The Most Ironic Irony

(bumped up from Thursday evening)

This takes the cake. John Ziegler, a conservative journalist, showed up outside the Annenberg School of Journalism to report on the award ceremony for Katie Couric. Ziegler believes Katie has conducted herself as a partisan advocate rather than a journalist and wanted to ask audience members some probing questions.

Link: Ziegler Arrest

This is fucking outrageous. Quashing the ability of people to report information, particularly at an event supposed recognizing someone for journalistic excellence, puts the iron in irony. Jon Stewart could have scripted this.

  • Hank

Like Greta said tonight, he needs to find an attorney.

  • HARP

    Journalism…….RIP…2008 AND 2009

  • I’mFedUp

I am embarrassed to say that I am a USC Graduate. How humiliating and sad that this is what our country has come to. Dissent? Go to jail. WTF? I called the President of USC earlier today and blasted off. Anyone who is appalled should write or call too. This has gotten pathetic.

  • pm317

Larry, wait for the cybersecurity bill. You, me and the rest of us may not be around with blogs like these.

  • I’mFedUp

What’s really appalling is how many TROLLS are out lately. And they repeat the same old “you don’t like Obama because he’s black” nonsense. We had it all day today and yesterday.

Of course we admit that they are an organized group of goofballs from Camp Obama. I think that’s offensive enough. To plant people on blogs and try to stir the pot, intimidate them, call them “racists” and all the other nonsense is vile. But, that’s not good enough. Nope. Obama doesn’t like what we say about him (hearing the truth) so we will be silenced. 1984 here we come!!!!

  • catherine

The 0bots have become what they most loathed and feared: the left version of Bush/Cheney.

Congratulations 0bots! You have made the Democratic Party lose the higher moral ground that we’ve been claiming for the past 8 years.

You must feel so proud of yourselves now that you’ve FORCIBLY installed someone who is not only keeping the very same policies you detested in Bush BUT actually expanding them!

That’s NOT change anyone but the self-deluded can believe in. That’s called leaping from the frying pan into the fire.

  • Andy

    Indeed! Can you imagine….Scary…

  • Docelder

We will all be using proxy servers in places like China just to use the Internet. How is that for irony?

  • catherine

And we will have the “democracy” and “Constitution loving” 0bots to thank for that. Hypocritical trash.

I can just hear them now calling us “racist c**ts” and other endearing terms because we have the temerity to want to safeguard our civil rights.

  • Cathy in Ks.

What has happened to the “free press” in this country? Are we rapidly approaching the repressions found in a totalitarian state?

The CNN reporter yesterday who verbally attacked the man with the toddler that she was supposed to be interviewing was vile and unprofessional. But I still defend her right to make a “jackass” out of herself. What is this country coming to? Obama and the “democratic?” controlled congress have only been in power for a few short months but they are starting to make Geo. W. and Co. look like a “walk in the park.”

  • elise

pm317 we talked about this after we heard about this proposed bill, and there is a way around the Internet. I’m not sure exactly how it works, but it can be done by using antennas which would cover approx thirty square miles and set up relays. It would be slower than the Internet, but not unreasonable. I guess it would sound far-fetched to some that something like it could become necessary, but I’m not as confident as I used to be.

  • pm317

No, we will take it to the supreme court if somebody meddles with our first amendment rights.

  • I’mFedUp

You mean the same Supreme Court that is covering for Obama on the BC issue? LMAO.

  • sybilll

Good to know that Noob-found items can get the attention deserved. Glad you saw fit to post this atrocity. Irony at it’s befittest.
    Thanks Larry.

  • Benjamin

Isn’t Ziegler the guy who did the film, How Obama Got Elected? He also hired Zogby to do a poll, and it displayed how ignorant many Obama voters were.

  • politicalidentitycrisis

No. We will not be silenced! I have said a million times or more that they are going to pry my American freedoms out of cold, dead, bloddied hands!!! There have got to be more of us than there are of them! I am convinced of it and if we have to all take off from work for the next tea party, so it shall be. If I have to walk from my house in MN to Washington DC, I will do it. This will not continue.

    Everyone, repeat after me:

THIS WILL NOT CONTINUE ON MY WATCH!!!!!!
    WE SURROUND THEM!!!!

  • TeakwoodKite

ImFedup, to add to PM317′s point, all it will take is a setup group to incite commentary that would give cause to fall with in the “Cyber threat”.

Anyone who speaks to the truth is a threat.

