By the way, did anyone listen to Terry Gross’ ridiculous interview last night on Fresh Air with some guy who claimed that “if you listen to the intonation, Wright’s not saying ‘GOD DAMN AMERICA,’ he’s saying ‘God, Damn America’”?

I mean, how idiotic? Yeah, I get it, he’s asking God to Damn America.

Randi Rhodes was always my least favorite Radio Host on Air America (Before I cancelled my 3-year old premium podcast membership when it became “Air Obama)

Randi Rhodes would go on the air and refer to herself as a black female journalist. Last I checked she was white and jewish and radio host does not a “journalist” make.

She should be suspended from the airwaves same as David Shuster was on MSNBC for his “pimped out” comment when referencing Chelsea stumping for her mom!

I hope that Air America goes under and regardless of who inhabits 100 Pennsylvania Ave., we true progressives should never tune into these kinds of shows ever again!

There is a reason she can’t find work

Randi Rhodes is the biggest disappointment in the huge disappointment that is Air America.

She’s gone from rational, passionate advocacy for progressive candidates and causes to irrational, nonsensical rants that have no clear objective and pro-Obama screeds that have no basis in fact.

Air America has let me down so many times that I’ve stopped listening. The hosts are either hopelessly inept, or ridiculously pro-Obama, or both.

I got XM just so I could listen to Air America. I have no intention of renewing my subscription when it expires.

Not only is Rhodes’ diatribe tacky, tasteless, and hateful; it’s just really bad comedy.

I’m a performer and she really stinks. God is good.

I used to listen to Randi Rhodes every weekday. Now I never listen to her. I continued to listen to Thom Hartmann until last week because he kept saying both candidates would make great presidents. Then last week he declared the “Throw granny under the bus” speech the greatest speech since the Gettysburg Address.

She is an absolute hypocrite, before Edwards got out of the race she criticized Barack for his war speech before he was elected and then railed on him for not living those ideals and aligning himself with certain people in congress after being elected. I guess I shouldn’t act so shocked. It reflects her lack of professionalism to say the least. All AAradio lost my listenership after they all seemed to simultaneously jump into the BO boat and rail unfairly against Hillary.

I used to listen to Randy, but now I boycott the entire channel and their affiliates. Stephanie Miller is the most vacuous of them all, and Randy is venal. Randy will do anything if she thinks it yields money, but what she fails to acknowledge are the low ratings of Air America. It was an interesting experiment, however. Too bad it failed.

Isn’t it interesting that before the primary season began, these Air America radio hosts talked about nothing but the superiority of we Demcrat’s. How, unlike the Republicans, our strength comes from our “diversity”. We are the “true” big tent party.

So my co-worker and I have had passing comments about the race and we talked about the sources of information etc. including radio.
I pulled along side him this afternoon and he starts laughing at me…i ask him what’s so funny…We both switched from Air America to Lou Dobbs. No I don’t always agree with the man,but at least Dobbs isn’t having a coronary on the mike.

After watching this I can’t believe how reprehensible she is. If this is what is passing for “progressive” radio these days then I completely understand why someone like Taylor Marsh hasn’t been able to make it. Taylor has WAY more class than this disgusting person. Randy Rhodes is a female Rush Limbaugh. And maybe even worse.

Exactly right. When I got XM radio in 2003, it was SPECIFICALLY to get Air America. I remember Al Franken telling me why Air America was different from Right-Wing talk: the “dittoheads” told you what to think, who to send money to, who do vote for. Air America was different. Air America would never treat us like children who needed to be guided like sheep.

How times have changed. I never listen to Air America for more than a few minutes at a time, and invariably turn it off in disgust, often while swearing under my breath (or, if in my car, out loud.) Rhodes is the WORST, but Rachel Maddow, gunning for her own MSNBC show, is not far behind.

An ecoFriendly radio Station, until recently was called Quakeradio. I heard the the station manager say he values listener input so if you want to drop a friendly note….and remind them what “progressive” means.

