Send Charlie Gibson Some Love

Don’t know about you, but I was thoroughly impressed by Charlie Gibson’s evenhanded conduct of this debate.  No Obama ass kissing followed by snarky Hillary bashing.  The man reminded us what a professional journalist is supposed to look like.  And for that, the crazy left will criticize the shit out of him.

Use the link to send him a message.

      Here’s another place to hit.
The Obama zealots are pounding Charles Gibson, screaming bloody murder.

Fox news on line http://elections.foxnews.com/ is also reporting that Gibson is taking incoming and has a clip of the crowd booing him.

There is also a poll there showing that Barack won. So the next time an Obama troll says “quoting Fox?” like their shit don’t stink …., well, we know better!

  • bwana

You must be f-ing kidding. That was the most pitiful display of “journalism” I’ve ever seen. Maybe the folks at Fox would be pleased. But ABC News should be ashamed.

    • Salo

No this is what MSNBC and NBC and CNN and Murdoch will now do to Obama—with Clinto out of the way they will eat Obama for breakfast.
The media makes rubes out of the Democrats–again and agian and again.

    • blobert

      ABC did a superb job.
It’s good that we still have one classy news organization around.
I don’t think Obama has ever been in the hot seat.
He doesn’t take it well. Clinton takes it in stride.

      • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

They did. And it was in the previous debate on ABC that Gibson also got Obama for bragging about his silly Senate bill on lobbying — Gibson pointed out that the change was that lobbyists would have to eat standing up. Obama was so flustered. (Should look for that clip and get it up again / remind people about that incident because Obama is blowing smoke again about lobbyists.)

Gibson does his homework. It shows.

P.S. I wrote to him. Hope he gets lots of positive mail. God knows the “orange place” is going to deluge him with hate mail.

        • Salo

Obam should have been sujected to this in December.

The press are so crooked in the way they sit on these questions. They really let Iowans down by avoiding the really juicey tabloidy stuff.

I dunno if Gibson did us a favour though. I fear the race has entered the terminal phase. This debate means that it is open season on Obama and that Clinton is too late to benefit form Obama’s collapse.

          .

        • BernieO

I agree with one glaring exception. Gibson kept repeating that cutting the capital gains tax raises revenue. This is grossly misleading. One little problem – tax cuts never comes close to replacing what was lost by the cut so they DO NOT PAY FOR THEMSELVES!!!! Even Bush’s economic advisors do not claim that they do. Gregory Mankiw, an advisor to Mr. Bush said in 2005 cutting taxes boosts economic activity so that new revenue is generated BUT at best it replaces only 50% of lost revenue. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/30/AR2007113002190.html I STRONGLY URGE EVERYONE TO READ THIS AND PASS IT ON! </strong

I have two questions. First, is Charlie Gibson really this uninformed or is he just trying to protect his own capital gains? And more importantly, why did both of our candidates let this lie stand? They missed an opportunity to drive a stake through the heart of this Republican lie.

      • beebop

How poorly can one candidate be prepared, for God’s sake? If these issues were really nothing, get some answers ready that are believable, concise and not “bitter,” deliver them in a non-condescending and even handed manner and be done with them. What are they thinking? That he’s NEVER going to be asked anything unpleasant?

The comments that are on the internet are just verbal thuggery. At Huff, they are faux intellectual verbal thuggery. His campgain is awash with thugs.

    • stodghie

      oh stfu!

    • chris

awww, cry me a fucking river. Pathetic that you whine so when someone finally asks the tough questions that Obama avoided until now. You wouldn’t know Journalism if I shoved George Seldes up your ass. Glad you got your chance to enjoy such a session where Messiah didn’t get to get preferential treatment. Suck on that you lemon.

    • Andy

      bwana:

Why? Because tough, serious and important questions were asked of the candidates or because they were asked of Obama at all?

      • bwana

Come on. ‘Tough, serious questions?’ About jewelry, acquaintances, and misstatements (by both candidates)? Is that what you want this election to come down to? Rove, Fox, and the rest of the Republican smear machine are hoping for that. But Democrats shouldn’t.

  • http://www.myspace.com/rokski Paul F. Villarreal AKA “Universal” AKA “RokSki”

Thank you for posting this, Larry. I just got off the phone with ABC and will repeat a message here I have put on some other forums, because we need some prompt action:
    ——

This is an immediate alert, and I’m sure it’s been posted here but I will repeat it.

Call ABC and tell them you were happy with their professional coverage and moderating of tonight’s debate.

    The number:

    1-818-560-1000

I just got off the phone with a woman there. I explained to her why she is receiving so many negative calls (Someone posted ABC’s number over at The Great Orange Satan’s and now it’s on the rec list), that I loved the debate, etc. She had no idea about Markos’s site, but she now is going to look into this and spread the word around the Disney offices.

We must get this message to them and support them now. Please help. They are being deluged with calls from Obama people.

