When This Man Was 9 Years Old, Ayers Bombed His Home

Barack Obama reminds everyone that he was only 8 years old when his friends, domestic terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, bombed their way through America. (However, Larry Johnson has proved that not only did Ayers support and promote Obama’s campaigns from his first in 1995, but that Obama worked for Ayers for eight years. Well, John Murtagh was a bit put out by that remark because he was 9 years old when the Weather Underground tried to kill him and his family on February 21, 1970. Mr Murtagh wrote an April 30,2008 op-ed for the NY Daily News entitled, Barack Obama’s Pal Is An Enemy Too. [BELOW IS VIDEO/AUDIO of Murtagh's interview.]

Murtagh’s father was a judge hearing a case against the Panthers21, a group of Black Panthers who were being tried for planning the bombing of several landmarks and department stores in New York .

According to Murtagh, those two upstanding citizens from William Ayers and Bernardine Dorhn — from New York Weather Underground Cell — detonated three gasoline bombs at his home. They placed one bomb at the front door, another bomb on the front porch and they “lit” and “tucked” the third bomb underneath the family car behind the house.

The family heard an explosion but his father was afraid to leave the house because of a previous incident where scum balls opened fire on people fleeing their home under these circumstances. So they were essentially trapped in a burning house until neighbors told them it was safe to leave.

Bernardine Dohrn ultimately took credit for the incident. Considering her *ecstatic remarks about the manson murders and the fork they stuck in Tate’s stomach as well as her Lay Elrod Lay song dedicated to the man the Underground paralyzed, I imagine Bernardine took that credit gleefully.

In the Fox Gibson radio interview below, Mr Murtagh weighs in on what he knows about Ayers and Dohrn, their longstanding connection to Barack Obama and how that relationship is closer and far less casual than Barack and Michelle Obama care to admit. The entire audio is worth listening to just to understand the interconnect. For starters, Bernardine and Michelle worked for the same firm together.

*“Dorhn incited the assembled radicals to join the war against “Amerikkka” and create chaos and destruction in the “belly of the beast.” Her voice rising to a fevered pitch, Dohrn raised three fingers in a “fork salute” to mass murderer Charles Manson whom she proposed as a symbol to her troops. Referring to the helpless victims of the Manson Family as the “Tate Eight” (the most famous was actress Sharon Tate) Dohrn shouted:

*Dig It. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!”

Something I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere is where the Weathermen went when they went Underground. And why did they decide it was safe to come above ground?

Is it possible that they created sleeper cells while they were underground? Is that the reason why they are unrepentant even to this day?

I am always suspicious of these terrorists who commit violent acts are involved in anti war movements or peace movements. In today’s WSJ online, Elizabeth Wurtzel writes a ding-dong piece about Ayers, Dohrn and Obama (apparently Dorhn was her teen idol) but nonetheless, she confirms the Obama’s and Dohrn’s decades long relationship:

“Northwestern University’s law school, which made her (Dohrn) a faculty member and director of its Children and Family Justice Center in 1992. And on swanky Sidley Austin, the elite Chicago law firm that employed both Bernardine and the Obamas some 20 years ago.”

I was 9 years old, at the time, as well, and remember all these despicable acts. I had a sense of moral outrage then (at their acts of destruction, with intent to harm), which hasn’t dissipated. Hearing this man’s account of the bombing of their home, imagining his family’s terror, reading about Bernadine Dorhm’s sadistic glee, only heightens my lingering outrage.

This underscores, once again, that Obama has neither the strength, the judgement nor the common sense to be president. Another fatal flaw? His decision to cleave to the Church of Rev. Wright and Black Liberation Theology means he doesn’t “appear” (an important distinction) to represent all Americans, only some.

