“this is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks”

(This must-read has been bumped up from early Friday morning.)

The liberal MSM continues to bash the Tax Day Tea Parties and the attendees, dismissing them, mocking them, and acting confused as to the purpose. This particular video has me so enraged I spun around like a dog chasing its tail for about an hour, trying to figure out how to reply.

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

First, I would like to ask the liberal MSM, and hateful people like Garofalo, wasn’t Barack Obama elected POTUS, in large part, because of the anger and frustration over Bush’s last couple of years in office? (I say last couple of years, since he was reelected in 2004.)

I thought, for many, Obama represented “CHANGE” from what was happening in Washington, the out of control spending, and ever growing government, and lack of transparency. We heard over and over again that people crossed party lines to vote for Obama. And on top of that, Obama promised repeatedly that he would give tax cuts to anyone making less than $300, $250, $200,000/year.

Since taking office, Obama has continued the Bush policies and created an even greater deficit. A deficit that WILL be repaid through higher taxes.

With the additional $3+ trillion dollar debt created under Obama and the Dem led Congress, people have had ENOUGH. Why is it so hard for the media to grasp the concept that people from both sides of the aisle, and those firmly in the middle, don’t like the irresponsible government spending that started under Bush, and is continuing tenfold under Obama?

The media just doesn’t want you to know/believe/understand that.

“Look, look over there, it’s a puppy!”

The tea parties were non-partisan events, and not just about “hating” Obama, as the media would have you believe. They were about people being fed up! Taxes may have been recently cut for some people, but they WILL go up. It is naïve to think that we can have this kind of debt, and taxes won’t go up. People were also protesting the state taxes that are skyrocketing around the country, including cigarette tax, residential tax, school tax, and gas and sales tax. They were also protesting the never ending bailouts, and the failure by Congress to even read the bills before signing them!

I don’t know the numbers of Dems vs. Repubs vs. Independents that were in attendance, and maybe there were more conservatives (because FOX actually covered the events?), but they weren’t all about “hating” Obama. They were about the perpetually worsening big government spending. Obama is the one in charge now, so, yes, it also about him, and his policies.

One of the favorite mantras used by the Left is that the Right is stirring up hate. The liberal MSM has attacked FOX and conservatives for years over this. (I know – it used to work on me.) But, what the HELL do you call what Janeane Garafalo and KO are doing in this video?

Don’t they think that calling half of the country “racist” stirs up hate? (I say HALF because this isn’t the first time Garofalo has referred to Conservatives as racist.) If calling millions of Americans Stockholm syndrome suffering racists isn’t inciting hate and violence, I don’t know what is. (I know, because after I saw the video I wanted to smack them both in the face.)

The Left was so determined that these tea parties were nothing more than racist hate filled “tea baggers” they set out to prove it any way possible. ACORN, Huffington Post and Daily Kos all planned to sabotage the events and infiltrate them to make the tea parties look like they were fringe group efforts full of racists. Individual bloggers also dressed up goofy, made signs that subtly mocked the tea parties, and went to the events with the intentions to stir up trouble. CNN did their best as well, as we saw here. And msnbc and CNN tried to humiliate the attendees all week, calling them tea baggers.

There were 69.4 Million people that voted for Obama, but 121,829,580 (of the 231,229,580 eligible voters) people did not, and 60 Million of those voted for McCain. So, while the majority of the media is obviously liberal, they should remember that there are millions of Americans that although they didn’t vote for Obama, they have a right to be heard, too. To disparage them and mock them is a big mistake (which might explain the dismal ratings of CNN and msnbc, and all three major networks).

Ignoring, stifling, and mocking the voices of half a country is a formula for disaster, in my opinion. I saw this quote online, and liked it, “Suppressing people with different ideas is a form of violence that hits at the heart of civil society.”

The liberal media utilizes the same ugly tactics perpetuated by psychological and emotional abusers, to intimidate and suppress dissent. The constant belittling and humiliating, constant statements that the victim is mentally ill [racist, hateful, rednecks, bible clinging gun toting hicks] etc., constant criticism, public humiliation, playing on community and cultural fears, constant berating, etc. There are many methods of emotional abuse, and the liberal media is utilizing many, if not all of them, to discredit FOX, and anyone who questions the liberal MSM agenda.

Aggressing
• Aggressive forms of abuse include name-calling, accusing, blaming, threatening, and ordering. Aggressing behaviors are generally direct and obvious. The one-up position the abuser assumes by attempting to judge or invalidate the recipient undermines the equality and autonomy that are essential to healthy adult relationships.

• Aggressive abuse can also take a more indirect form and may even be disguised and “helping.” Criticizing, advising, offering solutions, analyzing, proving, and questioning another person may be a sincere attempt to help. In some instances however, these behaviors may be an attempt to belittle, control, or demean rather than help. The underlying judgmental “I know best” tone the abuser takes in these situations is inappropriate and creates unequal footing in peer relationships. This and other types of emotional abuse can lead to what is known as learned helplessness.

Denial
• Denying a person’s emotional needs, especially when they feel that need the most, and done with the intent of hurting, punishing or humiliating
• The other person may deny that certain events occurred or that certain things were said. confronts the abuser about an incident of name calling, the abuser may insist, “I never said that,” “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” etc. You know differently.
• The other person may deny your perceptions, memory and very sanity.
• Withholding is another form of denying. Withholding includes refusing to listen, refusing to communicate, and emotionally withdrawing as punishment. This is sometimes called the “silent treatment.”
• When the abuser disallows and overrules any viewpoints, perceptions or feelings which differ from their own.
• Denying can be particularly damaging. In addition to lowering self-esteem and creating conflict, the invalidation of reality, feelings, and experiences can eventually lead you to question and mistrust your own perceptions and emotional experience.
• Denying and other forms of emotional abuse can cause you to lose confidence in your most valuable survival tool: your own mind. [Did the President BOW or not? See how that works?]

Invalidation
• The abuser seeks to distort or undermine the recipient’s perceptions of their world. Invalidating occurs when the abuser refuses or fails to acknowledge reality. For example, if the recipient tells the person they felt hurt by something the abuser did or said, the abuser might say “You are too sensitive. That shouldn’t hurt you.”

Minimizing
• Minimizing is a less extreme form of denial. When minimizing, the abuser may not deny that a particular event occurred, but they question the recipient’s emotional experience or reaction to an event. Statements such as “You’re too sensitive,” “You’re exaggerating,” or “You’re blowing this out of proportion” all suggest that the recipient’s emotions and perceptions are faulty and not be trusted.
• Trivializing, which occurs when the abuser suggests that what you have done or communicated is inconsequential or unimportant, is a more subtle form of minimizing. [Like telling people that Obama has no idea the tea parties even exist…]

Verbal Assaults
• Berating, belittling, criticizing, name calling, screaming, threatening
• Excessive blaming, and using sarcasm and humiliation.
• Blowing your flaws out of proportion and making fun of you in front of others. Over time, this type of abuse erodes your sense of self confidence and self-worth.

When the liberal media controls 75% of the message, and constantly wages this type of war on half the country, it can influence behavior. And they know that, which is why they practice this type of control. It can make people intimidated, and hesitant to speak out. It can make people feel repressed, and afraid, some people don’t want to be mocked and laughed at. Think of a bully on the playground. It works on the greater population just like it works on a wife or a child.

But that feeling of repression only lasts so long. Eventually those feelings grow from doubt to frustration to outrage or helplessness. People become outraged that they aren’t being listened to, or exhausted of feeling belittled, humiliated, and abused. (Don’t believe me? Just ask Lorena Bobbitt or Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover.)

