Adios, Randi Rhodes (and don’t blame No Quarter for your self-created problems)

Now the SF Bay Area is going to have this miscreant and her mouthpiece on their airwaves. She can rant, scream, accost and generally abuse anyone she wants now. Eventually though, this profligate will be kicked off their airwaves also as her kind cannot keep themselves out of trouble. She pre-destined to self-destruct.

Ok … in what “context” is it okay to call two nationally prominent female Democrats “whores?” Randi will land on her ass somewhere with a full drink in her hand.

If she got falling down drunk and busted her mouth open in NYC, imagine what’s gonna happen when she pulls a bender on those hills in S.F. !

You know I don’t have anything particularly against Randi, I just stopped listening to her because I am sick of Obama-trances. But what kind of people think it’s ok and can support somebody calling a woman of Hillary’s position, and a female presidential candidate a “FUCKING WHORE”? I really do not understand how somebody could rationalize this kind of thing as “OK”. What kind of country am I living in that makes this ok to ANYONE? This is a horrid statement about our country and how some people in it perceive women in general and the woman they “allowed” to run for president specifically. It’s just plain sick shit.

…..And what’s even sicker is that someone, ANYONE, would actually BLAME someone for complaining about it.

That’s me too. This was a fund raiser (publicly advertised) for a progressive radio station in S.F. by a supposedly progressive talk show host and this is what comes out of her mouth? Sheesh!

I wrote to the green place and said I’d have to boycott them, but I think they’ll get rid of her when the difference in the two exit plans is clarified and she keeps the hate talk up. He purged his delegates of anti-war activists so he must worry they’re ‘poachable.’ Of course his nuttier supporters are blaming Hillary for mentioning delegates can legally switch, guess he thought that was supposed to be a secret, and that’s why he had to purge his grass roots anti-war supporters. I ahve to admit that the first time I heard about the incident, I didn’t believe the story because I really like Randi, even though I found myself of late increasingly tuning her out whenever she went on her anti-Hillary tirades. But when I saw that awful video, my inner bartender (20 years-plus experience!)immediately told me that this was a woman who was personally out of control, the proverbial “loudest, most obnoxious person at the bar at 10:00pm on a Friday night.”

That’s certainly no excuse for what she did, and it’s her own damn fault if Air America ultimately cans her ass over this incident, but I do have some compassion for the woman. I just lost a good friend to alcohol abuse; she was also in her mid-forties, professionally successful but personally unfulfilled, who spent her final moments on this earth driving down the wrong side of a Honolulu freeway at 2:30am one early morning. Now, I’m not going to speculate as to whether or not Randi Rhodes is experiencing her own sort of mid-life crisis, but I think her personal situation has clearly reached a point where some sort of intervention by her family and friends is required. And if her infamous public performance — now and forever immortalized by YouTube on video — and subsequent frustration expressed publicly by her employmers are ultimately the catalysts for her to seek out that help and clean up her act, then it’s probably for the best that things happened the way they did.

In celebration I just went back to the Air America site and reinstated my name on their blog and website to listen again now that they CANNED Randi.

I actually listened to the entire event, just to make sure I wasn’t taking the comments Randi made, out of context. I wasn’t, and I am not sure what other context they could be taken in.

To the extent that this site helped bring this crap to everyone’s attention, I salute you, however, Green960 and Randi Rhodes have no one to blame but themselves.

Like yelling fire in a theater, there are some things that you just don’t get to say in public.

I’m surpised that blogs like the Huffington Post continue to feature Randi’s crude words in headlines and pictures of Clinton and Randi together as if they are trying to say: we agree with what was said. Perhaps they are just “camp followers” of Obama, which is a term, however little understood, Ms. Huffington would not like applied to herself.

I cannot believe I use to love listening to that woman. I first subscribed to Sirius just so I could listen to Air America. Then they left Sirius, I sold my Sirius and bought XM, just so I could listen to Air America. THEN they took Sam Seder off (My personal favorite on AA), then I heard a anti-Israel/Zionist SCREED from Mike Malloy (thankfully HE was fired from AA), so I canceled my XM subscription and bought an Internet radio so I could tune into Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller, and Randi Rhodes on local stations.

Then this Primary started and every one of them started jumping on the Mr. Hope bandwagon and I have stopped listening to ALL of them….except Sam Seder when he filled in for Randi . I AM THRILLED TO DEATH THAT SHE IS FINISHED ON AIR AMERICA! She doesn’t deserve be be heard on the airwaves. Maybe she can get a job on the Mr. Hope campaign or go work with Samantha Power?

I hope they put Sam back on full time as her replacement. I haven’t heard him bashing Hillary like the rest of the Liberals on radio do.

Randi Rhodes resigns from Air America

Talking Heads take talking points from the higher ups. Rhodes is a symptom, not the cause or the cancer.

In fairness to her, she did actually serve in the military(Air Force) and I’m of the belief she’s entitled to her opinion anyways, First Amendment and all that. Having advertisers agree with what she says on her show is another item. Geraldine helped get women a voice to new levels, it’s ironic to see her own visibility used against her now, and Randy was one helping do that, and now the tables have turned.

Talk about Quixotic victories and defeats.

