I never read this blog and I must say I will never return. Some of you are very short cited but I am not suprised. Sugar why not let Travis defend himself if he feels so wronged. At the end of the day Obama is president and Travis will continue doing what he does best. A win win for people in general. Some may think that Obama was supposed to abandon his campaign to appear on forum but I disagree. It’s easier to throw him under bus because some don’t think he is black enough, shame on you all. You embarrass yourselves no matter how articulate or educated you sound. I wont call anyone name except to say, wake up and smell the coffee. History was made, share in the glory of that. The republicans would welcome all the negativity expressed here with open arms, go to them. You can join them in attacking our first Black president, whatever his shade or hybridity. Do not promote the agenda of those that wish to keep you down, it is how I read many of the negativity expressed here. Sit back and read your own words or better yet show them to your minor children if you are so proud.

I think the integrity of individuals like Malcolm X and Tavis Smiley speaks for itself and will be with us forever. Unfortunately, Obama’s street-cred will last only as as long as this election cycle!

Amen kenoshaMarge! I’m fairly young and even though I grew up in a somewhat socially conservative area, I thought the worst of this crap was behind us. My mom told me how her father wouldn’t let her and her sister play sports (because of the pants/shorts) or dance (religion) and thought how silly it seemed and how very far away it was from the world I grew up in. I’d encountered plenty of everyday sexism but most of it was the kind of chauvinism you could easily shrug off as a relic of the past or just male stupidity. It wasn’t until this race that I really saw hate behind the words being spouted. I feel like I’ve been thrown into a timewarp and what’s worse the betrayers and haters are the ones that are supposed to be on our side.

Well I’m off the fence about Joyner: “He’s a stupid asshole and has always been.

There’s an email going around for years which lists Corporations who make their money off the black community but refuse to advertise on black radio, like Joyner’s show. Well I took the first name oof the list, which happened to be Starbucks and forwarded the email with a terse comment.

Was I embarrassed when Customer Relations responded setting the record straight. That’s Joyner’s way of trying to blackmail for sponsorship of his show which is racially divisive and controversial.

I won’t go into it here, but Joyner is indicative of AAs that keep stirring the pot of attitude and antagonism among black and yet enjoys a cushy lifestyle as a result. All people like him do is feed anger which doesn’t produce a healthy attitude in terms of achievement. It just enables many AAs to think that they can’t make it. But all of these people have a rude awakening coming their way. You just watch.

Yes , please don’t do that. Malcolm X was a genuine leader and was intelligent. Malcolm X educated himself after a tough childhood and a criminal lifestyle. I believe his father was lynched and his mother had mental illness.

Please don’t confuse this fraud with one of the most incredible stories of survival and transformation just because Malcolm X’s politics was radical and something you disagreed with.

At the end of his life, Malcolm was on the verge of yet another transformation which included a more accessible attitude with regard to whites.

One of the biggest stories NOT covered during all this ,and there are many, is the enormous courage of the AA Hillary supporters. These folks are facing sick shit from family even ! Over that piece of BO crap?? Jesus there are some wounds that will not heal any time soon and who does it hurt? the AA family & community. They think he’s a leg up, but he’s not. While a state sentor OB let AA families asses freeze while he was partying with their slum landlord. He thinks alot less of them than that rich white SF crowd…you know it.