Some people, like many readers here, don’t care and speak out and speak often, but this type of “abuse” does work on many. It’s ugly and should not be allowed to continue. All those videos we saw just this week, with Maddow, Shuster, Olbermann, Cooper, and others, mocking and trying to humiliate fellow Americans were ugly and despicable. They weren’t funny, and they certainly weren’t worthy of a “news network”. They were outright rude, and flat out abusive.

The liberal MSM is always attacking FOX. The liberal media controls 75% of the message, and they do their best to discredit the only dissenting channel that represents the conservative message. Everyone is America, whether you like or watch FOX or not, should be glad they exist. They exist for the purpose of providing an opposing view to the majority control of the media. Without FOX and talk radio, wouldn’t we basically be living under a dictatorship type controlled media message?

I am not saying that FOX is perfect and I am not saying they have never made mistakes. But, I now question everything I heard for eight years from the Left, and no longer believe what I once thought to be the truth. I have now seen how the liberal MSM lies, how they misrepresent, and how they abuse dissenters.

And I am thankful that FOX exists, if for the sole purpose of providing an opposing view – and as I now know, for providing the actual news. The only reason FOX seems extreme to some is because they present an opposing view to the majority of the controlled message.

And they are in no way as extreme when compared to the filth and hatred coming from people like Garofalo and Olbermann.

I still don’t get the charge that any disagreement with 0bama is racist – he’s half white.

(Maybe if it’s someone other than a Caucasian disagreeing with him, then you could make the case that it’s racist?)

Every American president has had an opposition. So what’s the big deal?

    • I’m a Linda too

Well really, there is no basis for playing the race card, so it doesn’t matter that he’s half white or not, it’s still racism for them to call anyone who opposes what Obama does as racist.

Look, they are calling anyone who voice opposition to the outrageous spending he’s doing as Red Necks, apparently their term of endearment for Fiscally Responsible folks. And Janeane … Howard Dean was known as a Fiscal Conservative. uh oh!

      • FLDemFem

We’re not rednecks, we’re just cheap. We see no reason to put future generations deep in debt so the banks and Obummer’s corporate buddies can get a free ride out of the ditch they drove themselves into. That’s not being a redneck, it’s being financially responsible. You know, CHEAP.

    • termo

When people who voted Obama have to revert to the racism charge to support him then you know why they voted for him which had nothing at all to do with any experience or qualifications. In doing so they actually degrade Obama.

      • Ani

Agreed. As soon as any of his supporters play the race card, you know they’ve lost the argument. It simply means you have asked a question or leveled a charge they have no answer for, so, like a bully in a playground, cornered and angry, they resort to calling you the worst name in the book: racist.

They don’t even know what it means. And this just shows such a person who would resort to such foul and unfair tactics has nothing else to bring to the table.

You are also correct that it is insulting to President Obama. At the press conference/national address where he was explaining his plans on the economy to the American people, one female reporter lamely tried to play the race card by asking (in veiled language) whether he was being treated any differently for being a black President.

To his credit, he basically said people were judging him on the job he was doing and nothing else. I was pleased that, for once, he did not play the race card. Certainly he found it very useful in his rhetoric many times out on the campaign trail.

JGarafolo shows her ignorance and snobbery with this behavior. She and Olbie both need to keep their clueless and uneducated feelings to themselves. I know a number of Democrats who voted for Obama who are also ready to figuratively “storm the bastille”. They dislike Geithner and these ridiculous fiscal policies.

We are all Americans, and the far left are not the only people allowed to protest something. Guess what, moderates of all stripe and the right get to protest, too. Looks like the protests were very orderly and civil — no racism that I could see.

Great job, AGII. Thank you for taking the time to put together a great piece. Just as some political groups on the right were trying to use tea parties to further their own agenda, people on the left like JG, Keithie, that Dem Congresswomen from IL, etc., by demonizing those in attendance are also politicizing the situation — and innocent protesters get caught in the middle.

Any President has to be able to handle criticism, and address it. Any President who did what Obama is doing would be on the receiving end of the same, regardless of race, gender or age.

        • toni

I don’t think that it is insulting to Obama. He started and baited the racism as a means to an end. To act above it all now is disingenuous.

          • Ani

Yes, he did start the race baiting — this falls squarely on his shoulders. I agree with you. I am merely pointing out that Ms. Garafolo considers him such a hero, yet she is inadvertently insulting him with this line of hate tripe that she is spewing, because it indicates that she doesn’t think he has anything else to offer either, nor does she think he can withstand honest criticism. Ironic.

      • silverfox

i wonder sometimes if the folks who cry racism all the time over any disagreement with the obam puppet are the one’s who voted for him primarily because he is african american/mixed race, and when he is rightfully challenged, they themselves are unconsciously challenged in a very personal and race based place… something to think about since in this regard they rarely make any sense except to each other.

what a pity for ms garofalo, needing to get attention this way… quel career ms g? mr stiller can only get you so far dear. i apologise to ms ggarofalo for the harsh, but she is the one choosing to put her neck on the block. what’s fair for the goose is fair for the gander.

        anywyas…

        • FranSC

Silverfox, you do NOT owe Garofalo any apology in any shape, form, or fashion. Doing her best to play the intellectual snob (that she is not – intellectual that is), JG overworked the word “cerebral”, in effect saying only those with superior intelligence, college degrees, great careers or anything representative of their cerebral gifts, are worth listening to.

What a g-r-o-s-s generalization to say that the “teabaggers” are racist rednecks. It is the likes of JG who don’t have a clue as to what B0 has done since winning the ge, by hook and crook. They just support him BECAUSE he claims to be AA (when he is bi-racial). Michelle is the only AA in the White House.

I used to like Garofalo – loved that dog movie she did way back. In my “other” political life, I was very happy when she became Al Franken’s side-kick on their left-leaning radio talk show. Altho I realize I am a changed person politically speaking since 2008, she has gone off the rails.

But, reduced to its lowest terms, it is an effort by the far-left to blast FoxNews since they are far and away #1 in the ratings, and secondly, try to humiliate anti-0bama people by making us fearful of saying anything against that illigitimate imposter called the POTUS.

To be lectured by JG and others that as a college-educated, life-long, liberal, activist, feminist, Hillary-supporting democrat who became interested in politics in high school primarily because of injustices suffered by black Americans, that I am a racist redneck is insanity. I know and understand exactly who and what I am. I don’t give a DAMN WHAT they think of anything I say. It will not deter me from saying what I think of this man who is where he is due to layers and layers of fraud, lies, misrepresentations and violating the constitution of the US.

Even if I agreed with everything he has done or will ever do, how can I EVER respect, be led by, and “give credit when credit is due” (that won’t happen) to someone guilty of either doing all of the above or allowing it to be done on his behalf? I, for one, cannot.

          • zoo zoo

(((CHEERING))) It is so wonderful to read your sentiments. I am proud that people are finally standing up for themselves, their principles, and their individual freedom to THINK. Bravo to you and to everyone on this board who refuses to become one of the ØBorg.

I am a person of color and a lifelong Democrat, and I REFUSE to let people call me a racist because I don’t agree with Ø’s policies or admire him for his nonexistent accomplishments.

The same way I was proud to see Americans come together after 9/11, perhaps the tragic events of the 2008 election will wake us up. The boom decades have made us all complacent and it’s time for a 60s style revolution.

      • Sharon Y

        Excellent point!

    • Carol HAKA

Pretty sure the term “teabagging rednecks” would meet the level of “hate crime” – 1st Degree with Special Circumstances.

So, STFU you hateful racist – Garafolo!