  • I’mFedUp

I stole your line honey LOL…”they are going to pry my American freedoms out of my cold, dead, bloodied hands.” LMAO. I can’t figure out whether we will survive Obama and Pelosi or not. Something tells me that he can’t do THAT much damage in 3 3/4 more years, but then I look at the toilet we are in 3 MONTHS in and I am terrified. Maybe someone can answer…any of the Fraud’s commie executive orders can be overturned by the next POTUS, right?

  • I’mFedUp

Well, then I say…they can bite me. What can we do? I haven’t been censored by anyone in my life, not even my parents LOL. What do you suggest? This is one of the few places that we can all have polite, creative, honest conversation. And it’s across party lines and all of that. What would we do if this was gone?

  • I’mFedUp

Yeah, that’s Ziegler. The film is amazing. It’s so on point about why we got stuck with the loser from hell. LMAO at the AA people they asked…”So what do you think of Obama’s RUNNING MATE, Sarah Palin?” OMG I was dying.

  • Benjamin

So true in so many respects – and they can’t say they weren’t warned. The Hillary supporters, who never lined up behind The One, have been saying this all along. I wonder what the Hillary Democrats, who voted for Obama, are thinking now?

  • I’mFedUp

Ughhh…those people, the Hillary voters who sold out…they have the most special place in hell. I know a lot of them regret it. Some of them are digging in, trying to deny the mess, but I have had a lot of apologies from the ones who called me a tin foil hat nut during this mess.

  • Benjamin

And over half of them didn’t even know the Democrats controlled Congress, but they all knew about Bristol Palin’s baby and Sarah Palin’s wardrobe from the RNC. Well, I think it was Winston Churchill who said, “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute discussion with the average voter.”

  • TeakwoodKite

Life finds a way. Be a threat.

  • I’mFedUp

Grrrrr….okay, you got it. I’m a big ole threat.

  • TeakwoodKite

    :)

  • politicalidentitycrisis

Anyone can use my line. I mean it, too. They will not destroy this country.

  • TeakwoodKite

    Yea that one. (snort)

  • politicalidentitycrisis

You know, the Obots/Obot media wouldn’t be acting this way of they weren’t afraid of us. I’m glad they know we are out here. I believe they know we are gaining in numbers, too. Funny, those 50 PUMAs have sure multiplied-haha!

  • Benjamin

MANY of them must regret it. If they followed the primary at all, they would KNOW what Obama is all about it. I’m asking any Hillary supporter, who voted for Obama, to come forward and tell us what you think.

    1. What do you think about his vote in favor of FISA, and his extension of warrantless wiretapping?
    2. How do you feel about leaving 50,000 troops in Iraq – an endless occupation – where they will continue to be targets?
    3. How do you feel about surging our presence in Afghanistan, and the gradual expansion of that war into the nearly-failed nuclear state of Pakistan?
    4. Are you enjoying the perpetual Obama campaign that we’re having to watch every day? I was sick of his campaign BEFORE Iowa.

  • I’mFedUp

You are so right Benjamin. I heard the Code Pink nuts are going mad about all of this. It’s very disappointing. But the people on the right aren’t happy either about Obama’s blow America to hell policies. He can’t get it right. Between defense, the economy, social issues, etc. he is just screwing up all over the place. He makes me puke, and I have NEVER said that about a current President or any other politician for that matter. I hope those Bots rot in hell. They KNEW what was done to Hillary and they voted for him ANYWAY. Screw them.

  • Benjamin

I’m sure the Obama campaign fears the PUMAs more than anyone because they know that WE know all of his tricks. And I refuse to use the term “Obama administration” because it’s still just the Obama “campaign” to me. The only difference is he’s now running it from the West Wing of the WH, and using the Treasury Dept. and Fed. Reserve to fund it.

  • I’mFedUp

Benjamin…I don’t call him the “President” because he’s not. Not after the fraud. But as far as the so called Administration…I stole from someone here…it’s the SADministration.

  • John Smith

I would not worry all that much about any of this. Yes it is bad. But I remember when everybody thought the same thing about Bush and guess what at the end nothing happened. These things come and go. We just have to concentrate on changing the party at least in the House over the next 18 months. After which the administration will be to busy dealing with the republicans to do anything crazy.

  • I’mFedUp

John Smith…thank you. I wasn’t paying attention to the Bush stuff. Sorry, I know, I am lame. But if you think that we can corral this crap, great. It’s a tad scary.

