ABC Ignores Obama’s Misleading Message about Lobbyists’ Money

Some bloggers are upset with Barack Obama for giving conflicting responses about the flag-pin non-issue (Little Green Footballs via Memeorandum).  Aside from admiring Nancy Pelosi’s pearls, I don’t care about politicians’ jewelry.

I do care about mainstream media’s repeated failure to cover the more substantive misleading statements that Sen. Obama has made: chiefly, those about where he gets his campaign funding.

Today, ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos presented a prime opportunity to spotlight this important issue, but George and his guests chose not to.

George shared a video clip of an Obama campaign TV ad running in Indiana, in which Sen. Obama states that he does not take money from lobbyists.

Technically, that may be true, but it’s a highly misleading statement.

Obama reportedly stopped taking money from registered lobbyists when he announced his candidacy last year: that was after taking more than $1 million in lobbyist- or PAC-generated donations that got his campaign off the ground. (Chicago Tribune)

Recently, Newhouse News Services reported:

"State lobbyists and non-wage-earning spouses of lobbyists and
lobbying firm employees
have contributed $115,163 to Obama’s campaign through March 20, according to the center [for Responsive Politics]."

Oh, that’s right: Obama claims to have not taken money from federally registered lobbyists. Do words really matter in this case? Last year, the Los Angeles Times reported:

"Sen. Barack Obama raised more than $1 million in the first three months of his presidential campaign from law firms and companies that have major lobbying operations in the nation’s capital."

This month, USA Today  reported:

"Obama accepts money from spouses of federal lobbyists. In December, the campaign returned a $250 contribution from lobbyist Thomas Jensen of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, but a few
days later, it cashed a $500 check from his wife, Sarah, records show…."

"Obama holds fundraisers at law firms that lobby in Washington. Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor confirmed the campaign held five fundraisers at New York and Boston offices of three firms that lobby, including Greenberg Traurig [the same firm that lobbyist-turned-prison-inmate Jack Abramoff had worked for]…."

The Hill ran a story in March 2007, which states that an Obama fund raiser specifically asked a lobbyist 1) for his wife’s donation, and 2) for access to that lobbyist’s business contacts.

Then there’s the issue of lobbyists who don’t actually sign donation checks but who bundle other people’s checks.  When lobbyists bundle donations, Candidates know whom to thank.

SourceWatch has an entire section, with sources, on lobbyists’ bundling for Obama.

Then there’s the matter of corporate cash.  Sen. Obama claims that he is not beholden to corporate interests, because he doesn’t take money from corporations.  No federal candidates take money directly from corporations, because that’s illegal (Tillman Act of 1907).

Instead, the longstanding tradition among candidates is to take donations from corporate executives, employees and PACs.  Obama certainly has been part of that tradition, as the Los Angeles Times reported earlier this month:

"Obama has taken at least $263,000 from oil company executives, family members and employees since entering the presidential race last year, including $46,000 last month. At least $140,000 has come in chunks of between $1,000 and $2,300, the maximum permitted under federal law [likely not from janitors and receptionists]…."

According to Newhouse News services, Sen. Obama:

"People in the oil and gas industries have given $222,309 to Obama. He received $528,765 from the pharmaceutical and health industry, making him the largest recipient of the sector’s largesse.

"Obama’s Democratic rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, has raised $309,363 from the oil and gas industry and $506,001 from the health care and pharmaceutical industry."

Given the last quote, obviously my point is not that Obama is more or less tainted than other candidates.  As long as our campaign-finance system is riddled with loopholes, most federal candidates will take special-interest cash.  Period.

My point is this: Obama has taken special-interest money while falsely claiming that his campaign coffers are untainted.

In short, Obama is a player in the old Washington game — he just tells voters that he’s not.

The obvious reality and hypocrisy matter, because they go to the heart of a major plank in Obama’s campaign platform.  For months, he has marketed himself as a clean outsider who is, therefore, better able to change Washington than any other candidate.

Obama has received support from many hopeful people who believe the misleading claims and comparisons underlying Obama’s image.

The money trail is where the truth about politics tends to reveal itself — and the money trail suggests that Obama is just as tainted by special-interest cash and just as entrenched in old-style politics as any other candidate.

