chia obama is racist?

Walgreens received some complaints about Chia Obama. Apparently Chia Obama is racist.

Would it help if arugula grew out of his head? Me thinks Walgreens needs to change their name to Walyellas.

Seriously? This is racist? People are bothered by this? (note: these are rhetorical questions…)

Well, I know one shop I won’t be shopping at the next time I visit my mom.

OMG! The PC police have gone insane. You know what this reminds me of??? The lunatic fringe who sees the devil in Pokeman Cards or subliminal messages in Sesame Street or purple teletubbies. Same behavior, just opposite ends of the spectrum. The only difference is it’s acceptable to condemn it when it comes from the right. It’s encouraged when it comes from the left.

    • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

you mean the little pokemon isn’t gay? hahah

      I know… this is crazy!

  • http://me414.wordpress.com/ Mary Ellen

It’s the same old same old with the Obama crowd, a bunch of morons who think that anything that portrays their Messiah as black is racist….which in itself is a racist attitude, no? Can they not admit they have a black president? They have to make sure he’s not portrayed as “too” black?

    • jwrjr

The Obots do seem to elevate racism to an art form.

    • lorac

All the black women in that photo have ironed hair. It sounds like black people are racist against natural black hair – they can’t have it, and Chia pets can’t have it.

  • Sassy

What happened to the days when we had an election and then saw a President as needed?
Good grief! Since BO took office the entire world has turned into the “Tower of Babel”!
I would think he would be flattered by any novelty that makes a buck…he surely isn’t worried about over-exposure!

    • sandi78

He’d only be flattered if he was making the buck.

      • http://noquarter foxyladi14

        LOL..ain’t that the truth…

  • samanthasmom

The company that makes it should offer him royalties on each one sold and see what happens.

    • zygodactyl

If they redesigned it to grow weed, Obama’d have one under his Oval Office desk.

  • Dutch

Obama (and his people) has no sense of humor – too bad, because he is laughable!

  • Peggy Sue

Walgreens turned into a PC weenie. So, “Chia Obama” is offensive but Hillary the Nutcracker was a halarious sellout.

    Double standard anyone?

I think ridicule is probably the best ammunition against the Obama crew. They’re obviously very thin-skinned. Or is that a racist comment, too?

    Nonsense!

    • brodie

I’m with you- apparently only remarks about MEN are considered beyond the pale- women should just be quiet & take it I suppose. I WON’T be a “good girl”- I WON’T shut up and I WON’T be PC to satisfy these morons. I dislike PC morons of all colors & affiliations. Piss on ‘em. They so don’t care what I think, so I’ll return the favor. Arrrgh I’m SO tired of seeing Barky’s face on the bloody TV! Please- go to the WH & DO YOUR JOB!!!

      • lorac

        My guess is that they’re not being PC – I think they’re one-issue people…

        • Sabina

Peggy Sue, the Hillary Nutcracker was sexist and offensive to women (the memory of trucker carlson laughing still disgusts me). If there was a doll of Obama as an ape or with him bending down an shinning shoes, there would have been a lot of outrage and those dolls would have been scraped. But the Hillary nutcracker doll, nobody said anything and it was still allowed to be sold.

The Hillary nutcracker doll should have been scraped as well, it was sexist, being PC had nothing to do with it.

However this Chia Obama is not racist at all, since they are even planning to have a chia Hillary and trust me Chia Hillary is not even sexist nor offensive like the Hillary nutcracker.

If the Chia Obama looks like an Afro, well first this is not meant to ridicule the afro, and there was nothing wrong with the Afro as well. There is nothing wrong with portraying black people as black people, but since that was not the intention with the Chia Obama, it is not racist

    • Docelder

I specifically remember seeing Bill Clinton chia heads. Our inability in this country to deal with race on anything above a grade school level is beyond ridiculous.

      • Ashy1

Yes, and it was a silly looking thing, too.

        • Docelder

Yep, as I remember they were a dead ringer of a caricature for Bill. I am not sure they had his name on them, but they were no doubt styled after him.

    • Kathy

Exactly, Peggy Sue! Everyone thought the nutcracker was hilarious as well as the “bros before hos” shirts and the picture of Hillary replacing a syllable in the I love Country music shirt. It was okay to wear Sarah Palin is a B*tch. I am so SICK of the boo-hooing over racism seen everywhere while we’re told we’re bitter b*tches if we complain about the sexism we live with everyday.

    • http://noquarter foxyladi14

every critical word against precious is RACIST.yep…

  • Ashy1

Well, this just goes to show that some people simply can’t appreciate fine art.

Now seriously. When I first saw it, I thought it was a silly looking thing, and I figured that sooner or later it would offend some soul out there aching to be offended. It’s not racist–it’s just silly looking. I wonder what took so long, but then there was so much stuff out there–coins, books, commemorative plates–which I hear is now finding its way into the discount bins. It was bound to happen with so much over-exposure.

“…he surely isn’t worried about over-exposure!” Good point, Sassy.

  • nickoury

The actual reason it’s being pulled from sale is because they failed to include a reguired safety label warning of the dangers of being placed in front of, near or in the vicinity of a teleprompter for fear of unwanted, uncontrollabe, rampant reforestation.

  • Claire

    Where can I get one?

  • KarenG

Shoot, I was looking for something to keep my George Bush chia pet company…..

  • I’mFedUp

These azzholes have no problem defacing an American Flag, pissing on the Constitution, trying to remove any references to religion in this country, etc. However, anything that remotely makes them itchy about Frankenbama involves police action and it’s a racist conspiracy. Give me a break. And, by the way, they’re probably just pissed that the Chia plant could do a better job of running this country.