I was 9 years old too and I remember this stuff too because lots of folks were scared…..There was such confusion between Anarchists, Black Separtists, Marxists, Student Protesters, Anti War Demonstators, Womens Libbers, Latino Rights, Gay Pride, it was like a vortex that played itself until spent.
I remember The Weather Underground very well…..I remember it seemed like there were links in the news as Terrorism became international……
It seemed that you never knew when a ligitimate protest might be turned into a riot…..Or when the ( PIGS ) which I took to mean the establishment were going to over-react just to keep the peace or because they were provoked. Who on Earth would want to return to those turbulent times !

It is not a link omission at all. It is specifically mentioned by Murtagh on the audio. Since it was his family they tried to kill, I kind of think it’s safe to say he has no problem remembering this. You also have to understand that Dohrn was a supreme leader of this movement and she herself issued the Declaration of War upon the government. She often “took credit” for things they did just so everybody knew it was the Underground that was involved. It is pretty safe to say that nothing any of the Underground cells did occurred without her and Bill’s knowledge. This was not a particularly huge group of people. I could probably take the time to find more than one Dohrn link to this incident on Google – and so could you.

All you need to do is the work. Exactly what does it take to set off YOUR bullshit alarm? This was not a ficticious incident. What I am saying is that there is no evidence to support your contention– and that of John Murtaugh– that this is the work of the Weather Underground.

Again, enter data now. Murtaugh says that Bernadine Dohrn has claimed responsibility for it “several times.” Where, and when? Name just one instance. Data, Truth, Fact.

If you look at it with an unjaundiced eye, you’ll see that this is merely a bit of political tomfoolery from a republican guy who wants to get in some digs at the presumptive democratic nominee. As example of the silliness of the man, I note that at the end of the interview with Greta on Fox, he claims that Ayers is “an advisor” of the Obama campaign.

The Wikipedia entry for the Weather Underground has a timeline for the activities of the group. The timeline includes bombings they claimed responsibility for as well as bombings they are suspected of but did not claim responsibility for.

The Murtaugh home bombing is not included in the list, which by itself ought to be enough to convince you that Murtaugh’s not being truthful.

From Murtaugh’s description of the night, with its “gasoline-filled bombs”, I’m inclined to infer that “molotov cocktails”– which consist of a rag stuffed into the neck of a bottle full of gasoline and then lit and thrown– were the, uh, IED.

Any cop’ll tell ya: this doesn’t match up with the MO of the Weather Underground, whose explosive devices were dynamite-based and in every case planted at public buildings, not private homes.

Just returned from Hendersonville, NC where Hillary drew more than 4 thousand (local news also said this) on a beautiful sunny day and it was un REAL!!

However, considering that Ayers helped Obama launch his political career and even gave money to Obama’s campaign, perhaps Bill Ayers thinks differently about what Obama believes or doesn’t believe. At the very least, Ayers and Dorhn look upon Obama as someone who they could support.

That makes me incredibly uneasy about this relationship.

Jeremiah Wright knew them, too, since he used one of Dorhn’s quotes while preaching from the pulpit…”the United States of AmeriKKKa”. At the very least…if these people, including Wright, do not like our country then just deport them. The University of Illinois, Chicago, feels the same way, employing Ayers as a professor for lo these many years, and his book publisher appears to have swallowed its disgust long enough to have published a stunning number of works by Ayers on the subject of education.

And though his wife is denied practice in New York and Chicago, she teaches law at Nothwestern University, which I presume is as callow and shameless as Barack Obama himself, who though he had several opportunities, hasn’t driven a stake through the heart of both Bill and Bernadine.

A few years later, actually. And Ayers’ interview with the Times reporter was, according to Ayers in his letter to the Times, wildly distorted. Read the article and his letter and decide for yourself.

And Alice Palmer had a falling out of sorts with the Chicago left after her decision to vacate her Senate seat and run for congress. Seems her congressional run wasn’t going so well and she decided to run again after all for her Illinois senate seat, but by this time, Obama had enough time and effort invested in the deal that he wasn’t willing to step aside for the incumbent.

Long story short: Obama killed her candidacy with a legal challenge to her nominating petition (signature problems) and she was gone.

