Barack, A Certain Loser

WTF!! I have heard Bob Beckel (so-called Democratic strategist ) on Fox News and Chris “Tweety” Matthews on MSNBC declare the race over. Not the vote in Pennsylvania mind you. Hell, who gives a rat’s ass what people vote for. These media mavens have decided that Barack must be the nominee. When tonight is over Hillary will have crushed Barack. She will have a double digit victory. Despite such a commanding win, these media hacks seem content to ignore what voters have actually decided.

So let me try a variation of the Geraldine Ferraro musing. If Barack were white, would he still be considered a viable candidate in light of the following numbers?

Since Feb. 20, Hillary has won states with 70 electoral College votes representing 48.9 million voters.

OH 20

TX 34

PA 21

RI 04

Obama can brag about Vermont’s 3 electoral votes and its 750,000 voters.

VT 03

How bad does he have to suck before Democratic super delegates realize he cannot win in the fall. Barack has failed (or will do so by midnight tonight) to win New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Texas, and California? He lost the popular vote among Democrats in the largest population states. And he won’t dare insist on a revote in either Michigan or Florida because he knows he would lose those contests.

Despite not having a significant political victory decided by voters in more than two months, the media and some in the Democratic party are maintaining the fiction that this guy can win in the fall. Republicans are begging Howard Dean to hold the course and coronate the Golden Child. But this much is clear–no white male would get a minute of media attention with a record in competitive elections comparable to what Barack has achieved in the last two months. That ain’t racist. That’s just a fact. Just ask John Edwards.

Ehemmm…….My personal observation is that Dean the Putz is most likely APOLITICAL and lives in a universe of one ( himself ). this is why he so indentifies with OBAMESSIAH ( who I believe is apolitical as well ). This is why Dean he Putz doesn’t give a shit about the party or it’s future. The Party is simply a tool for Dean to shore up his gigantic ego. Whatever OBAMESSIAH spews as to political ideology or platform is a sham and will disappear if elected into office. Look at what GWB did to the GOP cause. Once elected he veered off into a neo-con agenda that is a didaster. What the agenda of Neo-libs is will be equally disaterous.

All this talk about “women” and “white guys” is making me wonder what happened to the unity and love.

    Fabrication, smoke and mirrors.

He tried to pull another rabbit out of the hat and it was empty.

Gays, Jews, Guns, Church goers, Women, White guys, Core Dems, crossover voters, Italians … he’s gonna be real lonely in November.

Youth, AA and clueless elitists for Obama.

  • Catriley

The sad truth is that if Obama had taken mostly after his 50% Irish side, we would not be having this conversation. It makes me sad to think of how many AAs believe that he is their savior. Having him in office will not make their lives better, just as having Condi Rice as Sec. of State hasn’t done a thing for the cause.

If Obama, as a community organizer, and as a State Senator, can be obvilivious to the people freezing to death in his own neighborhoods, then why do they think he’ll suddenly care now? The best candidate for voters of ANY race, religion, gender, or orientation, is the one that can deliver the goods.

As a woman, I totally can understand the excitement that having an “AA” candidate must be like for the AA community, because as a woman there is a certain feeling of pride and possibility of having Hillary in the race, as well. But.. I would not support her if she was not the more qualified and reliable candidate. As thrilled as I am to see a female in the race, I was an Edwards supporter first.

You have to pick your president with your HEAD, not your heart. The future of the Country depends on that. A symbolic victory means nothing in the scheme of things — we have to have results IMMEDIATELY.

        This is just a clip:
“..[]victim of this strange, mass psychosis. Smiley was driven to quit his spot on radio’s syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show by Obama zealots who have constituted themselves as a mob, sworn to eradicate from the Black public sphere all whose loyalties to the Great One are deemed questionable. The virtual stoning and exile from Black radio of Tavis Smiley is even more grotesque when it is remembered that, just a few years ago, only a handful among Obama’s current legions of Black zealots had even heard of the Chicago politician. It seems like only yesterday that Tavis Smiley, the hyper-energetic Black information entrepreneur, appeared destined for permanent Black icon status, through his many radio, television and print media products. But Smiley violated the Obama mob’s supreme commandment: Thou shalt not question Barack, period.”

As Harold Ford she should be demanding debates with Obama day after day until he submits. He is losing his footing and is not up to the fight. He is weak in debates and the more there are the more the Party will realize that he cannot beat McCain (or anyone).

    • simon, too

      Agreed.

And it is not good for him to be perceived as even more weak, especially weak to a woman.

Sorry, just the way it is, Clinton had to be very careful about race, Obama had to be careful not to appear effete, afraid of and intimidated by a woman, and they failed.

I mean, I have to wonder what a lot of guys think about Obama’s ability to stand up, his courage, if he can’t even take on Clinton without whining, and backing down, as he did with the finger, and with the debates.

She didn’t say a word, no one from her campaign did, but in retrospect, the more he whines, with every gesture he makes, he looks like pure wuss, afraid of Clinton, afraid of EVERYONE.

Fantastic! I will be donating more tonight after doing so yesterday.

I have put up my first post on Clinton’s win tonight, contextualizing it in terms of the larger nomination contest and giving some idea of what Clinton had to overcome in order to get this Rocky-like victory:

Hillary puts the smackdown on Barack in PA

North Carolina, a “Black Belt” state, is meaningless as it will not be won by Dems in the general election and it over-represents the African-American vote as compared to both the total balance of the state’s electorate and the even more important national electorate. The African-American vote as part of the national electorate is only 11-12%. That’s it. In the Democratic Party, the AA vote is around 25-30%, and in states like South Carolina (where the Obama race-baiting paid off) it is more like 55%. This has allowed Obama to get pretty but statistically irrelevant wins as concerns the general election.