    • trixta

Chia for president! At least Chia Pet would be a truly green prez.

  • andrew191

If I understand correctly, the seeds for chia (or is the plural for chia, chias) are Alf Alfa seeds. If your a fan of “Spanky and Our Gang” you would know that Alf Alfa was white, so how could this matter be racist? Now if they used Buckwheat seeds, that might be a different matter.

  • politicalidentitycrisis

So does that mean the Hillary chia pet is sexist???

Isn’t there a way to present those commemorative plates as racist? Or the gold coins?

I think it’s just racist to have a black President who got in by affirmative action and not skills. Let’s just remove him and vote by qualifications and not color this time.

Oh, I suppose that’s racist, too.

  • http://thesibylspeaks.wordpress.com/ Anthony

    I love it!

Chia even has different poses you can order it in.

Check it out – I’m sending one to the Queen of England before he does!

    http://www.chiaobama.com/

    • http://noquarter foxyladi14

oh.she will love that.she can listen him on her new obama i pod and feed his chia head at the same time..that should keep her busy.plus she can give it hair(grass)cuts from time to time..

    • http://deleted Buzz Latte

I am sending for the smiley chia obama. It/he looks stoned with the squinty eyes and the shyt eating grin.

It’s probably the one closest to real life.

  • Illinois_gal

Good grief! What is a matter with these people? For one thing, he is half white!! Does that mean that only half the chia is considered to be racist? The black part is a no-no, but the white side is ok.

There are folks running around with t-shirts that reads “My President Is Black” on them. What if I wore a t-shirt that said “My President Is White” the next time a white person wins? Oh yeah… that’s racist!! They need to give up the double standard cause it isn’t cutting it anymore. Get on one side of the fence or the other.

  • ziggy

It’s a fundamental right of every American to own a Chia Obama or an Obama Bobblehead! What better items could we Obamabots find to burn our incense around and leave our little daily offerings before? The only thing I find objectionable is that they’re manufactured in China.

I suppose I might detect a hint of racism in the lawn jockeys made in his likeness. (Actually available below.)

    http://www.jollyobama.com/obama_lawn_jockey.html

On the other hand, I am conflicted about the message. The working electric lantern the Obama Lawn Jockey holds is solar charged. This could represent a powerful energy policy statement! And I could always befuddle the neighbors by replacing the lantern with an American flag.

    • elise

ziggy for a moment there I began to think you actually understood the absurdity of this ignorant idea and then, I clicked on the link. I don’t know who or what diysinfo@yahoo.com and I will never go there, but I believe this “hate” is coming from Obama supporters. Why would you post a link to a garbage site like that? Now I believe you are exactly what so many here at nq have said you are. STUPID AND NASTY.

      • ziggy

Sorry for any offense given. Actually I found the Obama Jockey site quite funny. Although I think I know, I’m not 100% certain who the butt of the joke really is. Absurdity is clearly part of their statement.

To be clear about my own position, I think the Chia Obama protestors are also absurd. They’re the other side of the lunacy coin. What’s even more absurd–and troubling–is that Walgreens would take such people seriously. Laughing about it seems like the only alternative to weeping.

        • TeakwoodKite

Walgreens would take such people seriously

          Can you say ACORN?

  • decentAmerican

Sheesh, remember “Barbara’s Bush”? Now THAT was offensive. Were there protests? nope.

But you all should know by now that anything that portrays the Usurper in anything less than white robes and a halo around his head is racist. Why, the MSM are afraid to even report on his embarassing and disgusting bowing before the Saudi king.

How can they say something about an AA President bowing and appearing subservient before another?

    Racist.

The Usurper has America held hostage with this nonsense.

  • elise

Emenim has made a video about Sarah Palin which should be loudly protested. I don’t know if there has been an organized opposition yet, but I hope we can do something even if it’s just not allowing our children and grandchildren from purchasing anything this man has ever done. The chia Obamas are racist? I thought they were part of the Obama worship. It’s beyond absurd.

    • Sabina

Well, Elise please bring that to the attention of the NQ writers, we need to protest, write letter to his record company.

Oh forget it, anything about a woman, is ignored. If Eminem was saying something racist there would be so much outroar, his record lable would even drop him. But say anything about a woman, and the record lable will just brush it off as satire.

      • elise

Sabina, I know what “hopeless” feels like and I’m so tired of fighting. How many phone calls and emails does it take before one gives up? Tonight I think I’ve reached my limit, but tomorrow I’ll probably remember nothing worthwhile is easy.

  • tillthen

Hmmm, Bill Clinton, Angry White People…now Chia.

  • TeakwoodKite

I got the one called TOTUS.

No really, one arrived in the mail courtesy of my sane half, unannounced.

It is the “determined” BO. Determined about what he has not shown. I am petrified to open the box for fear of damaging the collectible value….

Man, I so want to pour water on him… (from a great height.)

    • FLDemFem

I want to leave a dozen eggs out in the sun for a few days for tossing the next time he drops into visit FL. Never mind water, I want rotten eggs tossed at him. Like to like, I always say. Rotten eggs for the rotten egg.

  • wodiej

good grief, what do they think ISN’T racist??

O’Reilly had a segment on last night about Emineim and he was clearly disturbed by the Palin video. Had to stop himself a couple times from calling Em some nasty name. He wouldn’t show the whole clip because he said he was so disgusted by it.

Eminem is a worthless piece of crap anyway.
