Hillary Sexism Watch: Castrating Bitch Edition

By Melissa McEwan of Shakespeare’s Sister blog

Part Seventy-Six in an Ongoing Series. (Previous parts linked at end of post.)

Are you fucking kidding me, Josh Marshall? Because I quite honestly can’t believe that a person who identifies as a progressive and has two brain cells still knocking together doesn’t understand why it’s problematic, to put it charitably, to frame Hillary Clinton pushing her male chief strategist from power as “gelding” him.

* * *

I find it difficult to believe that a man of your intelligence doesn’t know that “to geld” means to castrate, and I find it similarly difficult to believe that a man of your experience doesn’t know that powerful women are routinely cast as castrating bitches, and I further yet find it difficult to believe, in light of your constant reminders that you’ve spent a good part of your adult life defending the Clintons, that you are totally unaware of the existence of “hilarious” novelty items like the Hillary Clinton nutcracker.

So where exactly is the disconnect, Josh, that allows you to use such disgusting language in reference to a sitting senator and presidential candidate? Or any woman, for that matter.

With “allies” like these…

[Hillary Sexism Watch: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen, Sixteen, Seventeen, Eighteen, Nineteen, Twenty, Twenty-One, Twenty-Two, Twenty-Three, Twenty-Four, Twenty-Five, Twenty-Six, Twenty-Seven, Twenty-Eight, Twenty-Nine, Thirty, Thirty-One, Thirty-Two, Thirty-Three, Thirty-Four, Thirty-Five, Thirty-Six, Thirty-Seven, Thirty-Eight, Thirty-Nine, Forty, Forty-One, Forty-Two, Forty-Three, Forty-Four, Forty-Five, Forty-Six, Forty-Seven, Forty-Eight, Forty-Nine, Fifty, Fifty-One, Fifty-Two, Fifty-Three, Fifty-Four, Fifty-Five, Fifty-Six, Fifty-Seven, Fifty-Eight, Fifty-Nine, Sixty, Sixty-One, Sixty-Two, Sixty-Three, Sixty-Four, Sixty-Five, Sixty-Six, Sixty-Seven, Sixty-Eight, Sixty-Nine, Seventy, Seventy-One, Seventy-Two, Seventy-Three, Seventy-Four, Seventy-Five.]

Few have fallen as far into the Obamavoid as Josh Marshall has. It must have something to do with his trying to cover-up his early support of the War with Iraq.

A huge disappointment. But I gues “The Kool(aid) Kids all like him now.

MOMMY…MOMMY…MOMMY… I wish these people would go to a therapist and take care of their Mommiy issues…. It’s getting embarassing…

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Forgive me if this sounds too cynical, but I think it occurred to him to use the term, and he realized that his pro-Obama audience would eat it up. If that’s true, he felt it more important to please his audience than to avoid sexist terms.

  • sajo

OT OT OT OT OT OT

    Dear Larry Johnson:
    I have been
searching in vain for a new essay from you, opening the big topic of the latest Clinton campaign set-back, involving Chief Campaign Strategist Mark Penn, who was also moon lighting as a trade lobbyists, seemingly contradicting the policy publicly announced by Sen. Clinton.

One would think this is at least as big a story as the former Clinton defense attorney, Craig, now involved with the Obama campaign, which you believed warranted his disbarment.

Does choosing and abiding by Lobbyist Penn’s campaign strategy raise questions about Clinton’s judgment and management abilities?
Is Mark Penn going to hang on with the campaign after the embarrassment because the Clinton campaign still owes him about $ 2.5 million?
    We await your words…

  • http://noratings.blogspot.com/ Bud White

I think you’re right. Sexism is part of the game. Billary, Hitlery, Mrs. Bill…..very common name-calling on TPM. Markos, in my opinion, is the worse. Like Marshall, Markso has a Titanic ego, a powerful Web site, a cult-following, an elitist attitude, and a healthy dose of sexism. all the ingredients to be a blogger boy.

  • rjj

If it isn’t castration anxiety it’s lewinsky envy.

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Mary Jo Kopechne

Too cynical? Susan, I think you’re completely right.

Of course he knows what a freaking gelding is and his whole point is to entertain the Hateful Obama Followers by joining in the Blogger Boyz’s weenie wagging. It’s one big circle jerk!

    ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHH

  • SJ

I see there is a new site up by Patti Solis Doyle for a combine ticket of Hillary and Obama, I would really want to know why??

I love Hillary dearly but sorry I cant be part of that nonsense. Could some one please investigate what is the thinking behind this new push by Patti.