  • DaddysDarlin

This is so fucking outrageous I cant believe it! This is where Obama wants any reporter that wants to report the real news. If you are against Obama, or his little news whore Katie, then you are not a reporter.
All true reporters must do Obama’s bidding, and obviously Ziegler doesnt report the news the way Obama wants him to report the news, that is by lying about everything that Obama is trying to do to this country.
You cant report on the fact that Obama has the media in his back pocket. If you dare try to report anything you don’t clear with Obama first, you’ll wind up in handcuffs!
THERE IS NO FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, THERE IS NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH, THERE IS NO CONSTITUTION THAT THIS ADMINISTRATION CANNOT RE-WRITE TO SUIT THEIR NEEDS.
It’s appalling, but with any luck at all the true press will begin to understand just how used they have been. To those reporters who have stuck it out and continued to report the truth about Obama, you are the true hero’s in my book.
We will REVOLT, we will TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK, just you wait Obama, Pelosi, Dean, Brazile, etc. We are coming for you and we’ll throw your asses the hell out of Washington so fast it will make your heads spin!
None of you are true Americans who love this country, who have fought for this country and who would die defending her.
You are all frauds who steal from the mouths of our children and grandchildren and your time is coming fast.
This ought to put me on some kind of shit list the FBI and CIA are keeping. If you dont agree with Obama, big brother will be watching you!

  • trixta

    You said it, Catherine!

  • I’mFedUp

I have been trying to find a way to impeach SCOTUS. Clearly those people forgot that their oath is to the Constitution. Maybe they need a little refresher course. Especially since Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the mentally ill moonbat, has now decided that it’s okay for us to base her rulings on foreign law…like Sharia Law. It’s sick.

  • trixta

Somewhere I read that both Parties are losing registrants to Independents, with the percentages as follows:

    21% Republican
    31% Democrat
    40% Independent

  • I’mFedUp

Well, great Trixta. Now you can get off the GOP hate and be an American.

  • Benjamin

Yes, and for some reason he can’t stop SCAMpaigning.

  • I’mFedUp

LMAO…Let him SCAMpaign. He’s DONE. Over, never going to grace the White House after 2012.

  • tminu

they pinched his wrists so hard in cuffs, for no reasons, that he probably has permanent nerve damage

  • I’mFedUp

Okay you’re making me smile in all of my AGONY Teakwood…LOL…I’ve had a great two days. I love my country. I will BITE anyone who screws it…Grrr….

  • Benjamin

If the GOP should storm back in 2010 and grab Congress and get subpoena power, there’s a chance he might not make it to 2012. Remember what was done to Bill Clinton? Well, just imagine how much America might learn about Barack Obama with a couple of well-placed special prosecutors.

  • Benjamin

Maybe it’s time for a third party. A 21st century version of the Bull Moose party or something.

  • trixta

Your response is illogical, FedUp. In any case, just because we don’t see eye to eye on Bushy Boy is no reason to spew vile insults my way. For some reason you need to direct your anger at posters who disagree with you here. We got enough of that from the Obots, so perhaps you’re not in your proper element here. Your rude and angry comments say more about you than they do about any poster you disagree with.

  • I’mFedUp

trixta…yeah, I’m angry. Because all you guys do is spend your time on Bush. I have nothing to do with him, but because I suggested you get over it and focus on America, you are spitting at me. Good luck with that. I’m not angry, you are. Clearly you have hate towards Bush and Republicans. Good for you. I don’t.

  • I’mFedUp

I can promise you Obama will NEVER make it past 2012. Never. I will truly be shocked if he gets that far. And I truly believe that America is so disgusted that they will straighten out CON-gress in 2010.

  • dbb

Ziegler is a smirking, smarmy buffoon. I guess Katie Couric put a gun to Sarah Palin’s head and made her make a fool of herself. Funny isn’t it how the goofier she got in the fall, the more the hard right and the PUMAs loved her. Getting back to Ziegler, his How Obama Won “documentary” pretty much swirled and flushed down the toilet so the failed radio host needs another publicity stunt.

  • Benjamin

Well, I don’t think the focus of this blog is that much on Bush. Hell, the articles about Obama are the most popular ones, whether it’s about a serious issue or one we can just snark about. I agree, the constant Obama SCAMpaign against Bush and the GOP seems like a distraction to all that Obama is doing. But we can’t lose sight of the fact that one of Obama’s biggest problems is continuing a lot of horrible Bush policies, including the Wall Street bailout mentality.

  • viking

The video is a pathetic example of the lefty crowd’s imagination of their new ‘power’. The guys in the video are not police they’re privately hired campus cops.

The more I see of this stupidity the more my resolve and certainty double. Let not your heart be troubled (as Hannity says every night during his broadcast, I’ve learned).

We know who we are. We are Americans. We are the those that live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. We can resolve this, being the decent law abiding people that we are.

I don’t believe our law enforcement, military or intelligence branches will move against us, its own loyal citizens. Just my two cents.

  • I’mFedUp

I think trixta is a troll. So let’s move past this crap.

