosevelt. He doesn’t have a Ph.D. like Woodrow Wilson. I could go on and compare him to Lincoln or JFK, but you know he would come up short there as well.

So please give up that crap about him being so smart. (And don’t try to tell me you’ve seen his transcripts and GPA’s.) His purported IQ of 123 is no great shakes. My husband’s is 160 and mine is 145, so I am not impressed by That One’s intelligence. And you shouldn’t be either.

Comment by Onofre's arm | 2009-11-11 21:08:43

That’s nothing, my IQ is 185 (That is if IQ=irritating qualities)

Comment by Portia Elizabeth | 2009-11-12 12:20:10

LOL! In that case, mine must be over 200. Onofre, you’re very witty.

I’m sorry if I sounded boastful above. That wasn’t my intention. IQ is subjective anyway and doesn’t reflect what a person actually can accomplish. I was trying to point out that BO is NOT special even though his followers have bought into that meme.

The smartest guy I ever knew in school ended up working there as a custodian.

One of the funniest and most humbling stories I ever heard about IQ involved Reggie Jackson and Lou Pinella when they played for the Yankees. Reggie was bragging that his IQ was around 165. with typical baseball thinking, Lou snapped back,”Oh yeah? Out of what? 1000?”

Comment by BuzzisbackLatte | 2009-11-11 22:46:12

Obama isn’t THAT smart. His 123 IQ is probably because he can display higher verbal skills, but certainly other areas of intelligence ie comprehension, mathematics, and task completion are within normal limits plus/minus one standard deviation. Since we have NO CLUE of his academic acumen OR his health, mental and physical, we can only base off of what we are presented. Conclusion:

He’s good at reading a teleprompter, but so is Katie Couric.

After the inappropriate response to the Ft Hood shootings, we can also hoist a red flag in the area of personality disorder.

Comment by Unabashed Galt | 2009-11-11 22:51:52

I don’t need no stinkin’ IQ test score to tell me he’s a !@#$ing idiot. His embracing of radicalism for most of his life is proof.

1. I need some objective evidence, not “news accounts”, of his intelligence

2. What in the world has popularity to do with anything? He was “hired” to do a JOB, not to be worshipped.

3. I actually have less respect for a president who makes all this time to be featured on men’s sports magazines and other “popular media”, and who actually does COMMERCIALS for people’s tv shows or products.

We’re talking about the highest office in the land - it is not supposed to be a movie star role, and should not be evaluated by such standards.

Didn’t you ever learn “don’t judge a book by its cover” when you were in 3rd grade?

Comment by jwrjr | 2009-11-11 23:52:20

To paraphrase a certain movie character: Intelligent is as intelligent does. That rather leaves Obama out in the cold (just like he did with his constituents in Chicago).

Wow Nom, I haven’t responded to your nonsense until now because I wanted to give you enough time to post a retraction to your bogus links before I tore into you, you obviously lack the integrity to do so. So let’s disect your links.

1. The writer of this article claims that Bush said the agreement brokered under Clinton with N. Korea had failed, AND THE WRITER spins this into Bush blaming Clinton for the N. Korean nukes. No actual quotes by Bush are given, and even if Bush did make the statement that the agreement had failed, it is more reasonable to assume that Bush was BLAMING THE N. KOREANS for the broken deal.
2. Here, Bush is merely explaining the history of events that eventually led up to 9/11. A non acusational recitation of attacks on our country, from the Marine barracks to the USS Cole, given as an explaination for increased boldness of the terror network, is hardly pointing the finger of blame at his predecessors. And again, the writer of this little snip is the one who spins it as blaming.
3. This is a good one Nom. The date on the article is June 23, 2000, BEFORE BUSH HAD EVEN WON THE NOMINATION!! In the midst of a campaign, is Bush so evil in your eyes that he can’t criticize what was then the CURRENT DEMOCRAT administration? Good grief!
4. This is the best one Nom, and proof of your inestimable intelligence (it’ difficult to estimate something so tiny). THIS IS SATIRE!!! It’s a complete and obvious joke, on “The New York SLIME” webpage. Can you read? Did you actually believe this? Normally, when someone cites as fact something so ridiculous as this, any credibility they may have had evaporates, and I would go no further since everything you may present is now suspect, but I did anyway.
5. This one doesn’t even quote or refer to Bush as the finger pointer, this one quotes a senior Bush official’s assessment of the causes for the deficit. It was his OPINION, not a White House directive to blame a former president.
6. This one has no date, author, or publication listed. Even so, if the one quote given of Bush is accurate, he was merely explaining how a failed summit (and there was one) can have more harmful effects than might have happened had there been no summit at all. And AGAIN, the author, whoever it is, is the one who interprets Bush’s statement as blaming.
7. This article is the only one that comes close to showing an example of Bush blaming his predecessor for something, but if you read the article, which I doubt you did, Bush’s statement that he inherited a recession that started in March 2001 (a fact) was made to demonstrate how things had turned for the better by July 2003 when this description made, at the begginning of the ‘04 campaign. Bush wasn’t whinning that the state of affairs was lousy because of Clinton, he was boasting slightly that he believed his actions had helped turn the economy to the better.
8. I can’t even pull this one up!