  • Anna F.

I agree totally. Of course in Josh Marshall’s case, the little boy whose mother abandoned him by getting killed in a car accident when he was nine can never be forgiven.

Poor little abandoned Josh Marshall, full of anger and rage at women. They can never be trusted not to hurt you, right Josh?

  • Hope

    Or Penis Plenty!

  • Mr.Murder

Josh Marshall supported the invasion of Iraq, his penance for that is to blame others and push Obama forward.

Even though Obama has never admitted he’d end the occupation within four years. In fact he never puts a date on when he’d end things, just says that he would ‘eventually’ end the troop deployments ‘at the current levels.’ That isn’t counting Blackwater, a firm he’s currently a fan of, Marshall really hasn’t been too critical of those items.

Josh Marshall, gelded, or ready for the Elmer’s glue bottle?

  • Kevin

You’ve got to be freakin’ kidding me. As out there as this phrasing was for Marshall – Noquarter has done similar if not worse… and to spend a single iota of energy on slamming him and the site just goes to show how far things have disintegrated.

Rather than discussing issues and policy differences between the 3 candidates – this site and others merely wallow in throwing mud at one another (“opposition sites” and the opposition in general).

    Pretty damn sad.

Seriously – if you, like alot of the commentors have no regards for Mr. Marsh because he’s an “Obamatron”, etc. then why waste time pointing fingers and yelling “see we told you so!”?

    ROFL

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

You have to excuse them. I’m of the theory that the size of the ego is of direct inverse proportion to the size of the penis. I’m sure many of you have actually confirmed this in practice. You could see this is an epidemic problem what with so many of them having such large egos. They are all just very angry that they can no longer make it difficult for women to read maps, because we have figured out that four inches isn’t really six inches.

Leave them be. They weep and worry while their wives secretly can’t wait to go to the voting booth. Some of them who are alone still bring their laundry home to their mothers, you know. I have witnessed this. Later, they sit at the keyboard and Roar so that they might feel more virile than they actually are in real life.

  • John

Anyone else catch Tom Hartmann filling in for Randi Rhodes this afternoon? He talked about how Sexism is at least as rampant in America as Racism– AFTER he had David Sirota (sic) on to repeat the baldfaced lie that “the Clintons” had made the campaign all about race by calling Obama the “black candidate” in South Carolina. Hartmann didn’t challenge him for evidence- its just gospel now, like Gore claiming to have invented the internet.

Shame on Hartmann. Good for him for taking on Sexism, shame on him for not calling out Sirota for lying his ass off about Clinton. You fail.

  • B-Rob

Yeah . . . whining about sexism is a GREAT way to show you are ready to lead the free world.

Do you think Golda Meir cried when she did not get her way? What about Maggie Thatcher? Think she ever boo-hooed about people not being nice to her during he Falklands War. Benezir Bhutto stared down assassins and laughed at them . . . but Hillary can’t take a ribbing over her idiotic campaign manager?

Even closer to home Bela Abzug? Ella Grasso? Di Feinstein? Condi Rice? You think THEY whined about the unfair press they got? No! They buck up, take it, and move on.

If Hillary and Co. cannot handle asking if her a-hole of a campaign manager (who, mind you, was meeting with a foreign government about lobbying for a free trade pact her opponant opposes . . . real smart!) — if her manager was NOT gelded for acting like a moron, then that, too, speaks volumes about her poor judgment.

  • B-Rob

“AFTER he had David Sirota (sic) on to repeat the baldfaced lie that “the Clintons” had made the campaign all about race by calling Obama the “black candidate” in South Carolina”

Please identify all the “race based” statements Obama made prior to South Carolina.

And none of you have yet explained why Bill Clinton compared an elected US Senator from a major state who won the first election fight, to a loser like Jesse Jackson who, as Marion Berry once said, d”doesn’t want to run nothin’ but his mouth.” So have at it: why DID BC compare Obama and Jesse Jackson if NOT for their race?

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Condi Rice is a woman? I had no idea!

  • B-Rob

“Condi Rice is a woman? I had no idea!”

Do you want me to ask whether you are buying into the same dismissal of Black women as “women” that always pisses Black women off about White women? Or would you like to retract you statement?

  • Kevin

it occurred to him only as much as using terms related to sexism, etc. seem to spring to mind for Hillary supporters – oh, it wasn’t a conscious decision?