Now, if only more mainstream-media would fulfill their duty to us viewers and actually spotlight these issues and inconsistencies….

Incidentally, Larry Johnson at No Quarter posted a piece yesterday about following a different Obama money trail.

Lastly, the Center for Responsive Politics has tables of the three presidential candidates’ top-20 industry-connected donations:  Barack ObamaHillary ClintonJohn McCain.

OT but did you see this? http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-killerspin27apr27,0,6789688.story
WASHINGTON — After an unsuccessful campaign for Congress in 2000, Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama faced serious financial pressure: numerous debts, limited cash and a law practice he had neglected for a year. Help arrived in early 2001 from a significant new legal client — a longtime political supporter.

Chicago entrepreneur Robert Blackwell Jr. paid Obama an $8,000-a-month retainer to give legal advice to his growing technology firm, Electronic Knowledge Interchange. It allowed Obama to supplement his $58,000 part-time state Senate salary for over a year with regular payments from Blackwell’s firm that eventually totaled $112,000.
A few months after receiving his final payment from EKI, Obama sent a request on state Senate letterhead urging Illinois officials to provide a $50,000 tourism promotion grant to another Blackwell company, Killerspin
Killerspin specializes in table tennis, running tournaments nationwide and selling its own line of equipment and apparel and DVD recordings of the competitions. With support from Obama, other state officials and an Obama aide who went to work part time for Killerspin, the company eventually obtained $320,000 in state grants between 2002 and 2004 to subsidize its tournaments.

Obama’s staff said the senator advocated only for the first year’s grant — which ended up being $20,000, not $50,000. The day after Obama wrote his letter urging the awarding of the state funds, Obama’s U.S. Senate campaign received a $1,000 donation from Blackwell.

Obama’s presidential campaign rejects any suggestion that there was a connection between the legal work, the campaign contribution and the help with the grant. “Any implication that Sen. Obama would risk an ethical breach in order to secure a small grant for a pingpong tournament is nuts,” said David Axelrod, Obama’s chief political advisor.

Yo neglect to read the fine print….this is NOT new news and Obama has NEVER been charged with doing anything untowards regarding this table tennis stuff. Get a life and pay attention to the trial now taking place in los angeles: clinton vs paul – that might prove more interesting.

        • Sam Copeland

          1. It isn’t that it is legal or illegal, but that Obama claims he is a different sort of candidate and doesn’t take such money. That is the point of the post and why the LA Times article was quoted.

          2. How come that every time a question is raised about Obama, there is an immediate attack on Clinton?

I am curious about Obama’s campaign strategy should he get the nomination. Let’s suppose he is going head to head against McCain, and there is yet another question about Obama’s integrity.

Will Obama then attack Senator Clinton for something? I am not sure that will be very effective in the general election; it works now because Obama can take advantage of the media’s anti-Clinton bias.

          • Trivial Psychic

Maybe if the Owahwah baby would have the balls his cult followers falsely attribute to him we could hear his explanation and not that of the trolls? Owahwah is not presidential at all if he can’t debate Hillary one on one more that four times.

        • MessyMarcy

Yo Ellen. There seems to be a lot of “not new news” surrounding Obama that is still quite relevant when choosing the nominee — Rezko, Ayers, Auchi, and now Blackwell. Which part of the Paul v. Clinton thing did you want us to note — the part where Hillary Clinton was completely dismissed as a defendant or the part where on appeal she was even awarded attorney fees?

          • Northwest rain

I WE are not in Chicago then THIS is news.

I don’t think Ellen or helen — whatever is one person — probably the troll name under which a bunch of teenagers work to get their blackberries — pay for response.

These troll/drools always show up and tell us what to think.

WE decided not your trolls. YOU trolls are one of the main reasons why snObama must be defeated.

MessyMarcy — not biting your head off — but the da*n troll. When this is all over I don’t think I can ever forgive the trolls. What snObama has done is evil. And the Chicago political machine must be cleaned up. I had NO idea how completely corrupt it was and still is.

        • simon, too

This matter hasn’t even been investigated fully, really, it seems as if nothing is understood out of context, it must tie into Rezko and his dealings, at some point.

