Olbermann’s Interview of Hillary

Thanks to Jen for posting the link in the C-Span thread below.

I will post the video and transcript of the Larry King Live interview when available!

  • Kourian

When is Larry King on? I shudder to think Today will have to host Barry tomorrow. Ugh. David Axelrod have you no conscience?

  • Janis

Bearding the asshole in his den. God, I love this woman.

  • http://bucknakedpolitics.typepad.com/buck_naked_politics/2008/03/media-obama-goo.html D. Cupples

I just watched it. She conducted herself with graciousness and rationality. I love that she made the same point I did in a blog post after Richard Scaife first wrote about her some weeks ago: Hillary can put aside personal feelings and sit down with people who’ve massively offended her.

That skill will be necessary when she has to deal with heads of state from nations like Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan….

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

I didn’t see it, hoping there’s a video out there.

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

Skills? Who needs skills when you are the ObaMoses, you snap your fingers and the Red Sea parts.

Oops, that’s just mythology. My bad.

  • Newport News Dem

Obamadroids are proving once again why for a generation of elections, democrats overwhelmingly were not entrusted by the American people to defend this country.

They attack and belittle Hillary for stating the obvious, a policy of deterrence.

“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran. In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.”

Barry and the $5 latte crowd cannot be entrusted with the security of this nation. That, my friends, sums up this election in a stunning reflection of reality in a dangerous world. God help this Republic if he succeeds in ascending to power (or non-power as the case may be)

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

I heard rebroadcast at Midnight Eastern. Check cnn.com.

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

I guess its a good thing McCain is the Republican nominee — he is a safety valve and will beat BO. But I really do think Hill will pull off the miracle. She’s a Clinton and they are tenacious and tough as nails. BO can’t even appear on TV tonight nor debate Hill in NC, he has no chance against the seasoned pol McCain.

  • The Gringo’s Wife

    GNG -

A few months ago I heard on some news report that a particular group had predicted Hillary would be win the election. I wish I could remember the group. They have only been wrong once? Anyone remember anything like this?

I’m going to play with my G-spot and see if I can’t find it. Oh settle down peoples! I mean “G”oogle.

  • Koppa Squat

The same old song and dance…

Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran.

  • http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com/ Gloria

Scaife is no worse than Olbermann at this point and Hillary managed to talk to the latter, too…

She did a great job, as usual.

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

Someone I trust with my life keeps telling me Hill will be the nominee, so lets hope the group you mention are right!

I’m thinking about who that could be…

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

That was the point: she is forgiving the both of them. And this avoids the embarrassment of having to forgive Olbermann directly. I think that’s why the question was asked. Don’t forget Olbermann mentioned the protesters outside of MSNBC, so his ratings must be suffering and just maybe he realizes he is wrong about Darth Obama.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Well I guess we could do the hope-y change-y thing with them and just tell them to go ahead and build up their nulear arsenal, but remind them that it’s not nice to destroy the planet. That should work.

  • mel

no the red sea does part, take the tour at universal in LA and you will see it happen!

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

    LOL.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

ACK! It won’t play for me!

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

I am assuming you are not a Hillary supporter:

Are you suggesting Obama have a sit down with an Iranian nuke and coddle it like an infant? :)

And Hillary was responding to the question what if Iran nuked Israel. Iran has to know they will be destroyed: its called deterrence and it works. She further elaborated that she would offer protection to other Middle-Eastern nations so they won’t need to build their own nukes. I think she has an actual plan, as opposed to one-liner drive-by comments on a talking points list.

If I misunderstood the intent of your remark, my apology.

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

You are not running for President, so it doesn’t have to. :)

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

Maybe I was hallucinating at the time but I recall hearing/reading somewhere that Sir Isaac Newton was not only a gifted scientist, but very prophetic. And that he predicted a female President around this time.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

LOL. I got it now in Firefox. So there. Pfffffft!

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

I stand corrected, I bow before the almighty ObaMoses!

We’ll have the petition President ObaMoses to open up the soopa secret guvmint warehouse where they store that crate containing the Ark of the Covenant. With today’s nanotech we could re-assemble the tablets of the 10 commandments from the dust and smashed bits.

