Unelectable (and an Open Thread for Venting)

From the incomparable Flineo … and …

A tribute to Obama and the Democratic Party.

Written by John Smart and performed by Lisa V

Lyrics:
Unelectable, that’s what you are
Unelectable, your past is just too bizarre
That whiff of smug that clings to you
Your mentor has become an issue
Never before have you been more,
Unelectable, in every way
And forever more, that’s how you’ll stay
That’s why, Barry, it’s incredible
That you’ve become so unelectable.
Superdelegates want a winner,
Not you.

[LISA V is Flineo's friend. What a voice she has!]

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama isn’t likely to pick rival Hillary Clinton as a running mate, according to one of his most prominent supporters.

Senator Edward Kennedy, 76, without naming names, said Obama should pick someone [for VP] who “is in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people.”

“If we had real leadership — as we do with Barack Obama — in the No. 2 spot as well, it’d be enormously helpful,” Kennedy said.

    this is a great video.

I am happy to brag that I rewrote the lyrics on a lark about a week ago.

Someone just e-mailed me that he needs an open thread to do some venting…. so I altered the title for that purpose.

    VENT AWAY!

God knows we all need to do more of that! :)

  • mlr701

After you’re done venting and have gotten some sleep, set aside some time tomorrow for calls to WV! GOTV!!

  • ChrisXP

Like it! Classy (something kids don’t understand).

  • ChrisXP

We need an open thread even in the day! Was wanting to punch the monitor this morning as it was.

    …exhaling…

    AH!

  • http://www.liberalrapture.com/ John Smart

oh hey! i just saw you mentioned me. so flattered. I have been venting on my blog for so long about obama to a few hundred hits a day.
so nice to have something picked up and made BETTER. What a delightful video!!

stick to it Hillstars! Odd as it may seem I am hopeful Clinton will be the nominee. Uppity once said that “time is Obama’s enemy” this is so true. the more obama is exposed to clearer it becomes that he is utterly unfit for the White house.

Even after june 3 the race will still be on. We are finding out more and more about Obama every day and the more we know the less America wants him.

    Keep the faith!

  • scott

““If we had real leadership — as we do with Barack Obama ”

WTF he’s never lead anything in his life. Oh wait he was pres of the Harvard Lampoon and that foundation Ayers hired him to lead.

What is the name of that lovely young Canadian man who sings the old standards — a la Sinatra? I saw him featured on CBS Sunday Morning recently, but can’t recall his name. I adore that music.

if I had my way, there’d be no rap or hip-hop — just Sinatra, Dinah Shore, Rosemary Clooney, and on and on.

  • sjc-tx

Is barky REALLY not campaigning in WV??? Is he that stupid or just that arrogant or both?!!

  • sjc-tx

Aye and it helps to not even turn on the tv. I am SO SICK of all the carping, know it all idiots and their statements of “facts”…

  • scott

He’ll declare him self the presumptive nominee on May 20th But we have until the convention for that to be official, there’s a lot of time between now and then to take him down.

John love the song and love your blog.

    Unelectable! I’m praying! Great video!

Just worrying tonight. I haven’t watched MSM for months but hear things anyway. Fear that for the Democratic Party and the SD’s, it’s not about winning, but about putting Hillary down. But she continues on! What an inspiration!

  • Jack

I’m still trying to figure out where everyone got the ‘unelectable’ memo. I think it might be a little out of date. Maybe it was written before he was elected the democratic nominee.

You can tell a man by the company he keeps

Hillary Clinton did significant work on behalf of epilepsy causes for a foundation co-founded by Axelrod’s wife, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy. This meant a lot to the Axelrod family, as his daughter suffers from developmental disabilities associated with chronic epileptic seizures. Axelrod’s wife even said that a 1999 conference that Clinton’s convening on finding a cure for the condition was “One of the most important things anyone has done for treating epilepsy”

What type of person does it take to stab you in the back after you have helped their disabled child? What kind of selfish ungrateful shell of a man would do something like that? In this case David Axelrod is that kind of individual, an unscrupulous parasite who would damage the very person that came to his family’s aid to help his disabled daughter.

  • ginamc

Aye and it helps to not even turn on the tv. I am SO SICK of all the carping, know it all idiots and their statements of “facts”…

I’ll second that one. No T.V. since Sunday. Just sick of the blow torches spewing their venom. I find it so strange that not a one of them have looked at themselves in the camera lens, and discovered how pathetic, small, and absurd they are. I frankly wonder how they can live with themselves.

I was on a conference call today (volunteers) with H. Ickes, and someone asked him if there was anything that he could do about the media’s overtly sexist, disparaging remarks. He said that they have tried repeatedly asking them to please tone it down. All requests are met with a deaf ear. He remarked that they somehow take some pleasure in smirking after their disgusting remarks.

