Chelsea’s Happy Mother’s Day and My Mom for Hillary.

Chelsea recorded a video for her Mom this Mother’s Day. There is also a greeting card you can sign on Hillary’s site to send her your wishes for her this Mother’s Day.

My Mom passed away suddenly 6 years ago and as Mother’s day draws near, I have been thinking about her and how she would have viewed the current election. She was a life-long Democrat, a working Mom who raised three boys while teaching school and earning her Master’s degree. I have no doubt who she would be supporting in this election, none whatsoever.

How can I be so certain? Simple to say; hard to pin down. But I had so many conversations with her about politics, women’s rights, even specific conversations about Hillary. When I was a teenager, I used to tease her mercilessly and push her buttons about these kinds of issues just to get a rise out of her. My Mom could get very riled up on topics like the Equal Rights Amendment. My Mom, during some periods of her career, actually wore pant suits to her job almost everyday and I’m sure that the mean-spirited comments that are viciously flung toward Hillary these days would have offended, angered and hurt her. It pisses me off mightily.

In any case, Hillary recently participated in unusual event in Cary, North Carolina, one that did not receive much media attention. The event was neither a stump speech nor was it a high-profile, high-stakes debate. It wasn’t a policy laden panel discussion nor a press conference. It wasn’t a heavily promoted main stream media interview with the likes of O’Reilly or Stephanopoulus. Instead, it was a light-hearted exchange at a townhall sponsored by MomLogic.

Hillary answered audience questions about being a working Mom and she told of her experiences raising Chelsea during the time she was First Lady of Arkansas and in the Whitehouse. Advice and anecdotes shared between women. Girl talk. Something my Mom would have watched. Something I enjoyed watching. I’ve posted the video for you.     Speaking of Mothers Day

    First of all nice video from Chelsea.

    Next have all you Obamabots out there seen McCains’ Mother’s Day video on Youtube? It is an absolutely brilliant sly dig at Obama. The video must be giving Obamaniacs including his media lapdogs like Olberman coniption fits. Because they dam well know if Obama gets the nomination they can expect more of this down the road.

    I think what is really distressing the Obamabots is that that Mr HopeyChangey may have to run against a man who is actually unashamed, no actually down right proud, of the white woman who raised him. The McCain camp will want the public to get to know all about her. You know unlike the granny that Obama threw under a bus when it was politically convenient so he could defend momentarily the F’ing crazy racist charlatan he told the world was his spiritual advisor / surogate father.

    If Obama does locked up the nomination, the Republicans are sure to bring up “Where is the white woman who raised you Obama?” You know the 87 year old grandma who now lives alone in Hawaii. The one your wife probably absolutely hates with a burning passion. The one you never told the congregation at Trinity United Church of Christ about. Yes, what about those nice white kumbaya Unitarian liberal grandparents who took you in and saw to it you went to a nice elite private prep school and had lots of social outlets and sports in order to keep you out of trouble when your mother basically abandoned you so she could spend 12 years selfishly working on her PhD. The grandma who 75% of your Black voter support knows nothing about.

    Ah yes, Obama 08′ – Mr 35% of the electorate.

    Please why can’t my fellow Democrats come to their senses and realize that if they can not stand Hillary, there is still the third option of also dumping a sure loser like Obama and drafting an Edwards or Gore.

    But I guess the immature leftwing Obama supporting netroots secretly really want BombIran McCain in the White House so they can write snark for another four years and laugh among themselves.

    I got that email from Chelsea about her mother. Really nice and of course it was tied into a donation if possible. But the nice thing about it was a suggestion to give a donation in memory or in honor of our Mothers. My Mother was a big time Clinton fan and loved Hillary. I have a great picture of my Mother reading Hillary’s book. My brother sent her the picture and Hillary sent a very gracious letter to my Mother who was disabled from a stroke at that time. She had the letter framed with the picture in her room until the day she died. So in honor of my wonderful feminist Mother who marched and lobbied for the ERA and Abortion Rights and Democratic ideals, I sent another donation. What better way to honor my Mom! I told my kids to never mind a gift for Mother’s Day. Just send a donation to Hillary. I don’t need anything as much as I need Hillary to show them what courage and class and a real Democrat looks like. Go Hillary! Thanks Chelsea, too.

    What I admire is that Chelsea turned out all right. She didn’t become a Hollyweird type, boozing and drugging. Usually that’s because a mom was around and steered her in the right direction.

    Believe Hillary is proud of her, and Chelsea for her mom. It’s good to see a family that is together and loves each other.

    Hillary you did a good as a mom, and that’s the toughest job of all!

    I made a big mistake last night.I turned on MSNBC, which I have tuned out for many months since the Hillary Bashingon that channel was evident. I listened carefully as the pundits explained why the Women’s Vote will surely be cast for Obama because we will understand McCain’s reactionary vision of the Supreme Court. We do not need to be courted,or considered, we are invisible. women over 40 will naturally be concerned about the reproductive rights we fought so valiantly for being in jeopardy..don’t worry the talking heads said, Obama will get “their” vote, they’ll heal, they’ll fall in line..So,now,besides women over 40, lunch bucket dems don’t matter to the democratic party,michigan and florida voters don’t count, older white women are assumed to be in the bag, and seniors have one foot on the banana peel anyway..Now they have dismissed the female portion of the baby boomers,about half the population and expect that the democrattic party will unite behind someone ie. Obama that half of democratic Americans never wanted. They dismissively wave us away, carelessly toss their mothers, and dads aside who have valiantly fought to give them the freedoms they believe Obama will defend and protect. The freedoms that we fought for in sit-ins, and at marches, both for civil rights,and reproductive rights. These talking heads, these Obamabots, these elitest dems seek to make us invisible.And I say, with fierceness, the kind Hillary has shown, we will not be dismissed with their tortured linguistics, with their democratic impudence, their bratty
    inelegance. Many Obama voters would not be speaking their minds, or glibly assuming our votes if we hadn’t give birth to them, and fought for many of the rights they enjoy.I say now, hear us roar. I may be over 50,I may be a woman,I may be a shift worker, I may be a college professor, attorney, accountant,trucker. I have fought my whole life for freedom, all kinds, and I will NOT stop now and I know hundreds of women like me. we ARE fighters, and we don’t give our vote to someone we don’t believe in…and we are a huge group of people. Dr. Dean,Superdelegates you are assuming we are in the bag…bad assumption. We might all just take our pillboxes, turn on HGTV and stay home on election day. We will sip our green tea and stay off the kool aid. We will roar by not lining up, by not being taken forgranted, by not being in the bag…we will not go quietly into the voting booths to vote for a person that does not embody the attributes we expect in a Leader of the free world. We will not cast our votes for someone who doesn’t have the voice or the stature to stand up for ALL of us.

    Thank you for a moving tribute to your mother, and for posting the EXCELLENT videos (which I have not put on my blog for Mother’s Day). My deepest sympathies to you (and Uppity) on this sad anniversary, and for your loss(es).

    Not knowing your mother, I got a glimpse into her life by the son she reared. I imagine she would be very proud of you…