    Thanks. :)

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

GREAT! Thanks for sharing this. We can all do that.

      • http://www.myspace.com/rokski Paul F. Villarreal AKA “Universal” AKA “RokSki”

Absolutely, Susan! I talked with a woman there and told her all about what the Daily Obama’s plan was to bombard them with calls by having their number plastered on the site.

She was very interested and is going to do some checking, she told me. :)
        ——————————-

On a related note, I was banned from Daily Obama tonight after writing a diary praising ABC!

That (over)reaction is all you need to know about how the Obama supporters are taking having The One’s getting his elite behind kicked tonight.

        Ha ha. You go, girl!

Thank goodness for No Quarter and other similar sites. You guys are the resistance against the Evil Empire of the Obama Cult.

        :)

        • chris

Kos showed their colors long ago, but it needs to be exposed how they are engaging in these pressure tactics when they don’t get their arrogant elitist little ways. Let them attack and lets see ABC and others report on their attacks.

          • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Well their Jesus is a thug, so what do you expect from His Followers?

        • kenoshaMarge

          Universal,

Thank you for being smart enough, fast enough, and for caring enough to let ABC know how the Obamans try to stifle any dissent. I say Obamans because they sure as hell aren’t Democrats/liberals/Progressives.

Where the hell are all the cries about “free speech” and the 1st Amendment from all those who were so concerned about Randi Rhodes being allowed to open her trashy yap.

Now a few tough questions and Obamans get upset. Worried evidently that the “ONE” can’t take a punch?

Welcome to the world of Hillary Clinton. She’s taken worse than this and came back for more.

The Cheese and Whine bunch are as pathetic as their glass-jawed candidate.

          • Patrick Henry

            MARGE..

Thats Right…and its CHEAP Whine too…

    • stodghie

i tried calling but it appears to be overwhelmed. the obamabots are showing their true colors. no thanks to mob rule and attemtps to intimidate.

    • chris

Good call, its clear that the punks at Kos can’t handle reality unless that reality agrees with them. Fuck Kos, fuck Obama, and fuck his uptight stuckup elitist condescending piece of shit supporters.

      • beebop

Most of the people listening to his schtick in San Francisco lock their doors when they drive by the maniacs attacking ABC. And, I am sure there is a troll lurking here somewhere, so I am going to answer your question for you, I am not making this a racial issue. I am talking about the tongue out, hyperventilating, hate spewing, non-issue caring element that donates “$5 or more” and thinks that they can buy a presidency.

I emailed Gibson thanking him for giving Clinton fair coverage. I wouldn’t say he’s the best journalist but compared to the pricks on MSNBC, Gibson does a decent job. As I said in the previous post, my Obamabot friends are pissed at ABC. Friends I used to think were sane progressives. So I’m sure Gibson will get thousands of hate emails tonight. Send something positive.

  • newspaper reader

    AP headline for debate summary:

“Clinton emphatically says Obama can win White House”

    This is unbelievable.

    • Fredster

Yeah, but she muttered under her breath:
      …in 2016.

    • beebop

      turdblossoms….

  • Salo

Sadly, Obama will be declared the debate winner after a few days.

He’ll go on to win the nomination.

And Russert Matthews and the rest will do to obama what they did to Edwards and Clinton.

And there’s nothing us rubes will be able to do to stop the madness.

    • jyotinc

definitely, this pa debate is for hillary. who is ayer’s in obama’s life? and hamas, too? he can never, never be a president. he can have the job of rev. wright. he’s good in rhetoric but not in debate, sorry.

    • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Until the PA numbers come out. She is going to kick his ass to the next planet.

  • Montag

Hey Larry, here’s a news flash for you, John McCain thinks that YOU’RE a card-carrying member of the “crazy left.” And guess what? If Hillary gets the nomination FOX Nuisance will claim that SHE’S a member of the “crazy left” too! So don’t try pulling that tired old shtick on the Obama supporters, because if you sow the wind you’re gonna reap the whirlwind, BIG TIME.

    • http://NoQuarterUSA.net Larry Johnson

I could give a shit what McCain or anyone else thinks. I’m not trying to get a job with any administration. I call it as I see it. Deal with it.

    • Salo

      how dumb are you?

This info has never been hashed out in the open by the media.

They sat on all these accusations until today.

It’s crimainal how these stories were suppressed until Obama was the presumptive nominee.

Voting should not be a blind date.

    • Fredster

Hey Montag: Here’s a news flash for you – go pound sand up your ass. If Barry is the nominee for the fall, he will L O S E, L O S E,
      L O S E

      • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

And I will help out by not voting for him. Understand something, pleassssee. Obama’s narcissistic declaration that he will have Hillary supports fall at his feet is delusional to say the least and laughable besides. We will NOT vote for him. I would vote for Dracula before i would vote for Barack Obama. Next to him, even the Old Man looks good.

    • s. hall

Why are you Obama people always so bitter???? I guess it must be that your candidate continues to disappoint you every day.