Seems like they are more blatant with each passing day.

Obama supporters are tired of the politics of old, that’s why the turn to political up and comers like Teddy Kennedy.

But the mindless bots forget: Teddy was rejected by the country in presential elections, even more than Kerry. He’s also the most hated Dem in the GOP.

Teddy is the GOP whipping boy, and to think about it, Kerry and him both endorsed Obama (even against the voters will of MA — the Elitist pigs).

    …cracks knuckles…

Couldn’t have given the GOP more meat to bake, fry, roast, and BBQ Obama. And I will even enjoy adding some coals to the fire (sorry Dems, but Teddy I’ll never forgive for the 1980 loss that helped launch this Neo-Con invasion).

    Hillary Clinton’s Nuclear Option

What are the issues that could be included in the Nuclear Option? Here is a sampling:

    – Comb the archives of Trinity Church for a DVD that shows both Reverend Wright making yet one more of his offensively over-the-top statements … and showing Senator Obama in the congregation, listening to his preacher. Senator Obama skirted responsibility for Wright, in part, by claiming that “I never heard him say that.” Prove this defense wrong and it will not only tie Obama to Wright, but will paint him as a lying politician, and one not particularly adept at lying.

    – Comb sources for home video of a speech that Senator Obama gave in conjunction with unrepentant Weatherman domestic terrorist Bill Ayres, and in this way, tie Senator Obama more tightly to this radical who’s helped to kill Americans on American soil. Senator Obama has persuaded the media that he and Ayres are just neighbors, but video that would show them sharing a platform as allies could shake that excuse — and Obama’s credibility. With such a thin track record, the hope he is offering the Party and the American voters rests on a thin reed of credibility.

    – Assuming that Tony Rezko is found guilty in his fraud trial, find some way to pressure prosecutors to offer Tony Rezko a sentencing deal in exchange for offering incriminating testimony that will tie Senator Obama far more closely to this shady political fund-raiser (currently in the midst of a bribery trial). The Rezko story has been largely overlooked by the media. Few voters understand the nature of the Rezko/Obama connection. But this Chicago politics as usual story of sordid minor-league corruption will further shake the Senator’s image of electability.

    – Push forward another story that has been largely ignored by the media: Senator Obama’s radically permissive position favoring “birth control abortions,” on-demand, for minors, and his related view that babies, including his own future grandchildren, are “punishments.” As explained in American Thinker – one of the very few political media which even noted this statement – in late March, Senator Obama said:

“Look, I got two daughters – nine years old and six years old. I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”

This is a position that would prove widely unpopular among moderate “values” Democrats and most independents in a general election with a pro-life candidate, this issue could be a political deal-breaker.

    – Comb Senator Obama’s voting record in the Senate and in the Illinois legislature and find every issue he’s voted for (or against) that – if the vote were known – would make moderate Democrats and Independents uncomfortable with the Senator. Where possible, find video showing Senator Obama advocating these politically extreme or unpopular positions, making it hard for the Senator to deny that he was “in the pew” when those issues came up for consideration.

These five possibilites, along other issues that cast a bad light on Senator Obama, constitute Senator Clinton’s “nuclear option.” These issues have been largely ignored, minimized or “put to bed” by the national mainstream political media, including media opinion leaders ranging from the New York Times to CNN, MSNBC and the broadcast news networks. However, these same issues can be advanced by Clinton surrogates in a way that will force the media to take another look … and force the super delegates to re-think their ultimate choice.

That’s how it was (or should I say can be tomorrow) in the 60s with women. Hillary’s been through it all. Didn’t give up then when women were still suppose to be housewives, and she won’t take it now by Chicago pimps.

She’s a tough bird. The GOP couldn’t even cook her with a flamethrower. :)

“With a little help from her backstabbing friends. Uh, what a minute, she hasn’t lost the nomination just yet.”

Whatever happened to the good ole days of cronyism when people paid for favors with favors. I hate all this damn ‘voting for the most qualified’ crap. Its a fad. It’ll pass.

  • ChrisXP

I’m mixed. Part of me wants Obama to get the nomination so the GOP can tear him to shreds. But that will be betraying a sister in need. There’s thousands of races and ethnics groups, but only 2 genders — and one has been getting the short end of the stick since the dawn of time. That has no party, no color, that’s a sister breaking the last great glass ceiling.

If Obama gets nominated, I’m afraid I’ll have to leave here, since I’d probably offend every Dem in the process of unifying. He just can’t win in November, period.

  • ChrisXP

Probably sleeping. We were posting yesterday morning as it was. ;)

Then you would love my 80 yr. old friend — who does all of the old time favorites.

