I don’t include good and reasonable Clinton supporters such as Trix and others in this thank you. But for Jerome Armstrong and others who insisted on making statements such as “He is unelectable”, thank you. You managed to create an atmosphere of hate so great that many good Clinton supporters, Super Delegates and voters could take no more.

Now watch “Hope” win the nomination, win the general, and bring this nation together, without absorbing or condoning such destructive behavior.

I left my beloved DU after 7 years because of the constant and vicious attacks on me by the OBama supporters… and this was earlier in the primary, when John Edwards and everyone else was still in there. The Clinton supporters did NOTHING to deserve that treatment, but the Ohbama supporters came out swining.

The Edwards supporters, I’d noted, were always pretty positive, the Hillary supporters were mostly positive, but after so many attacks some began sticking up for themselves. Most of us just left. DU was my sanity when Bush was innagurated instead of Gore, and they got me through 9/11, and many other tragedies around the world. We’d celebrated births and good news, and we rallied around each other during the deaths of some DU members. I was sick to see I was no longer welcome there..

I was really suprised to see DU turn into a place where only around 50% of the registered Democrats are welcome. When you consider just how man “new” Democrats Obama has brought to the table, it’s even less then that.

Which makes me really wonder just why these “new” Democrats are somehow more important then those of us that have been Democrats for years. Where have these new people been? What took them so long to become Democrats? Where were they in the build up to the 2004 Presidential election? Maybe if some of these Kool-Aid drinkers had gotten off the fence and helped us elect an electable candidate then, we wouldn’t have gotten stuck with Kerry.

ME TOO. I have been a member of DU since they started after the 2000 election theft. I probably know you.:) I’m here under a different screen name. I see flyarm and fooj are here too! I’ve known them both for YEARS.

I had to leave. I knew some people there were radicals, but they usually hung out in the I/P dark hole dungeon most of the time. I never thought I’d see the day that Skinner would allow the Obamarhoids to take it over. I’m finished with DU until Hillary wins the nimination and then I MAY go back to rub it in their faces.:)

That same assumption gave us Tricky Dicky, did it not? People were tired of riots and unrest. Many of the voters that Obama would need if he were the nominee are people, like myself, who are old enough to remember those days. And we don’t want a repeat. Especially over a candidate that we don’t support or like.

I wonder that I stayed a Democrat for as long as I did. I don’t usually care much for people that are corrupt, lack integrity, and whose only real talent is for losing elections. (Except for that evil Bill Clinton of course. The only two term Democrat in the last 40 years.)

WCA, I realized over the weekend that if I DON’T vote for McCain, Obama might be president. I must have seen that reasoning before, probably a lot, but it didn’t actually hit me until a couple of days ago.

I have to ask myself, and I am, or used to be, a yellow dog Democrat: Am I willing to risk Obama getting into office?

I agree. If Hillary is not the Democratic nominee there is no reason for myself and family to be Democrats any more. This isn’t said out of spite or anger, it is said in the same way Republicans say that they didn’t leave their party, their party left them. Obama and his faux motivation-speaker persona is so obviously unqualified that I can’t believe the leaders of any party could be so dumb and I really don’t want to be associated with jaw-droppingly stupid people.

Well said, John Smart. My choice of Hillary for President is based on my detached judgment and yet Obama supporters seem to take it as a personal affront. When I think of the wingnut mob that descended on the Florida recount, and then compare the leftwingnuts at DKos descending on any Hillary supporter posting there, I see little difference.

When I see the media willfully trashing Clinton for any little verbal gaffe and letting Obama slide for same (57 states, etc), I see the same media that trashed Gore to promote our current President FlightSuit.

Frank Rich, Maureen Dowd, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, Markos Moulitsos, Arianna Huffington, Josh Marshall: ALL of them trashed the Clintons in the 90′s, effusively praised George W. Bush over Al Gore, enthusiastically supported the Iraq invasion and bashed anyone who disagreed.