  • Benjamin

The whole point of Ziegler’s work there was how the media coverage of the campaign drove voters’ knowledge of the candidates. For example, very few knew much about Obama’s background and record, but they all knew about Sarah Palin’s family, and the RNC wardrobe flap. I’ll bet it’s that film that caused him to be treated that way.

Hell, I’m a veteran and I contributed to and worked for the Hillary Clinton campaign. How long will it take them to come after me?

  • Scout

I’d like to see a link on this. I’m interested in the shifts in parties as a result of this election.

I’m a lifelong Dem, still registered as such, but I’ve considered many times changing my registration to Indie to make a point with the party.

  • Benjamin

I can appreciate you looking at the bright side, viking. But I’m a veteran and the Homeland Security Department has labeled me a “potential” domestic terrorist. To me, it’s pretty damn frightening.

  • trixta

“But we can’t lose sight of the fact that one of Obama’s biggest problems is continuing a lot of horrible Bush policies, including the Wall Street bailout mentality.”

Ben, this is the point I’ve been arguing all along! To admit this is not to live in the past. The horrible reality is that Obama and his Pod Dems are expanding on the corporatist template that was laid before him by the previous regime. Moreover, he’s continuing to eviscerate our Constitution. Even if the Dems lose one or both houses in the next elections, I wonder if Obama’s policies will be stopped? Will the GOP roll over like the Dems did after the 2006 elections? Let’s hope not.

We should all keep our eye on July 4th as our next day of protest. For starters, we could demand the restoration of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

  • Diana

I will call tomorrow FedUp. This sickens me.

  • Elizabeth

Without question Ziegler should sue the college and the campus police department and, in such a case, will most likely walk away with a rather large settlement.

Particularly if the sidewalk he was on is deemed to be public (not campus) space. It is totally false arrest and unlawful detention. You can’t be picked up just for attempting to question pedestrians, until such activity crosses over into obstruction or loitering which this obviously did not.

  • candymarl

I’ve been saying this since last year. Obama=Bush on steroids. Unfortunately I was correct.

Detaining an American, no matter their political stripe, for asking questions is unacceptable.

Funny how the Obots were out in force on the net yesterday and even with the media on their side they couldn’t shut down the Tea Parties.

Slowly but surely they appear to be losing.

  • ACPD

These are the same people who run factcheck.com. And we wonder why none of the “facts” about BO came out during the primaries and election. The woman who heads this group was on Bill Moyers many times repeatedly thumping for BO. They are a fraud–not impartial at all–, like so much that is associated with BO….

  • Linda C.

We have been marching to a steady drum for the erosion of our Constitution since Nixon. However, we had bright people in Congress who managed to thwart the process at that time. If you haven’t noticed, those who have been picked by the parties to run for office ever since are mostly clowns without an independent thought in their head.

Same is true for journalism. What is different is that there is no search for truth, just a search for ideology within journalism. Shall we look into our Justice Department too? The hiring of graduates from third rate ideologue law schools that would just rubber stamp the administration’s or party line.

The Tea Party is a red herring. Why aren’t people protesting the erosion of the Constitution and the continued development of the Unitary President rather than how the government spends money on “wasteful items”. So everyone focuses on the “Tea Party” and not the real issue of the dissolution of our rights.

  • Clyde5445

If anybody is interested Gov. Palin gave a speech last nite and it is a classic. It is right up there with her RNC speech.

    http://www.conservatives4palin.com/

  • http://noquarterusa No-nonsense-Nancy

I think we should have another tea party soon, before the 4th of July and have it to demand BO show his credentials proving he is eligible to be POTUS. All these law suits are getting nowhere. The judiciary are too afraid to do anything. It is up to We The People to get it done. We showed them how big our numbers are on tax day. I’ll bet we could get twice that number out the next time. It doesn’t take that long to organize a tea party. July is too far away to do nothing before then. Just my opinion.

  • politicalidentitycrisis

I have never despised a POTUS like I do this one. Not ever. That includes Bush. Obama makes me long for GW! How sick is that????
Of course since I despise Obama, it is racism, pure and simple, or so Janeane Garafalo says. This will infuriate you:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAAHMDpk7Ik

  • politicalidentitycrisis

I wish I could be so confident. I never imagined the guy could get elected the first time. He bought it once, couldn’t he buy it twice????

  • politicalidentitycrisis

Maybe our new third party should be called, the Independent Constitutionalist party! What do you think?

  • Carol HAKA

Yes, my son graduated from USC. I am outraged that my continuing support money I have sent to them has been spent to pay for the death of journalism – WTF anyway for pretending Katie was a journalist in her gotcha session with Palin!