But she’s on the East Coast — and she is opening for the summer run at the end of this month.

She puts on a wonderful show — which takes you back to the days when song writers knew what they were doing!

By the way — she voted for Hillary!! As I knew she would!

I’d give details of where to hear her — but knowing the vicious and vile Obamabots — I dare not bring them to her door.

She does a lot of the Sinatra, Clooney stuff. Big Band era stuff (she played with some of the Big Bands).

My little doggie adored her — and would bark at the right spots — in How Much is that doggie in the window.

Yep — she just another Clinton supporter that Obama threw under the bus with the other Typical Old white women. Yet this white women toured in an “all girls band” — black band — and she passed as black — in both black and white clubs IN THE SOUTH — during the days of segregation. She she was sort of the female “black like me”.

I hope that Obama gets taken down for his faux claims of racism — he has done so much harm.

We’ve learned from the snObama crowd that the evil “social” movements don’t go away — they just go underground and change. The Black Panthers — and the Weather Underground — are two examples.

Posted this on the other thread: worth watching.

Posted news about Obama saying he has been to 57 states. Don’t see it up.

They are laughing about it at the Free Republic board and making jokes about him. Here’s one statement:

That’s very cute but John McCain has an association far worse than Jeremiah Wright and his name is… GEORGE W. BUSH! That’s what this election is going to be about. THE REAL ISSUES! People have seen all of these lame stories about Obama – And he’s right where he was before they all came out. It’s like Gennifer Flowers in ’92. That’s very cute but John McCain has an association far worse than Jeremiah Wright and his name is… GEORGE W. BUSH!

Who cares? Bush is leaving. McInsane is too weak to build unity anyway, even among conservatives — to the extent, we’re even here voting for Hillary.

The DNC sent me this overnight (in part)…

Everywhere John McCain goes his handlers are organizing fundraising receptions, catering to special interests and lobbyists. It’s straight out of the George Bush and Karl Rove playbook.

While our primary continues, we can’t afford to let John McCain and the Republican machine get a financial advantage. Help us and our nominee stay competitive.

    Thanks for your support.

    Phil Murphy

    No, I can’t support the DNC, and I won’t.

The DNC seems to have foisted a totally unelectable candidate on us for President. It has allowed states to run gang-style caucuses (as I witnessed in Texas) that were as fraudulent as any third-world “democratic” process I have ever seen. It has ARBITRARILY enforced rules about primaries, exceeding the punishment the rules mete out on some states (FL and MI), while not punishing other states (SC, NH, NV, MO?) resulting in a dramatic shift of votes for one candidate over another. That we would disenfranchise Florida (because of actions by the GOP controlled legislature) after what happened there 2000, is a deal breaker for me and the DNC.

Finally, DNC member Donna Brazille recently stated that people like me (older, white, mid-American) have no place in the future of the Democratic Party. If you don’t want me, don’t come asking for my money.

    Sincerely,
    Paul Summer

    Speaking of Mothers Day

Have all you Obamabots out there seen McCains’ Mother’s Day video on Youtube? It is an absolutely brilliant sly dig at Obama. The video is giving Obamaniacs including his media lapdogs like Olberman coniption fits. Because they dam well know if Obama gets the nomination they can expect more of this down the road.

I think what is really distressing the Obamabots is that that Mr HopeyChangey may have to run against a man who is actually unashamed, no actually down right proud, of the white woman who raised him. The McCain camp will want the public to get to know all about her. You know unlike the granny that Obama threw under a bus when it was politically convenient so he could defend momentarily the F’ing crazy racist charlatan he told the world was his spiritual advisor / surogate father.

If Obama does locked up the nomination, the Republicans are sure to bring up “Where is the white woman who raised you Obama?” You know the 87 year old grandma who now lives alone in Hawaii. The one your wife probably absolutely hates with a burning passion. The one you never told the congregation at Trinity United Church of Christ about. Yes, what about those nice white kumbaya Unitarian liberal grandparents who took you in and saw to it you went to a nice elite private prep school and had lots of social outlets and sports in order to keep you out of trouble when your mother basically abandoned you so she could spend 12 years selfishly working on her PhD. The grandma who 75% of your Black voter support knows nothing about.

Ah yes, Obama 08′ – Mr 35% of the electorate.

Please why can’t my fellow Democrats come to their senses and realize that if they can not stand Hillary, there is still the third option of also dumping a sure loser like Obama and drafting an Edwards or Gore.

But I guess the immature leftwing Obama supporting netroots secretly really want BombIran McCain in the White House so they can write snark for another four years and laugh among themselves.

    Happy Mother’s Day Obamabots

Hopefully you will find your own elderly white woman to ignore on her special day.