The Ark is a transmitter to god so the ObaMoses’ corporate sponsors in the cell phone industry can charge god for cell phone time!

  • blobert

    How does she do it?
She must be completely exhausted. Three rallies today, Larry King, and this idiot.

  • blobert

it’s true. Obama harbors grudges bigtime. He’s another Bushco.

  • Cath

    Brava Hillary!

She shows courage and political savvy by conducting this interview with Keith Olbermann, who has been very unfair to Senator Clinton. I used to like Keith. Not so much now.

Her appearance prompted me to send another donation to Hillary’s campaign.

  • blobert

    Wow. She was awesome.

  • blobert

Nah, let them nuke Israel with no repercussion.

  • JoeySky

I just hate Keith Olbermann. How thick can he be? He didn’t realize that he is the one spitting sexism at HRC every day he sit on that show. C’mon pussy! Real men don’t talk sexism.

  • laurie

Hillary is a genius. I can’t believe how beautifully she maneuvers around ANY questioning. And on little sleep and in a hostile environment. I can’t even believe she’d go on his show with what he’s done to her night after night. She was so cool and direct and answered everything so well. I’ve never seen anyone this ready to be president. Wow, I’m impressed with her. Can you imagine how great she must have been in the courtroom? THe woman has NO fear and speaks so eloquently and looks the enemy right in the eye and doesn’t flinch and manages to inject humor and warmth and has the most stellar knowledge of policy. Amazing. I can’t wait until she’s our president. I really believe she can fix the mess left by Bush/CHeney. I don’t know why every Obama supporter can’t see how fabulous she truly is.

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

I hope those alleged Gaza trolls are reading this. Hill will be protecting them. I don’t know about Obama, he doesn’t have any substantive policy recommendations to speak of.

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

I don’t know why every Obama supporter can’t see how fabulous she truly is.

    Kool-aid? :)

I think they tend to be young, impressionable, shortsighted, willing to win at all costs while at the same time shooting themselves in the foot, inexperienced, show poor judgment and lack of worldliness, tend to follow leaders blindly over cliffs and have very poor truth discernment skills.

That sounds like Obama himself! :) I guess this is no surprise his followers are like him. The Obama supporters can thank Obama’s mentors for all the “wonderful” traits Obama exemplifies to them. And all the “glorious” trolls who come in here with a talking points list on hot-button issues du jour and perform their task of drive-by one-liners with ease — and no thought as to their actions in trying to nominate a cluster fuck inept candidate.

Let’s not forget the baiting and misdirection by the trolls. I guess when your mindset is “win at all costs” nothing is off limits.

Great day for Hill, even if Obama drops an election day bomb like he has done in the past. I recall during the South Carolina primary the Ferarro non-issue was dropped on us, and the Obama camp knew about it for at least a few days. Instant Karma ensued and the Wright story broke pretty soon after. :)

  • http://joyhollywood.blogspot.com Connie L

Cath, I agree with you with just about everything you said but when Keith told her that he had actually quit the network when he had to report attacks on President Clinton and her every night, I don’t think laughing at that point was the right thing to do. I think Keith’s remark was from the heart and it did effect his career for a while. Maybe she didn’t realize what he was actually talking about at that point. His questions were very tough but she did an excellent job. You had to see that Keith was impressed with her after the interview.

  • beebop

I couldn’t help but think of all of the obamabots’ parents and the responsible adults who saw what a smart and classy lady she is. She never hesitate to answer a question.

What was also obvious is that he had a list of questions. What has happened to journalists? No conversations. No follow-up. He could have had himself a nice exclusive there last night if he had been interested in actually practicing that dying craft. He probably had one eye on the Wizards/Cavs game. Just one woman’s opinion.

But you can’t pay for 18 minutes on a national network. He’s a childish fool to spurn any outreach. He’s pissing money away.

  • workingclass artist

    Ehemmm…..Hillary displays…TYPICAL GROWNUP BEHAVIOR….

  • Poor White

Hillary rocked in this interview like always. Great Job.

Ehemmm….Joey if your going to use sexist terms I prefer limp dick as it takes a lot of strength to be a woman….I’m just sayin’….

