I confess: I’m a Rezko trial junkie. You can’t make this stuff up — this parade of colorful, shady characters who promoted Obama on his rise to national prominence, gliding him along like a wave on a sunny day. (I feel a cartoon coming on…)

Chicago investigative reporters have done a good job tracking a spider web of corruption and backroom deals. Obama’s name is attached to many of them. Evie Pringle has formed rather solid opinions of Obama after looking deeply into “Operation Board Games”: Read her work.

Meanwhile, the mainstream media mostly ignores the unfolding story. But, it has to hit the national news sometime. And it should be a bad bite.

    Of course the MSM is ignoring the Rezko trial. It would be unacceptable to make The Chosen One look bad. But never fear, they will find a way for it to be all Clinton’s fault.

      The hypocrisy of this so called news media is maxed out on this election and have no qualms about telling us WHO THEY have decided they want as president..So I appreciate the pushback of the different blogs and eventually making the MSM pick up the stories..but, as most of us we hope it is not too late…But, again I have to believe in “MIRACLES AND OUR GAL HILL” I believe she is going to make it and Obama is doing a good job of doing himself in and the Wright interview in my humble opinion did nothing to put that mess to rest..Now for the mainstream to get the Rezko trial up on the radar and day after day the connections overtly or just under the surface…Anyone paying attention cannot in all honesty say Obama could know nothing of the corruption that was goin on there as he was one of the first to push the state contracts out the door to Resmar construction or something like that Rezko and Assoc. construction crew who took the taxpayers of Chicago and Illinois for a big ride and the sucking sound ended up in Rezko’s and assoc pockets with Obama and wife right in midst and getting their kickbacks in other ways
      Condo…Michelle offer of positions to position herself just right for the benefits her newly elected state senator would have..then US senator and to not never see that the buildings which your friend built and was suppose to maintain now being foreclosed or already foreclosed on quite a tab for his constituents while him and his wife are making deals for their mansion in Hyde Park…what a disappointment this man of HOPE has turned out to be … I was one of those with mist in the eyes in 2004 while listening to this bright young man who one day might be president..I was sure..now I know I never knew the MAN just his WORDS…AND YES WORDS DO MEAN SOMETHING BUT, ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS AND WHEN THIS MAN COULD HAVE STOOD UP FOR THE DOWNTRODDEN ETC…HE WASN’T THERE..
      Who is this man trying to find a quick path to power and wealth..I have faith in the Clintons to do the right thing for our country and our veterans as a vet I seen the difference Bill’s administration made in our VA hosp …
      I saw the differences in peoples lives now people are hurting all around me again..they can’t even afford to buy the gas to get to work to try to buy the groceries that can’t afford either and god forbid a kid get sick as no money for doc..
      I want my country back and HILLARY is the only CANDIDATE …

        The nat’l cable news is always saying that he is helped because 20% of Indiana gets Chicago television stations.

        But that always makes me think about the Rezko trial news, etc. So wouldn’t the nearness to Chicago, and Illinois, hurt as much as help?

          You are correct….Here’s the thing…Indiana is a conservative state and Gary is to Indaianapolis what Trenton is to the rest of New Jersey…The closer you get to Chicago the more conservative the back lash….Hoosiers don’t like Chicago to come visit very often….Even though both Gary and Indianapolis have sizable AA populations it is still the heart of the mid-west…Low tolerance for Crime and Bitchin…
          The Corn is great…..and I do miss that….By the way under the header of the only paper in the capital…Dan’s paper…It says in god we tust…IN will go Ohio…..The farmers love her just about everywhere cause those farmers read and ponder….They like attention to detail…Farmers hate being dismissed by the elites just as much as the rest of the working class….Congress is finally dealing with the Farm Bill….Clinton is working on meeting with the star…schedules

            IMHO….BABY-O will focus on NC cause his odds are’nt good in IN. I think she’ll get a clear farm sweep throughout the mid- west. BO knows this so he will mostly repeat what he did in Texas….Campaign on the college campuses…a few farms that are not too dep in the wrong cracker territory and a few cities…namely Gary and Indianapolis….The closer he gets to Ohio the more he loses…and emphasizing the Kansas Roots of gramps and racist granny won’t help much…I’m just sayin’…Hoosier Hoops knows best….as he’s still there….

          Hello to all. I am new the site. I enjoy the articles and respect the people who post here because I have seen some very intelligent dialogue. I also like the fact that you don’t suffer from fools when infiltrated by the koolaid gang. I usually don’t post but since I live here in Northwest Indiana, I think I should try to answer your question regarding Obama’s home court advantage. My answer is that I wouldn’t put too much stock in it. Seven of the local mayors and multiple town councils have endorsed Hillary.We also love Senator Evan Bayh and speculation about a VP spot is highly favorable. He will most likely get the AA vote in Gary but the surrounding area is predominately white and racial tensions have always been a problem. Yes we watch Chicago news and one thing that is certain in Illinois politics is that they always eat their own. The general consensus is not if Obama will be hurt by Rezko trial but when. We expect the governor to be indicted first. I would not be suprised if Rezko turns on BO to save himself and I think it is interesting that his attorney has brought up his name several times witin the last few weeks. I for one am looking forward to it.

      Great cartoon, Pat. Even better is the story of Rezko and his dirty dealings. But my worry is that it’s far too complicated for anyone to follow and that makes it tough to connect to Obama. Lots of squiggle room for him here to dismiss it. The voting public needs something simple to knock them over the head like “Obama found with live boy, dead woman”. That would resonate-this story takes concentration and requires that someone follow regularly and pay close attention.