So maybe not the primary supporter of the man from Chicago.

As a sort of followup to that, BernieO, you need to appreciate the nature of local politics in Chicago. It’s a lefty town, historically, and they don’t really have a problem with the past of Bill Ayers. Or for that matter, Bobby Rush, the ex-Black Panther who beat out Obama in an early run for the Illinois legislature.

The US writ large is a different story though, and Bill Ayers is most definitely not a help in a national campaign, whether for senate or president.

So: both Ayers and Obama remain silent about the neighborhood friendship– or whatever it is– because there’s just no good in it for Barack.

The idea, according to the manifesto of the WeatherHeads, was to bring the Vietnam War home to this country, to display the destruction the United States rained upon Vietnam here, at home, in your living room.

Cheney and Bush, and the pigman Rove exploited patriotism to sell the Iraqi war, the patriot act, et al, and younger people knew it was a crock of sh**.

So, where do they turn, for someone to repudiate Rove’s blatant artless hypocrisy?

They turn to Ayers, and Dohrn. (Rove, but of the left).

When a family member was in high school, she became involved with the catholic club, highly uncool by all standards of her teen age peers. And she reorganized it, creating volunteer teams to go to Appalachia for a few weeks, or to work with the poverty stricken, penniless elderly in Chicago, through a few other established organizations, outside of the school. So, the high school club that was formerly uncool became cool, appealed to her peers, while strengthening and aiding the community around it.

We should feel that way about our country, protecting and understanding what Jefferson intended, not the bastardization the republicans try to sell, or the hate Ayers, and Dohrn sell.

Why can’t we repudiate criminals within the government, be loyal to our country, and repudiate the hate of Ayers, and KarlRove, at the same time?

Well, I wouldn’t cite the veterans of the American Revolutionary war if trying to sell the idea of non-violent change; it’s poor salesmanship.

And I don’t think Ayers and Dohrn hate the country; they were merely wrong.

It’s tough to appreciate the actions of the Weather Underground outside of the context of the times. It was a time of madness and violence.

Set the Waybac for 1970, Sherman, and you’ll find the teenage me– with my too-short flared pants, and let’s don’t even talk about the hair– at an anti-war demonstration in MacArthur Park here in LA. Lost track of where this link came from. Obviously the article was from I have the vague impression that there was a flurry of writing/commentary stigmatizing the Sixties after the 2000 election and then again after 9/11. For some reason people were doing a lot of thinking about revolt and insurrection. Maybe this impression is inaccurate. Needs an archive search.

This was more than a generational tantrum. The basis of the transformation was a belief among young white suburbanites that their lives were pale and inauthentic next to the lives of hard-core urban criminals who fashioned themselves as ”revolutionaries” during the 1960′s. But Mr. Collier is right about the no-fault aspect of it. A substantial number of these children of privilege clearly saw ”the revolution” as a fashionable game that would be forgiven once timeout was called.

and in many cases that is just what happened. i had my own thoughts and actions during that period. however i never tried to harm anyone or break any laws. i don’t try and excuse any actions i take then or now by blaming others like the dorhn and ayers do as an excuse.

I can’t believe anybody would try to claim that what William Ayers did wasn’t that bad. That’s just idiotic.

Okay, nevermind all the usual arguments against violence, the evils of targeting innocent civilians, etc,etc. The Weather Underground were also extremely misogynistic. That was his girlfriend he killed. Those were women that wound up in prison, taking the fall for the whole group. You’ll notice Ayers never had to pay for his crimes. So on top of everything else, they were cowards who believed women in their group were more expendable. Just like many other terrorists do.

Ayers said they were not terrorists because they did not kill anyone.Tell that to the man who was 9 yrs old and whose father was a judge .They put a bomb under their front porch.What would you call that.Domestic Terrorism.If Dorhn thought it was good what Manson and his family did she is sicker than I thought.These people should not be in our country.