    • beebop

You seem to think that the people supporting Hillary are happy about last night simply as an exercise in “get” Obama. Barack Obama has no business being the last man standing with the resume and the intellect and the work habits that he brings to the party. If this campaign had been held like an orchestra audition — behind a curtain where no one can see the musician — he would not have made it onto the stage with the others who started out in the early going. The “audacity” of Obama is that by offering nothing different from the campaigns of those better than he is, he got this far. It should not have taken this long to expose him for the empty suit that he is. It is a shame that no one did a better job earlier in the process. But he is obviously not the guy to unite the party. Not the guy who can soothe Michigan and Florida and win the voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The red states he has won via caucus are McCain states.

The sooner his “followers” understand a 50 state VOTING process, the faster thay will learn to assess the reality of his situation. Detox is tough.

  • WMCB

Amazing the difference in Obama’s total demeanor once he finally gets asked a question other than “Are you comfy and may I bring you another pillow?”

It was high time. Hillary can handle media pressure. He can’t – not even the paltry and respectful pressure he faced tonight.

She thinks on her feet, because she KNOWS the issues, and knows the battlefield like the back of her hand. He can’t.

If the press had been doing their job all along, it would have been obvious before now.

    • Patrick Henry

      WMCB..

Good Observation..Hillary is Fantastic..She Put every Male candidate to Shame with Her Intelligence
and thinking…She is no Phony like Obama..

  • miriam

The response from Obama supporters is amazing even if it is predicatable. They are clueless, utterly clueless as to what the Republicans will do to him before the GE. This debate did what none of the others did because they revealed character. Those who think the questions were silly have it all wrong. It showed exactly how Hillary and Obama handle a stressful situation. Hillary dug in, showed poise and humility, and Obama behaved like a sullen brat.

    • blobert

McCain is scared of all the crap that comes along with Obama. That’s why he wants to run against Hillary Clinton.

      • stodghie

the republicans aren’t afraid of obama and his group. they laught at them.

McCain is scared of all the crap that comes along with Obama. That’s why he wants to run against Hillary Clinton.

        lololol

You don’t know half the truth.

The main reason the Republicans want Hillary out is because she could bleed them of their votes. Already enough of us conservatives voting for Hillary, as McInsane is, well, INSANE!

      • s. hall

The Republicans are praying that Obama is the nominee. They will wipe the floor with him. Obama has so much baggage. Why do all his friends seem to hate the USA?

  • blueasthesky

Gibson used to be the most frequent stand-in for Ted Koppel on NightLine, and tonight he reminded me of his former boss, who was regarded by people on all sides as being tough and fair.

Some of Koppel’s replacements were better than others, but Gibson was one of the better ones.

    • Salo

Koppel was a wanker who made his career on destroying Carter.

he was a good Journalist all the same.

      • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Kopel always reminded me of Alfred E Newman though.

      • workingclass artist

Well…it wasn’t hard to destroy Carter….He was a much better president after he left office…..well….that is until recently….Now he’s senile.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

I am going to set my DVR to record his nightly news show. I tried NBC’s for a while, but it was rather devoid of hard news.

      • beebop

Yeah … record them and fast forward through them. I was stunned to be honest. The nightly newscast led with their faux poll and not one word about oversampling. Just the er, results.

  • Beelzebud

They were out to trash BOTH candidates…

Compare questions about issues of substance next to tabloid trash questions.

This was the lamest debate I’ve ever seen, and coming from the corporate press, that is saying alot.

    • stodghie

you set a new standard for just plain out of it.

    • Salo

It’s amazing to see the naivety on display.

Obama got a free ride until it was deemed too late for Clinton to strike back and win.

Up high on Mount NBC and Tir ABC they crunched the numbers and saw that Obama would start to feel the heat.

    • s. hall

An Obama supporter would hate this debate. As a Clinton supporter I loved it. Sorry if Prince BO is not used to being asked the tough questions. He couldn’t change the subject no matter how hard he tried. Rezko, Wright and Ayers kept coming up and and the more he tried to explain himself the deeper he dug his hole.

      • reid

It’s pretty sad that you think such a useless debate was great just because they were picking on the other team. I understand you hate Obama for whatever reason (as does almost everyone here), but a National Enquirer-level discourse helps no one. Yes, I just hadn’t heard enough about Rev. Wright, flag pins, and Tuzla the last few months, give me more!

        • beebop

          Harry?

Sir, it’s not too late for you and Nancy to do the right thing for this nation.

          • reid

Sorry, no, a lesser reid here. And don’t call me Nancy!

        • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Well maybe if MSNBC and CNN didn’t cover him with teflon for the past six months, it wouldn’t have had to come to this.

          • reid

I don’t understand that claim. The media harped on and on about the Rev. Wright deal, and they’ve really pushed the “bitter” issue (among others) more recently. Any Obama teflon has more to do with his appeal to rise above such nonsense than to the media fawning over him, as far as I can see. It seems like “regular folk” (non-hyperpartisans) are tired of it. Really, if anyone has gotten a free pass from the press, it’s McCain.

