It is done today to boy infants for health and sanitary reasons. More significantly, the boys do not lose their ability to enjoy sex when they are mature.

When this procedure is done to females, they lose their ability to enjoy sex. It’s all about mutilating female bodies and controlling their sexuality.

I highly doubt this would be done to boys if it removed their ability to engage in and/or enjoy sex.

That’s why I believe it should be called genital mutilation, not “female circumcision”, because it’s not the same thing. At all.

Except that GWB eviscerated our Constitution and looted our Treasury. Obama, his Janis-faced twin, is extending Bush’s policies and destroying what is left of this country and the Constitution. Both are traitors to this great country and are the scourge of our time.

I didn’t suggest this did make it right. I find the practice barbaric and an outrage. I was making a point about cultural blindness: We are not immune. To some things we are also blind.

That doesn’t make it right to ignore another abusive procedure that in some cases cuts away all the parts of a females’ genitalia and then sew her up..with just enough opening left for urination and menstrual flow. I am sure that if the procedure which male babies(more parents now are opting out of) undergo was made illegal….the laws would be strictly enforced…instead of ignored as in the case of Somali (and other African) females.

There is one thing about Bush–I know who his parents,his grandparents are. I know they are Christian Patriots. I don’t know for certain basically ANYTHING about the parents of Obama.I can’t say with any certainty that he is a Patriot either. I can say the as far as defending women the christian religion does a far superior job to Muslim relgion. I fear for my daughters with Obama in the White House. I did not ever vote for the Bushes, but I would rather have either one now than Obama.

Lisabona is right. Bush loved this country, despite his mistakes, often which belonged on CON-gress but he got blamed. We’re still here though. Now we have an America hating incompetent. Much worse. Much, much worse and destructive. In 6 months, the Bush years will look like “the good old days.” And, yeah, while we are GOP bashing here, let’s DO give credit where it’s due. On BOTH sides.

MrMike, I agree with you, but giving credit is two way street.Have patience and read some others opinion too.COTE; The ” Navy” that was able to respond in the Indian Ocean was a navy created by the Bush administration. While Bush may not have maintained a large a navy as I would prefer, he kept our seaflering capabilities at a high level. Barack 0bama wants to devastate the navy, and reduce our fleet to a handful of tugboats and dinghies.COTE
So, MrMike, you are right. When credit is due is due,even you dislike the person who deserve it. One more thing. You didn’t stop bashing Bush. True, he had his fault and we all know it. But nobody ever can acuse him, he didn’t love his country.

Obama’s lack of action almost caused a death. I can’t believe the Stoner in Chief gets props for the SEALS doing their jobs. Never mind the fact that the poor Captain had to jump ship because he knew no one was coming to get him. (His own words). If this was Bush, people would be SCREAMING that he didn’t handle it better. But the Fraud gets a free ride because he’s on training wheels…in other words, no one died, so he gets a pat on the back. That Captain had an AK-47 pointed at his head. And Obama gets praise for doing what any decent American, never mind President, would do. Plus, the Navy didn’t need his orders at that point. An American was about to be shot.

Amen, brother. What everyone needs to keep in mind is Obama essentially did nothing. The military pulled this off. If Bush The Lesser Chimpanzee had been in office, he would have done the same thing. This decision is an absolute no brainer. I said to my domestic supervisor two nights before the rescue, “Get four snipers and let them solve the problem.” Gee, does no one watch cop shows?

So let’s not give Obama any more credit than we would give Bush. (Ya know, if it had been an Iranian hostage rescue mission, the story may have been different.)

I just read a book about modern day piracy a few weeks before this episode. I never heard before about the dangers out there on the sea. I live in Colorado, so it is all pretty removed from my life. One phrase I remember from that book is about how if there were hijackings on land where hundreds of millions of dollars of goods were stolen, there would be hell to pay. If cars or trains were being hijacked every day and people killed or held hostage, it would not be a secret.

Apparently this is a huge problem, not just in Africa, but even off our coasts, and the media and to a large extent the government ignore it. These guys take entire ships full of goods and sell them on the black market, then either sell or abandon the ship. They either kill or release the crew, depending on who the priates are. They are not backwoods, old style pirates. They break into websites that track each ship and are able to decide which ship is most likely to be profitable and determine when would be the best time when the target is least protected. I don’t know if those pirates off Somalia do that, but apparently there is technology to do so.

It seems just wrong that this is going on all over the world and most of us never had a clue.