Seriously, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. No pun intended…

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Mary Jo Kopechne

I can’t remember if you’re a troll or not, Kevin. If so, I apologize for wasting my time. Clearly you discern the relationship between the means and the goal.

Josh Marshall’s allegiance to Obama is evidenced by his celebration of misogyny, and his allegiance to misogyny is evidenced by his devotion to Obama. Cart and horse? Horse and cart?

BTW, a lot is two words.

  • B-Rob

Solis miust be smokin’ some good shit . . . otherwose why would the Number One candidate, Obama, take a second seat behind someone he has already beaten? Doesn’t make sense . . . like asking the NY Giants to “share” the trophy with the Patriots. Giant fan to Pats fans: “Get your own f*cking trophy.”

The reality is — with the condescending way that Hillary has handled Obama, she should be happy to even be considered for a VP position, nonetheless expecting that the guy who beat the snot out her in the campaign would take a back seat to her. Alas, we know Hillary will never take the number two position. Why? Because as a friend put it, “Miss Daisy doesn’t drive!”

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

May as well let idiots like this Josh get his practice in on insulting Hillary now because eight years is a long time to try to come up with clever and witty insults…especially about someone who actually is competent. Hillary ’08!

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

I was waiting for the racist remark. You see, the Obama camp can’t handle the same thing you are telling us to suck up. Since we can’t hold you to the same standard you demand from us, well then we will just tell you to suck it up, sexist pig. Barack Obama goes into the fetal position every tiem somebody corners that rat, and you come here having the audacity to tell us that we can’t take it.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

And no I do NOT wish to retract my statement.

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Mary Jo Kopechne

Wow! Chumming the waters with misogyny really brings the misogynists to the fore.

B-Rob, saying that Marshall has been gelded implies that someone did the gelding. And gelding is also known as castrating. Since that someone would be Hillary Clinton, the not-so-subtle implication is that HRC castrated Marshall.

Now, while I can well imagine that castrating certain men would be doing the world a big favor, it is a misogynist slur to call a woman ” a castrator.”

    Hope that helps clarify.

  • Kevin

I know, I spell it that way alot of times

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

It was the wrench in the engine effect. It’s Hillary Clinton’s fault.

  • jes

The primary season is not over and Obama has not beaten Clinton. He is ahead by, I believe, approximately 1% of the delegates at this point.

Contrary to the MSM propoganda that they spew forth on a daily basis, that’s not a whole lot of daylight between the two candidates.

  • John

I don’t respond to drooling troll morons like Kevin and B-Rob, but I appreciated your reply anyway. The funniest part is when they finally say “I’ve had it with you idiots, you are pathetic…” then come back in a day or two for more.

I really wish they would lose interest in lecturing us with their pathetic faux logic and just. go. away.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

    Oh but it’s fun!

  • B-Rob

What does the “Obama camp” have to do with you questioning the femininity of a Black woman, Condi Rice? I said nothing about him. I simply pointed out that there is a long history of White women dismissing the “womanness” of Black women. If you knew more Black women, you might grasp what I am talking about.

You have two choices: educate yourself on why your comment about Condi Rice might be offensive to some Black women, or you can curl into your shell and claim that I am attacking you because you support that loser Hillary Clinton.

But here is a hint — the racial “tin ear” that White Hillary supporters have is kind of breathtaking to me. Makes me wonder whether the conservatives were right all along about the unadmitted racism of White liberals.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Yeah I know. Calling his Iraq stance a “fairy tale” is clearly racist.

Now run along, nobody wants you here race baiting. We don’t really care what you think, sexist pig.

  • B-Rob

“B-Rob, saying that Marshall Penn has been gelded implies that someone did the gelding.”

It could have been Wolfson or BC or any one of the other male idiots who have gotten Hillary where she is now that cut the balls off Penn. You jumped to the conclusion, of course, that he has to be talking about HC.

Besides — I don’t see anyone making the argument that he should NOT have been castrated for his idiotic cashing in with Colombia the SAME WEEK Obama drew attraction to the issue by OPPOSING the same trade deal! W.t.f.?

But another thing — how can you have someone who is NOT EVEN PERFORMING WELL embarrass your losing campaign that way and NOT FIRE THEM OUTRIGHT? I wonder how many superdelegates that “decisive action” cost HC! Oh, well! An incompetent opponent always makes the job a little easier.

I get a sense that a large chunk of Obama’s fans are mainly repentant but never the less “unrepentant” former war backers.

The level of the argument over the IWR was almost childish both in the debates and the blogs.

It’s also the product of completely misunderstanding why Kerry lost in 2004.

