Barack Is Totally Delusional (UPDATED)

Talk about hopeless audacity. Barack Obama’s petulant performance today presented a persona to the American people that they are likely to see with increasing frequency over the next three years. And the more they see the less they will like. Barack was challenged about the turd of a health care bill just passed in the Senate and responded as follows:
. . . Obama vigorously defended the legislation, saying he is “not just grudgingly supporting the bill. I am very enthusiastic about what we have achieved.”
“Nowhere has there been a bigger gap between the perceptions of compromise and the realities of compromise than in the health-care bill,” Obama said. “Every single criteria for reform I put forward is in this bill.”
In listing those priorities, he cited the 30 million uninsured Americans projected to receive coverage, estimated savings of more than $1 trillion over the next two decades, a “patients’ bill of rights on steroids,” and tax breaks to help small businesses pay for employee coverage.
Those elements are in the House and Senate versions of the legislation; their competing proposals will have to be reconciled in conference committee next year. The House bill includes a government-run insurance plan favored by progressive Democrats; the Senate version does not. “I didn’t campaign on the public option,” Obama said in the interview.
So, you didn’t campaign on a public option?
Let’s start with this little tidbit:
Then there is one of those pesky campaign documents issued by Obama:
Through the Exchange, any American will have the opportunity to enroll in the new public plan or an approved private plan, and income-based sliding scale tax credits will be provided for people and families who need it. Insurers would have to issue every applicant a policy and charge fair and stable premiums that will not depend upon health status. The Exchange will require that all the plans offered are at least as generous as the new public plan and meet the same standards for quality and efficiency.
Then there are the questions he answered in writing for the Washington Post:
Do you have a plan to make health care more accessible to Americans? If so, how would you do it?
Every American has the right to affordable, comprehensive and portable health coverage. My plan will ensure that all Americans have health care coverage through their employers, private health plans, the federal government, or the states. My plan builds on and improves our current insurance system, which most Americans continue to rely upon, and creates a new public health plan for those currently without coverage. Under my plan, Americans will be able to choose to maintain their current coverage if they choose to. For those without health insurance I will establish a new public insurance program, and provide subsides to afford care for those who need them. My plan includes a mandate that all children have health care coverage and I will expand eligibility for the Medicaid and SCHIP programs to help ensure we cover all kids. My plan requires all employers to contribute towards health coverage for their employees or towards the cost of the public plan. Under my plan a typical family will save $2,500 each year. We will realize tremendous savings within the health care system from improving efficiency and quality and reducing wasted expenditures system-wide. Specifically, these savings will result from investments in health information technology, improvements in prevention and management of chronic conditions, increased insurance industry competition and reduced industry overhead, the provision of federal reinsurance for catastrophic coverage, and reduced spending on uncompensated care.
Barack Obama’s insistent denial that he campaigned touting a public auction is akin to Tiger Woods claiming he never fucked other women. It is beyond laughable, it is pathetic. Worst of all, at least for Barack Obama, he has now ensured that he will be a laughing stock. Comedy writers cannot resist this kind of red meat. You cannot continue to insist the Sun does not rise in the East when it is 8am on a clear day in July and the Sun is blazing. Most people will no longer be blinded by his bullshit. Good God! Who would have thought that Barack Obama would be acting like Don Rumsfeld. Just like Rummy, who claimed there were no insurgents in Iraq while violence spiraled out of control in Baghdad, Obama harbors the delusion that people cannot read his speeches and watch recordings of his campaign events where he pledged to provide a public option. Game’s over, baby. Game’s over.
UPDATE–Here’s a nifty, quicky video reinforcing Barack’s abandonment of a campaign pledge.
And here’s another:
Obama lied and people will die. That’s not hope or change I can believe in.