In any case, I still don’t see how anyone can justify applauding such gutter journalism. It’s a bit hypocritical to complain about it but then applaud it when it happens to your chosen candidate’s opponent.

      • workingclass artist

Hillary was definitely at her wonky best….She ran circles around him.

    • beebop

You are as clueless as your candidate.

I hope the person who coached him on debate preparation gets left behind in Pennsylvania to find a job with the “bitter” people. These questions are not new. Not to have come up with palatable answers that play well to the crowd is inexcusable.

  • SensibleWoman

I’ve called ABC and left a message and I’ve emailed them to thank them.

NOW I’m going BACK to their website and click on all their sponsors’ ads to show support AND I am going to try to find out who their debate sponsors were and purchase from them. I didn’t pay attention because I got on the computer during commercials.

    • http://Supergram.blogspot.com Melissa

      VERY GOOD IDEA!

I was over at talkleft. Someone (Dawn Davenport) posted that the best moment… [would be afterward, when the local live feed accidentally broadcasrt an engineer sounding panicked that she had to put together the best parts of Obama's performance.

It only lasted a moment on the live feed, but she said something like, "But, he never had any highlights!"

Did anyone else catch that? I'm crossing my fingers it'll be uploaded somewhere.]

Start the hunt, this would just be priceless. It was a live feed so the only way it’s going to be had is if someone was fortunate enough to be recording. :)

    Some good points in comments.

    INTHE DEBATE HE SAID:
“My writing wasn’t on that particular questionnaire … as I said, I have never
favored an all-out ban on handguns.”

  • http://camoderate ca moderate

Charlie did a great job – it was nice to see tough questions to all. Finally you can really see an apples to apples comparison on how they deal with issues and what they really know about the details. On another note, can anyone explain why Obama always positions himself so he is looking down his nose (a la the snob poster) at us? Does he think the right side of his face is somehow better? Speaking of his face he looks particularly pissed off tonight – Uppity must not have given him his arugula tonight. Guess he is a little bitter – maybe he finally feels our pain.

    • alibe

You mean “the Dictator Pose”? Nose in air, camera angle from below, arrogance written all over it.

    • kenoshaMarge

I didn’t, I couldn’t watch. I have reached the point with Obama that I reached with Bush. I have to read transcripts of what they say because the sight of their smarmy faces and the sound of their arrogant voices makes me nauseous.

Note: I am not saying, nor would I ever say that Obama is as bad as Bush. IMHO, no one is as bad as Bush. I just have the same reaction to some when I see them on television. Schwarzenegger is another. And that toothy little twit that’s always on with Howie Kurtz, Mary Elizabeth Hamm or something like that. Nauseating the whole bunch of them.

  • Amy

john b is correct….the comment on the questionnaire is a total lie on Obama’s part. someone should find the people involved in that group and show the questionnaire on tv. own up to who you associate with and what you do, Obama.

    • bert

Not only that, but twice (campaign said negatitve things about Bosnia, not me & campaign aide wrote gun contril statement, not me)he refused to take responsibility for running his own campaign. That is Bush like – didn’t have good facts from CIA,not my fault; rogue officers responsible for torture, not me, etc.

How can he expect me to believe he can run the country and he can’t even manage his own campaign. He is the candidate. He should tell his people what he expects and nothing should go out with his name on it if he doesn’t agree with it. Once it does go out – it is his period. Don’t blame someone else.

Just finished watching here in CA and everything I read here about the debate was right. Hillary was just great. How anyone could think after that performance that Obama is Presidential material is living in denial. He was pathetic.

Hillary had the clear lead on command of the facts and issues and she looked and sounded relaxed, and she was funny and gracious. Yet she was still able to hit hard at Obama.

      Masterful performance!!!!!

  • http://www.myspace.com/rokski Paul F. Villarreal AKA “Universal” AKA “RokSki”

Here is a copy of a letter to the editor I sent to the following newspapers:

    - Philadelphia Inquirer
    - Philadelphia Daily News
    - Scranton Tribune
    - Pittsburgh Post Gazette
    - Allentown Morning Call
    - Erie Times News

ABC’s Philadelphia Debate Reaction: Fantastic work by ABC

ABC embarrassed CNN & MSNBC tonight, and made Saturday Night Live look dead-on with its parodies of those two networks’ debates.

Tonight, Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolus showed Campbell Brown, Anderson Cooper, Tim Russert and Brian Williams how a professional moderator conducts him- or herself.

No fawning. No stilted questioning. Clinton was asked about Bosnia. Obama was asked about BitterGate. Clinton was asked about her position on guns during her NY Senate fun. Obama was asked about Jeremiah Wright. Clinton was asked about saying Obama would be crushed. Obama was asked about wearing a flag pin.

