let’s roll! (easter egg roll, that is)

The Obama’s and Biden’s welcomed 30,000 people from 48 states to the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll today. The focus of the day was on having fun, and moving!

Those tulips are just gorgeous!

Tapper wrote, “The President , wearing a jacket and no tie, then spoke but only got one word out before the microphone died. The president playfully pretended to test out the ear of the life-sized Easter bunny to see if his ear would have more luck broadcasting sound that the other defunct microphones.

After a few awkward moments, the Obama’s oldest daughter, Malia stepped to the mic for her own test and said, “”Is it on? Oh yeah,” when her trial worked, gaining praise from her sister who said, “go Malia!”.

“Hello everybody that’s Malia, our technical advisor,” the President joked.”

This year’s Easter Egg Roll theme is “Let’s Go Play,” with an emphasis on health and fitness. In addition to the traditional egg roll, there are a variety of activity stations. There is a kids’ kitchen and organic garden, a sports court with basketball and soccer, the “Hop to it!” area featuring jump rope, dance and yoga, a story time stage, and an arts and crafts station cleverly called “Eggpress Yourself.”

The day’s activities were all meant to encourage kids to lead healthy and active lives, something that Michelle has said will be one of the issues she addresses. I really hope she does take on child obesity. It is a cause that really needs attention in America. Considering how many Americans fawn over the Obama’s right now, it would be a great cause for her to tackle. Hopefully she can inspire families to get out and move, and eat healthier! Obesity and diabetes are huge drains on our healthcare system, too.

Sasha and Malia, and all the little kids running around are so cute! Here is another video, and interview with the White House Social Director.

This year they had eco-friendly eggs for the Easter Egg roll. (eco-friendly eggs?? Are real, or chocolate eggs not eco-friendly? What do they normally use for the roll? oh…maybe real and chocoloate eggs aren’t healthy enough?) Anyway, the eggs are kind of cool, as a souvenir.

It looks like everyone is having fun, and it was a successful event. I wish I could have seen Fergie!

    Darn cute.

Where was the new Obama dog that has better health care coverage than 40 million Americans?

    • cynic

Probably locked up to keep him from finding and scarfing down dog-dangerous chocolate eggs…

  • tminu

So never mind that non-natural-born-citizen illegal usurper Barry’s bankrupting, selling out, disarming, weakening, giving away sovereignty of and otherwise rapidly breaking the USA and threatening our constitutional rights, let’s focus on Bo and eco-eggs?

  • kathleen

    Darn cute.

    • Tuppence411

Love their little girls. Adorable! Can we keep them (and the dog, but send their parents back to Chicago?

      • beebop

I don’t know. The older girl is starting to learn too much about technology a little too early. “Daughter of Teleprompter.”

You liberal commies keep deleting my messages! I thought this was a pro-American website?!

    • Peggy Sue

But, but . . . you just said on another thread this was a GOP site. Now we’re a bunch of liberal commies???

You need to get your stories straight, SP.

      • elise

Peggy Sue, I think he/she/it is a troll here to disrupt intelligent conversation?

    • Benjamin

Weren’t you at this Easter Egg Roll?

    • Ferd Berfle

Do your parents know you are such a little snip?

  • politicalidentitycrisis

That was actually very cute. As much as I despise BO, it would help him alot if he’d just resign and let Hillary take over the grown up job that she earned (while he did not) and just do cute things like that because then I may at least be able to view him as human. This is the second time that I’ve seen him as human. The first was at the Edward Murrow(?) dinner when John McCain made a nice speech about Obama and how far we had come to see an African American running for President. Obama teared up then. I knew that whenever my hatred for Obama was raging, on the verge of being out of control, I would use that moment of humanness to stop myself. Now, here is another moment. I won’t stop wishing for his impeachment or resignation, but I will try not to be a hater.

  • tminu

Tim Geithner is no less a pirate, he only wears a suit and rapes Americans domestically.
Next, Obama will prescribe attacks on pirate bases, whereby pirates will flee, only “necessitating” American military involvement in Africa.
All part of the NWO African resource grab (see The Obama Deception movie online free), the blockade left in Iraq and now Afghanistan will only build. Instead of empowering Africans, say suggesting they levy a duties or levies and encouraging a self-sufficient economy, it’s just more profitable to keep Africa ignorant and dependent.

COPY IT OVER THERE, AND I WILL DELETE IT FROM HERE. :O)

    • tminu

oops meant to put this in the pirate story thread apologies

      • Benjamin

LOL, Pirates and Easter Eggs. I guess it can be easy to confuse the two. Next we’ll hear that a group of pirates showed up, stole all the eggs, and demanded that the puppy be turned over as a hostage.

  • Peggy Sue

Very cute, AGI! That table spread with the chocolate eggs looked scrumptious. Nice to see so many kids having a good time, too.

    Fun day!