I used to listen to Randi Rhodes and remember that she used to talk a lot about the voters of Florida being robbed of their vote in 2000 and 2004.

Does she ever talk about the Florida Primary of 2008?

I used to listen to Rhodes but stopped back in early January. Rhodes along with most of the hosts on Air America disgust me now. I hope they go bankrupt again.

I agree. Taylor Marsh is a Clinton partisan and she isn’t afraid to say so. All journalists and radio show hosts should put their beliefs on the table. If Rachel Maddow actually had the decency to come out and say that she is in fact an Obamabot I would have more respect for her and Rhodes.

Even as a partisan for Clinton, Taylor still has a respect for Obama and gives credit where credit is due. She has never called Obama, his wife, or anyone on his campaign the n-word, whores, or monsters. Taylor is better than those jerks at Air America. I hope they go under and I’m telling all of my friends to listen to Taylor and support her website instead of listening to that progressive radio garbage over at Air America

I am so thankful for this post. I thought I was the only one who felt upset with Randi. I have listen to Air America since its inception. Randi was always my favorite until recently. I was so upset by her rants about Hillary that I sent a e-mail to Mark Green, I also tried to call. I have reached out to people in New York that know him to let him know how I felt. I’ve e-mailed her, and tried to call her show. I now only listen to Lionel in the morning. I never thought I would say something like this but I actually listen to Fox News Radio. I find them less disgusting to liberal radio. I don’t know what happened to the Democratic Party I loved. It breaks my heart that the left of party is as disgusting as the right. They all lost it. Best part of my life, now I don’t listen to AM radio anymore. What a bunch of losers they turned out to be, just like Limbaugh and company. They had to take it there. I think now they lost any credibility even Rachel Maddow. Down the toilet.

Green960 is the new name for the progressive station in the San Francisco Bay Area (oakland). They had a special get-together with Randi last weekend. I was originally going to go, but saved myself the five bucks. Not too long ago, they cut Stephanie Miller’s show to one hour. (Steph is one of the few Obama-mamas that is willing to defend Hillary.) After they got hundreds of e-mails, they restored her show to its three hours. Thus they claimed that they listened to the will of the people. if they hadn’t cut Stephanie’s show in the first place, they wouldn’t have had to go through that rigamarole to restore it. So the business of paying attention to their listeners is a pile of crapola. It would be simpler if they changed their name to Radio Obama.

Yes, she claims that they didn’t go vote because they were told their votes wouldn’t count.

Hmmm…I actually thought sh was drunk when I watched it…

Just last year, Rhodes would go on and on talking about how she had met Bill and Hillary and had been so overwhelmed by the moment; she talked about Bill’s charm and brilliance and Hillary’s grace and wit….for her to act the way she does nowadays, I have to believe there is something else going on with her. Brain damage from the attack she experienced this winter? Drugs? Her show has become aimless diatribes featuring long pauses in which she seems to be trying to recover her train of thought.

She kind of reminds me of the great ventriloquist Phil Hendrie, who was a liberal Democrat with one of the best, funniest shows on the radio….until September 11. Then he gradually became unhinged; replacing his funny voices with hour-long rants about the dangers of “Islamofascism” and praise of George Bush (and attacks on the Democrats and John Kerry.) He alienated friends like Matt Gruening and drove his listeners (and his wife and family) away, and finally retired in 2005. By that time I had given up on him. Very very sad.

Whenever an intelligent caller brings up subjects that are beyond her, she invariably yells “YOU DONT GET IT!” at them and changes the subject to something she thinks she can comprehend. She will get into arguments with people who are in total agreement with her because she is always in a defensive posture. She’ll get things completely wrong and dismiss people who try to set her straight. She’s just a loud, obnoxious, self-hating woman who has apparently lost her mind- and she is no Progressive.