It wasn’t that Kerry had initially backed the IWR that the voters returned Bush: it was that Bush was still selling victory.

The Dems are still essentially promising a retreat, but at least it is honestly presented. The Republicans are lying about the future. They know that they will eventually see American troops run off in ignominy.

“There are AA women on this site this very moment, posting in this very thread who will tell you that Condi Rice can’t hold a candle to Hillary Clinton, particularly in the Human Rights department.”

You are changing the subject, of course. I did not post about Obama or about HC. I posted about your insensitive comment about a Black woman’s femininity. I challenged you to view your comments in a historical perspective, and you played the “some of my fellow posters are Black” argument — as if that excuses your comments!

Like I said, you folks very much have a tin ear.

“We don’t really care what you think, sexist pig.”

You played into a racial stereotype that dates back to Aunt Jemima and Sapphire. Yet you are too comfortable in your superiority to acknowledge it. That’s your issue, sister, not mune.

  • Ron from S.F.

Comparing being fired to castration falls into the category of “really bad analogy.” I have lost several jobs and still have kept my cojones. Doesn’t it matter to anyone that the guy put himself into an obvious conflict of interest? That was pretty stupid of him. Like buying the knife for his own castration.

As for Condi Rice, it is hard to see how she has managed to keep her job. Was she more of a flop as National Security Advisor or Secretary of State? Has she performed some “special” service for the decider in chief? Something diplomatic for the boss? It can’t be for political acumen. She doesn’t even know that noone runs for Vice President. That candidate is picked by the Presidential nominee.

  • B-Rob

“She doesn’t even know that noone runs for Vice President.”

And yet Hillary, who is NOT the nominee, is already angling for who will be her No. 2 . . . and it’s the guy who is BEATING HER?

  • B-Rob

I call you out on your use of an ignorant racial stereotype of a Black women, yet I am the “sexist bigot”? And I bet you Hill-bots wonder why no Black people are supporting your side, don’t you?

  • B-Rob

    “Obama is a wimp.”

The sentence should be “President Obama is a wimp”

  • B-Rob

It is “sexist” to point out when a White woman is using a racial stereotype against a Black woman?

    OK . . . .

  • B-Rob

There is enough daylight that all she sees is his ASS!

  • Joe

I’ll tell you what the basic problem is. These “progressives” are so intent on showing off and proving that they can write as well as Norman Mailer or Tom Wolfe that they trip over themselves using graduate school level vocabulary that they are not that familiar with themselves.

  • simon

Does choosing and abiding by Lobbyist Penn’s campaign strategy raise questions about Clinton’s judgment and management abilities?

Not at all, wow, do you really believe what you wrote?

Not answering for Larry, but Clinton saw a problem with Penn, and released him, immediately. That, to me, is indicative of superior judgement, even integrity, courage, a BOLD move in a place where defiance is mistaken for sound judgement, and emotional strength. Bratty, personality disordered teenagers are defiant, world leader want to bees should be mature, and intelligent, able to manage chaos, form solutions around it, rather than flee from it, in fear, by boldy doing nothing, advocating on behalf of their half wits.

Obama, on the other hand, for some strange reason, keeps on those old grey mares, none of whom seem to do anything, but, “operate.”

Yeah, Obama hired a bunch of operators, what do they do, again?

Ah–look–all of this proves that very little has changed in the male chauvinist attitudes toward women who are not the push-overs that most of under-endowed males prefer. I read on a Washington Post blog today that a woman attending a campaign event raved about Hillary Clinton but did not give her name because her husband would not allow it (I assume “it” was her enthusiasm for Senator Clinton).
This is utterly incomprehensible in 2008–especially because it comes from two directions: the right and the far left wing.
The moral of this sad story is clear: They all will help to elect John McCain. Call him war-monger or not–he will keep us in Iraq and get us into more wars.

For your scenario to apply, Barak would be running to be Hillary’s VP. Most of us would call that absurd. Believe me. Noone runs for VP. I heard one VP say you have two jobs. (1) call the White House every morning and ask how the President is feeling. (2) Preside over the Senate. Noone in their right mind would do that voluntarily. That is why the VP is seldom there.

  • Andy

    Ron:
I very much agree with you if we base our judgment on the facts–but I am afraid that reality is not what counts for George W. or, as a matter of fact, for war hero McCain. While I can have compassion for the sufferings of former POW McCain, it becomes more obvious every day that he and his supporters are not very different from Giuliani.
Whereas the former NY City mayor’s campaign agenda was boiled down to “a noun, a verb and 9/11″ according to Senator Biden, Senator McCain’s and his supporters’ theme is best summarized as “a noun, a verb, and Vietnam POW.”
    We need better than that.