    SusanUnPC, 1/1/08:

I always begin my thinking about the presidency with the Supreme Court. Especially now, with such a delicate balance, and several rather old jurists. (Did a story on that a few months ago or so — and I listed their ages.)

It’s one issue that could get me to vote for the Democratic nominee, no matter who it is. I just pray that we get a highly experienced president who can be on the go the day after the election.

Not to mention some of us old coots remember how Teddy trashed Jimmy Carter and carried his fight for the nomination all the way to the convention, even though he had no chance by any math, and then turned his back on Carter when he was the winner. Many of us believed then and do to this day that Teddy was the reason Reagan won the GE.

If we remember things like that, is it likely that we will all “forgive and forget” the insults to us and our candidate and vote for Obama in November if he’s the nominee? Not damn likely.

I will never vote for McCain. That is an absolute no-no for this old lefty, but I will not vote for a piece of crap like Obama either.

I leave that to all the braindead, elitist little Obamacrats that have brought down and divided the Democratic Party. Some uniter!

  • kenoshaMarge

Try your lies where people don’t know better you poor idiot troll. She hasn’t reached the magic number and neither has he.

If you really are an Obama supporter then you would STFU and hope that just a small portion of the Hillary Clinton supporters will vote for your piece of crap candidate if and when he wins the primary. If you really care about the election and not getting attention you would shut up and try not to offend voters that your piece of crap candidate will need in a general election.

My vote is irrevocably lost. Others may not be. But keep pissing them off and with your premature victory lap and you’ll keep losing votes. Please, please keep doing what you’re doing. Because I have passed the point where I care if McCain does win just so long as Obama does not.

  • kenoshaMarge

Oh my, as if 8 years of “Bushisms” wasn’t enough, now the Nutwing of the Leftwing wants to saddle us with at least 4 years of “Obamaisms”, aka known as stupidity verbalization’s by Barack.

Last week the Obama campaign didn’t seem to know that the Great Lakes were not in Oregon. Now “the one” doesn’t know how many states there are, how the hell do you try and pass that off as “misspeaking”?

It is a really good thing that the media has been so in the tank for Obama as he ran his “flawless” campaign, otherwise all the stupid things he’s said, the bad company he keeps, and foot in mouth disease of his angry wife might have caused him some problems. But if and when he wins the nomination, or steals it as he’s trying to do, he find out what some really big guns aimed at him can do. And the Clinton campaign’s “kitchen sink” will seem like a spring breeze to a hurricane.

Then Whiny Obama and his band of crybabies will have something to cry about. And since they didn’t care when the media attacked my candidate, I will be sublimely indifferent when it does the same to him. Actually I will enjoy it immensely.

Just returned from vacation in southwest coastal Florida where we wore our Hillary buttons.

Many Hillary supporters spoke with us, several said they thought Kennedy was supporting Obama for ONE reason, the Kennedy wing of the party has been feuding with the Clinton’s for many years.

So kazoom……via the corporate and political pull of Kennedy the unelectable “noble leadership” candidate receives unprecedented funding, attention and lack of background check by the media.

Jealousy, revenge, sexism, corporate interests, wanting to destroy Bill Clinton the only successful democratic president in decades, whatever the reasons Kennedy has done this, his reputation has been irrecoverably damaged. He also is acting against the wishes of his constituency in Mass. who overwhelmingly voted for Clinton.

Because he needs to be spotted some points. They want to give them to him by giving him the delegates of the candidates in Michigan people voted for, when we all know and have the links to prove that “uncommitted” was mostly the obama block. Never write down something on the internet you don’t want the world to see. The rest of the people in Michigan actually picked somebody else and since they are out of the race, Obama thinks Michigan voters should Affirmative Action those votes over to him so he doesn’t lose too many delegates.

Barack Obama is so short on knowledge and substance, he doesn’t even know his health care plan is useless. He says that he isn’t going to “interfere with states” as if the states are going to do the magic hopey changey thing. Does he or the horse’s ass who put that plan together know that in many states, the legislators are in the back pocket of health care insurers? Does he know that some states forbid by law that their residents cross state lines to get health insurance cheaper? Not going to interfere with states’ rights eh?

Does he know that people who “can’t be forced” to be insured have to be paid for by the rest of us, thus driving up premiums? Does he even have a clue what a single pay health care policy costs? Does he not understand that the only way to force health care insurers to cut the crap is to regulate them or as a minimum force then to be not for profit? Does he even have a clue that his plan won’t change a thing unless health care insurers are forced to stop killing people for a stockholders’ bottom line?