I don’t listen to Air America anymore. I don’t visit most progressive blogs anymore. I think finding out that so many of the progressive blogs were no better than the Republicans they railed agains for so many years is the hardest lesson I’ve learned during this campaign. It’s pretty much killed my own desire to write about political stuff so usually I just post what others are saying.

Maybe we should have a poll of our own: The biggest phony or phoniest blog in the progressive blogsphere. It should be a tight race.

I have given up on air america. Apparently, they pick a candidate right or wrong and stick with it regardless of the facts just like the extreme right wing. I gave up on Air America months ago, and now listen to the BBC; it’s much more civilized. The other day I heard a great feature on Seattle’s progress in its efforts to reduce the city’s collective carbon footprint, followed by a story about how Alaska’s truly maverick GOP governor, Sarah Palin, has been working with State Senate Democrats to confront and combat her state’s GOP old boy network. It’s sort of sad that I find myself relying on the British for real news about my own country.

I don’t listen to Air America (no time) but I watch Rachel Maddow on TV, who is considered the brightest person in broadcasting.

Don’t you think it’s beginning to look strange that you loathe every progressive show? Why do you think they are critical of Sen. Hilton, and less than excited about another contentious Clinton regime?

The nexus of Hendrie and Rhodes (not her real name) is that both worked at WIOD in Miami. Hendrie went on to bigger and better, until he reached his Level of Incompetence, whereas Rhodes moved to ever-smaller market, peanut whistle AM’ers until Air America.

No comparing the talent level of the two. Hendrie is a pro who burned himself out, while Randi is, and has always been, a shrieking loudmouth.

I am so disgusted with Air America. I used to listen to them all the time, until they became Air Obama. Randi Rhodes, Stephanie Miller, Laura Flanders, are dispicable. Thom Hartmann, has even been disappointing of late. I can’t stand to turn them on anymore. I am so glad I am not alone. I really wanted them to make it, but they’ve gone so far over the edge, I can’t see them making their way back. I have fired a letter off to the head of Air America telling him how disappointed I am. Does anyone know if their ratings are down. I would think so, by the remarks on this blog. Thank God, there is a safe place to vent. Yelling at my television and radio have become typical for me. Nice to know, others are doing the same. We just have to keep letting these people know, what we think of them–they suck.

The reason why we loved Air America before, is because they were bashing the Bush Administration, and rightly so. When the campaign for President began, these people, were all saying that the Dems were well represented. Of course they have a right to their opinion, just we have the right to turn them off, if we disagree. There is stating your opinion and then there is nastiness. They have become very nasty with their comments about Hillary. Wasn’t Obama’s campaign supposed to be above the fray, and not bent towards the negative? Not doing a very good job of staying out of the gutter with their personal attacks. If he is all about uniting us, then why do so many of us feel disenfranchised? Nan, Look: we all have our personal experiences, and observations. Here, in Florida, we were told this election was just a Beauty contest, because it wouldn’t count. A lot of Edwards supporters went to volunteer in other states to help Edwards, because their vote in Florida wouldn’t count anyway.

Sen. Clinton was so sure of being coronated (she calmly told Katie Curic that she doesn’t hve to have an alternative plan, because she will win, and it will be all over on Super Tuesday)

So when this Skinny Upstart Obama won Iowa, the Clinton campaign had no Plan B.

Here she was planning to run for President for decades, but she wasn’t ready to run a campaign from day one.

It was the Clinton campaign that started circulating the Muslim smear about Obama, because it showed up on a Dem. Group e mail, posted by a Clinton advocate, with the note: Interesting, did you know about this?That was story that he was a Muslim, swore in on the Koran, wouldn’t pledge allegiance, the works.

So why would a vicious lie like this be targeting Democrats during the primary? The only beneficiary of this is Sen. Clinton.

That is when I got turned off.

I stopped listening to Hartman way before Obama’s speech. I stopped listening when he accused Hillary of darkening Obama’s skin color on the 3 a.m. ad. I could not belive it!!!! I used to think he had integrity. Not anymore. I wrote him a letter (U.S.Mail) giving him Fact Check’s analysis of the ad (not darkened) and another very detailed analysis of why the color had not been doctored. I told him that Hillary deserved an on-air apology for that remark since it was not true.

