I’ve watched the video a couple of times. Without seeing his face it’s hard to know what was actually being conveyed by the gesture, but a deliberate bow was clearly part of the moment. Unless, of course, the floor was slick. (Sorry. Couldn’t resist.)

Another theory about the denial might be that the White House has a pretty clear idea who’s taking the whole thing very seriously and is deliberately messing with their heads. I lived in Japan for 15 years, as well as China and Korea. I bowed every day to someone, its part of the greeting and definitely indicates respect. which, I am sure, President Clinton was trying to show also. There was not one day during his celebrity tour that he did not say or do things that no other American president would ever, ever do, especially on camera, to a foreign crowd, or on foreign soil. People need to wake up! These questions you wrote are the exact types of questions we need to be asking about this man. There are way too many oddities for them to be an accident or ignorance.

He stood before huge crowds basking in the attention and behaving as if he was at one of his hyped-up campaign events. He continually criticized and derided the US. He ignored the good deeds we have done and gave credit to others. I recall how he praised European countries for bringing down the Berlin Wall, completely omitting the US from the occassion. If he were to chastise other nations as he does us there would be a major revolt against the US.

Does he have any enthusiasm or pride in our history? Our great nation grew from a hostile wilderness to organized colonies within a couple hundred years. There were no grocery stores or McDonalds. No wells. No health care. No food stamps. No 911 to call for protection. No laundry soap. No clothing stores. It’s unimaginable. The settlers suffered and fought through unspeakable adversity for a better life because they actually had values and morals and virtues that they believed in.

During the revolution the military was poorly equipped and poorly funded. During the last winter all they had to eat was a mixture of flour and water baked over a fire. A third died, a third deserted, and a third managed to survive. And they still managed to kick the British out.

Our constituion formed a government which for the first time ever placed responsibility for the people’s freedom and governance in the hands of the people. And it worked! The colonists were not saints, but they understood that a free society could only survive if it was a virtuous society. They were willing to sacrifice their own self-interest for the sake of their country.

The US grew and prospered at a staggering pace. And because Americans are so charitable, we carried much of the world on our backs into prosperity with us. Oh, and we did that while fighting a few wars to save them. Even when we are hurting, we are the most charitable nation in the world. But to hear Obama speak, the US is so horrible that we will never be able to do enough to make up for our crimes – as if we are the scum of the earth.

More people immigrate here than anywhere in the world – millions each year. Churches, community centers, volunteers, gov. agencies across the country reach out to help them regardless of which door they come in. We are the most integrated and welcoming nation on earth. Yet Obama accuses us of being haters of anyone who is not like us.

The founders believed they received divine guidance in the founding of our nation; we have their writings and there are references to God on our early documents and symbols. Without the founding principles of what they called Nature’s Law, instead of being virtuous and charitable, they would have destroyed each other.

Obama spoke in the Muslim country of Turkey and lied to them stating that we are not a nation based on any religious beliefs or principles. He assured them that we are not at war with Islam. Then, when he was asked to comment on the current torturing of women in Afgan. and Pakistan under Sharia law and how our military would be able to tolerate fighting for a country that tortures women he blew it off – said that we had to keep our focus on the reason we were there.

I ramble on about this side of Obama because it is so upsetting and outrageous that a president could treat his own country and fellow citizens with such disdain. I can’t understand it. Is it possible to say these things but act with the nation’s best interest at heart? There are so many questions about the events of the past 11 weeks. What is going on that we don’t know about? Who is this guy and what motivates him? Why do I feel like I’m in the dark?

Either there is more going on than we know about or THIS MAN IS A BLOOMIN’ IDIOT!

American presidents have always spoken out about human rights; one president (Lincoln) fought a whole Civil War about human rights. Since Soertoro/Obama is supposed to have so much world “influence”, speaking out against Sharia law and so called “honor” killings of young women would be a perfect place to use this influence against the barbaric code of “honor killings”. But it’s kind of hard to get a king to listen to you when you are groveling at his feet.

It’s hard to believe that, as a woman, you showed more compassion for Soertoro/Obama caught genuflecting to a Saudi ruler than compassion for those young girls killed by members of their own family.
