No Nancy will get by with the CIA comment and lie. Obama and the dems will sweep this under the rug. The left news media will allow it to happen…
The repubs will not be relentless like the dems would if the shoe was on the other foot. That kind of repub thinking is why the dems are in the majority now. If anything happens the CIA will leak some kind of scandal on her. That is if Panetta has any balls.

The thing that bothers me is many human rights groups were screaming about this 5 year ago. None of them should sit up there and say they had no idea it was happening. They were all petitioned, sent letters on it. John McCain started screaming about it in 2003.

Everyone keeps saying these were secretive meetings she couldn’t talk about. BS, someone must have forgotten to inform McCain of such things, because he screamed. He also got several others on both sides to join him in drafting a bill against it. If he was talking about it then, it let her off the hook, she was free to speak out loud and clear. He’d already blown the lid off it. Yet she said/did nothing.

I saw somewhere in a blog the folks there were calling her the “San Francisco Treat”. I don’t have any idea why that seemed funny to me at the time. I think because she has become sort of an American anti-icon.. something like an inverse statue of liberty. Not with a graceful patina, but instead with a smarmy waxen smile.

Ah – a reminder of the destroyed videotapes. I’m not in intelligence – merely the entertainment business – but I have backups of everything. And all videotapes are now on DVDs and hard drives. Every so often we back up again on new media.
I find it very hard to believe that there were no copies or backups made on these videotapes. It has always bothered me. These days you can compress and back up stuff on flash drives that are on your key chain. I’m sure the CIA has even tinier stuff. Does everyone believe that there is no trace anywhere of this stuff?

I consider that an accurate statement:

We know that support for the invasion of Iraq was built on misstatements, half-truths, administrative disregard for inconvenient information gathered by our intelligence agencies, and deliberate lies.

We know high-placed people in the Bush administration broke the law. (The outing of Valerie Plame immediately comes to mind, along with illegal wiretapping. How many Executive Orders circumvented the Constitution?)

What about the destruction of nearly 100 waterboarding videotapes? Wasn’t that the deliberate destruction of evidence, undertaken when the torture issue became public? No one can tell me that transcripts of interrogation sessions have as much value to intelligence analysts as video tapes. From an intelligence perspective this was counter-productive. So there was clearly some overriding motive.