I have not heard one word back. Not even a form letter. So I am back to listening to oldies when I drive. And I drive a lot for work. No more Air America for me.

The only buzz word you need ot know is racism. The racism integrated into the campaign by Obama surrogates. Yes, those so called progressive surrogates who have ranted about Republican tactics for so long, decided to adopt them. The racism began two days after New Hampshire, when Obama’s campaign coordinating with certain blogs, introduced the R word by hinting around that the New Hampshire voters couldn’t vote for him because of racism. And how utterly convenient that the South Carolina Primary with the majority of Democratic voters being
AA were up next. I guess you are one of the Obamabots who believe the Clintons are total idiots that they would suddenly become racist just before a primary where the majority of the Democrats were black. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

You’ve picked up the progressive blogospher “buzzwords” just fine yourself. Hilary had no back up plan, blah blah blah, Hilary started the Muslim smear blah blah blah etc. etc. etc. We’ver heard all of this crap before and like so many others you can’t back a word of it up. And here I was always told by the progressive blogs that only the Republicans were parrots and puppets.

Obama can show restraint…when he has so many doing his dirty work for him. Surrogates like yourself unable to defend him on his plans and policies…just about all of which were lifted from Edwards and Clinton. And don’t try to use the Republican ploy of twisting words. What was she supposed to tell Couric, that she was going to lose? What a stupid statement that would have been just like you using it in your very facetious argument. Go back to the so called progressive blogs, where you will be greeted with open arms I’m sure since now they want just bots like yourself who march in step to the pied piper while questioning noone. Did Obama fire his bounty of surrogates who painted the Clintons as racists on TV? No. Did Obama blame the Clinton campaign for circulating his African garb photo after he said they had nothing to do with it in the Texas debate? Yes!

I have listened to Air America from day one. I was a devoted listener. But Randi’s remarks over the last few weeks and then her comments and language at the Green960 party are beyond belief.
It is one thing to disagree with Hillary’s viewpoints but to go after Hillary for her clothes, her “Wilma beads,” her “fat ankles,” it just shows that Randi has no class. As a broadcaster she makes a good garbage man. Maybe she needs to be given a time out for good.

It was conversation in play on 2/23/08 when Matt Drudge made his claim 2/25/08. So he didn’t scoop anything, and his comments are vague at best.

In one of those cases I called the Clinton campaign to scold them for being so stupid. I read the interview with the local staff chair who was clear that the woman who circulated the email was offended by the email and was making it known to their higher ups that this was circulating. She was dismissed even though she was offended by the email itself.

thats because they didn’t, and only Matt Drudge can prove his assertion by publishing the email. The flap started at the FreeRepublic, and the Obama supporters have no interest in finding the source because it serves them to blame Clinton.

Its a huge part of why I will never support Obama because I’ve been in journalism long enough to fact check and dig up sources. I know where it came from. I’ve informed Obama’s campaign several times. I’ve informed all the major outlets and if they simply refuse to update the story, it won’t change the facts.

I too was a devoted Air America listener. I got uneasy back when they began calling anyone that didn’t agree with them on immigration reform racists. That kind of attitude and discourse didn’t seem very “progressive” to me.

I listened to fewer hours, never liked the “Young Jerks” or Rhandi Rhodes. I quit listening to Al Franken after he kept whining on his show about it being all right for Israel to bomb Lebanon to hell because “they started it.” And Ring of Fire became unlistenable when Pap lost his mind and ranted about how all the baby boomers were responsible for the ills of the country. (Still love Bobby but listening to a lunatic like Pap isn’t worth it.)

Program by program I stopped listening. Once Rachel Maddow proved to my satisfaction that she has no integrity I stopped listening to her too. And now I don’t listen at all.