  • http://garymcgo.blogspot.com/ Gary McGowan

Well I found the leadup offensive but I liked Keith in the in the interview, and Senator Clinton’s responses blew me away. That is one capable lady there. I’m not on a rah-rah team for anyone, and I’m not going to indulge in any negative comment here, but I heartily wish her well and believe she has top notch Presidential qualifications in the tradition of our greatest.

Now I shall read the comments here.

  • http://garymcgo.blogspot.com/ Gary McGowan

I took it as a sympathetic laugh.

  • Nicole

I would have laughed, too, if I’d been in her place…the fact that the bombastic KO–although the interviewer!–would find an opportunity to cite an example of his own moral outrage (read: “superiority) at the father of the vast right-wing conspiracy, came across as ridiculously self-serving and sanctimonious(“Look what I did! Yet you dare to sit down with the man…”).

  • owanna

I liked her answer to his question about Osama’s immage… she said Katerina was in that ad too. Of course he didn’t see that. Over all she was amazing. I can see he tried but no waay

  • workingclass artist

I think ? his target group support is among 18-29 yr. olds. What this translates to me are 3 things. #1 political naivete and easily manipulated….#2 Most have no memory or experience LIFE BEFORE BUSH….#3. these are the PRIME years for MOMMY/DADDY rebellion and the forging of indenpendent personas….Just an opinion…..

  • workingclass artist

Add Newt Gingrich to that list too….She has real class…No wonder Pelosi can’t stand her…Pelosi is such a putz…

  • WMCB

Her answer was in response to a hypothetical – “What if Iran acquired a nuclear weapon, and launched a nuclear attack on Israel?”

I am curious to know what YOU think the publicly stated, forewarned response to that should be.

Come on, cough it up? What should be the US policy regarding what to do if Iran actually nukes Israel?

  • scott

She should have said right there, and Im sitting here with you after all you said about me.

  • Nag

God, I love Hillary. The great thing is that she was up in front of the Obama crowd (you just know they were watching) for 18 minutes and just blew away every damn question KO fired at her. In the den of their idol KO, a place they never expected to see her, and with such grace and ability.

Well the polls here in Pa have been open for 3 hours now and I can feel it in the air: a blowout for Hillary.

  • Kefa

She also slapped Tweety around by not going on Hardball and going on Countdown cause Tweety and KO both hate each other. ;)

  • apishapa

I could not believe Olberman was whining because she gave an interview to Scaife. She should have said, “why did I give an interview to you after the way you’ve treated me?” Hillary will go anywhere and talk to anyone, because unlike, Obama, she is fearless. Hillary is not afraid of the wolves den.

The whole “I just hate that guy and you talked to him, so now I hate you” nonsense made Olbermann sound childish. No wonder he is enamored with Obama.

  • http://myspace.com/loyaldissent Garlic-Nosed Guitarist

Makes sense, based on observing their behavior.

  • Rob Gard

The interview with Olbermann was well managed by Hillary, but even she could not prevent the trash talking (based on selective hearing) by Olbermann and equally in-the-bag-Obamafan, Richard Wolfe, later in the show. Those guys seized upon parts of answers to try to paint Hillary as a dangerous warmonger. Thoroughly disgusting behavior.

  • bmc

That is precisely right, Kefa. Clinton went on Olbermann’s show on purpose. Poke in the eye to Chris Matthews. HAH!

Clinton rocked in that interview. She’s forthright, straightforward and authentic. She’s strong. She shows that she has the strength and courage.

Eat your heart out Tweety. Olbermann gave Clinton an opportunity to give you the rhetorical finger.

  • llilytoo

And Hillary was responding to the question what if Iran nuked Israel.

Exactly. Which is like saying what if Iran nuked Texas. Duh. To quote her without the part about Iran nuking Israel first, is quoting Hillary out of context. My take is Iran doesn’t want to nuke Israel. It wants not to be bombed or invaded by us.

  • stodghie

barry won’t do you any favors. forget him as i swipe the dust from my shoulders and shxx from my shoes!

  • stodghie

she knew tweety would interrupt and not give her time to answer also. tweety so loves the sound of his own voice. it must be catching because ko sure picked it up.