Does he have any idea for example, that right here in my own county a single pay HMO that will kill you if you get sick, costs nearly $900 a month for one person, and close to $2k for a family? When he says he is going to” subsidize” this, how exactly is that going to drive the cost of insurance DOWN–for everybody. Or will we continue to force people to spend down their “assets”, also known as their own retirement savings to supplement themselves till they are broke at age 65? The health insurers won’t be lowering the premiums, they will just be having a nice party with federal tax dollars. They will be the next beneficiaries of the Giant Pilfer, just like the pharmaceutical and oil companies. And the coverage will still suck.

Barack Obama needs to go back to the drawing board and learn something about how health care works from state to state before he claims he can do this by waving his hopey changey wand across America and all the states will just swoon and comply and “drive down costs”. Because even as we piddle around on this board, people are dying for stockholders, and other people are going bankrupt due to catastrophic illnes even though they HAVE insurance. Fifty percent of bankruptcies last year were due to catastrophic illness, and most of those people WERE insured.

If you ask me, half the people I know and have worked with in my life would make better presidents than Barack Obama because he is woefully void of details and knowledge of the very problems he purports to know how to fix.

  • Mary

Well, of course you’re right, Uppity.

His arrogance in “announcing his victory” in May, and THEN “allowing” Florida and Michigan to be seated, will be the END of the Democratic Party’s chances.

It’s really incredible how arrogant his campaign and his supporters have been.

If this is his idea of “unity,” I want no part of it.

When I saw Wisconsin went to Obama, I went through the county break down. Grandma’s county — born, raised and died there — was one of the few that was for Hillary (a true blue-collared county). Thought Wisconsin flew the coup, as that wasn’t how I remembered it (more conservative than the South even, that stiff upper lip stuff and all), and the ladies being v-e-r-y self-sufficient — mom tells me of one of grandma’s friends, who BUILT houses even back in the 50s.

But Marge you renewed my faith that Wisconsin is still the state I remember from youth — populist, but not the victim capital of the world. Know my northern relatives could never accept Obama, he’s everything they taught me not to be.

    Amen.

Let them EARN your vote, by a candidate that can actually win and reflect your values. All anything a voter wants — a winner you can be proud of — not an endless train of losers.

LOL Larry! A “vent” thread, I love it.

My son, the Berkeley graduate was fading on Obama BUT has suddenly hit the koolaid again. He graduated with high honors and is BLIND to facts, his response is always the same whenever I point out yet another problem area or a blatant lie he says “Mom, they all lie.” and “He already won, Mom.” UGHRHRHGHGH
I have to change the subject because I get so pissed. He refuses to read anything negative about him and says he “just knows” Obama is the best choice.
Luckily I have 3 kids, sons, and 2 are Hillary all the way as is my husba but our family “brainiac” who got into Berkeley on a full scholarship is in the tank for Barack.
It just goes to show that smart people can do dumb things!
I had to tell him to stop saying Ayers was an” American Hero” in my presence. He has this glorified idea of what the 60′s were like and I think a LOT of younger people have the same illusion.
They actually think Barack is like JFK and honestly, the comparison makes me ill. You, Barack are NO JFK!!
He will never be President and I feel HE is damaging the Party and should drop out NOW.

  • ChrisXP

Despite his faults, McCain’s love for his mother is real. You can see it when he becomes embarassed, when a mother loves to talk about those little things that WILL embarass anyone in public (UGH!).

I also love my mom, too. The same mom these Obamatics called a “racist” for calling him OBABA (Japanese for granny). I’m like OBABA a Hapa, but I wouldn’t disown my dad’s side of the family anymore than mom’s. I’m proud of both heritages, having both Viking and Samurai blood through my veins (probably why I’m such a fighter!).

To diss your mom’s mom to fit in with another side of your heritage, in my view, is lower than dirt. Each side is who he is and can’t be taken away (or hidden as you can’t deny who you REALLY are), and the least he can do is honor both. As a Christian he claims to be, that’s what is taught, let alone about forgiveness.

Don’t know what planet he ventured too to be so unlike billions of others, but someone who wishes to cut off half his heritage, isn’t someone I can trust to be honest with even more public issues. Don’t want a hider for president, but one who can beam with pride of his roots — the same roots our mothers, and their mothers, gave us since the dawn of time.

That’s why we have a Mother’s Day — to honor our mothers, who often went without, to raise us to be strong, smart and a credit to our families and communities.

Give your moms an extra hug this Mother’s Day, too! :)

NYT today has Mccain going after Obama’s Hamas ties. There is NO WAY Obama can win the general.

  • ChrisXP

Many Hillary supporters spoke with us, several said they thought Kennedy was supporting Obama for ONE reason, the Kennedy wing of the party has been feuding with the Clinton’s for many years.

This is no secret, along with Carter, the Kennedy’s have a feud.