So, out of eight links, one was before Bush was President, one doesn’t work, one is an obvious joke, four may have headlines that state Bush blamed somebody, but the articles are clearly are written with a very biased spin, and only one appears close to proving your position, but even that one is not an example of the kind of blaming that has become a mantra of the Obamunists.

You need not provide any more examples, the ones you’ve given are more than adequate to demonstrate that you believe that your visceral hatred of Bush, and your Bush derangement syndrome, entitle you to be deceitful, and free of integrity.

Not long ago, I posted a link to an article that I found out was not entirely accurate and I felt horrible until I was able to get back to my computer and post a retraction and an apology. I won’t hold my breath for you to do likewise.

Comment by Ani | 2009-11-11 23:02:51

Taylor Marsh was not a real Hillary supporter — as soon as the RBC mugging happened on May 31st, she railed against it, then practically the next day, abandoned Hillary to jump on the Obama bandwagon as if he was the next Jesus — no matter that she had been decrying him from the highest hill along with the rest of us for months.

How did he suddenly become so fabulous? She was a credentialed blogger at the Convention and didn’t want to lose her standing so she sold Hillary and her supporters out — instead of fighting for Hillary’s legal right to have her name legitimately put into nomination at the Convention — the sham the DNC staged had him outnumbering her delegates 3 to 1 — when the truth is they were basically tied.

Taylor used as the excuse for her actions that Hillary supported Obama too. More b.s. Hillary is the only one who can possibly be excused for ever campaigning for Obama — she gave her word she would. The media, his supporters and the DNC would have blamed her for singehandedly destroying the Dem Party if she hadn’t. The fact is, of course, that Pelosi et al are the ones who have destroyed the party and abandoned true democratic principles.

Taylor Marsh trashed us all because she thought she could curry favor with the Obots. As soon as his more virulent supporters succeeding in chasing us off her site, with Taylor’s able assistance, they abandoned her, too — as we predicted. She went from 800 comments per thread to 35. This is all business — she moves which way the wind is blowing. That’s it. Now she sends out an email complaining that the WH is abandoning women? Don’t make me laugh. What did she think would happen?

All the hugging and crying in the world will not wash the blood clean from their murderous hands.

Taylor Marsh is a piece of sh#t.

I think most of us can agree that Matthews has become a joke [which isn't hard to do when you're featured on MSNBC "News"]. Love how the Far Left is quick to savage Fox but can’t seem to recognize the riduculous spin over on MSNBC.

As for the Afghanistan delay? It’s hard listening to the myriad of excuses. But just from reading various news outlets, it’s reasonable to believe that the Administration will be sending around 35,000 additional troops. Can’t give the General what he wants, afterall.

This has been a hard few weeks to get my head around.

Eight times! The White House is refuting any intention to make a decision. DRIP DRIP DRIP

“The president believes that we need to make clear to the Afghan government that our commitment is not open-ended,”

said an official providing a readout

( like I need translation)
of Obama’s Wednesday meeting with his war cabinet to discuss whether to deploy more troops to Afghanistan.

“After years of substantial investments by the American people, governance in Afghanistan must improve in a reasonable period of time to ensure a successful transition to our Afghan partner,” the official said, adding that Obama had yet to decide on troop plans for the war-torn country.

Meeting in the White House for an eighth time to deliberate on the future of the mission in Afghanistan, Obama and his top advisors discussed the time frames necessary to implement each of the four options currently on the table for the war against a growing insurgency.

Shhhh!!! Be quiet now! Wait for it! (pin drops)

A fourth option had been added recently, but administration officials refused to spell out any details of troop numbers.

Today’s Globe said he was deliberating on the DADT situation and pondering whether to send more troops into Afghanistan. I hope he only has one type of toilet paper in the White House or he’ll have hemorrhoids before he decides which to use.

I heard he has his image printed on it, much like my granddaughters diapers have Mickey Mouse and Goofey on them.

I tell you what is “open ended”.
The contracts to farmers to raise poppy from the Taliban and multi-national cartels.
The ISI’s intention to shelter provacaturs.
The corruption of the Afghan government.
The lack of aid to local political structures that is required from MyCrystal’s plan. (Which ever version)
The increasing violence to innocents.

Well for Christ sake, why don’t they just threaten to project a humongous holograghic image of Nazi Pelosi over the boarder between Afghanistan and Pakistan. That ought to send even blood thirsty Talibaners (and any other indigenous wildlife) fleeing in horror into the nearest holes and caves, where they’ll remain until they starve to death rather than suffer the agonizing burning pain that a vision of our Speaker would sear on their retinas.

Two years ago I watched MSNBC about as often as I watch Fox Cable News today and Chris Matthews’ show was one I followed on a regular basis. Now I wouldn’t be caught dead watching that network or Matthews - no, not even “haunting” them as a Code Pink demonstrator.

My question, how does the MSNBC gang, including Chris Matthews stay on the air? Just exactly “who” or “what” is keeping them afloat?