  • Nellie

    Totally Agree!

I was writing that in a wee bit of an ironic style. Just a wee bit. (Of course he wrote that to titillate his pro-Obama audience. And he didn’t care if it was unseemly or sexist. He wanted to get a rise out of his followers.)

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Obama is an unacceptable choice for any woman who has ever busted her ass to educate herself only to bust her ass twice as hard to make it in The Company. We recognize him.

Younger sisters, do not be complacent. It’ wasn’t always this easy and the whittling is occurring, by degrees so small you do not recognize them. One day you will wake up and say How Did This Regression Occur? Some of us have the scars from this battle. Do not throw it away to misogynists. You WILL live to regret it.

I’ve busted my ass to get educated, and busted my ass at work as well. I’ve dealt with plenty of idiots who underestimated my tenacity and toughness because I am a woman. My first day on the job I had to stand up to two men who were used to deciding things for the female coworkers and had the nerve to tell me that I had no right to an opinion. I respect Hillary’s toughness and confidence, but I don’t agree with those who think that every attack on her is an example of misogyny.

That aside, I would vote for just about ANY Democrat over John McCain. His philosophy on war would be very dangerous for our country.

I have no problem with voting for down ticket dems and not voting for anyone or writing Hillary in for pres if BO gets the nomination, none whatsoever. I won’t vote for McCain, but at this point, I won’t vote for BO either. Maybe my opinion will change with time if he gets the GE, but I seriously doubt it. He lost me when he tried to demonize the Clintons and paint them as racist. He is not likely to win me back.

He took a calculated risk when he did this to try to firm up his AA support, but it will backfire on him in the long run. Anybody who isn’t a racist can understand how this was played like a fine tuned fiddle. Probably the only way he will get my vote is have Hillary as a VP, even then I’m not certain I would vote for him.

Either he is arrogant beyond belief or he has an extreme deficit in judgment, i.e., Rezko, Wright and using the race card against the Clintons, I don’t think he will make a good president.

It’s a lot more important that the dems dominate the house and senate then get the presidency and anyone that doesn’t get this, doesn’t understand some very basic things about civics.

  • PMS

He called Hillary “reckless” four times today, is that acceptable to you? Are 100 more years of war in Iraq acceptable to you? Is voting against a bill to ban water boarding acceptable to you?

Except for the last point, those are all “politics”. Obama’s advisors have already signaled that there may not be a ‘time limit” on W’s excellent adventure in Iraq.

McCain has been quite outspoken against torture, but in the end, he supported Bush to secure the nomination. It’s the real world.

Obama’s real world includes Ayers and Wright and Farrakhan, and they (and their mindset) pose a bigger threat to our security.

I see, addressing the ugliness of sexism where it exists is whining, but calling racism where it clearly does not exist is legitimate, in your opinion?

You know, you are embarrassing yourself and are a terrible advertisement for your candidate.

Although we already knew that, that’s one of the reasons many of us became Clinton voters. Supporters like you!

  • Regency

Even in this way BO surpasses him.

    “hope, change, and a lie”–eh, “a speech.”

  • http://speaktruth speaktruth

What the f- are you talking about?

Go away now, you are too ugly and you are racist and it isn’t funny any more.

And no, you can’t intimidate us here by playing the race card. We aren’t having it because we know who we are.

And you are the racist and we don’t tolerate that here.

  • yikes

Given the reluctance of the house and senate to live up to their role as a check to the abuses of power by the current administration in the White House, I respectfully disagree.

The president can do a whole lot of harm given his or her ability to nominate department heads, nominate judges (and I’m not just talking about the Supreme Court), control the military, and interact with foreign leaders. I think that four more years of Republican rule would be devastating to our country.

As for the racism issue, I watched what happened in South Carolina for myself and interpreted them very differently from how most of the people here did. I was very offended by Bill’s comments well before I saw any media or campaign interpretation of them. I was so upset that I was ready to refuse to vote for Hillary. I have since realized that the stakes are just too high to stay angry. I think that there has been a tendency for both sides to jump on accusations of racism and sexism. I will gladly vote for either Hillary or Obama regardless of how upset I may have felt during the primary season.

