Breaking: New Ad, “What It Takes”

NEW AD: Clinton Campaign Unveils New Ad Asking Voters, “Who Do You Think Has What it Takes?”

The Clinton campaign today unveiled a new TV ad detailing how tough the job of President is, and asking voters who they think is ready to step in and handle it. The ad, “Kitchen,” is 30 seconds long and will start airing statewide today.

The script is short, but it’s perfect — the images are so powerful:

It’s the toughest job in the world.

You need to be ready for anything – especially now, with two wars, oil prices skyrocketing and an economy in crisis.

Harry Truman said it best – if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Who do you think has what it takes?

I’m Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.

WE KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

AND JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

See Larry Johnson’s post, “We’ve Been Hacked Again” — which explains that hideous ad. We are working to get it taken down. We NEVER authorized it.

(Actually, I think the ad company’s site got hacked. Waiting to hear back from them.)

So once again, Hillary airs an ad which suggests that she’d make a better President than Obama? More McCarthyite tactics! How COULD she! This is destroying the party! Doesn’t she know she has no chance to win? Barack is drawing Independents and Republicans in key states like Wyoming and Idaho! I’d like to remind her that black folks saved her husband’s ass in the 90s, she OWES us!

    -Sincerely, Donna Brazile

  • blobert

I love it! But Talking Points Memo said it was pulled.

  • JoeySky

    She’s tough!

  • blobert

    um, there’s a reason he’s drawing republicans.
Who will then vote McCain in the GE.

  • Untilthelastdogdies

    It works for me!

Now we need to add all those undecided folks to that 11 point internal poll being

You’re doing something right, people. The Obamanauts are resorting to crude stunts against NoQuarter.

Hillary can take the heat, and so can we.

  • scott

I didn’t see it either until I went to your site and came back. UPPPITY its you and Hillary, its all your fault.

  • Uppity Woman

Get out of the kitchen. Perfect. Just perfect.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

I didn’t see it either but thankfully our readers sent me e-mails.

Then I erased my browser’s cache and was able to see it, and was sorry I’d done that. Ha. Lordy — still haven’t heard back from the ad company. Come on, people. Be responsive.

  • Uppity Woman

    How did I look????

Typical sophomores just like I said.

    ….shrug.

I look at it this way. If the hackers and trolls are spending time with childish pranks, that’s time they are not spending canvassing or making calls to support their candidate. Hack and troll away, kids!

  • Kefa

OT……Clinton internal polls have her up by 11 points of course Clinton camps says no polls exist. My guess….she wins by 10 points.

  • http://garymcgo.blogspot.com/ Gary McGowan

    Re Hillary’s ad:
FDR, JFK – I hope Senator Clinton and her people are seeing what I’m seeing. This is a poke in the eye of the slime mold that are using Obama to try to push Hillary out.. the same who are pushing the “public-private partnership” scam (we will buy up the people’s infrastructure on the cheap and then charge you to use it.) They are afraid of the Clintons and will stop at nothing. If there is a post somewhere reflecting on what Bill and Hillary have learned (like lessons learned) in the past 7-10 years or so, I’d sure like to read it. I bet they’ve learned a lot.

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Mary Jo Kopechne

Hillary has the strength to lead. Obama is a puppet.

A friend just wrote me an email saying that she just heard the organizers of Recreate 68 on Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now, and how wonderful their planned demonstrations sound for the Democratic Convention here in Denver.

I responded by sending her their link for how to make shields and their description of how effective the riots of 68 in Chicago were.

Both she and I were hippies back then, against the war and for civil rights. But we were horrified by the riots and the violence.

I find it very interesting how the memory of that time has been so distorted and romanticized.

Obama is sponsored by the machine but he’s hoodwinked his disciples into thinking he’s innovative.

I recommend this new entry by Anglachel. Excellent historical context.

Please if you can, go over to http://www.hillaryclinton.com
and donate what you can to the campaign. Obama outspends her every time, but it didn’t stop her from eating his lunch in ohio. He is well financed and we all have seen that it’s not from the Little People either.

    Give what you can.

    Susan,

I think you and Larry are the epitome of CLASS and POISE.

