NOTE: You can read the entire chat — including Larry Johnson’s remarks and debates with other guests — and view all of the videos that we displayed during the chat. Just click on the big arrow.

angels-demons-s22-sJoin our great friend and writer, Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy, and me for a wide-open discussion on torture — including different types of torture. We’ll be showing a number of videos during the live chat. We’ll begin at FIVE minutes before 9:00 p.m. ET.

Simply click that large arrow, and join in on our discussion of torture and its ramifications, which starts officially at 9 p.m. (but we’ll open up early!). All opinions are WELCOME, particularly since we’ve been having some heated debates in our comment threads and we all have much more to say and think about.

    What “PROs”? Are there any?

  • ExcellentOutcome

It’s revolting that this even exists.

  • mountainaires

There are no PROs to torture. Period.

I have to debate pro torture for class. Any ideas, I’m not pro torture myself.

  • oowawa

Oh stephanie–you’re on a very old thread here.  You’re not going to get many responses.  I’m unglued in time, so I don’t count.  Well, to argue pro-torture, you have to posit a situation in which information is needed to ward off a major catastrophe, and the prospective torturee won’t talk.  Can torture get the needed info?  Many would argue no–that the information learned would be false or misleading.  It’s a tough one!

  • anti torture

I believe torture is completely unacceptable. Torture is not a way to get even it only causes more pain

  • anti torture

if u believe torture is acceptable u need help. I would advise you to see a counselor and get some help. Torture is just wrong no exceptions!!!!