    I will be calling.

    CAROL HAKA

  • Judy L. NC

Ziegler would have helped his case by not giggling through the incident.

  • I’mFedUp

Janeane Garafolo is a despicable wannabe troll. She should STFU and worry about her own desperate sad career.

  • I’mFedUp

WTF anyway for pretending Katie was a journalist in her gotcha session with Palin!

LMAO…No s**t. This poor guy got arrested at a function for a HACK…Great that people are calling. And I’m not sending my check this year, nor is my mother.

  • Dawnelle

LOL FED UP that’s so RICH!! LMAO@ scampaigning and sadministration

    tooooooooo funny!

    glad I stopped by

  • Elizabeth

Admittedly, he can be a little obnoxious…It still doesn’t change what was done was wrong, though, even if the incident took place on a campus walkway and the security people were technically within their rights.

  • shadow

I heard this morning on tv that Chris Dodd only has four contributors to his 2010 campaign so far. Sounds like he is in trouble. One can only hope.

  • I’mFedUp

That’s great news about Chris (Countrywide) Dodd. What a crook. I also hear that Harry Reid might be in trouble in Nevada. Hope so. Even if we could get rid of those two it’s a start.

  • politicalidentitycrisis

We could combine the two words to be scaministration!

  • Patience

    My feelings too, exactly.

  • pacificisland

I’ve watched him on interviews before – he never giggles. Some people show their shock, nervousness, or anxiety by laughing inappropriately. I think that he was shocked; he probably has never been handcuffed in his life.

They certainly could have asked him to leave (if they thought they legally had the right to violate his free speech rights because it was their “private property) without manhandling him. Looks like he was assaulted to me – assault and battery.

Wasn’t this at a public university? Did they have the right to claim that this was “private property”?

  • Carol HAKA

    USC is a private university.

  • I’mFedUp

Really, troll? So, I guess just like your moron boss you think that people’s rights and privacy can be violated at will, right? No matter who this person is (and we know you’re pissed because he called out all of the brain dead voters who voted for the Fraud), he doesn’t deserve to be silenced. Maybe at Troll School they can hand you some documents like the Constitution, etc.

As for Palin, that interview was edited and meant to trash her. Your buffoon pal the Fraud should be so lucky to be as great a politician as she is. No worries there though. The Fraud will forever be remembered as the clueless buffoon who went on 60 Minutes high as a kite, forcing the interviewer to ask if he was “punch drunk” for giggling his ass off about the failed economy. Nice.

  • Docelder

Katie Couric just received an industry “high five” for validating the far left’s hatred of Palin with her intentional and edited ambush. Network news has veered off into “entertainment”. They no longer report the news… instead they try to “be” the news by creating it and being a part of it. There is a big paradigm shift in there. These people aren’t journalists, but entertainers… therefore, the whole idea of a “journalism” award is a farce to begin with.

  • GlowingSpark

    Are you serious? You wrote:

This is one of the few places that we can all have polite, creative, honest conversation.

Polite? Do you think you’re polite? You personally attack everyone who you disagree with. It’s easy to be polite with people you agree with. The test of a person’s character is how they interact with people they don’t agree with. You’re the most vile person on NO Quarter. You should be proud of yourself.

  • KintheNorthwest

    Anyone else having problems posting

  • KintheNorthwest

I just hope nobody does something stupid to Obama.
That would really screw up the Nation.

  • trixta

I second that comparison, Candymar! There has been a vicious takeover of this country since 2000, and the nightmare continues. The Tea Parties, however, are indicative of a growing critical mass of dissent across Party lines. The Obots do have something to fear!

  • I’mFedUp

Uh oh, smacked down by a troll. Wow I feel bad. I guess you guys really don’t like when people tell the truth. By the way, I am far from the rudest person here…the trolls take that prize, like you.

  • TeakWoodKite

    I’mFedUp…grrrr.

  • I’mFedUp

    See, I’m learning Teakwood.

  • trixta

Linda, having mass protests over the erosion of the Constitution on the 4th of July (and continuously thereafter) would make a great statement. This said, I don’t think the Tea Parties are a red herring. The robbing of our treasury for generations to come is an important issue and the very reason GWB and Obama were installed as our puppet presidents in the first place. But I do agree, without the Constitution, we really have no democracy or country for that matter.

  • trixta

Hey, No-nonsense Nancy, I’m all for that too! But I think protests on the 4th of July protest would be significant.

Does anyone know when Obama’s birthday is? That would be one more day dissenters could demand to see his birth certificate.

  • trixta

Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see Obama as a disgraced and historically disastrous president.

  • KintheNorthwest

    Good one….