It’s claimed that when Carter was the President and during the Cuban boat crisis and the prison riot in Arkansas, Clinton (then Governor) asked Carter for federal help (since it was a federal prison) and Carter refused. It helped to defeat Clinton’s second bid for governor.

So I wasn’t surprised that Carter et al would support Obama over Clinton. It’s one of those Dem feuds that folks have to overlook — much like in our own families.

Kennedy wants another flamer in office, to show his west coast Lefties he’s “hip” with them. He trampled over Carter to even prove the point to gain their “street cred”.

It’s a mess, and one that doesn’t help the party.

  • llamajockey

I keep hoping and praying that Obama’s unsuitablity for the Presidency becomes obvious to everyone but the most delusional Obamabots, along with Ted Kennedy and John Kerry.

Please, Please somebody find the video of Obama with his arms around Bills Ayers and the Obamas sharing a drink with Ayers and Dohrn.

You know Alexrod knows his man is a stink bomb. Alexrod does not care because he has already achieve more than enough with Obama to seal his reputation as a political campaign guru.

  • ChrisXP

Not going to interfere with states’ rights eh?

Don’t touch that topic with a 10 foot pole, Uppity. Hillary is just now getting the God and Guns vote, State’s Rights is a MAJOR topic in the South, all the way back to the Young-Webster debates back in 1832.

It’s literal fighting words, and it split the country once already.

  • http:winthemarket.com Daryl

I’ll never forget him refusing to shake Carter’s hand at the convention. Carter literally followed him around the stage but Teddy would have none of it.

Now that’s ego. BTW did Teddy really endorse Obama because Hillary gave LBJ deserved credit for gettingthe CRA passed?

  • Darla

Jackie, I didn’t visit, but I live in Florida and am an active member of the community.

When you talk to people, at a fundraiser, school board meeting, at the church, you find out that that PEOPLE REALLY WANT TO HAVE A RE-VOTE IN FLORIDA, BECAUSE THOSE WHO VOTED FOR HILLARY CLINTON NOW REGRET IT.

And these are not ignorant college kids, but mature, realistic adults.

I was told to read this blogsite for ‘laughs’, but I am not laughing. The comments here are really sad and delusional, by people who don’t seem to have a life.

    :-(

  • ChrisXP

Ah, the peer challenge. One of those roadblocks parents face when the kids seeks out his own autonomy.

Approachs to get through the fog could be media (music and TV). Find some music that has some meaningful lyrics about seeing things through, etc (be creative) and keep playing it in the background. It has a poignant but subtle effect.

Mom has done this, and now I’m stuck with her Enka music running in my head (and I can’t even understand the language, but good tunes!).

They have a way to bring their kids around, in their own clever ways (OH, MOM!!!!!!!). ;)

The point is, you either control health care at the federal level or you fail. To expect states to just be nice and put their foot on health insurer’s throats is to be the poster boy for NAIVE. Which one of us wouldn’t kill to buy into Medicare at the senior rates. What about those states that will FORBID residents to buy into the “congressional health plan” he says he will make available without “interfering” with states ?I myself pay more for my health care insurance monthly than many people pay for their mortgages. Under his plan, nothing will change. It’s all hopey changey touchy feely crap.

  • http:winthemarket.com Daryl

A 48 state candidate whose win total includes at least 12 states that will go Republican in the fall cannot win the Presidency.

Potentially having 2.4 voters across two powerful swing states believing they got shafted is a politcal H-bomb for any party. That’s the kind of thing that can lose you control of Congress let alone the presidency.

  • Diane D-R

I’m another life-long Dem who is ready to leave the party altogether if Obama is the nominee. You cannot call a person who has been beaten and spat upon for being a “N*****-lover” a racist and expect her to vote for you. You cannot call a woman a “member of the dry pussy and neck-fold set” and expect her to vote for you. You cannot call someone “anti-American” and “anti-Democrat” for supporting her candidate of choice and then expect that someone to vote for you. You cannot tell someone you don’t need her vote to win and then expect her to vote for you.

The Democratic Party no longer represents my views. They didn’t stand up to George Bush or call for his impeachment. They broke their own rules about calendar moves to disenfranchise Florida and Michigan while letting four other states vote early. They have allowed Row v. Wade to be eroded away, and yet still hold the threat of a SCOTUS that will overturn it over my head. They want to foist an inexperienced, divisive, racist do-nothing candidate on me as the nominee.

No thanks. If Obama is the nominee, I will be cutting up my shiny new Democratic National Committee Member card and mailing the pieces back to the party along with a copy of my change of voter registration to Independent.

I was considering voting for Cynthia McKinney of the Green party in November, but I think that a protest write-in vote of Hillary Clinton’s name is the only thing that will get through their thick skulls.