I think even the most news blind person understands Obama did something illegal here, as he did.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg, the candidate made his monetary living this way, he seems more full time crook, than full time, well, whatever it was he did. Given the lack of records, and paper, (on the surface, anyway), it appears he did not really work for a living, not like most people with a Harvard law degree.

          • Sam Copeland

Well, if it isn’t illegal in Ill., what Obama did sure should be.

I teach school. Imagine what a folly it would be if my students placed me on a monthly retainer so I would write letters of recommendation for them. And that retainer made up about 80% of my yearly income.

This is exactly what Obama did.

He wrote letters for a ping-pong manufacturer while he was on a retainer from that ping-pong manufacturer and that retainer made up about 80% of his yearly income.

Now, it may have been a great idea to have a ping-pong tourney in Chicago. I don’t know. But, it surely is a conflict of interest to advocate for a ping-pong tourney run by the ping-pong manufacturer who is giving you a retainer.

            Ping-pong-gate anyone?

            • PMS

              Ping-pong.

              Waffles.

              Lobbyist’s money.

Obama always seems to to want to have it both ways, doesn’t he?

              • Sam Copeland

Well, if you are going to tell a lie, it is better to tell a big one. It is harder to track down than a small little lie.

            • Northwest rain

You know — Obama really missed his calling. He’s like one of the Caribbean lawyers — the kind that goes into politics.

I’ve spent sometime in the Caribbean and watched some very sleazy lawyers operate. Each seems to have a scheme to make money. And some aren’t that much different to the way snObama apparently made money.

There’s not many kind words for the lawyers. On one island the judges have to be guarded 24/7 — if they are the least bit honest with their judgments.

The chairman of the of the political parties is a very crooked lawyer — and he was one of the founding members of an animal welfare society. HE managed to figure out a the way to make himself richer — through the need to do something about abused animals — which is wide spread in the Caribbean.

      • Kevin

Ridiculous… funny how you chose to use the title you took from the blog posting – a false and slanderous one at that, rather than the actual title of the original LATimes piece: “Obama donor received a state grant”

So tell me… based on the same article the other blog author you link to read… where’s the “money laundering” part?

        ROFLMAO… weak, very weak

    • emilyR

“Any implication that Sen Obama would risk an ethical breach in order to secure a SMALL grant…”

You’ve gotta love Axelrod. I don’t believe he knows what he says (either–same as Obama).

I know he meant to make this go away, but really he just implied that Obama likes to get more money for his ethical breaches than what he could milk out of this particular deal. Well, David, he wasn’t such a big dude back then… And sometimes you really just have to take the going rate for ethical breaches.

I hope this story gets some play.

      • Trivial Psychic

Love your take on Axelrod’s spin.

You will go to the supermarket and find your favorite brand of hot sauce on sale.

        • yttik

I had to laugh when I read Axelrod’s defense, too. It came across just like you described. It’s not the lack of ethics that offends Obama, it’s the small amount of money he might have gotten out of the scheme.

      • MessyMarcy

But you got to give credit to Obama where credit is due — he may screw over the “little people” like the Maytag workers, but he really takes care of his big-bucks patrons — the Blackwell guy invested $112,000 in “retainer fees” and a $l,000 campaign contribution to Obama and in return got a total of $320,000 in state grants. That’s some return. If only those shivering people in Rezko’s buildings could have managed to scrape together a few bucks.

SUre did: and it’s very interesting, isn’t it?

  • John

Off-topic, but I just drove 540 miles from Vermont to Maryland (end of spring break) and listened to a variety of talk shows on the way down. I took a few notes on the talking points I heard:

    1. Barack Obama was “raised by a single mom”- at least 6 times.

    2. Barack Obama gets his money from the grassroots: at least 8 times, once from Obama himself in his bullshit-a-thon with Wallace on FoxNewsChannel.

    3. Michigan and Florida shouldn’t count because they weren’t contested: 4 times.

    4. Barack Obama doesn’t take money from oil companies: 4 times.

    5. Hillary Clinton said she’d nuke Iran if Iran attacked Israel: 5 times.

(BTW, anyone else out there hope that the Obamabots keep attacking Hillary for saying that the US COULD annihilate Iran if it attacks Israel? I can hear the Jewish voters marching into the Hillary camp now. I just wonder why OBAMA does not just agree with her.)