Why anyone would trust their judgement NOW is a wonder to me.

cc the Average American does not get that involved in politics. They watch and they judge based on their own best interests, values and opinions. Then they pick what they often perceive is the less of two evils. Then they go to the polls. The next day, they get up and go to work. Some things scare them and drive them away. The average 19 year old does not perceive the same way the average 40 year old does. They put a stop to absurdity because they are adults and that is what adults reflexively do. They are also a lot quieter than their kids are, but one this is for sure: they vote. And when they do, they vote against that which scares them, however you want to analyze it. I hate to tell the writer of that article but the Kool Aid doesn’t work over here. I’ve been around the Democratic Party for a LOOONG time/get around to a lot of Clinton fundraisers. I can tell you that the Obamanots are going to be in for a BIGGG surprise if they think that a huge majority of Clinton supporters will coalesce around Obama if he’s the nominee. I’m not quite sure what planet they live on but I will give them a one word answer… MCGOVERN! The man was handed his ass on a plate and I am sure that it’s going to repeat itself this year. The article is so mixed. Taylor Marsh has a very pro-Hillary group who over-react like a gang. They interact with each other via comments, and go behind the blog to each other to create a 2 (or more)-against-1 bully campaign. They consistently run off solid Hillary supporters just because they suggest they calm down and think before they act. They had huge posts providing email addresses to all the SD’s, and then they’d post their rabid email message to them and get kudos from their fellow gang members. It is awful to see Hillary supporters behaving so badly. It doesn’t take much to get the media, and the Obama supporters to point out the worst of the Clinton campaign, and they just keep handing them embarrassing proof.

Today Taylor put up a post on the subject of civil discussions and her bigger bully group instantly started listing their excuses and entitlements followed by encouraging behind the scenes communications claiming they were being kicked off the site for bad behavior and needing to figure out where to go. Must be embarrassing for Taylor who is so clearly civil and democratic.

i have never seen it. I’ve been on here faithfully, and on Taylor Marsh often. When someone goes there with anything close to that, I know that I shudder and ignore the person. Frankly, when I see any supposed Hillary supporter using any offensive terms, I just assume they’re either republicans or obamabots trying to make us look bad. But no.. Me too. Secretly, I was very impressed with his 04 convention speech. I started out thinking he was the cat’s ass. I remember being polled by Zogby and choosing him. But his rallies took on a very strange flavor. The same chants. The same vapid speeches with the catchy phrases. Reminded me of the Youth Movement of another time. It started to frighten me. I have to admit, the Obama writer really brought out the giggles in me. I know he was trying to be serious, but it had more of the Robin Williams effect. When he said, “Now watch “Hope” win the nomination, win the general, and bring this nation together, without absorbing or condoning such destructive behavior.” — I thought, “Okay, did this guy really not know his entire post was destructive behavior????” Because if he didn’t, he might also be using his stick deoderant for lip balm.

He reminds me so much of one of those evil aliens in a sci-fi flick. You know the type. At the very end of the movie, he holds out his hands like Jesus and says, “We have conquered you!” Afterwards, he looks straight into the camera and gives an evil, sneering laugh. And then POW! And as Susan said, the “coarsening” of our society. Back in ’72, we didn’t have a daily catalogue of sex, lies and videotape to fill our days and brains (TV was also educational — remember shows like “The Brady Bunch”; “Gilligan’s Island” and even “Batman” — heck, even the “The Carol Burnett Show”? All taught a form of morals/ethics for the kids, and our parents watched it with us). We could also leave our front doors unlocked, and kids could’ve played outside without their parents watching them like hawks, so some child molester wouldn’t snatch them.

That’s what happens when a society is TOO free; and not instilling some type of societal values; and teaching folks consequences of their actions. We have more money and services, but at the expense we can be murdered trying to gain them, by some teen thugs who watched 31 flavors of porn or, heck HBO, all night for years without a parent in sight (who probably was sexually abused by a peer on the playground, because that kid also got to watch 31 flavors of porn or, heck HBO……).

Society went from Puritan to heathen in a period of 40 years. Now it needs to get back to somewhere between the two, so we can have some semblence of decency (10 year-olds sexually abusing peers, and in public, is a new low, folks. It just didn’t “happen”, kids have to be TAUGHT such things).

Despite the environment Hillary grew up in, in the late 60s and 70s, she at least didn’t raise a Britney. To me how parent’s kids turn up, is an true indicator of who they are, and their own personal mores. I’m also sure elders look at Chelsea and see, “Yep, Hillary did a good job.” (a miracle, considering the schedule of these politicians, and even Bill’s escapades).

Media is but a vehicle for educating the masses. If it’s used to coarsen it, the result is a generation of Obamatics who think Obama is some “American Idol” (where’s that crass judge when we need him????).