This sucks for her, for progressive voices, for Hillary as well. Maybe Randy and Imus can host a bias-a-thon and see who can get the most rabid support and criticism.
In an era of Cowboy Diplomacy, Imus was ousted, Randy’s getting the reverse cowboy treatment now. Head ‘em up, move ‘em out!

I’m amazed that people like Randi are “brain-washing” so many otherwise intelligent people. Two of our best friends live in San Francisco and Berkeley and are always questioning us about Hillary: Obama can cross the “aisle,” but she’s too “unlikeable,” isn’t she? She lied about that Bosnia thing, that was bad. Nobody likes Bill. We’re always astounded when we hear this…and when we say, “Her mistake about Bosnia was nothing compared to Reverend Wright,” they say, “Well, he only said it that once.” Or we’ll say, “She’s VERY likeable and personable, have you ever seen her on the Tonight Show or Ellen or in interviews?” “No…but she’s ‘shrill,’ isn’t she?”

When I hear key words like “unlikeable” or “shrill,” they’re like hypnotists’ cue words, and I know they’re only repeating them because they heard them in the media. A hypnotist named Jack in Las Vegas hypnotized my brother once, and when he snapped his fingers, my brother was supposed to say, “That Jack is a fine fellow.” So when he snapped his fingers, that’s what my brother said, and my mother and I laughed and laughed because my brother had never used the word “fellow” in his entire life. That’s what it’s like when I hear people say these key words to describe Hillary…my friends have been hyp-MO-tized!

I used to love Air America, Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann…they were on our side about Bush and the Republicans, etc. But now, of course, I never watch MSNBC and I’ve taken Air America off my car radio settings. And my friends who listen to them are starting to close off a little from me, like they think I’m doing something very bad by supporting Hillary, like I’ve become a racist conservative Nazi or something. Everyone keeps saying Hillary is divisive, but it’s really the Obama people who are creating the divide, and looking at US like we’re the evil ones. After viewing that Green 960 propaganda video, all I could think is that No Quarter shows more journalistic integrity than Green 960 or Randi Rhodes does. I don’t think they get it. It’s important to elevate the dialogue instead of sinking into the muck. Bush (the torture president) has already sunk the country into the muck and we have to try and regain our respect and our self-respect. Randi Rhodes’ words do not serve that effort and the Green 960 propaganda video does not either. Rhodes was at an Air America event endorsed by Barack Obama. Facts are facts. I like Seder and Maddow. Sure they prefer Obama but they are able to do it without sounding like frothing rabid rightwing rottweillers.

Those who lived during the Vietnam war knew that it was easy to get into a war and difficult to get out. Also, having been lied to before by our government, we weren’t so naive and easily swayed by their propoganda efforts. We predicted this fiasco and, unfortunately, we were right.

As far the the differences between the voters for HRC and BHO, most of us aren’t that easily swayed by a pretty face and a speech. We’re older and wiser and have heard those lines before. We look for something of more substance in our candidate.

Yes Seder does support Obama but he isn’t hateful and in fact he stopped a caller right in his tracks today who started to bash Hillary and told him straight that he wouldn’t put up with ANY callers who called in bashing our side.

Randi Rhodes is the lefts answer to Melenie Morgan. She is the right-wing hatchet woman who used to be on the air in the SF Bay area. She recently got canned, but she was famous for having referenced Senator Obama as a “half-rican”. So I guess the answer to that was to put Randi Rhodes on. Being that she only called Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro “f__cking whores”.

And there was nothing “magic” about the video work. This piece above from Green960 is bad propaganda. And the author of it has the audacity to state he’s a journalist and that bloggers are free of standards. JOURNALISTS are free of standards and this guy should know that. But it is an US vs THEM propaganda piece. He makes the US (Journalists) vs THEM (unaccountable lying bloggers) argument so poorly too.

There was nothing stolen about the piece. Go to Green960, play the video, then look in your browser cache and the clip will be sitting there.

And he has a lot of nerve pointing out “stolen” material when he uses FoxNews clips found on YouTube or a YouTube style page. Kind of Pot calling the Kettle Black here. He uses pieces from YouTube no differen than the piece in question related to Randy Rhodes.

The clips were put up as Fair Use and a journalist of the stature above should know that, but clearly he’s an amateur.

In one of my Hillary groups, someone posted a blog by an Obama supporter. A 20 year old male who went to one of Hillary’s ralley. It was pretty much the norm, until he talked about the beyond stupid blogs at NO QUARTER. I chuckled, and gave the blog my 2 cents worth.

It’s wierd I only know 1 Obama supporter. My 23 year old. But he behaves himself, he might be taller, but I’m still the mom.

Seder has been a cowardly ass through all this though. On his Sunday show, he refused to take any calls on Randi until the very end, played music to suggest that the caller was a nutball for even wanting to talk about it, and then said “look, I don’t disagree with a lot of what Randi said..” and ended the show without elaborating.

I believe the power of the Federal Government should be limited.
I believe that every person should be accorded the right of habeus corpus.
I believe the government does not have the right to declare a person a terrorist, hold them without access to a judicial process and torture them.
I believe we ought to provide every citizen of this country access to the same quality of health care that every member of Congress enjoys.

So, if these are conservative positions, yes, I am a conservative. If these are liberal positions, then yes, I am a liberal. So please define your particular orthodoxy here so that we might learn “your truth.”