      CAROL HAKA

      • Paul23

Oh, no- keep talking. The more outrageous, the better. I think this stuff is starting to wake up even moderate Democrats and well-intentioned, but misguided liberals.

        • no kidding

Paul23 — I agree with you. I couldn’t have been voting Dem for 44 years if I believed they hated any American who disagreed with them. Racical Leftists have taken over the party and it will be interesting to see how long the Moderate Dems continue to hang with these Radicals when the election rolls around in 2010.

          • ScottVA

I hear you…. I’m a gay man who’s been a Dem voter for quite a while now. This past election my partner and I (BOTH) voted for McCain because we didn’t like what NoBama and the left wing nut jobs were doing to the Party. A bunch of socialists that hijacked the party! Dems ARE WAKING UP and that’s why the left wingers are scared… so to beat them back they decide to play the race card… hey it worked for them in November! LOL Unfortunately, you can only cry wolf so many times!

        • Diana

          Lou Dobbs agrees with you.
          http://tinyurl.com/cmxz9g

Jon Stewert also pulled a sneaky one and is now busted. I was just getting over my anger at him from the primaries. Here he goes again. When you have one person tell a lie and get caught people might think it was an honest mistake. But, when you have 2,3 10, 20, 100 people telling lies and getting caught, people wake up.
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_i3MgfRNqc

There were both Democrat and Republicans at those tea parties. They were protesting BOTH Democrat and Republican bailouts. Stimulus packages. They were protesting both Bush and Obama. SO they can try to twist it however they like, the people that drove by them, that were there. The many video’s show the truth.

          • Diana

You know what is really sad. Only one man from both sides actually got the tea parties. One man. Mr. Gingrich and he’s now warned the Republicans to watch for 2012 to change the landscape of both parties with the rise of a third party.

They can scream all they want about FOX being a right wing hack. But, the TRUTH is the truth and Fox is the only station reporting it. As more people see the truth watch as their numbers continue to grow while the others slink into oblivion.

        • FranSC

Yes, that’s the silver lining! People will not stand by and be accused of these completely outrageous charges. Democrats are really stupid and have always shot themselves in the foot. I know. I was very much like many of these people for a long time. I just regret my wakeup call had to be so extreme.

      • http://firefox AnnieCollier

hahahaha…sad little tattooed person; depressed little lizard brain. These guys are hilarious.

    • politicalidentitycrisis

They use racism because it’s all they have. They certainly can’t spout off about how good the policies are for our country. Do you ever notice that lefties seem to worry more about the world and their pie in the sky Kumbayah/can’t we all just get along meme than they do about our Country? I care about the world, too, but our Government’s job is to do the best for our country. That is what we put them in there for. If they want to rule the world, then I suggest they set up their World Government adrift on the ocean and run it from their so we can have real leaders whose first loyalty is to America.

  • I’m a Linda too

Great post, thank you AGI. But I won’t click on the MSNBC video, I’ll leave it to the brave souls that screan them for us.

I caught JG ‘s dispicable racism on the newspaper.

Something must have happened to Garofalo, she has become a racist and hypocrite. Now the woman who campaigned with Joan Jett for Howard Dean, and I guess voted for Weary Barry, now doesn’t believe in citizen activism, grassroots and speaking truth to power. GO FIGURE. Maybe she should take drinking back up if she’s having this big of a problem with life.

Very sad. I can’t even classify her as a Left Wing Nut, because there’s no idealism there, just hate and angriness. OH! Angry and hateful, yes, that is Obama supporters. OK, Janeane is now just a Left Wing Nut.

    • I’m a Linda too

And this is the same person who wanted protection of speech and blasted AAR for suspending Randi Rhodes for her crude and vulgar comments on the Democratic Presidential Candidate, former First Lady and sitting Senator Hillary Clinton.

      ….now Janeane?

    • rw

-Something must have happened to Garofalo-

Me thinks the lady doth protest toooo much. She uses the words racism, racist, white supremacy too often for them not to come from a dark place inside herself.

      • I’m a Linda too

well, if she was honest that she doesn’t have a computer anymore….or maybe she just mean she doesn’t do email, she is building herself an isolated made up life.

She actually isn’t protesting enuf. She’s busy being unable to handle the reality and what her Obama is that she is irrationaly trying to attack the innocent and make excuses.

      • toni

That’s because it really isn’t Garofalo…it is another Stepford Democrat ;)

  • KmX

You need to the post the video of Lou Dobbs replying to her outrageous statements. Also the guy From Red Eye blasted her.

She literally called people of color and women who are republicans have a mental disorder (Stockholm Syndrome)

Black American Conservatives are outraged by her ignorance:

  • ame

Comments like the one Janeane Garofolo spewed, demonstrates how intolerant the left is of dissenting opinions when it comes to the Obama administration. Anytime someone speaks out against Obama’s policies, they are accused of racism. We saw this during the election and this behavior continues now. This political game the left is playing is very destructive in my opinion. The only thing they’re doing is widening the divide between the left and the right.

    • politicalidentitycrisis

Hmmmm. In 2008, the talk was Obama was a great uniter. I did see him as a great divider of the democratic party, so I couldn’t see how he could possibly unite this country. It would seem that I (us here at NQ) were correct and the lefties were wrong about Obama on so many levels.

    • CentralMass

The new democratic base is made up of militant psycophants. They wanted to win at all costs and are now more concerned with fighting then what they were fighting for.

  • I’mFedUp

I have no earthly idea why the American public gives credit to these “celebrities.” And, as I stated on another thread, some of these pieces of crap use the media and their radical, moonbat statements, for publicity when their career is all dried up. Like this pig. Kinda’ funny that she says something so out of line, insane and sick, but those who opposed the Fraud are the lunatics? WTF?

As for the “racist” thing? I hope they keep it up. The troll scum has been here for days, since the tea party, ranting about rednecks and racism. Good for them! Can you say “backfire?” Americans are tired of being called disparaging names for opposing a very dangerous Stoner in Chief and Pelosi the Pig’s Criminal CONgress. Bring it! We’ll see you at the polls in 2010 and 2012!!!!

    • ame

Here’s the problem; Janeane Garofolo is not the only idiot out there making unfounded accusations like this one. The MSM is doing the same thing. All Americans should be outrage. I believe the mainstream media is trying to shut down dissent by playing the race card.

      • politicalidentitycrisis

Well, they can go to hell. Being called a racist has no effect on me. I just plain don’t care. I am too sick of it to care. Even if there was racism for real, I would not give a damn to speak up about it anymore. It’s not my battle anymore. Such a horribly racist country to elect a black man and then have the audacity to hold him to the same standards we would a white man, a woman or anyone else. The horror!

        • Paula Revere

Oh for God’s sake…We ELECTED a so called “black” man as POTUS. So where the hell are we “racist?” Uhhh…AAs are only, what, 15-20% of the American population? So clearly it wasn’t just AAs voting for him. So, in other words, WTF with the “racist” crap? That’s OVER.

    • ame

By 2010 and 2012 it will be too late; irreversible damage done.

      • I’mFedUp

Yes, you are right. Every day BO is in office is more threatening to our safety, security and prosperity. I personally wish they would cart the Fraud out of the White House in an orange jumpsuit that says “Property of Joliette Federal Prison.” He can get his three hots and a cot elsewhere, out of our White House LOL.

2010 isn’t that far off. It’s a start to get rid of people like Dodd, Reid, etc. and to make the moonbats the minority so that Botox Queen Pelosi can STFU and be disempowered. Until then, we keep fighting against this pathetic SADministration and their criminal acts.