Maybe if Mark Green wasn’t so cozy with Arianna “I hate Hillary more that anyone” Huffington he might have kept his radio station from becoming Air Obama. Whatever. Maybe they’ll survive with just the Obamatrons as an audience. Doubt it though.

Randi Rhodes is a a big fat irelevant bore. I haven’t listened to her since the day she screamed at the top of her lungs at a caller on her show over and over again, just being a horrible bitch. Why is she still on the air? No one listens to her. If she could stop for one minute just being completely immersed in her own personality. Big freakin’ whore: that’s Randi.

All the shows listed use exactly the same twisted talking points against Hillary- why should we consider one more valid than the other? We aren’t stupid. Six people bleating the same thing isn’t more intelligent than two people bleating it. When you hear someone say something you know is not true, then you hear it repeated by several other people, are you then convinced that YOU are the one with the issues? That’s your problem, then.

To answer your final question- yes, when people are wrong, they are wrong- and it doesn’t matter how many of them there are. No, we are not the only ones who are right, because there are other sites which illustrate the FACTS. But we ARE right.

No one is as clever as Randi Rhodes thinks she is. That’s why her show is mostly aimless rambling- she’s in love with the sound of her own voice (hey, just like Rush and Sean and O’Reilly) and feels no need to actually get to a point- she figures she’ll hold her audience if she just throws out a “oh by the way, Hillary is a lying piece of crap who should withdraw” comment every so often.

Unfortunately, Air America has gone down the tubes. There is no radio outlet for true liberal voices. Rush & Co. run rampant unabated. I used to do a liberal television and radio talk show in, of all places, Akron, Ohio. And we got quite a following. So, executed correctly, there is an audience for true liberalism. Randi is a total disappoint of late. Although, I have to say that she seemed to trend downward when her “arch nemesis” Al Fraken left AA. She just didn’t seem to have the heart in it anymore.

First, I’d like to apologize if my comments last night were a bit harsh. I was pretty pissed about other things and Randi’s comments put me over the top.

I listened to Air America on its first day with Al and kept listening for he and Randi. I was so happy I was able to finally hear the woman who knocked Limbaugh off the ratings map in Florida and I’ve enjoyed her show so much over the years. Sure there was bloviating and bluster, but she always had the facts on her side and encouraged her listeners to research things on their own and not take her word for it.

Now I am just disgusted. Disgusted that the “progressive” community have not only turned their backs on the Clintons, but they’ve stabbed those backs unfairly and with a bile once reserved for Republicans. Worse, they’re smearing them with falsehoods and personal attacks as if they’re sailing on a lefty Swiftboat.

I never thought I’d see the day I would be an outsider in a party and movement I once felt so passionately about and those people just don’t care.

I have to agree with what you said. I have no idea what is wrong with Randi and Air Obama (and Olbermann, geez!). I was a devoted listener from Day One, then all the good hosts left, were fired, or morphed into mindless Obamabots.

I think that Obama’s strength is that no one really knows who he is, so they can project their own ideas and passions onto him and convince themselves that he represents them. Many past Presidents have this quality, and I believe it is deliberately cultivated in Obama.

I have been feeling so much of what you express. I am a long-time talk radio lover. Way back when we had only AM I would listen to news or weather mixed with a lot of country music. Meh, it makes for interisting concersation these days. I’m a little bit country … and all that. I will now have Marie Osmond singing in my head the rest of the day. Rats!

I listened to Limbaugh at first because he was the only game in town as far as radio went. But I gave up and did not listen to talk radio for years until Air America. Finally I had people I could enjoy listening to. Though they were such an unlikely and often boring bunch save Randi and later Stephanie Miller.

I stopped listening six or more months ago and it has been a grieving process.

And like many have shared here, I find myself doing what was once unthinkable for me, watching FOX and listening to some right wing radio. But I don’t trust them at all! My TV time is down dramatically and I can thank them for that.