I give you AND your opponent real questions. This is how it’s supposed to be done.

Many have been waiting for this moment and had given up hope that it would occur. All we wanted was a level playing field, and tonight we finally had it.

The result: Obama was reduced to trite ‘change/hope’-type lines and Clinton shone brightly. Obama even tried repeatedly chiding the moderators because it works so well with other media. But George and Charles were determined to be professionals, and professionals they were.

For now, just a heartfelt thanks to ABC for a magnificent job done.

    Paul F. Villarreal

The “Obama can win” sound bites will be gone by next week.

Why was BO pushing the “frustrated” meme tonight?

    I did not get that.

On the DC gun ban he missed the oppertunity to show what a “Constitutional Law” lecturer might say, sadly he is not that fast on his feet to see a softball when it is underhanded his way.

Obama say’s “He won his bet” on the American people.
Anyone fell like a poker chip at one of his “friendly games?

  • TeakWoodKite

I dropped Mr. Gibson for well run debate.

Also asked him why he did not bring up the testimony in the Rezko trial regarding Mr. Auchi and Obama “toasting” him.

  • tam

The debate was great, and Charlie did an awesome job. I sent him a message and called in and left a message. Gotta give them some love before they are intimidated into not being fair.

  • Catriley

Thanks for the contact info for Charlie. I emailed the general ABC contact form already, but I’ll go ahead and thank him personally. I just really appreciated that they kept this debate more professional, and asked good questions.

I always wonder when I see the Obamacrats flipping out over stuff like this… we’re not like that, right? I can never really remember a time with Hillary supporters have ever been ugly and destructive like that. It would seem, if I were running a news organization, that if one candidate’s supporters were complete assholes, I’d want to do what I could to take the candidate down a notch. But that’s just me… ;)

  • cdo

beside writing charlie (thanks for that link larry!)
i also wrote abc and…MSNBC. I asked what debate they could have been watching cause it sure couldn’t have been the same one everyone else in the country saw. I asked how could it be possible for them to be so far removed from the average viewer. How can they possibly deny Clinton won the debate when she gave by far the most direct, informed, and thoughtful answers.

  • Strawberrybitch

YIKES!!!! I was unable to watch the debates but from the way the pro Obama sites are bitching and moaning about how UNFAIR abc’s questions were towards Obama and how ‘desperate’ Hillary was and how she should just quit…blah, blah, blah…I’m guessing Obama shot his wad and lost. Ehew…I just grossed myself out.

I guess somebody had to do something to try to drag this campaign out and it just happens to be Charlie Gibson. He was just plain awful by any standard.

However, I will say, Obama was not up to it tonight and Hillary was spot on prepared.

Let’s see if it makes a difference.

    Tuesday will tell the tale.

obama’s never up to it. hillary’s always prepared. the only change tonight is that obama wasn’t given the messiah treatment, for a change.

    • s. hall

Drag the campaign out??? The primaries are not over yet and millions of people have not voted. I guess Obama’s people believe that you have to end the race early before people can figure out what a loser Obama is. How about Obama agreeing to count Florida and Michigan’s votes? I guess he feels its better to disenfranchise a couple of million voters in states Dems need to win.

      • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Damned Democracy! It soooooooo gets in the way!

        • Radagast

I’m glad that you guys had a happy moment before the end. It’s been a long campaign for you.

  • Mr X

Hillary moved like water. It was a sight to behold.

BITTER OBAMABOTS WHINING ABOUT THEIR POOR OBAMA BEING SCHOOLED. GET OVER IT. OBAMA WAS SPANKED!

    • workingclass artist

LOL..Spanked in public and not on pay per view…..I love America.

  • jd

Hye the bots are out to destroy its enemies so their leader must have sucked hard tonite.

Man, I am seeing Bush Jr tonite on tv again….scary sight.

  • Dora Ratquila

How can we entrust the safety of the nation to an individual who is more than pally with the likes of Wright, Ayers, Razko et. al.? The Obamabots can spin it all they want, but the rest of America (specially its small towns, whose residents are better judges of character than the snobs) will make their voice heard. And it’s not going to be pleasing to Ted, John, Bill, Nancy and the rest of them Obamabots!

    • s. hall

Dora — Absolutely, the lives of the fat cats will not alter one bit when Obama bites the dust. This election is for those of us who work hard everyday and do what we can to make ends meet in the worst economic disaster in my lifetime.

We need a smart person who understands the issues to become president in these critical times. That would be Hillary Clinton.

  • Bees

The Obamabots have reacted to the fair but tough debate questions with disturbingly rabid ferocity. I have never seen such a strange mob mentality as with the supporters of Obama. I think these people need to take a step back and evaluate their unusual behavior. Their actions are like those of brainwashed cult members who believe their leader is under attack. The psychology of it is fascinating.

Keith Olbermann’s odd devotion to Obama (and irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton), is particularly disturbing if only because he is letting it all hang out on national television. Someone needs to do a story on these people. It’s weird!