  • Tricia Spiegel

My kind of party! Thanks for the story.

  • NoTrollZone

So there is a smart Obama? Well hell, can we have Malia for POTUS instead?

it,s wonderful to see the kids.having so much fun..

Love the speaking from the balcony overlooking the commoners…just like the English royals do at Buckingham Palace…

      Hey Annie,
I was a little late but I posted something to you on Pat’s egg thread.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I did see it Moss. Thanks for your comments. I’ve been a little hit and miss the past week or so.

Do so appreciate all the kind sentiments and comments. It’s nice to have a friendly place to go to.

    • sandi78

I wondered about that. I’ve never really paid much attention to the Easter Egg Roll at the White House so is it the normal thing for the First Family to be on a balcony like that?

        • sandi78

          Thanks very much.

        • FranSC

Regardless of the fact the balcony has been used at a few (only a few!) of the past WH egg rolls, and much effort was put into making this ultra formal platform into a folksie, down-home, “casual” speaker’s stand, it still looked pretentious, like they are trying to imitate you-know-who, only informally. Wonder who’s idea this was anyway? I dreaded even watching the video.

          • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Especially now that the papers report that Biden and wife were standing as one report said “under the balcony” and another “near the driveway”. I thought this was touchy-feely down home egg roll, foksy read to the children event. Why weren’t they down with the folks?

  • Tuppence411

Love their little girls. Adorable! Can we keep them (and the dog), but send their parents back to Chicago?

  • KintheNorthwest

I have to give the Obamas credit they really know how to entertain..
    Good show Michelle and BO.

  • tek

Eco-friendly eggs are cage-free, organic eggs that aren’t treated with antibiotics and growth hormones. Eggs from free chickens are much safer, nutritious and don’t carry all the diseases corporate eggs pick up from over-crowding. Eco-friendly eggs are SAFE. I approve.

    • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

these eco-friendly eggs are made out of wood.

  • BARB

Very cute article??? Ooooppps. Am beginning to think the writers here have been partaking of Obama kool-aid. I can’t believe NoQuarter would actually have this cutesy (stupid) article on an Egg Roll at the WH.

    • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

lighten up for crying out loud. it was a day for kids, and celebrating Easter.

    • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

And I also consider child obesity and diabetes important issues.

  • Ed

Yes, such a cute and lovely family. Especially Solomon Obama for attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl in England last November. Gee, before or after his brother was elected prez?
Reason No Quarter’s wasting our time with this Easter Egg fluff instead of talking about Solomon Obama?

    • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

If you don’t want to read it, move on. There are plenty of other stories. I wanted to write about it, so i did. get over it. It was a day for kids, and celebrating Easter.

      • cali

I just LOVE your posts. Keep writing.

Did you know that the DC children were not involved in the hunt today? They weren’t included. The Washington Post has the story.

        Happy Spring.

        • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

          thanks.

do you have a link? i saw a story a week or two ago, about local residents being mad they didn’t have the home court advantage anymore, and were shut out for that reason. some people were complaining that have been going for years. i can understand the WH wanting to give people around the country a chance, and not having the same people over and over again.

          • cali

Here you go. Sorry I didn’t include it in my last post.

            http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/11/AR2009041102217.html?sub=AR

This effectively eliminates any chance of children from lower income families participating. Apparently, children with parents who are wealthy enough to purchase plane tickets and book hotel rooms need apply. So much for concerns re: carbon footprints.

            Take good care.

            • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

Yes, I can see your point about the lower income familes, especially since people were selling them online… I am surprised that so many people would actually fly there for the event. haha Well, perhaps it will be a one time thing, since there was such a hub bub about him this year. But I do think some of those people who have attended for years are being a little selfish.

“It appears the the White House tried to ameliorate the situation by allocating 4,000 tickets to local area students. The Obamas also gave out 2,500 tickets to military families. The special tickets that have received the most attention this year are those for gay and lesbian families. In 2006, gay and lesbian families were accused of “crashing” the White House Easter roll. This time the Obamas made a special effort to invite them.”

              • cali

Am I COMPLETELY losing it? I didn’t see this quote…

“It appears the the White House tried to ameliorate the situation by allocating 4,000 tickets to local area students. The Obamas also gave out 2,500 tickets to military families. The special tickets that have received the most attention this year are those for gay and lesbian families…”

in the link that I supplied.

                • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

no, sorry, it was another story i found when i was looking for the one you mentioned.

                  • cali

“Her friend worked the computer all day trying to get tickets for the military family that lives at Fort Belvoir, and her persistence paid off.”

Did the military families have to get their tickets off the computer, as well?

Thanks for clearing up the quote question.. I swear, I thought I had officially gone mad. LOL.

            • FranSC

So much for “this is the people’s house”. Like campaign rallies, they wanted balance in who was behind 0. By design.

I see grandma’s in the mix too. Very cute indeed.