Yes and should The Fix be in, we will work VERY hard to defeat him. And I’m not even including Florida and Michigan who were blocked from revoting by I-Want-To-Win-So-Screw-You Obama and his goons. Tell me, does he expect to win a race with states like Mississippi now that he has screwed two major swing states? I mean in November, Republicans usually vote too, you know what I mean? This is a state that hasn’t been carried by Democrats since the 60s. I could give more examples but Obama is gonna “fix” that right?

If the Fix goes through, I can’t wait to watch that wimp go into the fetal position and suck his thumb when the swift boats hit him. I am going to laugh every day watching it. With glee. You think the Republicans give a shit if Obama whines every time somebody questions him? You think that dreaming up a reason for the Race card is going to work then huh? You think they aren’t going to talk about Ayers and Kahlidi and Farrakhan, the Black Panthers, and that sweet man Wright? We are talking about serious racists and Bigots here, all on video for the picking. Weatherman Bombers. Oh that’s rich. Really rich. They are going to give him a pass right? You think they aren’t going to take his Memoirs and turn them into what they really are?: Memoirs Pulled From My Ass? Do you know how many lies that twit told in his book? They do. Do you think all those children are going to show up to vote if there’s a good party to attend? So did George McGovern and he was a better man on his worst day than Barack Obama. Do you think that the GE is going to be run like those caucuses where busloads of vicious college animals shoved people around? Really? Nope. One Vote, One Person. The kind of stuff that Barack doesn’t do too well at. Old Man McCain won’t even have to leave the house to beat this character, and I am going to help make it happen.

He can go down now or he can go down later. Whatever.

  • yttik

Great post, Uppity. You are absolutely right.

I guess in a way Obama really could become the unity candidate. If he’s nominated he may unite Republicans and Democrats against him. I guess that’s what he means by “change.”

  • mimi

I keep saying this, Obama’s taking a whole lot of folks down with him. Walk the plank, people. Drink your kool-aid and then walk the plank!

  • mimi

“with the condescending way that Hillary has handled Obama…”

You’re obviously dyslexic. You have that backwards. He’s played the race card, he’s been sexist. And neither he nor Michelle have apologized for misquoting Bill Clinton. Michelle stated in an article that she wanted to scratch his eyes out and furthermore that she would never campaign for Senator Clinton.

Yet, an article in the WSJ today qouted a one of Obama’s top officials as saying that they weren’t concerned about Obama’s declining poll numbers and the discension between the two camps. All that will change according to him in the GE because Senator Clinton will be campaigning for Obama.

    Really?

Tell me, is Obama willing to camapaign for her should she get the nom? Is Michelle?

    Here’s what I’ve been saying:

    WIN WITHOUT ME!

    And I’ve added, this:

    Assholes!

  • Northwest rain

You are an idiot — Obama will NEVER be President.

He his pissed off a major voting block — and we will see the Wimp go down. And we will help to bring him down if he manages to take the nomination by blocking Florida and Michigan etc.

I also want to see Mrs. Obama and DB go down because I find the behavior of Mrs. Obama and Donna Brazile almost more offensive — because they are women who are abusing other women for the sake of their man.

  • mimi

It would also be nice to add that the Clintons were very conservative with their deductions considering their income, according to a tax specialist interviewed on CNN today. He took great pains to point this out and added that most people with that size income usually take way more deductions.

    Let’s see if that’s mentioned.

  • yttik

Relax everybody, Marshall didn’t mean gelding as in castration, he meant the other definition, “A tax paid to the crown by English landholders under Anglo-Saxon and Norman kings.”

See? It only takes a couple of drinks and you too can spin like an Obama supporter.

“a loser like Jesse Jackson “

Excuse me, but Jackson won 11 Primaries and registered 7 million people under the banner of his Rainbow Coalition. Notice that it was called a Rainbow Coalition, not a Black Coalition.

    Why?

Because in 1988, working poor people of all colors had had just about enough of ‘trickle down Reagan-nomics and Jackson attracted his fair share of multi-ethnic followers, blacks, latinos, Native Americans and even whites.

As an AA, I resent Jackson being called a ‘loser’ by you, while you exalt Barack Obama whose accomplishments and his commitment to the black community pale in comparison. Obama is only halfway through his first term as a US Senator and he hasn’t accomplished very much either in his 2 years. His 3rd year, he hasn’t done squat because he’s been too busy running for POTUS.

And to make matters worse, you quote a morally corrupt politician, a ‘crack addict’ felon, named Marion Barry to make your case. Barry is really an embarrassment and would have banished if only the AAs in DC had anything on the cap.