    • DisenfranchisedVoter

I agree with you, Bees. This cult like following has bothered me since last year. You should check out this blog called Obama Messiah, http://obamamessiah.blogspot.com and the insane quotes from real people on that site. It’s ridiculous. I’ve said this before: I like Hillary but I don’t worship her and I certainly would not compare her or any politician I’ve voted for in the past to “God”, “the chosen one”, or do whatever a politician tells me to do. This is very scary and reminiscent of things that have happened in human history where dictators who were worshipped have convinced people to do some really unthinkable and horrific acts. It scares me that Obama has that kind of power of people.

A part of me believes that the only way to end this is for Obama to lose to McCain. I think Clinton will take a lot of blame regardless of whether she wins the nomination or Obama loses the general so I’m hoping Clinton can win the nomination and the general election. That’s the only way she can avoid getting blamed by the media and the Obamanbots for Obama losing the general election or ruining the party if she happens to lose the general election.

      • Kathy

Oh my gosh. I just went to that website. What happened to Montana. There must be some mind control stuff going on. This is bazaar. Unless Obama is an alien. What do you suppose is going on?

      • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

They remind me of the Bush people. They would boycott anything he told them to. Zombies.

    • s. hall

Its really odd about Obermann. I watched him just days before he turned into a rabid Hillary hater. He had her on his program and was so courteous toward her. He even said that he was angry at being told to call the Democratic Party the Democrat Party. He promised that he would continue to call the party by its rightful name.

However, the next day Obermann began use the term Democrat Party and his hate fest against Hillary had been launched. Perhaps someone will write the story of Oberman’s quicksotic descent into Hillary madness or why he blew his entire career trying to destroy this woman for whom he had no antipathy.

      • alibe

That is curious. I am at a loss to understand Keith’s journey to the dark side all of a sudden. It is a mystery to me to figure out how and why he flipped so suddenly and so completely into an Obamaloon.

        • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

His report last night indicated a man whose wind had been knocked out of him. It was truly pathetic.

        • workingclass artist

          Ehemmmmm………$$$$$$..or Press secretary….Me thinks

    • ritamary

Bees, your concise description of the Obamabots is much appreciated. “Rabid ferocity” “like brainwashed cult members” says it all. They seem to live in some kind of parallel universe. Someone really does need to do a story on them.

      • reid

Good lord, please look in the mirror! The cult of Hillary on this site is no different than what you’re complaining about! Do you not see it? How can anyone think last night’s debate was good? Over half of it was gotcha journalism and rehashing of tired, irrelevant points. To both candidates! I try to be objective and fair-minded, and that kind of thing is what is wrong with politics today. I think a lot of (hopefully most) people would agree with me.

        • Kathy

Maybe Obama is the anti-Christ. Whoooooo.

          • reid

            Okay….

        • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

I do not worship Hillary. I respect and admire her. I am not a Hillary “Fan”. I am a Hillary Ally. I do not chant for Hillary. I do not go to Obama websites and call them the mail equivlent of C*nt, such as they did to me. This is the place we all came after being driven away by messages that, if I posted them here, would and should make you ashamed. This is our place. Like it or get out.

          • reid

I will grant you that at least no one is deleting my posts here. I’ve heard of that happening on other sites.

I’m sorry your were called names on other sites. That’s childish and silly. I hope you can see that the majority of Obama supporters probably don’t act that way. Similarly, I’m sure you can find sites and people that are Hillary supporters and would do something similar. They should be ignored if they’re that far gone.

What bothers me about this site is that not too long ago it was a great resource for information about current events related to national security issues. I used to check in regularly. Unfortunately, Larry let it become a pro-Hillary/anti-Obama site for whatever reason. It’s his site and his choice, but I’m sure he’s lost the respect of a lot of people for doing so.

        • workingclass artist

There is no cult of Hillary…( sigh ) Just pissed off adults who don’t buy OBAMESSIAH’S shit…Put down th pipe.

          • reid

Right. Let’s review the last 50 or so posts on this blog and try that again. Hm, they all put down Obama or promote Hillary…. How is that different from an “OBAMESSIAH” site? You’re in denial.

    • Dawnelle

      WEIRD! Exactly!

Keith especially has turned into the biggest hypocrite on the news.

I had no idea his mind was so RIPE to be mesmerized. I guess I should have as some of his later RANTS had indeed gone a bit over the top!

He looks sometimes like he will have a seizure. WAY weird!

  • maysfreedom

Hillary was head and shoulders above Obama with her grasp of policy details and laser-sharp responses as well as big picture content, details and substance. Obama’s responses were all over the place, vague, circuitous and tangential.
I can’t see Obama being president. He’s not It. He’s not presidential material.