And I used to think she was cute. Katie Couric, too. But that old fool that existed before the election of 2008 is long gone. This is a brand new old fool . . .

  • I’m a Linda too

    That is beyond outrageous.

and can we get a pot-kettle-black here? Annenburg blocking rights and freedom of speech. WAY beyond ironic.

And it also shows that if you call the police to tell them you want something enforced because of…. (what ever load of crap you tell them) they will try to enforce the wishes without practicing the law or knowledge of the situation even. Welcome to ignorance.

It was funny however that the other cop had to help get his partner out of the tough situation by contradicting himself.

  • UKforDems

Why aren’t you called up for your sick disgusting bigoted statements you filthy bigotbot? Who on Earth are you to call Justice Ginsburg mentally ill? Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has more class in her finger tip than you would have ever displayed in your filthy hate filled existence.

  • tminu

the BC is a red herring, it’s a deliberate way to obfuscate and keep our eyes off the prize

OBAMA IS NOT A NATURAL BORN US CITIZEN
    HIS FATHER WAS KENYAN
    DIRT AND BLOOD
    JUS SOLI JUS SANGUINUS

Chester Arthur did the same diversion, ALL we need to know is right in front of us, without denial, without objection.

OBAMA IS AN ILLEGAL INSTALLED PUPPET
He does not need to show us anything to know he’s INELIGIBLE AS POTUS

  • yttik

Oh my goodness! A reporter getting arrested for trying to report at a reporter’s award ceremony. That is the irony of ironies.

  • Carol HAKA

Your wishes will unfortunately come true!

  • Latina

Welcome to the UNITED STATES OF OBAMA (formerly USA) were conservative reporters are arrested for doing their job and liberal/biased “reporters” are congratulated for attacking like a “rabid dog” a bystander’s solicited comment.

  • jbjd

The SCOTUS cannot be said to be covering for BO, based on their refusal to hear any of the cases presented thus far on the issue of his Constitutional eligibility to hold the office of POTUS. Because these cases were legally infirm, as evaluated under several criteria. Last year, when Berg first brought his first case, I predicted, BO’s attorneys would ask the court to toss the Complaint for failure to state a claim for which relief could be granted; and lack of standing. Months later, the judge dismissed the case for failure to state a claim for which relief could be granted; and lack of standing. I have written extensively on the legal reasons for dismissal of all of these cases.

Until a case that is both procedurally and substantively sound (having been dismissed by the district court) reaches the SCOTUS and is denied a hearing, accusations that the SCOTUS is “covering for Obama on the BC issue” lack a basis in fact or in law.

  • jbjd

Just to make sure people reading this comment are not misled… Yes, Obama has been in power for only a few months but, the Congress has been Democratically controlled for more than 2 (two) years now. (Any money bill they passed, President Bush signed.)

  • jbjd

    Neither did I.

  • jbjd

    I love “scampaigning.”

Yes, but, remember… State laws still entitle these two “major political part[ies]” to get the name of their nominee for POTUS printed onto the general election ballot, usually just by submitting his (or her) name to the S of S; and certifying that he (or she) is the Party’s nominee!

Everyone, USC is not giving Katie Couric a journalism award; Annenberg is. See, the Annenberg Communication Center at USC is actually just a Continuing Education program that issues only post-Master’s Certificates, not degrees; and it is located on the USC Campus.

    http://continuingeducation.usc.edu/schools/Communication.cfm

To get this Cronkite Award, you have to submit nomination papers.

Remember, we went through this before: Annenberg Political Fact Check (“FactCheck.org”) at UPenn.

Growing Snark — you don’t have anything to add to the discussion, but you feel free to criticize? See how great freedom of speech is? In some countries you’d not only be censored, you’d be shot.

Good points Latina. Either shut up and get on (or under) the Obama bus. Try to ask a question and get handcuffed. Get invited to ask a question, but ask the wrong one, people try to ruin your life.

I’m not seeing any difference between the far left and far right at this point.

    That really bothers me.

I also contributed to and worked for Hillary’s campaign. I knew the way Hillary supporters were treated at the RBC meeting ,that if he managed to lie and cheat his way into the presidency we were in trouble, deep trouble. May31,2008 will be a day I remember for the rest of my life. And everything I see and hear just furthers my belief that if we don’t stand up for our country NOW it won’t be a country we recognize before too long. This is absolutely terrifying that you can’t speak out, make a movie, etc. without being arrested. It finally made me post here, I just visited before, but it seems a friendly place so if nobody minds,I’ll be back if I’m not hauled off as an enemy combatant.