  • L

There is no doubt that a large number of BO supporters
have personality disorders. It has always been my
experience that those on the far left are more hateful
and intolerant than those on the right. somewhat of a
    dichotomy.

    • I’mFedUp

If you voted for the Fraud, you clearly have either a serious mental disorder, or your IQ didn’t quite hit the “50″ mark.

  • Katmoon

    American Girl,

I’m so glad you wrote this. I had posted late last night about this very thing after peeking in on the commenter remarks I had read on Huffpoop; I believe there will be a very quick backlash seen in conversations about the topic between everyday people. I have already heard a great deal of upset from fellow students at school, from a variety of ages and backgrounds. There is a huge miscalculation on the part of anyone pushing the idea that somehow exercising one’s First Amendment Rights is akin to stupidity or racism. Not to be an alarmist, there is a true sense and feeling of people being fed up with this behavior, and being labeled and denigrated. There isn’t a whole lot of tolerance left for deliberate bias as experienced for quite some time now. I honestly believe it is only a matter of time before there is some sort of physical altercation from either side, as a breaking point. I don’t condone it, but I also understand people reach their limit in frustration and ability to handle being ridiculed, particularly by “fellow” citizens.

  • Eastan McNeal

“The day Chris Matthews cried, and his tingle died.”
AIG. You said that earlier today. With Don McLean’s permission the song, American Pie could be re-written. “The Day the Tingle Died.”

70 Million people voted for the tingle thingy dude. 60 Million voted for the white man. (oh. bad voters.) Look at the numbers. MSNBC, CNN and HLN. Divide 70M by those 3 networks. Each get just under, if all is equal, 24 Million viewers. There is, at this time, only one place the other 60 Million can go without being insulted – FOX. So Fox gets an occasional visit from all 60 Million.

I think the attack is nothing more than greed. It is a predictable action. It is how networks act when in a ratings war. Invite the most colorful guests to grab as many of the 70M that you can from the other two networks in your soggy bottom of society. Eventually Fox will get a competitor. Their numbers will drop a little, but the total non-kool-aide-sucking viewers will actually grow.

That is my prediction. And, I suspect that you will write the “tingle song,” and it will be a hit with 120 Million Americans.

    • Katmoon

      Eastern,

I would agree, about the greed, save for the fact this attack has been ongoing, this round is yet another chapter in it. I think the media has another greed addiction that isn’t talked about so much, they are enjoying their power of influence, it has worked in the past, and now they continue with every single thing they can push. Some will live for what they have to say, much like being a “fan”, and some will desensitize; that level of contempt can be physically and mentally exhausting.

Now Now Jackarooty. Remember- Garafalo cried when Joan Rivers made fun of her on the Red Carpet. Only in Janeane’s fu@ked up version of the world is it an unforgiveable sin to poke fun at her superficial appearance on TV, but perfectly acceptable for her to get on TV or radio in a hateful rant and call people vile names and ridicule their interior held beliefs.

      • Pennsylvania Red

I would like to see pix of the outfit that Joan critiqued.

Has Garafalo done anything of note lately- creatively speaking – other than spout off to her friends in the lefty media? WHERE’S YOUR WORK PRODUCT Janeane, janine, whoever you are…

Any DVDs, movies, music videos, do you have something that anyone in America would fork over cash to view? Does anyone even think you are remotely entertaining? (besides Joan Rivers)

Oh, I get it, that’s why you can only get face time on KO.

        Never mind.

She is on 24 these days and I cannot tell you how angered I am about this. It makes me want to boycott 24. It is my favorite show, but between her and their little save the world speeches at the end of each show now…global warming…save the world…torture is bad…blah, blah, blah, which is inappropriate to bring into a television fiction show, I’m having difficulty giving a rip anymore about 24.

          • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

my friend wants to boycott 24 also, because of this.

Write to askfox@fox.com and let them know that you are outraged ant Garofalo’s comments and that you want her OFF of 24!!!

        • Tuppence411

PA Red, can’t find a pic for you, but here’s a description AND River’s comments…. Joan Rivers, who ridiculed Garofalo on TV in 1997 for wearing a favorite pair of black pants and a brown sweater to the Emmy Awards. “Janeane Garofalo looks like a bag lady,” Rivers shrieked during her critique of the evening’s fashion. “Is this girl a pig or what?”

I meant to also mention, there is a cause for concern as well that this is acceptable as some sort of political argument between groups, I don’t see it as a disagreement. What I feel in my gut is out and out abusive behavior being encouraged, repeated over and over as an effort to make it a “truth”, rather than what it really is, Bullying by Bias.

    • I’mFedUp

Katmoon…the bullying, thuggery, assaults, abuse, threats, intimidation, etc. started way back in the Primary. Obama has made this country ABOUT all of this negativity, hate, polarization, etc. That’s who he is, and who we are now as a nation. There’s a saying…”you finish the way you start.” The whole Obama SCAMpaign was fraught with all of this crap and it will be how he leaves the White House too. Until then, we’re stuck waking up to negativity, America hate, attacks, insults, etc. because that’s the Obama way.

Will it be bricks next? How far does this behavior need to go before law-abiding people say “enough is enough”?

      • I’mFedUp

The problem is that the so called “President” supports, promotes and is a big fan of this kind of behavior. He certainly isn’t “leading by example” and this is the behavior we have to put up with until we get that jackazz out of our White House.

The mere word “racism” has been and is presently being used to truncate any discourse that has a dissenting quality.. What better way to quash any discussion about this administration’s agenda than by accusing any form of dissent as being “racially motivated”
However, they can only cry wolf for so long. In reality, it takes a lot of erg energy to galvanize enough people to get off their duffs and go demonstrate for “anything”…the number of people that attended the tea parties was a mere fraction of the people that share their views…a plethora of people were working and could not attend.
Much to the far left’s chagrin this monster, made up of hard working average Americans has awakened…and they don’t take kindly to being vilified by pejoratively being called “tea baggers” ultimately the very funny joke will be on the perpetrators of this campaign of hate! And they will deserve whatever comes their way.
As for Janine Garofalo, she is an angry little girl who has been jumping around from soap box to soap box blathering on for years…the best place for her should be a therapist’s couch

The racist crap doesn’t work anymore. The AAs got their affirmative action “President” and so it’s time to STFU about the racism. • chris from Chicago

        To quote this post:
There were 69.4 Million people that voted for Obama,
but 121,829,580 (of the 231,229,580 eligible voters) people did not,
and 60 Million of those voted for McCain.
        FYI…
Therefore ONLY 30% of all eligible voters voted for Obama.
        Of those:
*many voted strictly along party lines and not democrat political platforms
*many voted strictly along racial lines and voted for the first Black president of the USA
*many voted strictly against Republicans/Bush and not FOR Democrats
*AND SO MANY who voted were ACORN voters, so they got to vote many many times
        etc…etc…
        Draw your own conclusions!

        • http://firefox AnnieCollier

I believe 7% is the difference in his win. Thanks to all the Dim bulbs who so lusted for party power and the insane Republicans who just “didn’t like McCain” because he wasn’t conservative enough. Well, they’re reaping their reward…and I have to believe they are awake now as to the ramifications and of the damage they’ve done.

My problem is not black or white — IT’S GREEN. This is terrifying to those who wanted to pass their agenda without anyone noticing. No wonder the Left is running around like headless chickens.

      • http://wiskeytangofoxtrotoscar.blogspot.com/ James (San Jose)

Wrong again Fed, but thanks for playing. 52% of the vote is more than half. 62% approval ratings are much more than half. Approval of the Republicans in the House 32% far less than half. You’re confusing the majority of NQ readers with the majority of Voters-not the same thing, not the same thing at all.