I think the media are responsible for a large part of this disagreement. They coddled Obama and when they did choose to criticize him it was about what Wright said not what Obama said. They make it about personalities rather than the problems this country faces today.
I heard actual news reports on Friday that Clinton was quitting. This was hours after she gave a press conference saying the opposite. Actions like this, by the media, tend to lead to misunderstandings. I think that’s their role during this election.
To Obama supporters who liken us to Maoists they need to study a little history.
When you advocate “purging” people from the “party” because they don’t agree with you that is the essence of Maoism. Saying you’ll vote for a candidate of another party is not. So pot meet kettle.

With all due respect, I don’t think the internet is 75% of the problem—although it is a good portion of it. I’ve been heavily involved in politics for 35 years, and I’ve never seen news anchors and journalists act in such an unprofessional and biased way as I have this past election. I gave up watching TV because almost all the hosts and panelists on the major talk shows are Obama fans. They don’t try to hide it, and what’s sad is that they’re not even embarrassed by their lack of integrity and honor. It’s certainly clear why Bush was able to get away with everything he did. There’s not been any media or journalistic integrity and oversight around for a long time. —Except of course for Helen Thomas and maybe a few others.

It’s a symptom of the disease called: tabloidism.

Once TV news switched to that format in the late 90s, it’s been downhill since.

They threw Dan Rather under the bus, because he wasn’t “hip”. He was a serious reporter, in an age where you have to smile and be “happy, happy” (or be like that old sour puss, Caffety — that “kewl” brand of quips that tarty kids use today).

I’m just waiting for the cheers of “Jerry!! Jerry!!” when pundits start throwing chairs and get into fisticuff over issues they’re “discussing”. Heck, even between co-anchors.

Unchecked behavior, brings us to this point. But do Dems have any stomach to address the social issues of checking such freedom, and revisiting some old skeletons?

1. The DNC. Dean and his cohort Pelosi. They could have and should have ended this primary season in February. Declared Hillary the nominee.
It would have given Obama the exposure he needed for people to be thinking about him down the road. When he has more time in the Senate. Now, all of these months later – I know more about him than I ever cared to know about anyone. I will never vote for him.
It is too bad but the reality is that lines have been drawn by both camps. Not just on Hillary’s side.
(If Howard Dean/Nancy Pelosi hate Hillary that much, they should have the balls to say so).

2. The DNC process. If they had a lick of sense. They would have changed the way they go about choosing a candidate. Screw the will of the people. We are going to let someone have the equivalent of thousands of votes – to override your will.

3. Obama. He could have and should have stopped his followers/testifiers from the 24/7 swarm on the internet. He did not. He said that he wasn’t going to run. Yet, he did. He should have waited. He does not have the experience. As a result of that, questions about his rise, his associates, his friends – have all emerged. He should have dropped out of the race. He did not.

As a side note – the voters who are left out of this race are those who work and take care of their families who do not have the time to blog. Who are just trying to keep from drowning.

4. The media. I have never seen such slanted “news” by so many in my life. They continue to treat Obama like he is the golden one. It is really quite disturbing to see how they fawn all over him. It’s not just the news networks. I checked out many of the so-called “democrat” “blue” websites. They might as well change their names…

Hillary needs us in her corner. In spite of a continuous upHILL battle, she has managed to win most key states needed in the GE. She IS the stronger candidate. She is the one who needs to be the nominee. She is the more moderate Democrat. Many who have previously voted Republican, are in Hillary’s corner. Many who are independents are in Hillary’s corner.
If the DNC screws this up and gives the nomination to Obama, they deserve to lose what would have been the easiest election in history to win.

The messages that were sent to a small number superdelegates by an even smaller group of Hillary supporters were their honest opinions. The threats of these Democrats to vote for John McCain were real, but instead of addressing the valid reasons why these loyal Democrats felt the way they did, apparently some closeted, Barack-supporting superdelegate took political advantage of the Clinton supporter’s comments to try to embarrass the Clinton campaign.

