I think the tea parties did a whole lot more than simply unite folks with a common need to protest the outrageous spending and lack of accountability of our elected representatives. I think the tea parties clearly exposed the very worst in a media already teetering on the edge, and IMHO, that's a good thing, especially if it wakes up the slumbering giant we used to call the "silent majority".