  • karen for Clinton

I posted this at Talk Left and Taylor’s site just now, my morning after rant:

I went to sleep soon after the debate ended confident that a few of the troubling things about Obama had been finally discussed in front of millions of viewers and that his pandering and side-stepping had been pierced.
I turned on the computer this morning to find all the news agencies had headlines with the only news they deemed worthy from the debate:

    Clinton thinks Obama can Win!

Swept under the rug after being aired:

Exelon, Farrakhan, Rezko, Auchi, family and other racial Muslim ties, Wright, Hamas, Ayers, Blago, and a host of corrupt allies from the cesspool from whence he sprang. Mi and Fl, flipflopping on the environment, guns nafta etc. depending on whom he was speaking to at the time and his lack of a strong stance as well as his backpeddling on dozens of issues and his total unpreparedness to lead anyone but the sheep, the handing of legislations to him to bolster his shabby record, his prior senate races and the dirty politics associated with them all, his lack of any actual unity history summed up so potently by his wife in her “finally proud” moment… and all those other things for the core democrats to balk at let alone the republican spin.

Thanks to Charlie and George for numerous attempts to shine some light on my concerns and hold his feet temporarily to the fire.

While it might be too little too late, it was at least a momentary comfort to know somebody out there is paying attention to his many devils in the many details.

One of the “Got ya” moments was certainly O saying he disowned Wright and his being called on it by George politely but swiftly. Also it came through to me loud and clear when Hillary said she had specific plans FIRST although she didn’t out him for copying her campaign programs strongly enough.

Overall it was certainly better handled and hopefully put some spirit of researching those issues into the media and the public minds.

It left questions unanswered and merely led the way to further discussion without resolving any of the charges. On further investigation it is clear he is not who he claims to be and his Oil ad and his other ads are devious lies…

The debate sent the message “caveat emptor” and the tide is hopefully turning before we are all washed out by the flood of O!

  • Mitchman

No questions on the environment, none on terror, none on interrogation, none on torture, none on education, none on spending, none on healthcare, none on Iran… WTF!

But we talked about lapel flag pins and who wears them…??!?

That was without a doubt awful debate. I do agree Hillary won the debate for sure – but it was just gutter/petty politics.

Luckily most folks were watching American Idol. :)

  • fiscalliberal

The key thing is to watch the PA and IN papers.

The super delegates have to be concerned about Obama not being able to articulate well when off message. He dominates the time with babble.

This is going to be a significant year for the Democratic Party – not counting MI and FL and seriously considering Hype (Obama) over substance (Hillary).

A lot of people are going to be watching. The incompetence is approaching the Bush II administration. Not counting MI and FL in a democracy??? A lot of people are not going to accept that. At least McCain will count our votes

  • Talktruth

It’s a little gushy (conditioning him to do the right thing), but here’s what I wrote:

“You *rocked* last night, Charlie! What an even-handed debate. You asked the hard questions. And now, even if the extremely unqualified, and possibly dangerous, Barack Obama becomes the nominee (God forbid), you will have made sure it’s not because of you or ABC News. You asked the questions that needed to be asked. Please hammer him on why he doesn’t want FL & MI counted next. Thanks!”

And a very good morning, all!

  • yttik

That was beautiful! It’s been so long since I’ve seen anything fair and balenced. And when the playing field was level, Hillary totally cleaned his clock. Obama is so not qualified for this job.

Please send ABC some love because I’m sure they’re getting heaps of abuse.

  • http://Supergram.blogspot.com Melissa

I called ABC and am hand writing thank you’s to them in a few minutes.
The trick now is to give ABC so much love that they continue to expose the fraud. Remember, lots of folks know nothing about Obama (including his supporters, hence the fits over the debate- their messiah is being exposed) We need to keep this inof front and center and keep ABC going in the right direction.
Lots of love to ABC, Gibson and George!

  • http://Supergram.blogspot.com Melissa

And while we are at it- George Stephanopoulus is getting trashed too! Give George some love

Might take a few tries to get in the site is experiencing heavier than normal traffic!

    • Catriley

I’m trying to find an email addy for George S., I think that would be more efficient. Anyone know how to do that? (I’m afraid to wade into the icky comments on the link you sent)

  • secularhumanizinevoluter

MAN has it been fun, fun, FUN this morning listening to all the wailing and nashing of teeth out thar in the obamashere! You have to be REAL careful walking or driving in Pa. today. It’s REAL slippery because of all the brains(who’d a thought they HAD any!) from the obamazoids heads exploding covering the roadways and sidewalks of Phila. and Swarthmore.

Dude, it’s just AWESOME when the refs blow a call for your team! Finally! I love this game!! Their fans suck!

    Larry, Larry, Larry,

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Didn’t you learn that in grade school?

Come on, don’t sink to the level of the Obama cult.

I’m a huge supporter of Hillary Clinton, simply don’t get the Obama appeal or resume, and have been increasingly angered by his campaign.

Like you, I have been increasingly outraged by the MSM overtly biased toward Obama and behaving toward Clinton like tabloid journalists. And I’ve been outraged by Democrats gleefully egging them on, regardless of the damage to our party.

