Barack Obama Apologizes to Those Bitter Clingy Yokels He Snorts At

The Clowns at CNN have announced that Barack Obama “deeply regrets if he has offended anyone‘. I see no video as yet and probably won’t until they first pull up some Clinton-Bosnia crap to counter with.

So here’s the story from a more objective reliable source that doesn’t have personal interest:

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Democrat Barack Obama on Saturday conceded that comments he made about bitter working class voters who “cling to guns or religion” were ill chosen, as he tried to stem a burst of complaints that he is condescending.

“I didn’t say it as well as I should have,” he said.

I guess that’s about the best that could be expected from a Narcissist like Barack Obama. I kind of figure Axelrod did some assessment and figured out that these Obama-Face-Kissing-Clowns were wrong (Warning: Cafferty Face Attack)

In case you are interested in what Mayors and Governors that Obama insulted have to say about Barack I-hate-everybody-but-me Obama, check out Talkleft’s live blogging of a Clinton conference call.

Oh……and here’s Daily Kos, calling upon Jesus Obama to apologize. Not because those people matter, but because he might lose his nomination.

And finally. For a clue of how the Obamedia views this:

CAFFERTY: Look, Jeff’s right. They call it the rust belt for a reason. The great jobs and the economic prosperity left that part of the country two or three decades ago. The people are frustrated. The people have no economic opportunity. What happens to folks like that in the Middle East, you ask? Well, take a look. They go to places like al Qaeda training camps. I mean, there’s nothing new here.

  • Muppity

Long live the wedge issue system; if it was good enough for Karl Rove it’s good enough for Democrats.

    • blobert

it took his handlers this long to figure it out?

      • workingclass artist

Obfuscate 1. to confuse 2. to darken (random house dictionary) common legal tactic.

  • angca

Good God – I’m not angry because he said people are bitter.

He friggin’ devalued their lives. Hello….he said because they are bitter they cling to guns and religion.

They are purposely missing the point.

    DAMN

    • fran

Translation: “You’re a bunch of red necks who are not enlightened enough to see that I am ‘the One.’”

      • Cee Hussein

        Fran,

I’m sorry that you have a poor self image if you think he was saying that TO YOU.

    • Susan

I know – you would think these dumba**es on CNN could figure out what the offensive part of the remark was! Cafferty said he didn’t have a college degree but he could figure it out – apparently not.

  • Muppity

and here’s Kos, calling upon Jesus Obama to apologize

Since when is someone called johndeebo Kos?

    • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Kos is a website and we all have learned the hard way that if it stays on Kos, it’s a Kos approved mouth.

Hey I have an idea. Why don’t you go write your own blog?

      • Muppity

You don’t really get this whole blogosphere thing do you?

        • PMS

You don’t really get this whole blogosphere thing do you?

You learn well, grasshopper. Dear Leader will be pleased.

        • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Gee I don’t know, Muppity. I’ve been on the internet since the days when we paid by the hour and used a phone receiver on a tape drive for dialup. Maybe you could teach me something.

          • kenoshaMarge

Forget it Uppity, Muppetty couldn’t teach someone like you anything. Just another boring little troll who likes to go to someone else’s house and pee on the carpet.

      • Hope

Are the comments at Daily Kos always so inane? Are they speaking in tongues? Perhaps I’m used to the more intelligent, well-written comments over here on No Quarter.

    • Fleaflicker

Maybe you should see an optometrist. The diary clearly says Daily Kos. If you are going to start something at least get your facts straight. Otherwise you just look … unhinged.

      • Muppity

The original post said what I quoted Kos, not Daily Kos. It was updated. That’s a fact.

    • apishapa

Who went an read ObamOs? And why are we linking to him?

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Yeah I know. It’s Hillary’s fault that Obama is stupid and has managed to piss off half of America with his dumb snobby mouth that shouldn’t move without a script. If Obama wants to stop creating wedges then Axelrod should pull him off the trail with a hook — or at least tell him what to mem’rize.

    • fooj

“Wedges”??? Oh my. Little Lord Obama would NEVER create a “wedge”…he’s the GREAT UNITER, remember? BWAHAHAHA!!!

I’m thrilled that this lying, fraudulent phony has been shown for the filthy con that he is.

      • Muppity

Well the good heated folks in Washington must be doing one hell of a job because nobody is bitter or angry here. Be happy, don’t worry and let’s all have a nice day!