Also: On a replay of the Tom Hartman show, Hartman asked a caller “why are you supporting Barack Obama?” The caller proceeded to go off on a four-minute rant in which he called Hillary a corporate shill, said she would appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court, etc. and if she were nominated, he’d vote for Nader. Hartman interrupted exactly once, to ask if he would vote for Hillary if she were nominated. He got the above answer, then let the caller continue.

The very next call was from a female Clinton supporter. Hartman asked “why are you for Hillary?”
The caller said “first I’d like to respond to some of the things the last caller said.” Hartman: “No, just tell me why you like Hillary.” The woman continued to try to combat what the previous caller had said, but Hartman kept cutting her off, and finally “let her go.”

    Fair and Balanced.

    • simon, too

Hillary Clinton said she’d nuke Iran if Iran attacked Israel: 5 times.

This actually works for most people, though of course it would never come to this.

Why are you such a nasty person??? Does it make you feel good to make comments like this??? Listen to some radio stations and you will hear all the negative crap on Obama, listen to others you will hear it all on Hillary – who cares. Intelligent people can filter out what is true and what is pure slander.
You do enough slandering on Obama on this blog as well as Taylor Marsh-you can apply all your words to yourself.

      • MessyMarcy

You’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but before you call someone else a “nasty person” perhaps you could consider what type of person spends her time on a blog complaining and whining and attacking others for telling the truth about Obama. Cut back on the koolade. Like all drugs, more and more will be needed to sustain your Obama-high; the crash will be a real bummer; and the side effects might prove to be permanent.

And here I thought I had the psychic skills. You are able to judge a person’s character based on one paragraph? I think most people would not call someone “such a nasty person” based on one paragraph.

I hear you, but it’s not just about negative Hillary stuff.

It’s that many mainstream media (TV) really like Obama and won’t cover some of these stories that some reputable papers have covered.

That’s why blogs like NQ and TM run such stories.

  • John

I also heard any number of people say that the Superdelegates would give the nomination to Obama- remember back in the good old days (February) when Obama’s people were denouncing Superdelegates as Undemocratic and Evil? Now they LOVE Superdelegates- and that OF COURSE you can’t count Michigan and Florida, those votes dont count!

My favorite argument is “Michigan and Florida will be seated after Obama is nominated.” I hope that the Michigan and Florida delegations walk out of the convention if they aren’t allowed to vote on the party’s nominee. They shouldn’t allow themselves to be used as props like that.

And this November they can give Obama a nice big “We Remember” message by staying home on election day.

    • beebop

You can imagine how close to the action they will be at the Republican convention!

    • Ellen

Get over the MI and FL issues….you DO NOT change the rules mid stream because Queen Hillary is losing. Non of this was an issue for the candidates until after she realized she would not be guaranteed the nomination. It is not the candidates who write the rules nor pay for a re-vote. It’s over – the delegates will be seated but their votes won’t count the way Hillary wants them to.
The Clintons are not in charge of this – what part of that don’t you understand???

      • John

You, Ellen, are the one who fails to “get it:”

The rules do not explicitly exclude Florida and Michigan. Their delegate votes CAN be re-instated. If the DNC choses not to do so, it’s saying that the people of Florida and Michigan simply do not matter because….

New Hampshire, Iowa and SC ALSO broke the rules and went unpunished. Why the double standard? We can argue all day about it if you want, but it’s kind of pointless because…

All your chastising, pouting, hair-pulling and foot-stomping can’t make me or anyone else cast a vote for Barack Obama. You see, Ellen, the DNC doesn’t own my vote. I won’t automatically vote for whoever claims to be the legitimate Democratic nominee if I think that person got the nomination by illegitimate means. Rant and rave all you want. Scold us for not “going along.” But for me, my vote is my vote. I’ll cast it for the person I want to cast it for, and no amount of Obamablather is going to change my mind.

Now, what part of that did YOU not understand?

        • http://bucknakedpolitics.typepad.com/buck_naked_politics/2008/03/media-obama-goo.html D. Cupples

As a Floridian, I’m more familiar with my state than Michigan. One person commented at my blog that Florida shouldn’t count, beause Obama’s name wasn’t on the ballot.

That’s the kind of spin that Obama’s camp (or supporters) are spreading.

Incidentally, I saw Obama’s name on my ballot.