      That is the challenge: How to boil this stew down to the real meat. Bullet points, sound bites. Make it easy to see the corruption. Can it be done?

        Rezko smurfs, so this is a new word in the corruption lexicon, for most Americans.

        And the more that is exposed, in terms of the IL and Washington connection, the better, the easier to understand.

        How does Rove fit into it, how does Iraq fit in, as well as political “fundraising?”

        What I see mainly is the same group of men, all highly narcissistic and highly untalented, all mediocre and incompetent, from Rezko to Rove.

        Maybe like the movie “12 angry men” but “12 stupid crooks.”

        A spider web of corruption, and finance, done by a “billionaire boys club,” is a good way to start explaining the smurf.

    Well this morning I wandered over to the Indianapolis Star…( Quayle’s paper and I have’nt been there since I left the state in 92…) and BABY-O is on the cover wearin a basketball jersey shootin hoops in Kokomo…Apparently he went and met with the editors of the paper to for a Q&A….BABY-O is playin up his granparents and those Kansas Roots….Also his working class creds…I have a new flash for UPPITY that answers her question on why he always wears a black suit….To Quote BABY-O …” I basically buy 5 of the same suit and then I patch them up and wear them repeatedly. I have 4 pairs of shoes ”

Clinton was in Bloomington….Gas is a big problem in IN. and I think her hittin hard on the oil companies is a good strategy…I think she’ll take the state.     I’m reading Evie’s article right now, but the first few paragraphs got me to thinking: What if “Coward” Dean’s actual strategy is to wait because he knows, or thinks he knows, BO will have to drop out soon, and he doesn’t want to alienate AA voters by doing the dirty work himself. That makes a little more sense than what most of us, including myself, have been thinking the reason is, which is Dean’s in the bag for BO. Actually, neither one of those makes much sense – they should just toss him out now, and stop wasting time on an unelectable candidate.

      The Demeletes dislike the Clintons because they represent a different Dem than the ones they like. They also blame Bill for the 1994 and 2000 losses. It has never entered their mind that the term “Democrat” has lost its value to the majority of Americans. To the average American, they are the party of Blacks and Wine Sippers who are either dismissive or hostile to the concerns of Average Joe Citizen. The Demeletes have earned this designation. Obama’s little talk in San Francisco simply confirmed that opinion.

      I think it’s more likely that Dean is looking out for himself for 2012, hoping to capture Obama’s MoveOn.org network for his own use.

                I have been wondering why Obama seems to have an endless supply of money. Where is it coming from and why aren’t people making noise about it? I consider myself to be middle class and have been paying college tuition for 3 sons since 1998. We are giving what we can afford to give…which is not much.         Now the fact is that they HAVE associated with many questionable characters. Some think that Peter Paul (for which there are outstanding lawsuits) could be the undoing of Hillary Clinton (google for details, there is even a movie called ‘Hillary Exposed’)!

        Obama has FAR LESS association with Rezko, Ayers, etc than the Clintons do with shady characters (Paul, Hsu, International Profit Associates, etc, etc). . . the fact is that in politics there are always corrupt people trying to buy influence and it’s impossible to be held accountable for everything your supporters do or say.

        Or maybe they are both corrupt and THAT’S WHY Hillary is “HONORED” to be running with Obama!?!?!?

          Furthermore he has lied so boldly, publicly and frequently his arrogance is astonishing..worse than this his connections are deeply embroiled in the Mid East and domestic terrorists.

          Whatever else, evidently you don’t know about Recreate 68, very well organized, see their website and that they follow Ayres handbook on domestic terrorism while they threaten the DNC directly that if bo is not nominee blood will run in the streets of Denver…among other things members are given instructions on blocking hotel routes of Super Del’s to keep them away from voting at the convention.

          If you still think bo’s ethics, tactics or character remotely resemble Hillary’s then you have had way too much KoolAid.

      In college, I studied poetry, wrote some, critical theory.

      And I guess I was considered good, though I don’t consider myself very good, at all.

      But there were two groups, those with credibility, and the wannabes, who just didn’t have the imagination, or the brains.

    Two years ago, Hatem El-Hady was the chairman of the Toledo, Ohio-based Islamic charity, Kindhearts, which was closed by the US government in February 2006 for terrorist fundraising and all its assets frozen. Today, El-Hady has redirected his fundraising efforts for his newest cause – Barack Obama for President.

    El-Hady has his own dedicated page on Barack Obama’s official website, chronicling his fundraising on behalf of the Democratic Party presidential candidate (his Obama profile established on February 19, 2008 – two years to the day after Kindhearts was raided by the feds). Not only that, but he has none other than Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama, listed as one of his friends (one of her 224 listed friends).

    But his leadership of Kindhearts is not the only thing that has brought him scrutiny by federal law enforcement officials. Last summer, El-Hady was questioned by the FBI concerning his knowledge of possible conspirators in a UK-based terror plot.

    Hatem El-Hady’s interest in “change” is understandable. Following the closure of Kindhearts, he said in response to the government’s closure of his organization:

    “It’s dirty politics,” said Dr. Hatem Elhady, chairman of the board of KindHearts, which raised $5.1 million in 2004. “They do not like the way things are going in Palestine. They do not like the election results. But that is not our problem. Our problem is providing aid to people in desperate need of help.”

    The Department of Justice had a very different version of events. According to the DOJ, Kindhearts assumed the role of lead terrorist fundraising in the US after the government had closed other such Islamic “charities”:

    “KindHearts is the progeny of Holy Land Foundation and Global Relief Foundation, which attempted to mask their support for terrorism behind the façade of charitable giving,” said Stuart Levey, Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