        • I’mFedUp

James…your numbers are way off. Nice try. And how many of those morons who voted for the Fraud wish they had their vote back? I know tons of MY friends who screwed the pooch wish they hadn’t. Let’s chat in 6 months Obot.

        • C.S.

James, 52% of voters voting in the last election is a statistic that can’t be interpreted without more information. Was this 52% of all registered voters? 52% of those voters who braved the harassment of armed men (Black Panthers with clubs in front of polling booths)? 52% of those registered voters who used different names and addresses to vote more than once? And can any election be considered a fair and honest election when the selection of a candidate comes from an aborted convention process that took delegates from other candidates to give to the guy running as Barack (no middle name) Obama?

And I have yet to see any figures of third party percentages that usually show 10% refusing to vote for either party. In case you missed it, during the election, Representative Ron Paul seemed to be far more popular than any other presidential candidate. There were campaign signs everywhere and huge crowds turned out for his rallies, just like then Senator Hillary Clinton was leading the Democratic party hopefuls. Being a registered independent and not having a “horse” in the “presidential sweeps stakes” makes you look at the background of the candidates closer and when the past of one candidate closes off more and more of his life from the voting public it was obvious from the start that a group had “fixed” this race and that neither party didn’t really mind. 52% isn’t really much of a mandate, and considering all the “irregularities” that 2% means nothing without the data.

      • http://noquarter foxyladi14

    GREAT POST SARA!

I can not believe the two bozos in the top video. Just flip them to the other side, put them on FOX and have them saying garbage like that about the left and people would be raging mad!

I am not a racist. (I can’t believe I am having to say that again.)

I went to the Tea Party in Seattle and I wrote about it ( http://www.tinyurl.com/cfdw67 ) on my blog. People are angry over all of the spending (from Bush and now Obama).

Please click on the link and read about the SEattle Tea party and the people trying to cause trouble, including race-baiting from the left.

AND you have to read about the Obamabot wearing a PUMA hat. I also posted a quote from a right leaning person who discusses why they are mad now.

    I am not a racist!

    • andrew191

I’m sure you’re NOT a racist PSIG. You are however a victim of media abuse when you feel the need to twice state that you’re not a racist. Abusers often control their victims to the point where the victim feels the need to apologize for something they haven’t done. Don’t let the MSM and nitwits like Garofallo abuse or intimidate you. Don’t let them put you into a position where you have to defend yourself. It’s their words and actions that are indefensible.

LMAO mountainaires…yes, it’s refreshing, huh? That’s how I felt after Tea Party Day. It’s been so awful being American since this garbage started, and then you see all of these patriotic people so full of hope for our future.

  • mountainaires

Just watched the video of Garafalo on Keith Olbermann’s “Countdown” program…..

These people should never be allowed to sully the television screen. Garofalo has to wear long sleeves because she has so many hideous tattoos all over her arms that MSNBC was shocked the last time she visited Olbermann to spew her excrement all over the airwaves.

Garofalo is just a really ugly human being, and I don’t mean her face, although when you watch this interview, you can see how her own hatred contorts her face into a very ugly picture. No, I mean her soul. She is projecting hatred all over the place from her rotted carcass of a soul. Wow.

I detected a little surprise on Olbermann’s face while he was interviewing her at how sick this woman really is. Not that Olbermann gets my sympathy; that man is the most contemptuous creature to poison a tv screen. I hope to live to see his downfall, because such a pompous prick deserves deflation like no other.

They do not realize that with every utterance from their mouths, they push me further to the right in disgust and horror at “the left.” My God. Their arrogance and contempt for ordinary Americans is breathtaking.

    • Ani

Surely Keith O. knows the “product”
he is going to get by way of JGarafolo’s comments before having her on the air. Surely what she had to say could not have been that much of a surprise. She is functioning as his puppet — saying what he’d like to say but cannot.

Remember Marshall McLuhan’s “The Medium Is The Message”? By crafting the image you see, they are telling you what to think. Her presence there is no accident, but by having her say such unfair and horrid things, they discredit themselves even further.

      • mountainaires

        True, Ani.

I’m sure he does know what propaganda he’s marketing to viewers, through images, selection of interviewees, and his “special comments.”

On the other hand, Olbermann called President Bush a “fascist” and invoked lots of other intense rhetoric in one of those comments, so I don’t think he needs Sewer-Skank to say what he wants to say but cannot. He could have done a “special comment” on it, and called Americans “teabagging rednecks and racists” himself easily enough. And, in fact, he did just that, prior to his tatted and toxic guest.

Every single adolescent anchor at MSNBC competed to see how many times they could use the word “tea-bagging” in their programs! Did MSNBC send out a memo demanding it?

Olbermann and Garofalo are hypocrites, no different than the GOP hypocrites who allowed Bush to spend recklessly, and commit war crimes.
Garofalo is the mirror image of Ann Coulter.
It’s all about being “outrageous” and “in your face.” So, they spew the most outrageous poisonous excrement imaginable trying for the “shock effect”; gets them press, and they get to project their hate onto everyone else.

I’m sick of them all, with their faux journalism, which is nothing more than hate-mongering from both sides.

    • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Loved Red Eye’s comment that those Chinese characters tattooed on her arms mean “Skank”…hahahaha

  • Virginianwithoutapartynow

Every day I think it can’t sink lower. Then I hear comments like this and it proves me wrong. Why was Olbermann even there – he didn’t ask her a single real question. It should have been titled “A Janeane Garofalo Op-Ed.” I’m surprised his ego allowed her to talk for so long.

What has happened to the democratic party? Lee Atwater would blush at their tactics! I am stunned. I am a 35 year old woman with an MPA from the Maxwell school, a licensed attorney and have worked behind the scenes crafting budgets and policy for the second largest department in the federal government. I know the tricks and spin used to make budgets, deficits and policy look better. I’m no Bush lover, or absolver, but I see the worst of the worst happening so far in this administration. To voice my educated opinion and be called a racist with Stockholm Syndrome is difficult to take. By the way, I know a hell of lot more than Janeane Garofalo about everything; actually there have been studies done by the FBI that dispute the validity of Stockholm Syndrome as a real psychological disorder and its prevalence – not that she would have a real clue because she’s too busy spewing crap to get attention to actually do her homework. If the democrats (and I was a democrat for 17 years) keep this up they will hurt themselves and the country for an entire generation (if not longer).

  • DAB

Why now they ask? As I recall, much of the electorate were really upset with the initial bailout under Bush and the phones at the White House and on Capitol Hill rang off the hook. So now that Obama is in office, it is no longer acceptable to express how one feels about the country’s direction and it is suddenly totally partisan.

I didn’t believe I would ever say this, but I have to agree that it’s good that there is a Fox News and even a Limbaugh, although they are being so demonized that it would be helpful to have some newer voices out there. When Bill O’Reilly begins to sound moderate in comparison to the rest of the media, you know we are in deep trouble.

Regarding the smarmy overuse of the term tea baggers (wink, wink) I wonder if the FCC would do anything about what KO referred to as his “double entendres”. My guess is that they could deny knowing anything about the other Urban Dictionary meaning of the term, and all would be well.

Finally, if the left didn’t pay too much attention to the Tea demonstrations, it would have passed relatively unnoticed. By elevating the protests through intense ridicule of motives and by the use of the crudest of comparisons, they are indeed ratcheting up discord and hate. This whole development is just plain AWFUL!!