  • Cath

    Connie -

I agree about the laugh. Not sure if it was the communications delay that made the timing a bit off when KO was expressing past support, but it seemed inappropriate.

Other than that, Hillary did a fine job. I do admire her and want her as my president.

It probably won’t go over well given the recent anger/nastiness toward Obama at this site (which I find a little scary), but I still plan to vote for Barack Obama if he is the nominee for the GE. I hope that’s not the case, but the alternative (McCain) is truly unacceptable.

  • Cath

Keith Olbermann has more class and intelligence than Chris Matthews. Can someone tell me why Matthews even has a job as a commentator?

Hillary showed smarts in going with a Countdown interview rather than anything with Matthews — an idiot, IMO.

  • Cath

I wonder if the majority of Obama supporters watch anything but The Daily Show and The Colbert Report?

(Funny programs, and often more thought-provoking than regular news or punditry, but not news programs, by their own admission.)

  • apishapa

Honestly, I do not see why Americans are expected to pretend Osama and 9/11 never happened. We are never allowed to see any images from the day that changed this country forever? We are not children. We know about Osama, and we do still consider 9/11 and the Bush Administrations response to it a huge issue. Just like Katrina.

  • apishapa

I forced myself to turn Olberman on just for the interview. I got home from work after it had started, so I missed the start, and I turned it off as soon as the interview, because I knew I would be reminded why I don’twatch Countdown anymore. Apparently it is a good thing I changed channels.

  • Mitchman

I could not believe Olberman was whining because she gave an interview to Scaife.

The issue is many of us, me included, defended the Clintons endlessly against the likes of Scaife & company for YEARS….!!! Have you watched “The Hunting of the President”…??

And for Hillary to “break bread” with Scaife & company and laugh at those who question her for doing it – well that’s annoying to no end.

It let’s me know I wasted my breath for years defending them – I should have said, you know what Hillary must have k*lled Vince Foster and covered up. It would have saved me a lot of headaches…

Hillary & Bill will do anything to win – that’s a little scary.

    – Mitchman

  • apishapa

I defended the Clintons, too. I still stand up for them against everyone in the damn world right now. Yes, Scaife was and is despicable, but I do not fault Hillary for granting an interview. And in case you haven’t noticed recently all of MSM has piled on both of the Clintons for over a year including (especially) Keith Olberman, printing all kind of accusations and lies. Along with the BloggerBoyz it has been a misogynistic Hillary Hatefest for over a year. I am sick of it. SO, since MSM are all acting as bad or worse than Scaife, what the hell difference does it make?

So, good for him standing up for her ten years ago. His behavior for the last several months completely erased any debt she owed him.

  • JM

I am probably one of the few who has the very basic cable coverage which fortunately does not have MSNBC, so this is my first opportunity to see this interview. Keith is a putz, no doubt, but I did expect him to be a little more angry. Just the mere contact with Hillary softened his rantings! Hillary was excellent in this video. I especially liked the ending in which you pointedly showed that she is the true “uniter” in this campaign. Way to go Hillary!

  • Bertha

She was great! I quit watching Mr. Blowhard a long time ago because he was openly partisan, much to my dismay. However, she took him on like only she could, and displayed all of her intelligence and leadership abilities on that brief segment. What a terrible loss to our country if she is not elected president in these troubling times. Haven’t we learned nothing after two terms of a “likeable” and terribly inexperienced president? Are we this shallow as a people?

  • Newport News Dem

Hold it, if they nuke Texas, will that preclude another Bush ever becoming POTUS? Just askin’ for a possible upside…..

  • Newport News Dem

I thought that was the message of Obamasiah, talk to your enemies. Must only mean it for Elmer Gantry (D-IL)

Hill disarmed both scaife and obamamermann. That seems like a POTUS to me, so join the cause!

  • Newport News Dem

    How about…..

I HOPE you won’t do that again and
    You really brought
    CHANGE to the Middle East…?

  • Johnny

I’m simply amazed at the stunning amount of bigotry on this site. Aren’t we supposed to be the party of tolerance? Sounds more like you’ve all been taking notes from Karl Rove.

    QUIT WHINING!!!!!