  • http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com TexasDarlin

Haha, your post made me lol. Cafferty almost made me break my TV, then I stopped watching CNN.

This was not a gaffe. This was an expression of his true colors. If a campaign goes on long enough, fatigue takes over, mistakes on the trail will bear out the true nature of the candidate. And that’s what we saw in all its glory, the elistist snob running for president.

Fleaflicker has a post on this subject also (with music videos): http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/04/12/welcome-to-bittergate/

    • TeresaINPa

amd I crazy or did Cafferty just compare us gun totting red neck religion clinging Pennsyvanians to terrorists in the Middle East?

      • Hope

Yes I think he mentioned you were all clones of Osama bin Laden. Or something like that.

  • Kevin

“I didn’t say it as well as I should have,” Too funny… you thought it was a perfectly valid response when Hillary said as much after her Tuzla exaggerations.

But, it’s not comparable when someone else says it.

    ROFL

    • fran

Yea, and you little urchins accepted Hillar’s reasoning too didn’t you? But with Your Lord and Savior, it somehow makes sense.

      • Kevin

        What are you babbling about?

What, politicians don’t say horrendously stupid things?

How about these gems from Hillary that are on the same level:

“I learned the hard way that some voters in Arkansas were seriously offended by the fact that I kept my maiden name.”

Better still – why must you be so angry and void of substantive discourse that you can only call people names who disagree w/ you?

        Pretty childish.

        • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Better still – why must you be so angry and void of substantive discourse that you can only call people names who disagree w/ you?

Because I want to make you Obamazoids feel at home?

        • SueB.

“I learned the hard way that some voters in Arkansas were seriously offended by the fact that I kept my maiden name.”

I lived there at the time. Some voters were offended….ridiculous as it seems. But that was 1978 or so.

        • workingclass artist

Kevin, I can remember when voters were offended that Hillary didn’t stay home and bake cookies…..When she came on the scene it was a different time and she was a different sort of candidate’s spouse. At that time we been through 8 yrs. of adoring Nancy staring hazily up at St. Reagan and 4yrs. of Grandma Babs. I don’t think your example is particularly relevant.

        • apishapa

Well, he ied about Bill Clinton’s Administration by sayng that these peple lost their jobs and sank into poverty during the Clinton and Bush administrations. Bll Clinton’s Administration created 23 milion new jobs and lifted 6 million people out of poverty. Does that bother you at all, that Obama is willing to lie about Bill Clinton and no one n the media has said a damned word about that?

          • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Anybody who even wants to imagine that the market and economy were anything but great during Bill Clinton wasn’t there in any meaningful way. My portfolio LONGs for those days.

      • Kevin

“You know, I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was fulfill my profession…”

“I’m not sitting here as some little woman ‘standing by my man’ like Tammy Wynette…. Clinton would later write that she had not been careful in her choice of words and that “the fallout from my reference to Tammy Wynette was instant — as it deserved to be — and brutal.”

Better still – why must you be so angry and void of substantive discourse that you can only call people names who disagree w/ you?

        Pretty childish.

        • JoeySky

I am “typical white person”, bitter, religious from small town. AND I HAVE A GUN.

          • Kevin

As Dick Cheney might say… “So?”

            • BloggerBoyz

*sigh* Do you know anyone with common sense? If you’re a politician, you have to appeal to voters. Gosh darn, but you look less like an arrogant out-of-touch Bush chanelling a—— if you take responsibility for your words and condemn yourself instead of taking the “how dare mere peons question the Annointed” tack. Calling PA voters gun toting religious nuts is about 34 billion times more egregious than making a pop culture reference to a Tammy Wynette song that offends only Tammy Wynette, and yet the reactions by the candidates are a wee bit different in degree. You undersand about the Electoral Collee, right? And that Brazile has very little power to disenfranchise any states in the general?

              • TeresaINPa

                bloggerboyz…

In the end Kevin, it’s never what you say….it’s how you make people feel.

            • simon, too

As Dick Cheney might say… “So?”

And god damn, that is good enough to run America.

I mean, here, the dickster, and his heir, Obama, well, Dick ran the country into the ground in seven years, losing asymmetrically, if you understand that, in record time, a feat no other administration was incompetent enough to accomplish. My goodness, the Harvard people must be proud.