    • Lyn

I called the FCC they can’t/won’t do anything because it is cable, they only control the “free stations” so basically only 3 channels have to follow decency laws. I told the person they should update their laws, because most people pay to see any channel these days. She told me I could change the channel if something offends me. I said IF you have a small child, changing the channel after a supposedly newschannel calls people teabaggers is a little late. I also asked her how does the fact they are cable channels make it any different IF I am offended by abc, cbs, nbc I could also “just change the channel”
I could understand most pay for channels not having to follow decency laws, since some people like the playboy channel ect, but thing IF you are considerred a 24 hour news channel like cnn or msnbc you should have to follow the same rules about language as paid channels.
Didn’t some bands have to change/edit their videos for MTV? THAT is a paid channel so why is that any different than Anderson Cooper saying it’s hard to talk when you are tea bagging?

      • http://wiskeytangofoxtrotoscar.blogspot.com/ James (San Jose)

        Lyn,

News programs are protected by the first amendment, cable programs are protected by the lack of FCC regulation. Deal with it. Besides do you really want a FCC run by the Obama Administration deciding on what news you can view on cable– give it some thought.

        • I’mFedUp

        • Lyn

I want the cable news channels to have the same decency laws as the free ones yes. I usually don’t respond to you because I find you rude and a know it all, but the internet is protected by free speech so “I deal with it” and the jerks that includes. However I think if you are a news channel families shouldn’t have to worry about what their children will hear, wasn’t the the big reason everyone freaked about Janets nipple you could hardly see? I think the FCC rules are outdated, especially sinbce the majority of the people pay to see every channel.

Can we please not attack a woman on her sexuality or use sex to attack her. women are always attacked using their sexuality, sex jokes don’t hurt men the way they hurt women. This was used on even Hillary Clinton, so even though you may say you are only attacking Garafolo, but it is all women. There were so many jokes sexualising and objectifying Hillary and Sarah during the campaign that it is not right to criticise a woman you do not like this way.

By all mean hate garafolo, criticize her harshly. But just like it is not right to criticize a man of color using racist jokes, it is not right to criticize a jew using anti-semitic joke, it is not right to critize a woman using sexist jokes. I am of course not accusing anyone here of making a racist joke, but this joke made by rickrickrick and I’mFedUp is sexist. So please ridicule her in some other way, just don’t be sexist.

First we saw the politics of personal destruction aimed at one person, Sarah Palin, now it is aimed at an entire political movement. This is right out of “Animal Farm”. If this were Berlin 1939, I’d hate to have been Garafalo’s neighbor.

  • Peggy Sue

Garofalo’s sorry rant is just a weary continuation that Clinton supporters heard during the primary. If you do not support the Far Left agenda you are labeled a “racist.” And if Obama weren’t a man of color then the excuse would be something else.

The racist charge is the insult of convenience because if anyone looks closely enough at the deranged financial programs, the dangerous “can’t we all get along” foreign relations stance [ala Jimmy Carter] and this administration’s total lack of transparency, the whole illusion falls apart.

In the infamous words of Brit PM Daniel Hannan:

They know and we know and they know that we know.

And it scares the bejesus of out them!

  • Elizabeth

Garofalo comes off like a histrionic woman with a rather pronounced personality disorder who splits the world up into her friends who are totally good and her enemies, the Republicans (even black right wingers), who are infinitely evil. As a person incapable of clear reasoning, she is doomed to view life through this severely split prism and to project her inner conflicts onto the outer world bolstered by a bunch of pseudo-intellectual rationalizations.

It’s sad for anyone that will not or can never try to see the world around them as it really is, but Obama is merely a flashpoint or lightening rod for her own self-absorbtion and breathtakingly barren inner life. I wouldn’t waste an hour, much less a post, devoted to the subject.

Great post, AGI. I think many share your frustration. This is actually GREAT!! It becomes so much simpler when the MSM’s blatent bias is laid bare. I think it’s hilarious that, up against 500,000+ thinking, tax-paying, concerned patriots, the MSM brings in Janeane Garafolo to comment–HAHA–simply PATHETIC!!!!!!!

The woman in the Hannity video, speaking to the CNN reporter, hit on the Fed. This is key. I encourage everyone to do their own research into the Fed. It is a privately held company that GETS OUR MONEY!! Here’s a good start: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10489

After that look at HR 1207–it’s proposed legislation (written by Ron Paul and co sponsored by about 40 others in the House) that will require the Fed to be audited by an independent panel of experts. (Currently they only answer to Congress and guess how THAT is working out for us? Yup.) This bill will provide much needed and deserved transparency. These are our hard earned dollars and we have a right to know to whom they are going and why. Power to the people!

This is the far left/right political paradigm: both are insanely irrational and convinced everyone but themselves are fools, etc. But the fact is, the far left and far right are mirror images of themselves – identical personalities fill their ranks.

    Garafalo represents this perfectly.

I will add, I am sooo happy to NOT have cable – this kind of stuff would drive me crazy were I to be lured into watching it.

  • Palm Tree

Garofalo comes off like a histrionic woman with a rather pronounced personality disorder who splits the world up into her friends who are totally good and her enemies, the Republicans (even black right wingers), who are infinitely evil.

Elizabeth, I think this is an excellent analysis.

    • http://wiskeytangofoxtrotoscar.blogspot.com/ James (San Jose)

Palm Tree, exactly where did you get your Psychology degree? Perhaps a cracker-jacks box? Reminds me of the old Cat Killer Bill Frist who “diagnosed” Terri Schiavo via a ten minute tape provided by her parents. You’re learned opinion on Ms. Garofalo has no more validity than Mr. Frist’s opinion on Terri, as a matter of fact it has less. At least Frist was a real M.D.

      • I’mFedUp

James…are you blind, deaf and dumb? Any moron can see Janeane Garofolo’s little publicity stunt for what it is. The rantings of a mentally unstable Hollywood wannabe.

      • Palm Tree

Sounds like James is seething with rage at his profound underachievement.

      • Angel

James – was it terribly painful to go through that labotomy wide-awake or have you always had a problem exercising common sense and rational thought? Either way….tragic. Really.

  • The Real HC

This is some ugly, hateful reporting. Corporate sponsored tea parties, invented by the people who created the problem…

The MSM doesnt even report news anymore. Its ridiculous. The more of it you watch the less informed you become.

  • mountainaires

Ha! Too funny. A little OT, but Fox News gets CNN “reporter” Susan Roesgen back for her crack about the tea bag protests coming from Fox News:

Seems that Susan was rejected for a job at FOX News–twice.

    ;-)

The agenda is Americans love Obama and his plans and anyone who doesn’t is out of the mainstream. Garafalo doesn’t scare me half as much as Nepolitano the Head of Homeland Security.

  • oowawa

You know, Janeane Garofalo is REALLY cute. In fact, I have a hard time making up my mind who is cuter, Janeane or Katie. But then we have Hillary Duff . . . Okay, cute, cuter, cutest–maybe we should have another NQ contest. Of course, Janeane has all of those charming tattoos, so that will give her a “leg up,” so to speak:

    http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/tattoo/celeb-garofalo.htm

    http://www.inkedmag.com/articles/detail/126/q-a-with-janeane-garofalo/

    • oowawa

Sorry to have included Hillary Duff in that group. Lizzie McGuire really IS cute, and I have no reason to dislike her. The other two, on the other hand, hide a treacherous venom behind their cuteness.

    • wodiej

did you miss the point of this thread? Janeane is not cute, she’s a hateful bitch and who cares what she looks like anyway.

      • oowawa

It’s snark, wodiej. I didn’t miss the point of the thread. Janeane is a public figure, and her appearance is part of the message. Similarly, Katie Couric’s disarming appearance and winning smile are part of the message. We ignore the “cute mask” at our peril. Sarah Palin was not expecting to be bitten. The motivation behind Janeane’s tattoos is beyond my understanding, though I have my theories.