Obama should have been honored to have been compared to Jackson who, btw, ran a way more dignified and honorable campaign that didn’t cause nearly the divisiveness that Obama’s campaign has caused. And when it was over, Jackson united with the Democratic Party, was able to impact the Party Platform slightly and paved the way for many AAs like Ron Brown, for example, who became first the DNC Chariman as well as Secretary of Commerce under Bill Clinton. One thing’s for sure, Brown, as Chairman in 1992, didn’t allow nearly the chaos that Dean has allowed in 2008. He ran a tight ship, which is why Clinton tapped him for his Cabinet.

Your attitude is precisely the reason why I would never support Barck Obama. He has no regard for any AAs. He’s hoodwinked and bamboozled the black community into believing that he’s one of us even as he shows no regard nor commitment to our issues. He didn’t even show up at the MLK celebration, because, as Shelby Steele put it, “Obama’s back to running as a candidate who has transcended race, now that he feels he has weathered the Wright flap.” Trust me, that’s only temporary.

One more thing, Jesse Jackson paved the way for Obama. Without his run, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

  • Mr.Murder

Until Obama’s campaign boss David Axelrod steps back Hillary’s ahead of him in terms of abating the interest of potential conflicts.

In fact, Marsteller wasn’t making trips to the consulate on the Clinton Campaign’s behalf, as was Obama’s done by Austan Goolsbee, his chief economic adviser.

Has Goolsbee tendered a resignation yet from that position?
Has Axelrod resigned from the Obama campaign after doing lobby work for nuclear polluter Exelon, a company that bought up much of PA’s utilities providers?

A major PECO man and a major Illinois banker joined the Enron board for a while during the Enron takeover tries of PECO. Exelon of course, being the Illinois plant that has some major Obama bundlers/donors workinbg for them.

    Power provider’s largess

Obama’s biggest single source of corporate money ? $160,000 ? came from executives at Exelon Corp., the nation’s largest nuclear power provider, and its subsidiary, Commonwealth Edison, an Illinois utility.

Exelon spent $500,000 to influence policy in Washington last year. Although Obama took no money from Exelon’s Washington lobbyists, he accepted $1,000 checks from lobbyists John P. Novak and James Monk of Springfield. In Springfield, Novak represents Exelon., and Monk is president of the Illinois Energy Assn., a trade group that represents Commonwealth Edison.

Monk and Novak said they do not lobby in Washington. But their clients care about federal issues, including where to store nuclear waste and what restrictions to place on coal-fired plants.

“I’m not going to second-guess his policy,” Novak said. “I think it is appropriate for me to support a presidential candidate from Illinois.”

    http://www.caclean.org/content/problem/latimes_2007-04-22.php?path=problem/latimes_2007-04-22.php&

The story goes on to list other donors who have done lobby work, etc.

Lobbyists from other states also gave Obama money. In California, Obama accepted $2,300 from a partner whose lobbying firm represents AT&T, United Airlines and the Recording Industry Assn. of America in Sacramento.

Florida’s votes should not count, but its lobby money can?

In Tallahassee, Obama held a fundraiser attended by several statehouse lobbyists, taking checks from lobbyists for trial attorneys, the insurance industry, fast-food chains and sugar cane growers. State and federal issues often are related, as noted by the law firm Akerman Senterfitt, whose Florida-based members donated $7,000 to Obama. On its website, Akerman notes it combines Tallahassee connections with “an involved federal political action committee” to provide its clients “with an enviable level of access.”

Not just Florida is held to double standards by Obama’s position on lobby money.

On May 2, Obama is scheduled to attend a $2,300-per-ticket breakfast 10 blocks from the Capitol. The hosts include 22 lawyers. Although they are not federal lobbyists, three in the past have been registered lobbyists; they all work at firms that have Washington lobbying operations or hire outside lobbying firms to contact lawmakers.

That’s just part of the plan. Campaign as not taking money from the lobby, then schedule lobby visits after those races.

One lawyer co-hosting the Obama event has represented companies fending off litigation over toxic waste cleanup, and another represents employers on affirmative action requirements, force reduction and early retirement programs, their firms’ websites say.

Attorney Robert Sussman, one of the organizers, said in an interview that he was a registered lobbyist until recently, when he decided to help Obama raise money. So that he might do so, he said, the campaign requested that he drop his registration.

So he career is now ‘Professional Obama fundraiser,’ and his hobby is strictly lobby?

  • rwc

Marshall’s nasty insult reeks desperation, he knows that he needs to keep the obamabots coming back if he wants his blog to be a money maker since he drove away pro-Clinton and moderate Democrats away from his site.