Militarily, politically, and economically, Cheney flushed the country, handed it over through his amatuer stupidity, characterized by the oh so teenage “so?” when faced with criticism, way in over his little amatuer head, uneducated and stupid, and well, who cares, Dick Morris, and David Axelrod can have a BALL with it, right, just bring in the next flaming corrupt incompetent, no one will remember, well, they won’t anyway, everyday is groundhog day for those people…

It takes smart people to run American, not wanna be specious trolls, and their ghostwriters, or morons who think bombs and propaganda are enough to handle a highly intelligent people, or would be political ops, too stupid to know how far in they really are.

Kev, are you Obama or his campaign director? That babbling thing is his campaign in a nutshell. So if you make it past the convention, can I be on the condescending elitist task force with Kerry? • Mel

Kevin, have you “french kisses” Obama’s ass today?

The things you continually say sure do have a strong scent of that kind of odor!

          • Kevin

If that were the case, you and Flea and the others could easily answer the questions and disprove the premises I challenge you with – rather than resorting to name calling and jr. high scatology.

            • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Flea and I are not running for Leader of the Free World Kevin. And neither are you. Gratefully.

              • Kevin

no, but you’re mindlessly parroting and cheerleading – without being able to respond to the questions about “just why is your candidate better or any better”

Riddle me this one… if Hillary is the better candidate, but she can’t beat Obama thus far – how the heck is she going to beat McCain?

                • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

                  no, but you’re mindlessly parroting

Here we see an example of actual “Projection” Kevin. You are what you accuse us of being. The reason we don’t answer your snotty questions are because they are snotty questions. SInce we aren’t your parents and can’t send you to your room, we simply ignore most of your silly accusations. It’s kind of like ignoring the ADD kid in class whose parents refuse to recognize the problem.

                • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

That’s not a riddle Kevin that is obvious. All you need to do is read instead of post and you can clearly see that they won’t be swiftboating Hillary on anything that haven’t tried before. Now on the other hand, we have a man who hangs out with domestic and foreign terrorists, infamous American bombers, collects money from Bundled Lobbyists and then is stupid enough to make commercials saying he doesn’t, wrote a book riddled with debunked lies, is very very very bitter and angry and…speaking of projection…projects his own hatred and anger upon the majority of Americans. I won’t even get into his Pastor, that will be a blast to watch, not to mention his dubious middle east connections, up to and including an election “call center” in Gaza City, and not to mention the 50k of bundled money he got from a former PLO PR guy, and I really probably don’t have to mention Louis Farrakhan on video calling him a “savior”, right? And actually, this is a short list.

But while I prefer to be over at another thread right now, you are here asking me the obvious, which derails me, which appears to be your job here on No Quarter. And that is why you garner no respect. you are not inquisitive at all Kevin. What you are is a derailer.

        • Fleaflicker

Kevin, don’t you need to go scratch Obama’s ass for him or some other such chore?

        • TeresaINPa

huh? She insulted on person, and she was talking about herself and it was a long time ago. You have to reach back a long time to a very difficult time in her life to get that quote. They were attacking everything about her.. even much worse than now. Obama has nothing but a long national magic carpet ride up to this point. He has no reason to make this kind of mistake.
He said what he really thought.

If anyone’s in the mood, Jane Smiley’s rant at HuffPo could use a few correctives. She’s blaming Hillary for the war, school shootings, global warming, poverty, and so much else I can’t even remember. Oh yeah, and she doesn’t like angry women. Have fun!

I’m feedin the toast to Harry, my equally dirt poor and increasingly bitter dog….I’m not judgin’….I’m just sayin’

  • blobert

The media loves turning his fuck-ups into Hillary attacks.
CNN “Ballot Bowl” is attacking Clinton for continuing to criticize him after he apologized. “He called his voters dumb slugs? That’s OK. He apologized. And not just because he wanted them to vote for him, either.”

On the web last night, the NYT buried it in bubble wrap by saying Clinton and McCain were attacking Obama. I guess they realized they couldn’t get away with it, so the print version today was slightly harder, but Bill Clinton’s supposed Bosnia blunder got equal prominence, which is BS.

    • fran

Isn’t it phenomenal to watch all these liberal p.c. phonies bend over backwards to justify his bigotry (first Wrightn and now all these blue collar troglodytes)? Disgusting. If he is the nom, I can’t wait to see the Republicans flay him.

      • rwc

Liberal p.c. phonies nicely sums that crowd thats spinning for Barry.