BTW, I do believe it is an attempt at an internal coup. IMO, the comments by Brazile were a slip-up in her anger–we weren’t supposed to know that we were being told to go to the back of the bus and stay there, at least not until November. However, now that the plan is out there, you have people like Chris Bowers and Matt Stoller extolling the virtues of the new, neo-Libertarian party, formerly known as the Democrats. IMO, most of the people supporting Obama on the internet are just useful idiots. They’re caught up in a popular “movement” and are in a state of extreme denial about Obama’s actual positions and actual chances of winning in November. These people are to the left of the majority of the country, and even the majority of democrats. Hell, they’re to the left of Obama… But Obama is a blank screen, so they can continue with their delusions. Obama wouldn’t have it any other way.

This whole thing reminds me a lot of what happened when Bush JR and his band of neocons took over the republican party. The moderates put up a good fight, but were ultimately defeated. CHICAGO (FinalCall.com) – There?s a certain moment in time, that if leaders have the wisdom to see and seize it, they can make a historic turn in the lives of their people. Such a moment was the July 26 summit on reparations, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan said as he opened the meeting held at the Salaam Restaurant.
Nearly 50 activists from across the country answered the call to discuss operational unity and a consolidation of efforts, in order to enhance and fortify the movement for reparations for Black people?s suffering in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

“The principle of reparations is the one great principle that we all can unite around,” Min. Farrakhan stated in his opening remarks. “Religion has not united us. Politics has not united us. Our economic needs have not united us. Our Blackness has not united us.

“But in the principle of reparations, all of us have a stake in it and see the value of it and know that if we unite today on the basis of reparations, then our children and our children?s children can be the beneficiaries of what happens today and from this day forward.”

Gathered together in the Ashanti practice of the principle of consensus, the “big sitting-down”?or ndaba, as the South African Nguni call it?was the fruition of the vision of Dr. Conrad Worrill, the national chairman of the National Black United Front (NBUF).

Representing Trinity Church and its pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Dr. Iva Carruthers spoke of equipping ministers beyond worship, and enabling them to effectively network, empower people and impact policy. Within the next year, she intends on working with over 400 preachers, with a focus on connecting theology, technology and transnational public advocacy. She termed it: “intentional communication.”

Much of the consolidated case is based on human rights precedents of crimes against humanity, but another strong component of the legal argument is consumer protection law. This will enable the litigation team to challenge the companies on the basis of their lying to the public in denials that they have no connection to the slavery, because the team has gained possession of documents that show the companies? involvement.

Since the consolidated lawsuits are set for a Chicago courthouse, Attorney Lionel Jean Baptiste, who is representing a Chicago plaintiff, has been thrust to the forefront of the legal team. However, he cautioned the summit that the legal battle cannot stand alone in the fight for reparations.

“We understand that we are in an arena that has been set up by the slave master,” he said, “We will not win in that arena, unless we step it up in the streets, unless the political fight is brought to bear.”

I must point out, though, that Wry is correct: braveheartdc, the responder making the Mao comparison to the Obama supporter calling for a party purge, meant this as a serious criticism of the purge talk. It’s an excellent point; I’m amazed at the fortitude of folks like braveheartdc at DKos. If you look at his/her posting history, you’ll see this makes more sense.

I’m not a big fan of Hillary, but Bill wasn’t bad for domestic policy (omitting Waco and BK reform), and that means he had a lot of positives for someone like me to forgive those evils. Hillary plays ball like Bill and she’ll tackle the nation’s economy the same as her husband did and I’m agreeable to that.

I’m not to kosher how Waco and Ruby Ridge was handled; nor the idea of more taxes (big government, taxes and socialism seems to go hand-in-hand with Liberals), but look at our choices. :/

Ron Paul couldn’t get elected as Ross Perot couldn’t, because the country is divided between two main political parties. It’s like asking folks to stop drinking and going to bars, they won’t, they’ll continue with the same-o same-o, and just relabel each other’s fire as their own — Obama stealing Bush’s rhetoric about “unity” and “compassion”, while actually doing the direct opposite. Obama makes the “Animal Farm” look like “Charlotte’s Web”.

But our lot is between these three. More war and Neo-Con Empire building; an empty suit with a cracked Bell jar, who’s groupies think “unity” and “compassion” is to make the Watts riots look like a Boy Scout jamboree; and Hillary, with Bill in tow (Bill is indeed Hillary’s “ball and chain”, and her biggest liability with the GOP).

Yeah, the picks aren’t the best, but out of the three, Hillary is the only one that won’t destroy this country. To me, it’s country first, even if I have to vote for a Dem, to save it from barbarians at the gate.