Yep, these “awards” are not based on ethical standards, hard work, or anything like that. They’re like many middle school and high school elections: the popular kids get the prize. (But don’t think “popular” means popular with the general population, because–just as in middle school and high school–most of the population doesn’t participate in the “election.” She got the “award” for being popular with all the other pretend journalists.

  • Cathy in Ks.

jbjd, I followed your links. So Katie Couric applied to Annenberg for this Cronkite Award (which in Couric’s case is really an “entertainment” certificate)? Poor Walter Cronkite. To see his legacy debased by someone like Couric.

BTW, once upon a time I used to like Katie Couric. However I watched her do an interview with Elizabeth Edwards during the democratic primaries and I thought she violated most people’s sense of decency by implying that Elizabeth Edwards should stay home with her family – especially since she had cancer. That did it for me. I never watched Couric again.

Orly Taitz on Citizen Wells found evidence that one of Berg’s assistants was diverting HER paypal donations and has a very very long criminal history, and that Berg’s emphasis on the BIRTH CERTIFICATE is a RED HERRING. The REAL ISSUE is that Obama’s father was KENYAN and he is, was, and can never be a natural born citizen *jus soli jus sanguinus*.

This is the gameplan Chester Arthur used too, diversion from what’s as obvious as the noses on our faces:

OBAMA IS NOT CONSTITUTIONALLY ELIGIBLE TO BE POTUS BECAUSE BOTH OF HIS PARENTS NEEDED TO BE US CITIZENS.

This is absolutely outrageous. Is this the United Sates of Obama or the United States of America? What a bunch of fascist thugs… USC ought to be ashamed of itself and Mr. Ziegler needs a lawyer pronto.

  • jbjd

Cathy, the network could have nominated her, too. The point is, the award is not granted by USC but by Annenberg. No credibility whatsoever. And what does this say about Ms. Couric, that she would be so please about receiving such an empty ‘accolade’?

John Ziegler is not quite a journalist. He used to be a radio talk-show host. I used to listen to him every weeknight on KFI in Los Angeles. He was entertaining.

But I wonder about his mental state. When he was fired from KFI 18 months ago, Zig responded by posting a long rant on the Internet wherein he outed another (more popular) KFI host as a closet homosexual.

He also trashed Hillary Clinton often.

    Just sayin’…

  • Andy

    jbjd;

Indeed that maybe so. But forget about how Couriec got this award per se.

What I want to know who are these security people? Is this the USC campus police? On whose orders are they acting? Does Annenberg have such an influence with USC to do this? Why are they harassing Mr. Ziegler and handcuffing him (taking his freedom away physically) without spelling the charges to him or giving him a miranda? The police or security does not threaten people with an arrest while handcuffed. Either they arrest you and handcuff with charges or they don’t. There is not in between.
Who gave them the authority to do this? Campus police is still police. Private property has nothing to do with anything. There are no “no trespassing” signs on campuses.

This very unusual and seems unconstitutional to me.

  • Ferd Berfle

And what does this say about Ms. Couric, that she would be so please about receiving such an empty ‘accolade’?

I is not clear that is the “private property” definition we are usually refer to. It is a private university, and the parameters of PRIVACY and tresspasing are very disputable in a public event. Add to this, the man is a reporter, and who knows… If the University accepts any public Funding or Federal Funding (which all of them do) the University might be exposed to a Civil Suit.
It is clear as night and day who was the agressor and whose rights were tresspased and by whom.

  • JozefAL

Wouldn’t the real “most ironic irony” be in a man described as a “conservative journalist” criticizing another journalist for being “partisan”?
Or does that just fall under the standard “pot calling the kettle black”?
Where was all the conservative outrage over the Bush “public meetings” a few years ago, when you had to have an “invitation” to be there? Where was all the conservative outrage at the “journalists” who got to lob softballs at Dubya for years?
I know–there’s probably going to be some apologist criticizing me for “that was then, this is now”, but quite frankly, I don’t care. If this man didn’t have permission to be on the grounds or as USC claims, CHANGED the agreed-upon terms for his being there (technically speaking, the school IS, after all, “private property”), then he is a LAWBREAKER (not usually something that goes hand-in-hand with being a paragon of conservatism).
This man is no more a “journalist” than Katie Couric. According to his Wiki bio, he has a degree in GOVERNMENT with a minor in Theology and Philosophy. He then became a sportscaster. Please note the added IRONY in his claims against Couric.

More than that, I’m wondering how the conservative Republicans who stayed home because they didn’t want McCain feel? They as much as anyone are to blame for this mess. You can see how the Dims could sell out based on voting against 8 years of Republican malfeasance. But McCain would not have been the Bush III that we have now. Obama is even worse, actually. I never thought Bush hated America only that he was in the pocket of Big Money and used the religious right to stay in office. When they looked the other way, they let Obama in.