And bearded road apple Blitzer along with his crew of Obamabots need to be fired. They aren’t doing news or opinion they are outright spinning for Obama.

His response of “I didn’t say it as well as I should have” is not an apology, it’s an “I’m sorry you were offended by the truth. Next time I’ll try to say it so your weak sensibilities don’t get offended.”

He should of said that what he said and implied was untrue and apologize. Instead he gave the classic Chris Matthews non-apology.

Unfortunately, that’s the sad truth about almost all politicians. Regardless of party, race or gender. Even the good, idealistic ones are corrupted by the system.

The professionals – well, they had to be corrupt or open to it to succeed in the system.

Obama lived a life of dispare, a single parent home, low income, Indonesia and all the other crud?

Obama lived with a mother who chased men around the world, lived with a mother and step-mother in Indonesia and CHOSE to live with his GRANDPARENTS in Hawaii, went to an exclusive school in LA and partied doing drugs and drinking there (never explaining where he got the money for the booze and coke, was it that stereo type white granny or did he rob banks like he expects stereo type whites to think?), Obama isn’t an elitist, far from it, Obama is a selfserving greedy asshole who opens his mouth when unscripted and shoves his big feet in it continually and expects as poven in the video, the media will “french kiss” his ass every time!

  • Joe

Obama is like an abusive husband who batters his wife then apologizes tearfully for it to her before beating her up again. The battered wife then continues to stick by him even though she knows she’s going to get hit again. Obama thinks that he can keep doing what he’s doing and continue to get a free pass by apologizing for it or making a speech lecturing to people why it’s not his fault.

  • Anita

I must say it is refreshing to happen upon a site that does not think Obama is the savior of the nation. I want you all to know that I appreciated that.

I’m a GOP supporter. I don’t care for McCain but I’ll support the GOP no matter who it is.

If I had to pick I would pick Clinton over Obama- but I really don’t want the dynasty to continue.
Bush 1 – Mr. Clinton – Bush 2 – Mrs. Clinton – (next Jeb Bush?)

I wish you all success in preventing Obama from being anointed.

    He didn’t apologize, he said………….

“If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that. The underlying truth of what I said remains, which is simply that people who have seen their way of life upended because of economic distress are frustrated and rightfully so.

And I hear it all the time when i visit these communities. People say they feel like no one is paying attention or listening to them and that is something — that is one of the reasons I am running for president. I saw this when I first started off as a community organizer and the steel plants had closed. I was working with churches in communities that had fallen on hard times. They felt angry and frustrated.”

He never took it back , he never said he was sorry. He is standing by what he said just trying to turn it into something else….What he said first..

“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years. … And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

    No he didn’t apologize! WORM

    • Janis

“If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that.”

As I said elsewhere: “I sorry you got angry when I called you fat.” We silly, middle-aged, angry, nervous women recognize that one from a mile away.

      • jwrjr

Obama is saying “I am sorry if you are offended by my accurate words.”

      • bmc

Absolutely true, Janis. He didn’t apologize at all; he blamed anyone who might be offended, as if there’s something wrong with them for not hearing W.O.R.M., what Obama really meant.

But, here’s what Obama really meant:

People in rural towns and regions don’t want to vote for me because they’re rubes who “cling” to their guns and religion, and are racists and xenophobes who are too stupid to see that I am God’s Gift to Man! Now, gimme your money, elitist, liberal billionaires in San Francisco because that will prove you’re not a “bitter” racist like those rural rubes in PA.

  • Matt

When are these ridiculous hacks on CNN going to get axed? I swear, I’ve never seen so many disgustingly biased, mean-spirited, trashy talking heads talking at the same time. It’s time that CNN get on the ball and get rid of this vermin forever.

    • Hope

      The Pinhead Brigade.

  • ruhla

This is amazing! CNN turns it into Hillary unfairly picking on him. We know how they would portray it if she were the one saying such demeaning things. His arrogance is totally apparent in the video, and he once again brings up race saying small town America especially doesn’t get hiss hope message coming from a black man.

  • http://Supergram.blogspot.com Melissa

I did a very unscientific poll at work today. How many people knew of Obama’s comments? 20/22.
How many thought he was calling us Pa people dumb hicks? 20/20

We get it! We know What Obama Really Meant!

On April 22 he will find out just how offended we are!