Thanks for letting me vent. Now, I’m going to have brunch and then I’ll spend the afternoon calling WV to GOTV. Maybe a 40% victory will give the SuperD’s the wake-up call they need before we, the disaffected party members, “go nuclear” in November, and McCain strolls into the White House.

Remember when McCain was asked “How do we stop the bitch?” because Republicans know they will lose to her? How sad if they don’t have to stop her because her own party does it for them.

  • http://Whosturnisit? TeakWoodKite

That was my opinion as well, but considering the utter lack of understanding BO has displayed regarding the Constitution of the United States, I could not vote for him on that basis.

  • ChrisXP

WTF he’s never lead anything in his life. Oh wait he was pres of the Harvard Lampoon and that foundation Ayers hired him to lead.

Teddy was EXPELLED from Harvard in 1951 for CHEATING on an Spanish exam.

That’s our “great” Teddy, starting off to a fine start in politics.

This is the Dem leadership. This his how and why there’s only been 5 Dem presidents (Truman/Kennedy/Johnson/Carter/Clinton) in 50 years — as they can’t pick the very candidate that CAN WIN!

  • Kathy

I voted for Hillary in Florida, so did my husband. We don’t want anyone else for president.

  • ChrisXP

Which one of us wouldn’t kill to buy into Medicare at the senior rates.

We couldn’t, Social Security would go bankrupt — it’ll start running on empty in 2020.

Robbing other services to pay for it — or taxing folks the rate Europe does — is a guarantee to have one of those Boston tea parties and Civil War divisions together.

There’s no free lunch. It has to be paid for, or taxed, and the public will only tolerate a tax threshold only so high without revolting.

Ah, the issues which we’re not getting to in this campaign, while Barry sucks the oxygen from the room. :sigh:

  • ChrisXP

Remember when McCain was asked “How do we stop the bitch?” because Republicans know they will lose to her? How sad if they don’t have to stop her because her own party does it for them.

    So true.

Just wish Dems would stay in and the moderates seize control over the children and Ted. If they could do that, and conservatives boot the Neo-Cons out of the GOP — FINALLY — we can get to business in Washington with a CAN DO GOVERNMENT!

  • s. hall

    Great video. Brilliant.

  • s. hall

I think what the plan is Obama will sit this week out and on the 20th of May when he believes he will win in Oregon declare he is the nominee. They don’t call him Back Door BO for nothing.

  • Strawberrybitch

This is where we part company Chris. I have family in Europe. They make a whole lot less money than we do and their standard of living is MUCH, MUCH better than ours. We’re college educated, up to our eye balls in college loan debt, have “great health insurance” which won’t pay for my much needed back surgey (I’ve been waiting two years so far and can’t get pain meds because of fear I’ll become addicted)and have little or no retirement because of catastrophic medical problems. My cousin, is a single mother, who works full time (30 hours a week)at a small retail shop. Has better healthcare for her and her little girl, has full time day care (her daughter is 3 and speaks both german and english) has no need of a car because public tranportation is the bomb over there (have you ever tried to find parking in Europe?) Has full retirement benefits and even has enough money at her 8 dollar an hour job to take two vacations a year to come to the states to visit me. My Aunt just had her hip replaced and yeah she had to wait…6 weeks, but got to stay in the hospital a whole month, had on site physical therapy and a mini bar complete with BEER in her room. Not one penny out of pocket. And her new hip is state of the art, we don’t have that technology here yet, because it was invented in Switzerland. So yeah, she pays a little more in taxes, (not much) but the return on her investment is MUCH better.

  • s. hall

John Smart — Obama’s enemy is the rotten economy and the fact that he chose to base his campaign on two volitile groups like the youth and the AA’s. With the economy in free fall and the demands by AA’s for more power — and the youth who might be drafted to fight 2 hot wars, I think Obama will have his hands full. Add to that the Democratic Party thinking they can win without their reliable base or the 30% voters who label themselves Hispanic. I see a train wreck of massive proportions.

  • s. hall

LOLOLOLOL yes Teddy Kennedy there’s a rock star the youth can look up to.

  • s. hall

The problem for the Bigwigs in the Democratic Party is that Hillary would like to see full employment. She would like this country to go green and create millions of jobs and she would like healthcare for all Americans. Its like the Republicans and Roe v Wade. Healthcare for all Americans is just a talking point. The Democrats have held Congress for most of the last 60 years and they did nothing.

I hope and pray that Hillary will realize we need a viable third party. The parties right now are two sides of the same coin. I have been told this for years but I resisted because I was so firmly planted in the Democratic Party of FDR. I thought why isn’t Kerry a populist–its the way you win. Well now I believe the Democrats don’t want to win. If they did they would all be fighting to support Hillary instead of standing firmly with a man who by his own words stated he hates white people and is doing his best to divide this nation along racial lines.