Barack Obama is a ‘niche’ candidate who has gamed the caucus system and played the white guilt card to the hilt. You are now seeing the unraveling of a strawman, as we have tried to tell many of the Kool-Aid drinkers.

Superdelegates, it is time to do what you were created to do: Give us Dems — those who have voted for Clinton over Obama by a majority — a chance in November. Choose Hillary Clinton, or leave us with the second coming of George McGovern and a staggering defeat in November.

  • hillarysmygirl

Karl Rove (the evil pink-eyed demon) is on Fox tearing down the demographics of who voted for Hillary in Pennsylvania and the statistics are about 60-30 in Hillary’s favor among the areas with the largely “typical bitter small-town white people.” You know, those lovely people who invited New Hampster in to use the bathroom and offered him cookies and lemonade…you know, THOSE horrible Americans who voted for Hillary in California, New York, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania? Karl is practically drooling on his paperwork, he can’t WAIT to get his hands on Obama if he’s the nominee…Please dear Superdelegates, you can be my God for the next 3 months and I’ll pray to you every night, Please God See The Light and vote for Hillary! She’s our only chance (she and Obi-wan…wait, maybe she IS Obi-wan!)

Hey, Howard Dean, how can our nominee win if he didn’t win California, New York, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania?

    • flyarm

ahh well Dean is counting on Wyoming..where around 8,000 registered dems showed up to caucus out of 59,000 registered dems..

and Dean and Brazile pissed all over 1.7 + dems in Florida!

the loss is on Pelosi’s table in Nov if Florida is not counted for the nomination..count on that!

The presumptive candidate cannot be having this kind of results. He should be gathering strength building coalitions and gathering momentum. But rather than going in that direction his campaign seems to be grasping at straws. In the 2004 campaign after several Kerry wins the votes believed he would be the candidate and his momentum gained speed. In the republican primaries. After several victories by McCain both Rommney’s and Huckabee campaigns fell by the waste side. Vote the voters in PA are saying at the very least we have serious reservations of Obama. Thats the best case senario for his candidacy.
His whole campaign is based upon a couple of coalitions and he has maxed out on them and has to reach out to others which he seems incapable of doing. I just don’t see if he loses Indiana, WVA, Ky, Puerto Rico, but hangs on to close wins in Or and NC how he can make an agrument for getting the nomination. Having said that I think Hillary must win either NC or OR to have a undeniable claim on the nomination.

Just sent Howard Dean the following in response to yet another request for money for the DNC:

    Hi, Howard,

Nice to hear from you again. You might wonder why I’ve not sent anything in response to your several request for funds, some of them urgent. I’m waiting. I’ll be happy to send you something as soon as the Florida and Michigan delegations are seated. Right now I’m committed to individual Congressional candidates I like (WA-08 looks like a good place) and to my current choice for the Democratic nomination and to support for my own legislative district organization. But I’m holding back something for the national party as well, and you can have it soon, just as soon as the DNC resolves the Michigan and Florida delegation questions satisfactorily. I understand you told David Bender the other day that it would be June. I sure hope so or even earlier because I would love to send you the money.

I sort of feel bad about not fulfilling and exceeding my pledge because I really want to replace the Republicans in the White House and elsewhere, but I have a little principle that’s just nagging at me. It’s that disenfranchising voters is such an evil, nasty Republican thing, I can’t tolerate it for any reason whatsoever, especially in my own party.

Sorry about this, it’s the principle of the thing. I hope to hear again from you soon, and I hope it’s good news about the Michigan and Florida delegations.

    Chuck

    • Kourian

That is a really good idea. Hold them ransom to seating MI and FLA. Great idea!

I just a got a request for money from the DNC and they’e saying I could provide invaluable help as a volunteer in my state in the GE. Uh, I live in Michigan now they’re saying it’s a battleground and important state – the same DNC is telling me I don’t have a voice despite having voted in our primary. Believe me, I’ll be sending them a letter too.

If the DNC does not want to look at the number narrative told by the voters, they should consider the numbers told by the dollars. THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, DNC CAN NOT AFFORD THE LUXURY OF A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WHO SPENDS MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND WINS ONLY HIS HOME STATE AMONG THE “BIG” ELECTORAL VOTE STATES. Such a candidate sucks up all the cash in the money stream and that will enormously hurt congressional, senatorial and gubernatorial races across this country. GET A CLUE DNC; there won’t be a party in Denver if there are is no money to pay the bills.

When you think about it, it’s really unbelievable. This 2008 election should be a slam dunk after eight years of W. But look what they’ve done – AGAIN.

    Unbelievable.

I apologize if someone already made this comment, but from my perspective, the more apt question, Larry, is if Obama were a woman with these numbers, would he still be considered the viable candidate? I really don’t see either question as rhetorical. I see them as jumping off points for some good discussions.
I haven’t declared my allegiance to either candidate because my first two choices were knocked out (Biden and then Edwards), and I am superstitious – don’t want to jinx anybody else. However, I’ve noticed that I am prompted to come to Clinton’s defense more and more frequently because 1. she is the only candidate who has been made to walk through the fire by the so-called “press” consistently and continually from the beginning of this race; and, 2. as an N.C. voter, I want to have a choice in my primary. A voter who wants options … apparently a foreign concept to certain pundits.
No matter what, I can say with certainty that I will not be voting for John McCain.