So he tosses out lots of red meat for the rabid obamabots.

At least her campaign manager wasn’t meeting on her behalf to relay messages not to pay any attention to the campaign rhetoric as it relates to Canada and Nafta.

With regard to Golda and Thatcher. They didn’t have to deal with a country of misogynistic assholes like there are here in America. Great Britain, due to the monarchy, has a history replete with women leaders. Israelis are focused on their own good, unlike Americhan men who would rather have a weaker leader than a brilliant woman whose command of the issues is tremendous and fluid.

Benazir Bhutto is dead! Case closed on that front. As far as Feinstein and Rice are concerned, neither one of them has been in the media spotlight on a daily basis the way Hillary has since running for president. Not even Condi who has Bush riding shotgun for her. And we all know how brave the American people are when it comes to challenging Bush, especially the press corp. They’d rather beat up on Hillary than confront the man responsible for 4,000 troop deaths and counting, not to mention the countless Iraqis.

But I get that you’re too stupid to understand any of this.

  • rwc

Sirota is another morally and intellectually “progressive” fraud. He loves to use the racism card to shut down any criticism of Obama or Wright not to mention one the bloggers who labeled Hillary and Bill as racists.

He and Markos are two peas in a pod.

  • mimi

” the racial “tin ear” “

This coming from somebody who called Jesse Jackson a ‘loser.’ And tried to justify that remark by quoting a crack addict.

And yes, what does: “Condi is a woman” mean exactly? There’s got to be a better way to deal with this asshole.

  • mimi

“but I don’t agree with those who think that every attack on her is an example of misogyny.”

I also so don’t agree that every attack on Hillary is misogynist. But many have been in this campaign, like the way some in the press have referred to her and the terms they’ve used.

I also don’t think every challenge to Obama has stemmed from racism. I posted a comment above about that so-called racist remark of Biill Clinton’s tying Obama to Jesse Jackson. Bill was speaking about historical fact. If Obama wasn’t so busy trying to be black to black people and transcendent to white people, he and his legions of supporters would have seen no offense in the remark. What I’m offended by is the push to diminish an AA like Jackson who has made a solid contribution to the black community in his lifetime regardless of how white people feel about him.

Yet, time and time again every little comment is twisted by Obama and his people into a racist thing. Obama & Co even had the nerve to get bent out of shape over the white performer who mimicked him on SNL. Why did they use a white person, the asked? Well, excuse me, but Obama is half-white. Maybe SNL was parodying the white half.

  • Lyn

When I look at who Obama has surrounded himself, Rezko, Auchi, Ayers, Why would I trust him to pick heads of any department? I’m not sure he even likes America and I’m darn sure his wife doesn’t, so sorry I think McCain would pick better people than Obama.

  • yikes

I don’t care who impersonated him on SNL, and I don’t agree with Obama supporters who make too much of an issue of race either. I did find Bill’s Jesse Jackson comment a bit offensive. I didn’t need the media to interpret it for me, his intention was clear when he said it. As for it being “historical fact,” you must know that politicians are masters at using subtext to send a message. He’s hardly a novice at politics and he knew what kind of message he was sending. I was mad, but I’m over it. I still think he’s the best president we’ve had in recent years, I think it’s great that he’s earning tons of money speaking, and I think Chelsea is very lucky to have two dynamic and intelligent parents.

I don’t see Obama trying to be Black, but he has been accused of everything from not being Black enough to being too Black. He is what he is. It’s not always easy to be biracial. He’s at the same time part of both groups and yet not completely part of either.

If anyone has been trying to make race and gender big issues in this campaign, it’s the media. They are looking for every possible opportunity to stir that pot. Both campaigns are guilty of giving them fodder, although we probably disagree about who is more guilty contributing to the drama.

Josh has to pander to the Obamatrons because he’s lost all the libs with integrity or ethics.

What is amazing is that ANY woman would participate or accept the kind of tactics that the media and all the little boyz blogs have used to bring down a woman. They must wear the kind of blinders that allow them to only see any perceived racism, whether present or not, and not see sexism. Sexism being one of the two bigotries accepted in this country. Ageism being the other. So when you’re one of those old ladies for Hillary…

Don’t support her? Your right and fine with me. Accept the sexism and the piling on by both media and blogs and that’s not fine with me. Accepting attacks that would make a Republican gag are now simply sop with Obamatrons. Both male and female. And ain’t nothing progressive about that!