I pretty much stopped listening to Air America when Kathryn Lanpher (sp?) left Al Franken’s show. She was a radio pro, and, boy, did he need one. Al’s show REALLY went downhill after she left. Unlistenable! As for Randi Rhodes, I listened to her for maybe the first three or four months of Air America but found her abuse of callers a real turnoff. I loved Stephanie Miller’s show but fell out of listening to it because of time pressure, so I haven’t heard any of her Clinton bashing, and I’m not going to start now–just glad I didn’t subscribe to the podcast. Maybe when all this is over I can listen to Stephanie again. Rachel, too. I’ll just regard their Obamamania as a temporary mental derangement, forgive and forget. But Randi Rhodes–yech. She must have heard that she could catch more flies with honey than she could with vinegar but decided she could catch more flies with shit than she could with honey. She sure sounds like that’s what she believes.

Several months ago, when Oprah went with Obama to S.C. to “introduce” him to the folks down there, Randi got her dumb ass up on the radio and said that Oprah wasn’t acting Black enough. African-Americans WERE OUTRAGED–me including and I support HILLARY! She ranted and raved the entire show about how Oprah was acting White and such and I did everything I could to mobilzie fellow AFrican-Americans to write to Air America to get that bitch off of the air. She isn’t on during the 3pm-6pm hour here in D.C. anymore. I’m not sure if they moved her to another timeslot, but I don’t care. She can kiss my black ass.

Randi Rhodes pimped herself for Obama only after she went on that anti-Oprah tirade last Dec. She had to make nice and get her black audience back. She had to show that she isn’t the racist pig she came across as on her radio program. We no longer listen to her program and after hearing this skit I will actively push for her to be fired from Air America. Maybe Taylor Marsh can take this whore’s place!

I know how you feel. I’ve been away from the blogosphere for a while and was horrified by what I began to see as I eased myself back in a few weeks ago. Clinton Derangement Syndrome has jumped from the Never-Right-Wing hate-o-sphere to the Progressive Movement, and killed it. I was a devoted listener to Air America/Progressive radio for many years. After the pro-Obama talk started this did not bother me at first, but after a few months all of the hosts (Stephanie Miller, Randi, and Ed Shultz) I could not stand the Hillary bashing any longer. They all have nothing but negative things to say the Clinton’s and often insulting, but the Obamas are Mr & Mrs Telfon. I am an African-American and Hillary supporter and I listened to Progressive radio because I wanted more fair and balanced reporting. When these guys talk about the Clinton’s they sound like Republicans. With all the negative/one-sided reporting, there is not wonder so many people have turned on the Clintons. I hate to say it, but I now listen to conservative radio. That is the only media that will report positive and negative about both Democratic candidates.

I was so happy when one of our local radio stations took on Air America. I listened faithfully every day driving to work, at work and driving home.

I stopped listening to Stephanie Miller when she and her giggling boys kept playing clips of Hillary Clinton laughting, called it a cackle and made fun of her. (note: I was not a Hillary supporter).

I stopped listening to Randi Rhodes when she became insulting to people who called in and talked on and on about her large boobs. I figured she must be one of those women (unfortunately there are too many) who hate themselves. When she went after Clinton for the way she looks, I became convinced about her self-hatred and, therefore, the hatred of other women.

I stopped listening to Rachel Maddox, Sam Cedar and Tom Harttman when they claimed to be neutral but not very subtle in their support of Obama.

I think progressives should have integrity and honesty. None of the Air America hosts fit that.

Gosh, I’ve happened in on a wolf pack closing in for the kill.

Yeah, I’ve seen Randi’s shows deteriorate cuz she found herself without an issue – her central cause became relatively irrelevant, and she found instead any number of irksome distractions to pursue. But pursue them she did, all the while losing heart, talking to a listenership who unfold largely as a herd of sheep. She’s wanted to join like minded folk in a joint effort to move out the shit and replace it with the rational. Instead. she’s become an unwilling shepherd. That ain’t what she’s for, so she thrashes instead.