So now the monster that Obama supporters helped create is starting to turn on them. I take no pleasure in it. (Well, OK, maybe just a tiny, little guilty pleasure).

But the decline and fall of the MSM is too serious for us to gloat. Clinton’s supporters have been appropriately challenging the media on its tabloid journalism, and this is no time to get all Obama-style hypocritical and praise them for that disgusting display last night. Stop it.

    • reid

Thanks for being a voice of reason. (I try to be your analog on the Obama side.)

    • rwc

What precisely was disgusting and hypocritical about the debate yesterday?

Please tell us and show Larry the error of his ways.

      • http://na Bo Gardiner

Many may be more entertained to hear about lapel pins and anecdote embellishment than body counts, global warming and torture. But this was ostensibly hosted by ABC’s news, not entertainment, division.

In my opinion, it’s been this kind of crap, fomented by an unhealthy blogosphere-corporate-presscorps circlejerk centered on the richest market demographic, with its voracious, bottomless appetite for news snippets that require little press research or real thought, that has been the primary obstacle to the president this country so desperately needs: Hillary Clinton. It’s the planet-eating machine from Star Trek that could consume us all.

As for the hypocrisy… that was a reference to a) Obama’s “I’m above it all” rhetoric while he daily authorizes press memos assassinating Clinton’s character and her husband’s accomplishments, b) his supporters echoing this, harming the entire party in the GE, yet crying foul at Clinton’s far milder critiques, and c) the press refusal to report on these contradictions. (Although today on Fresh Air Dave Davies called Obama on this very thing).

    • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Well maybe if the press had done its job and vetted his dubious bullcrap, it wouldn’t have had to come to that debate.

  • Linda Villella

The LOSER of last night debate was Charles Gibson. Sad, unprofessional and lack of integrity will not be forgotten by this viewer. I thought better of the man.

    • beebop

I for one am certain that your observant, well thought out and articulate discussion of his job as a moderator will devsatate him. Keep him up for days. Send him into therapy.

    • Catriley

“lack of integrity”? For what? For allowing the hard questions?

Are we to believe that the best way to select a nominee to go against McCain is by lobbing fluffy bunnty slippers at the man, while apologizing for asking too forcefully what type of undies he wears? (yes, that was a HEADLINE on Yahoo recently — which type of underwear Obama wears)

I’m thinking that many of Obama’s supporters have never actually been through an General Election before. I can’t understand why else they would be totally obvlivous to the fact that if the Dem candidates aren’t vetted NOW by the media, then they’ll be toast in the GE.

  • Chris Nichols

Fantastic job ABC!! Finally, someone works up the nerve to interrogate Obama. I still think someone should ask him to comment on Larry Sinclair’s allegations.

  • bubbleboy

You think tabloidy non-issue questions are the “hard” ones? Why exactly?

The nomination process should not be an easy one. It’s hazing, and all the candidates need to take their lumps at some point. But you know, there are bigger issues pressing this country right now, and cheering on this kind of gutter politics, simply because the guy you hate came out the loser, is incredibly short-sighted.

We have spent the past week parsing out one single sentence. Yet during this same time, it came to light that our president and the upper eschelons of his administration authorized the abuses of Abu Ghraib. Got that? Our president authorized war crimes, and then lied to us about it over and over and over again. That doesn’t bother you at all? Don’t you think that’s worthy discussion for a presidential debate?

So yeah, lapel pins, “bitter”, who hates America more? Those are the issues we need more information on, since, like, we just don’t get enough of that in the media everyday.

Don’t fool yourselves into thinking this is a good thing just because Obama came out the loser last night. The slack-jawed idiocy of our media is an on-going problem this country will continue to face regardless of who is the nominee.

The line between “news” and “entertainment” has been so thoroughly blurred it’s all but impossible to distinguish them anymore. This is bad for everyone — the candidates, the voters, our nation as a whole suffer because of this. Our democracy is going down the shitter and the media is too busy looking for “gotcha” moments to care. That’s nothing to cheer, people.

the debate questions were fine, it’s our last chance to see how Obama can handle himself without a fawning press, and if he’s the nom he shows he needs the practice, so I thank them for helping him get needed training. Stephen Colbert was far crueler to him last night. he threw obama a line and the poor fellow used it to act superior to Hillary because she’d ‘fixed’ things for him. Colbert is brilliant, he lets people show themselves, Hillary as a good sport able to laugh at herself, Edwards as a guy who won’t endorse but wants the one with the best health care plan and he can laugh at himself, and Barack as a fathead who has to preen at Hillary’s expense. He didn’t get the joke, that she’s running on fixing Washington, so Barack needing Hillary to fix things first indicates this really is her turn to be president, we all need her to fix things. I think Colbert probably wanted him to show us something different, but he showed what he has. Now, we’ve seen it, if we vote for us, it’s not his fault.