“Cute” is part of their gimmick. If we ignore it, we’re missing something important.

  • Fredster

Garafalo???? Is she actually doing anything that an actress/entertainer normally does? Oh I see, no. The only gig she can get is to go out in public and shoot her mouth off.

    • shadow

She’s actually on 24 this season. She’s awful. I can’t stand watching her and can’t believe she’s on the same show with Jack Bauer.

      • Paula Revere

Wow I bet Hair and Makeup, and Wardrobe, on that show have some deep crap trying to make her look decent. She has so many tats that she looks like she was jumped into some LA Girl Gang.

        • politicalidentitycrisis

She still looks like crap. I’m not sure if she gets on set in time for the hair and make-up. If she’s actually using them, they are way over paid and it’s time for layoffs on 24. 1st cut, hair, make-up and Garofalo.

          • JustMe~~

What it Paula Revere we will be paying for a full time make up artist soon.!!!

  • http://wiskeytangofoxtrotoscar.blogspot.com/ James (San Jose)

So many BS points so little time.

Tea Parties non partisan? No, not nearly, not really. They started out as a Libertarian, hence partisan, movement. Anti-tax ideology is ipso-facto a partisan movement. It lives and breaths on the right side of the political landscape. It lives and breaths on the small government, free market uber alles, private over public solutions ideology. In short the anti-tax message is partisan.

The Liberal MSM? Jesus not that old, tired, completely disproved chestnut again.? So were was the bleeding heart Liberal Media prior to the run up to the Iraq war? Oh that’s right they were cheer leading Bush up to and past that silly Mission Accomplished moment. They repeated every smear against both Ambassador Wilson and his wife Valery Plame-Wilson even when they knew that the White House was running a mud-slinging campaign against those public servants.

Compare and contrast the lead up to the anti-war protests where three million people showed up and the Fox lead up to the the tea parties where 300,000 people showed up. Did NBC or even MSNBC hold daily promotions for the anti-war protest the way Fox ginned up support for the tax protest? If they did I missed it. I do remember Fox anchors ripping into the “loony-left”, “traitorous” ,and “Anti-American” Iraq war protesters.

About some of those state and local taxes that upset you so much. Well that is what happens when you put a government into balanced-budget straight jacket. Government services get slashed and taxes go up. By the way, the services that get cut are exactly the safety-net programs that are most needed in times of economic downturn.

Oh ,and the protest were not anti-Obama? Um,how does comparing Obama to Hitler come out as anything other than being hateful? Comparing anyone to Hitler is an ad hominem attack, it is pure vitriol. The tenor of the protests were anti-Administration and specifically anti-Obama. By the way, being anti-Obama, anti-tax, anti-fed, anti-government, and anti-spending, makes you a partisan: now you know.

On the specifics of Garofalo. She was at one time an Air America hostess. Air America is proudly progressive and not part of anyone’s mainstream. You invite some one like Garofalo on your show to get a Left-wing view point. When you invite Garofalo herself you know that you may get a controversial left-wing view point. Anyone with half a brain knows K.O. and Rachel lean left, not your cup of tea? Then switch the channel to HGTV ,or Turner Classic Movies or hang out on Fox, it is your choice. Garofalo is not a news anchor, she is a pundit. She is a pundit in the same way Sean Hanity, Bill O, and Glenn Beck are. Garofalo has a long way to go before she accumulates the amount of offense that Rush has. You remember Rush, the man who mocked Michel J Fox for his disease to score cheap political points? No?

Ever since Hillary lost the nomination NQ has gone into a tail spin. Maybe the denizen of NQ always were this right-wing and detached from reality. You definitely have hunkered down into the dream land of Fox News and the talking points of the far right. You can’t even see an AstroTurffed, top-down, Republican lead, and right-wing financed operation for what it really is. You can’t even recognize the piss-poor messaging of the organization when it is brought to your attention. All someone had to do is google the term “teabagging” to find out how bad an idea it was to even go there. (And yes you did go there all by your lonesome using the very words teabag and teabagging before your opponents did.) Even after it was explained in the most indelicate terms possible you still had protesters showing up with tea-bags festooned on their hats. Dumb, really, really, really dumb. And who was the genius who decided to ship the millions of teabags to DC and not bother to get a permit? Talk about crappy messaging, first the unintended message of teabagging Washington but the obvious failure to carry out your media stunt of dumping those teabags as intended. That was epic fail people; and epic flail as well.

Back to Ms Garofalo, Garofalo’s accusation of racism was typical for her. She had every right to express it and KO had every right to broadcast it. It is called the market place of ideas kiddies and you don’t get to exclude ideas that are distasteful to you. In this regard Larry is much better than his readers as he allows all sorts of opinion to flow here– even the opinion that Larry is a clueless idiot when it comes to economic policy.

If your modus operandi is “No Quarter” then you should not be surprised when your opponents take you up on the offer. Vitriol will be met with vitriol and god knows their has been plenty of vitriol offered up by Larry and the rest of his happy pirates. At least Larry can take the odd strafing from his opponents can you American Girl?

For a person who is in the vanguard of a great patriotic movement you seem to be fairly thin skinned about criticism. Why should you give a damn about what obviously left-wing critics have to say about you? So what if they mock you with adolescent taunts or make fun of you? What of it? Or do you need the constant support of Fox News to sooth your unquiet mind? The civil rights movement of the 60′s did not need the constant fluffing of a news organization to prove them right. The woman’s movement of the 70′s got thousands of time more flack than the tea parties did but still managed to thrive. The Gay Rights movement still does not get much love in many places, they could not even get the voters of California to give them a break on Marriage. You want sympathy for your cause, its in the dictionary under “s.” You are going to have to earn your goals just like every one else. Strange that you don’t understand the notion of “no free lunch.”

            • Benjamin Franklin Berfle

Indeed. If the bots want to take us to task for being in favor of these tea parties, which are but a measure of our displeasure with the current government, a good dose of the founders’ thoughts is prescribed in good measure.

            • Paula Revere

Don’t you love it? I think we should all have one. Show the Bots that we’re patriotic AMERICANS.

  • Doc99

Meanwhile, buried under all the rhetoric is the Real Story behind the Tea Parties.

  • wodiej

Janeane obviously has issues. Let the left wing kooks keep up their craziness….they will just help pave the way for the tide to turn in 2010 and 2012.

    • Paula Revere

You are so right wodiej. The Bots could probably assure another win in 2012 if they would just be decent and Obama was even remotely interested in America. I say good for them. Keep up the America bashing and see how we vote in 10 and 12. Losers.

  • elise

But, I now question everything I heard for eight years from the Left, and no longer believe what I once thought to be the truth. I have now seen how the liberal MSM lies, how they misrepresent, and how they abuse dissenters.

Me too, Susan, and it’s been a painful transition. I can watch Beck, Hannity and O’Riely and disagree with many of the things they say, but for too many years I listened to the “others” without a healthy amount of skepticism. We want the TRUTH and to find even a glimmer, we must use our best instincts and question everything. The next four years will be filled with name-calling and vitriol. The fight is tiring and uses so much energy.

I’ve had personal experience with the “verbal assaults”. I know how it can be internalized over time and there is a choice to relinquish what you believe and even your identity or you fight for your life which requires so much more than you could believe possible. People like Olbermann and Garafalo will never change their minds or , God forbid, apologize even if they don’t really believe what they are saying and just use the forum they have given to bully. But, there is hope. They will go too far too many times and it will become so distasteful to decent people, no one will listen.