    However, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

I may not personally be that computer literate, but someone technical can find out what time that ad was placed. They can also trace back who logged on around the time the ad was placed.

Since the leader of this RABID pack is a W.O.R.M., I see no reason that Larry could not find some big, juicy, complicated Russian Worms, and send them on to the perpetrators. Oh, and since those Russian Worms will sorta have an approved VISA, no reason they can’t do some sight Seeing at the Big Orange Circle Jerk!

Guess there’s some value in volunteer hacker staff supported on parent’s middle class pay checks, huh?..not hard to picture this Presidency of Change – with all over 30 locked up behind a fence to get as bitter as he says we are. The ad company removed the ad. Whew. I’m still wondering how in the heck it got up there in the first place. I truly hope that company doesn’t accept ads from porn sites. If so, we need to hook up with another company pronto.

  • http://thehorizontalworld.blogspot.com/ Mary Jo Kopechne

I just donated again today. I wish I had more money but I hope the little bits will help show support and add up with the others to be useful for her.

Also, make calls! I called yesterday and while on the one hand, I really hate doing it, it is satisfying because you know you’re talking to real people who are going to vote.

  • John

she’ll win by ten points and MSNBC etc will spend the night wondering why she won’t quit, calling her victory speech mean-spirited crap, and swooning over Obama’s gracious concession.

  • Newport News Dem

Who is best equipped to lead this country and the world in difficult times? What an asinine criteria to pick a president. Experience and gravitas is not hip and cool.

Barry Obama can fill an auditorium with kids with the best of the pop artist, that is good enough for me.

    Gesh, get on script!

  • alibe

that’s right. You are having an impact. I wonder how much of Barack’s money was spent on infiltrating leftist sites to intimidate, harass, and corrupt the true left. I have to believe that several sites and TV hosts were put in place several years before the campaign. to bash the right and then to extoll the virtues of Obama..if there are any? I can not believe reasonalbly intelligent Democrats can fall for all the tripe. Of course the operative phrase is “reasonably intelligent”. I still believe Obama is the right wing Manchurean candidate. One anti war speech, and Obama is the anti war candidate. Has anyone even seen or heard that mythical speech? Not taped?
Just knowing Obama’s advisors are Zbig and his Dr. Strangelove thinking ideas, Ghoulsby, Liebman, and Axelrove… all utter creeps. I have since found out Mark Penn, Hillary’s former “Axelrove” had connections to Zbig Brzezinski. He was a traitor to her. And now Obama is so creepy as to scare me to death. McCain is also connected to Zbig via Brzezimski’s son, so Zbig owns 2 horses in this race. Only Hillary is free from the nutsos. I would rather have McCain because when things collapse, better to have a McCain to deal with having a Democrat Congress. How is a Democrat Congress going to be able to stand up to Obama? The powers that be think big time shit is coming down, and they want a charismatic left leader who will keep us in line to do their bidding. And then they can install another jerk to give us more hope and change. Remember, Zbig owned J. Carter and remember how his administartion was screwed up big time by him. Shah deposed, Afghanistan mess, he over saw the hostage rescue, after Zbig allowed the Shah to enter the US, guaranteeing a big problem in Iran. His connections are legend….Pol Pot and nasty stuff in Africa. He hates Russia and always is trying to set up something to be able to attack Russia.

  • AF catfish

This is the most positive “negative ad” ad that I’ve ever seen.

It’s fantastic. Shit, I can afford another $10. (I donate on a “catch them doing something right” basis.)

  • Jeff

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0408/9735.html

According to the Secretary of State’s office, since January about 217,000 new voters have registered for the April 22 primary, the vast majority of whom signed up as Democrats.

That statewide Democratic surge has been accompanied by a flood of party-switching. More than 178,000 voters have changed their party status since January — and the Democrats have captured 92 percent of those voters.

A poll of those switchers and new registrants released by Madonna last week found that Obama was the preferred candidate for 62 percent of them. Clinton insiders said they are also bracing for the same 60-40 split among newly registered Democrats.

