Then there are people like Michael Vick. He is not salvageable, imho. He was raised in a culture that permitted vicious mistreatment of dogs and was an early instigator of dog fights. (Btw, Larry Johnson’s dear friend Pat Lang was instrumental in getting state charges filed against Vick in Virginia — he’d first been charged federally. Pat Lang is a crusty, tough guy, but he loves animals, especially dogs, and he has complete contempt for Vick and his like.)

ALSO: I am sickened by people who do not take care of their pets. There’s a neighbor whose dog has some awful skin condition, probably mange. I mentioned to another neighbor that I think we should call the local shelter, and I’ve placed a preliminary call, but they need to investigate first.

Anyway the other neighbor — who dates a guy who grew up on a “hippie farm” up in the hills here — told me blithely that “all of the dogs at the farm have mange.” As if that makes it alright. I fell silent. I didn’t know what to say because if I did say anything, I knew I’d erupt.

I don’t usually get in fights anymore but fifteen years ago I was a pool champion and controlled several tables at local taverns.
Every once and a while a punk would walk in with his girl and in public degrading her with the C word and other demeaning sexist language.
When the guy started shoving his girl that is when I walked over and told him to stop pushing her around and using the C word…

The guy with his pride wanted to fight me outside the Tavern…So I went outside
I usually don’t throw the first punch and can take a sucker punch if needed to win..
So the guy hit me first and then I went into action. I fake that I’m going to punch with my right hand but then like Ali I give him the full force of my left hook.
One punch is all that it takes to knock down a sexist coward. I really enjoyed myself that day!!

Good point. Just horrible. Hopefully he sees these losers for who they are and he can heal through the sorrow of this huge loss.

Even worse. Here is a soldier who is still on point while at home because of the war.

My heart goes out to him and his family. We had an animal intentionally killed by someone….it is hard to imagine even while it is happening that people could be so cruel.

Obviously, our animal didn’t represent fallen brothers….