The Obama-friendly sector of the media doesn’t want Florida to count: evident in their refusal to acknowledge the details surrounding the Republican legislature’s having moved the primary date.

      • PMS

        Ellen,

Why are you such a nasty person? And I mean NASTY.

Ahh, but the DNC did just that, changed the rules, and applied the rules differently. They were very nasty, too.

      • flyarm

no dear ellen ..Dean and Donna brazile changed the damn rules..what part of that do you not get..and when they changed the rules they punished Florida nfor being the first state in the nation and the democrats of Florida ..mere citizens ..for banning the DRE voting machines..for the 2008 general election..and mandating VOTER VERIFIED PAPER BALLOTS..THE ONLY STATE TO MANDATE vvpb AND bAN THE dre VOTING MACHINES.. and how were our citizrns paid back? last May when this bill was signed ..instead of being applauded for what we accomplished with a hug republican based legislature..we were punished by Dean and Brazile..because it was that bill that the republicans added an amendment to to change the date of the primary..and after losing a congressional seat..in fact the congressional seat from Kathrine Harris’s county of SARASOTA.. becuase 18,000 votes dissapeared from the DRE voting machines..it would have been a death knell for any dem state legislator to vote against that bill because the republicans amended that bill.

so please do not comment on what you have no clue about..it is Dean and Donna Brazile who broke the rules..the rules stated 1/2 the delegates would or could be stripped..and the super delegates were not in these rules..but don’t tell the media or Dean or Brazile who keep lying ablout it…. the voting Electorate has been f##cked by Dean Obama and Brazile..because it was immediate in May of last year that Dean Began trying to shove a Caucus down our throats here in Florida..gee i just wonder why?????? not!

fly a 2004 elected Delegate for the State Of Florida..

oh and by the way..the 4 citizens who got the DRE bill before the state legislature and got VVPB mandated just won the highest award given by the Florida ACLU! They will recieve the award Mid May..and i know this because two of them are very good friends of mine and i was involved in as much as i read the bill before it went to the floor of the legislature.,.and one of the gals called me after they presented it on the Floor of the Florida Legislature from the State House..Last year.

Dear Ellen just because someone says something over and over ..does not make it true…and i make my point by asking you..where are those WMD??

      • flyarm

yes ellen it was an issue..just because you didn’t know about it does not mean it wasn’t an issue..you are full of horse hockey..and you have no clue what you are talking about.

it was a big issue..the issue was made by Dean and Brazile..when they began shoving a caucus down our throats here in Fla when the bill went through..the bill being the bill that banned DRE voting machines in Fla and Mandating Voter Verified Paper Ballots..you know the very thing most democrats have been screaming for since 2000!

Yes that was the bill that changed our primary date ..it was an amendment attached to the bill to ban DRE voting machines and Mandate VVPB in the state of Florida..not for 2012 like almost all other states But for the General Election in 2008.

please shut your trap if you don’t know what the hell you are talking about..and you do not know what you are talking about!!

        i assure you of that!

And I will do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to stop anyone from voting for him. If you don’t mind, sonia, I am going to quote this shit bum’s words right there at Barack Obama’s website.

      Hey Mickey
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, good night,
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight.
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, adieu,
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu.

Well it’s the filthy insults, nasty, arrogant and insulting tone at other places toward us that drove us here. So I guess you will be more comfortable in those places. You could try daily kos.

      Mickey,

Say hi to Goofy for us, will you?

      Thanks.

  • jwrjr

Obama hasn’t made misleading statements about lobbyists’ money. He has lied about lobbyists’ money/

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

As a matter of detail, Larry, do you know that Nancy’s husband selects all of her clothing and assessories? The woman herself has the taste of a yak I guess. But no kidding, he does her wardrobe shopping.

    • jwrjr

Judging by her unwillingness to consider impeaching bush, she also has the common sense of a yak.

      • yttik

Pelosi is a good example of what would happen to the Dems if Obama was elected. He can’t live up to any of the expectations being placed on him and he will also be held accountable for all the sins of the Bush administration.

Pelosi was in office for three weeks before people let loose on her. She is one woman, but they expected her to have impeached the President, ended the war, and fixed the economy in her first month on the job. People, Democrats, have completely forgotten the last Speaker of the House. Pelosi is now the root of all evil.