  • s. hall

Obama cannot win the vote of white blue collar workers no can he win Hispanics. He cannot win states which hold primaries and where he can’t bus people in to vote. Obama has marginalized himself as a black candidate and now white voters are turning against him. Multiply that in the GE and he is a cooked goose.

  • s. hall

John — Hillary hold’s Bobby Kennedy’s seat in the Senate. Its been 40 years since he died and I thought she would do this for Bobby. Bobby’s kids are still routed in populism. I love Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Bobby Kennedy Jr.

  • s. hall

typical — I don’t know how Hillary wakes up everyday and thinks about all the people she has worked with or helped who have thrown her under a bus, but this is what I love about her. She is not vindictive — she keeps her eyes on the prize and doesn’t let this get in her way. I can see where its hurting Bill though. He could take it when it was about him but when it hurts her — it destroys him. I love that family. They have run this campaign with grace and dignity. I pray everyday that she will be our nominee. With Hillary its about us…..

  • beebop

    Jack, jack, jack …

Even with the final primaries, neither of them will have enough delegates to — as you so quaintly put it — be “elected” the democratic nominee.

Then there is that pesky General Election which is where he is UNELECTABLE. Try to stay focused. I know that when you are new to politics, there are lots and lots of new terms. But there are primaries and there is a General Election. In a General Election, the party nominee runs against the other party. No caucuses and no super paid off delegates. One man/woman. One vote (and then the electoral college). And he is not going to win. It is math.

  • s. hall

One other issue which is a deal breaker for Obama and which has only been covered superficially by Hannity and not at all by other media outlets is his belief in Black Liberation Theology which he shares with Wright. Basically Black Theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified with the goals of the black community. But there is so much more to it. And so say its a radical way of thinking for a man who wants to be President of the US is an understatement.

  • s. hall

I guess she should have bussed supporters into Iowa. She should have run an ad — Be a Democrat for a Day and she should have played the race card. I guess she should also come out and declare herself the winner of the nomination the way Obama is going to do without enough delegates to support his claim.

  • s. hall

kenosha marge — you mean you don’t want a candidate whose wife said she would scratch former President Bill Clinton’s eyes out. Picky Picky. ^5

Right. Red Queen, over at http://elizabitchez.blogspot.com/, has a great post on this, starting with:

My Uterus Will Not Be Held Hostage

So the cry from the Blogger Boyz and their cronies to those of us who refuse to drink the koolaid and bow to the Precious is “What about Roe! What about the Supreme Court!”

Fuck you. Seriously. I don’t like it when Rethuglikan boyz try to control my behavior with threats to my bodily autonomy, why on earth would you think it’s okay coming from you.

Really it is two halves of the same coin. Don’t be a slutty whore or you’ll get punished with an unwanted pregnancy on one side and don’t be a slutty Hillary voter or you’ll get punished with an unwanted Supreme Court on the other.

Read the whole thing, you wont regret it!

  • s. hall

Just remember that Teddy doesn’t exactly have a great track record when it comes to who he endorses. He pulled out all the stops for the 2004 loser John Kerry too.

  • s. hall

How can both sides of the isle deny healthcare to all Americans when its the American people who pay for their coverage?

In 1994 Teddy Kennedy said he didn’t know that Healthcare was such a priority in this country and he was going to do something about it. How long had he been in the Senate then and he had no idea that healthcare was such a priority? — well 14 years later I have seen nothing from Kennedy with regard to healthcare for all Americans. But he says that Hillary cannot be VP because she has no leadership skills. OH RIIIIIIIIIGHT

  • Lisa v

That’s awesome that this is posted here :)

Let’s spread the word Obama is unelectable…

  • NewOrleans

Yes, it is a great video.

But one of the whiny bitches from Crooks And Liars added this message:

Barack Obama is so unelectable, that he got more votes the woman who thinks shes more electable.

Some of the supporters of The Precious are so pathetic.

  • Andy

Darla, your comment shows who is delusional; pretty pathetic really. You obviously do not read nor understand polls.
HRC wins by a larger margin in FL today than in January. You know a few folks that think differently?Okay, so? That’s hardly a measure of anything and (now you made me laugh!!) hardly scientific.

Darla, it is useful to think and at least try to be informed before writing a comment.

  • Andy

    Thank you !! The video and song are excellent;
and more importantly so true: Obama is unelectable!

SusanUnPC is right; you do have an amazing voice.

  • Centrocitta

From what I’m reading and hearing about Jenna’s wedding in Crawford, it all sounds pretty tacky to me. Just like her father’s administration has been for the past eight years. Tacky and low class.