LOL! “Heated gaseous form of Koolaid” seems to be as good an explanation as any.

I hardly watch any “news” programs since the “election” except for some occasional Fox news. And just after the “election” I did not even watch those less noxious gasbags for months.

I think if Dobbs goes to Fox, I might actually watch his show. He is one of the few people who stood up for Hillary when she was being shafted and criminally denied the nomination by those evil assholes destroying the Democratic Party, my freedoms and our former great nation.

Nope, evil bastards of the Democratic Party, we will NEVER “get over it” as you hallucinated we would when your savior began to part the Red Sea. And by the way, it looks like the sea ain’t never gonna part.

I hope you far lefties and your organic mushroom powered SUVs have pontoons! ;)

Interesting intelligence agency assessment of Hasan; gives the timeline of events before his attack. Looks like the visitor came to his apartment on Tuesday, and after that began the giving away of his belongings, and the wearing of the traditional robe. I think that guy came to tell him what he was to do and when.

Alternate headline: “Obama votes present.”

President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday.

That push follows strong reservations about a possible troop buildup expressed by the U.S. ambassador in Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, according to a second top administration official.

Once evryone starts engaging with Freedom Fighter, my interest in the articles and comments disappears. Is that FF’s MO? Change, the subject, praise Obummer, throw out some known propaganda and become the subject of conversation rather than the article.

Good point. Wasn’t that Code pink video vile?

Always. That’s a Obot tact. If they don’t just alienate with demeaning name calling and attacking, they try to change the subject, because they can’t argue against the truth of the subject at hand.

Same ol same ol modus operandi.

Obama will likely lose this war for us- he clearly lacks the judgement, dedication, and principle to win such a labrilynthine conflict.

He already was caught dozing while the Russians nabbed the Kyrgizstani air base SO vital to any plans for a US “surge” strategy in Afghanistan. -

The clueless Obama (and foreign-policy “expert” Biden) were the most vocal opponents of the Petraeus Surge strategy in Iraq, with Slow Joe coming-up with a harebrained plan to surrender and split the country 3-ways. If America had followed their advice then, Iraq would be an Al Qaida Caliphate by now.

Of course, the media is too preoccupied with articles on the Dear Leader’s puppy-vetting process and how he likes to play basketball to call him on these serious strategic errors… reality starting to hit hard now, though-

Official: Obama Rejects All Afghan War Options

President won’t accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead to clarify when responsibility would be turned over to the Afghan government.
AP
Nov. 12, 2009
WASHINGTON
– President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday.

That stance comes in the midst of forceful reservations about a possible troop buildup from the U.S. ambassador in Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, according to a second top administration official.

In strongly worded classified cables to Washington, Eikenberry said he had misgivings about sending in new troops while there are still so many questions about the leadership of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Obama is still close to announcing his revamped war strategy — most likely shortly after he returns from a trip to Asia that ends on Nov. 19.

But the president raised questions at a war council meeting Wednesday that could alter the dynamic of both how many additional troops are sent to Afghanistan and what the timeline would be for their presence in the war zone, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Obama’s thinking.

Military officials said Obama has asked for a rewrite before and resisted what one official called a one-way highway toward war commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s recommendations for more troops. The sense that he was being rushed and railroaded has stiffened Obama’s resolve to seek information and options beyond military planning, officials said, though a substantial troop increase is still likely.

continued….

Now the news is, “Obama is rejecting all plans before him and wants another one”

Uh oh. Looks like we should be scared. Obama is turning to his delusional state of mind. Hillary warned everyone. The Skies will open and bring to ye the one that will make option number 13, one that is magically like Obama’s subconscience. One that will give him the troop McChrystal is requesting to do the job Obama requested, but will be able to tell the left, they will be a special group that goes and not be counted as additional troops, and then he can take over Karzai to run that country as he sees fit.

Voila!

Obama is indeed a dangerous narcissist. Now he is embarrassed that he was called out for choosing Bush’s policy in March, where he of grand nature (because, that’s Weary Barry) his new Afghan strategy, that of course he supposedly agreed with after using this strategy for 2 years on his campaign trail. But why is no one mentioning that he backed away from his own Iraq policy (that he campaigned for 2 years on as well) and once getting elected, went with Bush’s policy there too, staying in Iraq until 2012 (at min).

Anyhow, he has been outted for using Bush’ policy, so now he wants another policy all together. This is his disaster. The idiot CHOSE and campigned on basically this path and now he wants a do over?

I also find his mental state is shaky. His ego is forcing him to now claim he is asking for an entire new strategy, after he expanded the war, but didn’t give the men needed for his expansion and commitment. And now, like a dog, he’s going to mark his turf. I could not believe he would be so obvious to make a stop over in Alaska, now that Sarah isn’t Governor, so he can mark his turf. Is his ego bruised that Sarah is in his home city, Chicago? But she had to, that’s where Oprah is.

Poor Obama is in meltdown. No, I take it back, poor US, Obama is in meltdown.

I thought he might have a nervous breakdown by now and be forced to resign. I’m guessing he might be medicated, or has been all along. God help us.