I was in Tucson for the tea party….There were as many of one party as the nexted…Great crowds..If someone could give this garofalo B—h a great scoop…Tell her to go to Sturgis during bike week and call people red necks….As ugly as she is no one will hit on her…

  • Benjamin Franklin Berfle

With respect to the tea parties, a few quotes are in order, fellow Americans:

    For the tea party participants:
God helps them that helps themselves.
We must all hang together or we will surely all hang separately.

    For the obamabots:
It is hard for an empty bag to stand upright.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools (bots) talk because they have to say something.

    For our POTUS:
He that falls in love with himself will have no rivals.

    And finally:
Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

    • Paula Revere

      And finally:
Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

There is fear in the MSM and among left wing elitists that sustained, non-partisan “smart mobs” may be forming using the very same technology-based organizational methodologies that the left feels are their exclusive province. And they are right (no pun intented). At the moment, these “smart mobs” are scattered and generally not talking to one another. It is only a matter of time before they link up and are able to organize coordinate action. Already, the MSM is seeing that people are getting their news from other sources, and I don’t just mean Fox News, either. Video that the MSM edits out is making to the World Wide Web and people are viewing it and believing their eyes over the MSM (witness the recent CNN reporter incident). The MSM fears that it will beocme largely irrelevant, and this is a reasonable fear. The left fears that if the MSM becomes irrelevant, they will be on equal footing with opposing elements in the competition for the minds and souls of America. They are beginning to realize that these opposing elements are not just limited to Republicans, but include all sorts of nominally non-partisan opponents. The are scared shitless. And they ought to be.

    • so saddened

so true, retired. but the msm have the power to make themselves relevant and trusted – all they have to do is do what they’re supposed to do, report the news fairly and objectively. (of course, we all know that won’t happen!)

      • Retired

Interesting observation. At the end of the day, the MSM is a business that must be responsive to stockholders. Will those stockholders become targeted by the non-partisan “smart mobs” in a truth campaign aimed at compelling said stockholders to action to change the biased nature of the MSM? It could happen. It may already be happening.

        • so saddened

would love to think it will happen, but have 6 decades of cynicism in me, so am not holding out hope.

This columnist must be one of the bots that bothers us here, he has the same stupid logic and ignorant of any facts and just an alround know it all ass. http://www.suntimes.com/news/steinberg/1530933,CST-NWS-stein17.article
Do tea party protesters know they turned backs on veterans?

    April 17, 2009

    BY NEIL STEINBERG Sun-Times Columnist
    Opening shot
What did you make of the big protest against the U.S. military and our veterans Wednesday?

It took place in hundreds of American cities; people were waving signs, brandishing tea bags.

Of course, they didn’t think they were speaking out against our military and our vets — they hadn’t really thought it through at all. They were under the impression they were condemning federal taxes.

But where do federal tax dollars go? By far the largest chunk — more than a quarter — supports our military and takes care of aging vets.

No, no, the protesters will say, that’s not what they mean. They just don’t like waste — who does? — and they want limited government, just as our founding fathers intended.

Did they really? I know reason is useless against righteous anger, but I can’t help myself. How accurate is it to say that the founding fathers were for “limited government”?

Well, if you mean they didn’t envision an Environmental Protection Agency or NASA, then yes, they were for limited government.

But if you look at what they actually did — create a federal government where none existed before — then they were for an enormous expansion of central control.

Their motto was not — despite the impression left this week — “No taxation.” It was “No taxation without representation.” Unless I’m very much mistaken, we had a major election just a few months ago. The people have spoken. I’m not surprised to hear that those who were unhappy the day after the election are still unhappy now.

It is a little surprising, however, to hear them denounce their own nation and seek to withdraw their support from its brave soldiers and honorable vets. That they aren’t even aware of what they’re advocating only makes it worse.

  • SiliconDoc

Jeanie never understood that there still were so many racists – then Keithy yappers the other side of that is there are not so many because so few sgowed up – ROFL.
The libtards want both sides of every argument – a huge number all racists showed up – but so few people showed up.
Last time I checked jeanie and keith ARE the white power structure of punditry, and of course the vast majority far outweighing their population percentage controls near all their comrade kindred. It’s real nice to give lip service to hating the opposition, while you sit uopn your white ivory tower sepulchres. They could even have a black person in on their bash. How pathetic is that ? I guess they couldn’t find a black person to comment, nor one in the studio. roflmao Maybe they couldn’t stand sitting with one on air, or they couldn’t find one that agreed with them, or both.
How is it that the undernetwork is so obsssessed with Fox ? They are both only cable TV and their viewership is 10% compared to the traditional big 3 abc, cbs, nbc – but they think Fox is the world, and they are the bigger world when they are smaller ?
How can anyone be so off and deranged and compartmentalized and mental surrounding the basic facts, as if those don’t exist ?
I find the bias in the media nothing short of frightening anymore, as I find out they cannot give a fair shake to the people, at all. They have a raging agenda they cannot and will not ever let go of, no matter what the truth is.
I have always thought Olbermann belonged on the comedy channel, and ironically I suppose if you are a drooling idiot, a moron, a smart aleck retard, you’d take 90% of what he says seriously, instead of with a grain of hippy joke salt, as it is – a parody of reality – even the cartoons he has flashing across the screen are evidence of the lack of seriousness.
Let’s all joke around forever about everything until it’s too late – and disaster actually hits – now even with the government taking over the private sector it’s all a joke about racism. Good golly, what cerebral giants.
I’ll get a gigantic estrogen shot and go along for the insanity ride – as soon as I gety my castro indoctrination schoolinmg hours completed.
Kookballs in comedy – heck Jeannie is a comedian, but now she’s Obly’s “serious” guest. Now there’s a joke there, somewhere.

Garafolo is as unintelligent as she is untalented and unattractive. She’s as bad a political pundit as she was a standup comedienne and actress. It’s obvious she’s the one who doesn’t know what the Boston Tea Party was all about. I think a good old ‘carbon tax’ should be slapped on her since she
puts out enough CO2 to bring up the average temp by by a few degrees.

One day when she’s finished basking in her exaggerated sense of self-importance she may look back at her life and realize that in the grand scheme of things she was nothing more than hot gas.

Had never even heard of Janeane Garofalo, before this comment was made…. of course, I’d never heard of CNN “reporter” Susan Roesgen, either, until her “interview” with one of the tax day protesters. I don’t know if they honestly don’t get it, or do, and have no rational arguement for their own positions. A shame they resorted to mindless rants. They’ve had their 15 minutes of fame and publicity, but the opposition to governmental mismanagement will continue.

I attended one of the tea parties… saw NO racist signs… heard no vitriol… there was Zero mention of CNN. The crowd was composed of ordinary people.. all ages… beleaguered taxpayers, freedom loving Americans, who know that they have been ripped off, and see government intruding into every facet of their lives….They are alarmed. These folks are not “career protesters” or blind followers of any celebrity, organization, or party. They share a passionate concern for the future of this country, and respect for the Constitution on which it stands.

The country is more polarized now than ever… the divide is not along racial lines. It is about government overstepping it’s Constitutionally defined role. It’s about the unaccountability and unresponsivenness of Congress. It is about illogical and damaging policies from Cap and Trade to the bailout. We’re not rioting…. not breaking windows… not taking up arms… we’re simply trying to unite so we can be heard. It’s maddening that most of the media chooses to mischaracterize the message and show disdain for participants. I expect the grassroots opposition to the coming onerous taxaction, staggering spending, and ultimate collapse of the USD, will continue and grow. I hope it does! We’ll be happy to go back home and get on with our lives as soon as our voices are heard and heeded.