Obama with no experience at all, none of the skills need to shovel great piles of manure, will become a blight on the Democrats. A miserable failure.(If by some miracle he even survived the general election. Extremely doubtful.)

Now Raw Evil was Newt Gingrich. That man should just be assumed bodily into hell without even dying first.

Although those pearls were pretty cool: my mother was looking out for a set.

You could buy a decent used car if you traded in that strand.

    AMAZING VIDEO!

This is the kinda change Obama brings

Send to everyone you know! It is listed at top reader articles at realclearpolitics.com

Seems most of the articles there are anti-Owahwah.

Larry OT, but I hope you are watching Reverend Wright live right now on CNN at the NAACP dinner. More importantly, I hope you watched the REverend Wendell Anthony introduce him. I’m still shaking here! It was that frightening.

    • Kevin

Out of curiosity, what was so scary so I’ll know what to look for when I watch the tape?

      • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Oh you’ll know, Kevin. Well, maybe. lol.

  • Kevin

As soon as the issue is raised in a substantive manner by the media against any one of the candidates – it will open the others up to equal scrutiny.

And neither the GOP or the MSM want to take that chance… there’s a lot of muck that can be stirred over all 3, But McCain is the Worst.

That’s what’s moderated some of it so far. GOP can sit back and watch Hillary and Obama beat one another up… (occasionally lending a hand or push here or there) – “keeping their powder dry” until they need it.

The attacks the GOP and surrogates use on either Dem candidate are going to lose strength if they’re used too early and often. They’ll be used tactically in certain states and strategically throughout.

    • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

It’s all about October Kevin. It always is with the Republicans. October is when the kneecaps get busted by the 527s. That is true no matter who runs against them. First the steady drip and then the REAL stuff comes.

    • http://bucknakedpolitics.typepad.com/buck_naked_politics/2008/03/media-obama-goo.html D. Cupples

Yeah, I know that all three candidates have dirty money. I mentioned that in the post. It’s te nature of our screwy campaign-finance system.

However, only one candidate claimed that he doesn’t take tainted money — while said money was finding the back door into his pocket. Obama.

OMG is anybody listening to Rev Wright LIVE on CNN. I know I just heard him F#*k with the Irish.

    • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Yeah I saw that too. Add the Irish to the list. What an bigot this guy is.

Did you catch that nutcase Wendell Anthony’s introduction? He was so damned mean and frightening. These folks think this kind of behavior is ok and we should embrace it? For Chrissakes, my family came from Europe! (Garlic noses). What the HELL did I ever do to them? They want us to embrace this type of nastiness? I don’t get it. It’s like they are all imploding. I almost feel sorry for Barack Obama for the out of control “help” he is getting. It’s like they want to run over everybody with a steamroller and get rid of the rest of us. It all reminds me of the Ayer’s era and the killings and riots. I was there and this all stinks to high heaven.

      • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

And GODDAMN AMERICA and all the other crap Wright said, he SAID. These words stand ALONE and it matters not what his sentences before or after were. My God, any fool would be running a mile away from that guy if they heard those lines in ANY context. It’s as if it’s ok to say these awful things because they are “clips”.

        • http://ObamabillsandNewPolitics verminme

And what about Soledad O’Brien and Rollin (in his dasheke) as the ONLY commentators on the scene? Doesn’t CNN have anybody with some objectivity – or are they all either O’Bama clones or former highschool cheerleaders? If I were black, I would be so insulted at his characterization of my right brain inability to read books, as if all I needed to do is jump on the desk and recite rap lyrics, and I get to be editor of the law review. WTF!!

Screwing with the Irish is not a smart move.

      • Reverend Wrong

        “Reverend” Wright is an oxymoron.

I was a little surprised that this information wasn’t addressed on This Week as well. And they talked about Hillary’s negative advertising but didn’t provide a single shred of evidence backing up the claim. I suppose that ABC got reamed for their debate questions and are playing it cool and mainstream for a while.

You’re likely right about ABC’s having been slammed.

Another thing that bothered me about today’s show: the “round table” (final segment) included Donna Brazile, Maureen Dowd, George Will, and a guy who seemed to like Obama.

      No representation of Hillary.