Later, they did say that the media area was some 7 feet from where he was originally, so after being cuffed and mauled and pushed to that area he was asked to leave.
USC couldn’t decide whether he was a journalist or not, in either case they abused him and they are liable for damages.

Because I feel at this point, even if it were proven, people/congress would just say, Oh, but it was such a wonderful success story, born of a white mother and black father, his father from Kenya, let’s just amend the constitution! And then they would (unless the Repubs hold the majority by that time). No, unfortunately, I think we all have to eat this one, but start those investigations much sooner next time. There was trouble with my address and people getting mail that didn’t live at my house for the Franken and Ellison campaigns. I complained until I was hoarse to every level I could about ACORN using my address and was told I could not have these names removed!!!! Anyway, Franken is also a big fat cheater/liar. Ellison, too. If you knew some things I learned about him from Clinton delegates, you’d want Ellison out, too! The good news is that I have sources deep in the DFL who said Franken hates Obama. Obama wouldn’t help him one bit and refused to rally with/for him or have any photos, so I’m hoping if we get stuck with Franken he will stand up to O. He seems like a whimp though, but I have to hope. I still want Coleman!

timinu a natural born citizen is one born in the US and the citizenship of parents does not matter. That is why so many illegal immigrants are not citizens and their children are. The issue of Chester Arthur’s citizenship arose because many believed he had been born in Canada. By a strange coincidence, he is one of only three US presidents to have taken the oath twice. The other two were Obama and I think, Cleveland. The issue with Obama is the same. Was he born in Kenya, did he renounce his Kenyan citizenship and if he did, when did it happen and is there a record? His relatives said he was born there. Anyone one here who knows for sure is either dead or not talking.

elise, the definition of “natural born” is a Constitutional issue that the SCOTUS has never really heard. What you’re talking about is “citizen” status that was granted by the 14th Amendment. Article 2, Section 1 implies a difference between “citizen” and “natural born citizen.” The framer of the 14th Amendment even stated that there was a difference, and that “natural born citizen” was one born of two U.S. citizen parents.

I don’t follow those cases anymore because I just don’t think SCOTUS is ever going to hear one. I still would love to see Obama’s BC and college records made public someday. He’s definitely hiding something, as evidenced by his hiring multiple law firms and spending a million bucks to keep them hidden. Apparently, Obama’s BC, college records, pass port records are more sensitive than Top Secret CIA records.

I can’t get that worked up over Ziegler’s problems. But, when Steven Anderson was attacked by Arizona state highway patrol and police recently, I got pretty worked up about that.

Here’s what the 4th Amendment says about that:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Baptist pastor Steven Anderson was beaten and tased repeatedly by police and Arizona highway patrol officers for asserting his rights under the 4th amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The day afterward, he filmed this video describing what happened to him:

    http://www.infowars.com/baptist-pastor-says-he-was-tased-beaten-by-border-patrol/

I got worked up over Cheye Calvo, Berwyn Heights Mayor, whose house was raided by a swat team, which slaughtered his two labs, after the police themselves set them up in a drug sting operation:

When the shooting stopped, two dogs lay dead. A mayor sat in his boxers, hands bound behind his back. His handcuffed mother-in-law was sprawled on the kitchen floor, lying beside the body of one of the family pets that police had killed before her eyes.

The thing is buddy, nowadays everyone is a criminal – no matter what: ” The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. ”
It is now “reasonable” to consider anyone and everyone a criminal and threat to whatever the powers that be are protecting at the moment, even if it’s just their own law enforcement egos or out of control “mandates” and “dictates” from on high.
I think the conbination of all the domestic wars the government has undeclared and declared, along with the insane media driven frenzy of suspicion on everything and everyone has created a climate where anyone and everyone is a lawbreaker. And let’s face it, technically, with the tens or hundreds of thousands of laws standing on the books, everyone IS a lawbreaker nowadays. It’s almost to the point that breathing is a fineable global warming pollutant crime, and it may soon some day be, unless the proper fee is paid.
So, everyone is now a suspect, and there really is no chance of them not being able to claim instant and on the spot “reasonable suspicion”. They can create it from a thousand diferent excuses, and unless you have a dream team lawyer, you might as well forget it.
I’m not sure how different it ever was, but it’s becoming ever clearer how it really is.
Don’t ever open your mouth in opposiotn during the search and interrogation etc, that much is clear – that submission is an absolute requirement, because you are outgunned, outmuscled, and they will outlie anything and everything you ever dreamed of, even if you are an expert deciever.