  • Adrienne Grey

The media reaction to this is, predictably, to debate whether or not Obama is right to call Pennsylvanians bitter, if they cling to cultural traditions out of bitterness or pride, should Obama take it back, etc., etc. Even the Clinton campaign is taking this tack.

All of this, it seems to me, is just an extension of the infuriating frame that if people aren’t flocking to Obama, there must be something wrong with them. He generously grants that it’s not racism, just mistrust of government that leaves them skeptical. Why is it necessary to analyze people, as though not voting for Obama is evidence of some syndrome — some Anti-Hope disease? What I don’t see anywhere in critiques of Obama is the question of how dare he suggest that not succumbing to his message is the result of anything other than 1) his having a flawed message, or 2) Hillary having a better message? Might PA voters be not bitter and hopeless, but in fact hopeful and placing their hopes in Hillary? Maybe they don’t even dislike or distrust Obama, but like and trust Hillary more. I realize that such a premise would be an unthinkable threat to a Narcissist like Obama. Which is exactly why is should be posed.

My husband got a haircut today and the hairdresser was quite angry. She told him, “What Obama said yesterday really pissed me off!! He was talking about US!!! —He insulted every one of us!!! And my customers are just as mad as me!” —Now that’s just one voice sounding off from small town America. There must be millions more just like her.

So once again, all the clowns at CNN are giggling and spouting off crap they know nothing about—acting like Clinton and McCain are so off-base for criticizing Obama. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a job where you could clearly be so incompetent and wrong on every issue—yet still get paid big bucks??

And I’m sure Americans love the idea of being compared to Al Qaeda. Yes, Cafferty is REALLY in touch with the heartland.

The media reaction to Obama’s “gaffe” is as predictable as his response.

First and foremost we must have the tut-tutting of pinheads like Borger and Cafferty. “He said nothing wrong and if he did it’s all Clinton’s fault”.

Or Obama supporters with their Republican like parroting of “But, but Clinton”. Wasn’t there a time before Progressives became Fauxgressives when we used to laugh at Conservatives that answered every mention of their Bush Baby with that “But,but, Clinton b.s.? Remember? It wasn’t all that long ago.

He didn’t say anything wrong, he just didn’t hide his contempt for those he needs to vote for him. Meanwhile he’s dissing them in the palatial homes of the wealthy “elite” democrats in CA. And they laughed because all those peasants out in the fly-over are so quaint. Or so they believe because most of them have as much chance of coming in contact with a real working class American in a Social Setting as I have of winning the lottery. (Unless said citizen is carrying their bags, cooking their food or watching their offspring.)

Now it is imperative that some damage control is done and just another tiny spot of tarnish on that suit of armour be polished away by the tongues of the Obama/lovin-Clinton/hatin media. And we would watch, read, or listen to them, why?

He didn’t “apologize.” He said he was sorry if he offended anyone. There’s a world o’ difference.

He didn’t take responsibility for saying it, or thinking it, or using it to explain his own lack of connection with working class voters; but moreover immediately after he blamed anyone who was “offended” — he said he STOOD BY HIS REMARKS.

He’s a narcissist; a certifiable NPD–That’s Narcissistic Personality Disorder for anyone who hasn’t caught on yet.

Clearly, narcissists cannot admit to any failure, no possibility of their being mistaken, as it would be evidence of their fallability, and that is simply not possible, because they need so profoundly to believe in their own [i.e., admit his arrogance and contempt caught up with him in a freudian slip of epic proportions] superiority to everyone.

The condescension and arrogance, the narcissism implicit in his comments about people who “cling” to their guns and religion was by way of explaining to his Billionaire’s Row donors why he wasn’t doing well in PA; he wasn’t getting votes from working class whites because they are “bitter.”

The failure could not be attributed to HIM; it had to be attributed to SOMETHING ELSE.

Because Barry is a narcissist, and narcissists must blame anyone but themselves for their own failures.

This is one of Obama’s faults that I find most disgusting: that he makes broad sweeping generalizations about people he doesn’t understand and hasn’t bothered to get to know. Instead of letting people tell him what they think and how they feel, he digs into his own personal prejudices and interprets them on that basis. This is called stereotyping, and that someone who so often complains that others do it to him, is the height of irony. And it’s not the first time. That’s part of what I find so offensive about “typical white person,” as if we were all the same, and as if he knows what we think and feel without asking us. This is the very definition of elitism.