  • beebop

Okay. Kennedy, Casey concede that Barry will lose. But insist he will be the nominee. I don’t see how they can figure that a guy who couldn’t seal the deal after spending an OBSCENE amount of money in Pennsylvania, who lost in Ohio with virtually the same tactics, and who seemingly is so scared to lose in Michigan that he’s blocking revotes can possibly beat McCain … not to mention Florida. We keep coming back to denial …

  • deke

Thats nice but there are 4 million voters in the state of which 54% are women. The candidate who gets out the 54% of women voters will win big. Women traditionally vote at a much smaller percentage than men and a candidate who can get out women in numbers representative to the population will win big time.

  • Jeff

“I don’t see how they can figure that a guy who couldn’t seal the deal after spending an OBSCENE amount of money in Pennsylvania”

Easy. He was down by 20 points just a few weeks ago. Now he’s closed to within 3-7. Just give it time…

  • Jeff

“Women traditionally vote at a much smaller percentage than men”

I’m curious to see the demographic stats on the regular percentage of female participation in Pennsylvania primaries.

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

SWEET: Hillary’s ad is hot news. Fox News has run it at least three times as part of its news discussion on Pennsylvania.

Haven’t been able to channel surf, but hope that CNN et al. are doing the same.

That’s one of the reasons this ad is so good: It demands that news programs discuss it, and that’s worth its weight in gold in FREE advertising. WTG, Team Hillary.

  • deke

Thats the whole point he is not giving a good return for the investment. And as far as closing to 3 to 7 points thats misleading. Obama at best has been tracking in the mid 40s and has not had a lot of movement in several weeks.

Given positive press, an enormous lead in fund raising, and a compliant DNC he cannot close the deal. You should have big concerns for his candidacy in the general election when his advantages will not be so great.

  • Jeff

“Given positive press, an enormous lead in fund raising, and a compliant DNC he cannot close the deal.”

He already closed the deal in February. Your candidate simply won’t leave the spotlight.

“You should have big concerns for his candidacy in the general election when his advantages will not be so great.”

You know whose candidacy I would have far greater concern for? The one who didn’t bother to plan or fundraise for any contests after February 5. Really good strategy there. The GOP wouldn’t know what to do with them, would they?!

  • http://OTliesvideo Lyn

I have a question about ads, like for example th bo ones every where I go, IF you click on them do they have to pay the host site per click or how does that work?

  • beebop

Funny thing though … that Gallup poll yesterday showed that she is gaining on him nationally.

How many of those who voted when it was an ill defined “hope and change” hope that the superdelegates will change what has already happened?

No response I see for Michigan and Florida. It is going to take the Democratic party FOREVER to get those voters back. If ever.

  • beebop

We’ll see tomorrow. “Dems for a Day” should not be evident until November. And. That is the show. She has not built her following on smoke and mirrors. She knows what states she will not get … Montana … Dakotas … Utah as they are going to go red. There are just now two ways around that.

I know you had to be joking, but this is such bull crap. Donna Brazilla is an idot, who was in the right place at the right time (running Jesse campaign in 88). That’s why she’s in the position she’s in today, because she took advantage of what she thought was owed to her. Black folks were jumping ship like everyone else when Bill showed his wee wee. This nonsense has to stop!!! And we as the mature people have to stop the personal shit. This is Business, like we all do everyday. Only the person that holds this job holds the future of us with their pen. Obama has had a free ride, we all know this and it is because the Chris Matthews of the word don’t want to be perceived as racist.
If we would realize this is about the top progressive bloggers hating Hillary(Huffington left her husband), oh but he was with another man and the Orange Demon hates the DLC (their necessary). Larry, Taylor and Uppity had to choose sides to try to bring some balance. But, we have to stop the crap now.

truth is that Obama can’t seem to win in the states that have actual voting, rather than caucuses (unless it’s his homestate or a state where he’s whipped up the race baiting machine.)

What a freakin’ joke this is. He can’t win Ohio, California, Texas, NY, Mass, Penn, NJ, etc. etc. etc. But Howard & The Elites (I’m thinking of starting a band by that name, catchy huh?) seem to think that he can pull of a victory in November against McCain (with the GOP attack machine, the 527s, the Obama baggage, and the touchscreen voting.

Oh.. love that ad by the way. I didn’t think it was scary or negative. It’s the truth. Duh. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, indeed. Can’t I just eat my waffle in peace???
