In his book, Marching Toward Hell, Scheuer states that Bill Clinton had more than half a dozen chances to capture or kill Bin Laden based on solid intelligence. However, he passed them up, and then after 9/11 lied on national television (again, remember his “sexual relations” lie?) saying that he took every chance to take him out. If you ask me, I believe Scheuer’s account and don’t believe Clinton’s.

As far as I am concerned the only difference between the Obama and the Bush administration is one has a smile while the other one smirked.

That One has a better tan, too. In either instance, the differences are merely superficial.

Ok,good post. BUT lets be honest about what Scheuer said in the quote you used to conclude your point.

What he said is that our policies in the middle east are crazy, but if we insist on continuing down this path, we should do everything possible to win.

That opinion may not be correct, but lets at least be honest and argue about what he ACTUALLY SAID.

He said:

“Again, this sort of bloody-minded is neither admirable nor desirable, but it will remain America’s only option so long as she stands by her failed policies toward the Muslim world.”

And you immediately say “according to what he has written, sees no problem with the slaughter of women and children simply because they are muslims.”

It is arguable whether or not you need to know Arabic to see the flaws in pussyfooting around Afhanistan with no endgame in sight. But shouldn’t you first master basic English comprehension before turning your guns on those who aren’t bilingual?

Although Scheuer’s comments indeed seem strange and racially tinged, he does seem to be making a point (out of frustration). The point is one that all honest observers of this election can see clearly. Obama is naive and inexperienced and the only thing that has shielded him from serious criticism (so far)is his race. Scheuer seems to think that some are following a naive Wilsonian just because he is new and exciting because of….his pigment. You did see CNN on inauguration day right? It was ALL ABOUT RACE!

I had read about Mike Scheuer in a Canadian magazine and was going to buy his book “Imperial Hubris–Losing the War on Terror”(?) Not now! I’ve read more on this monkey and believe that Scheuer is just a pompous, self-important poseur who falsifies his background information and based on his expertise (not counterinsurgency!) he could not possibly write a book that would belong to a category other than “Fiction”–and I’d rather read a good Sherlock Holmes story. His bravado approach and macho views of “demolishing” the muslims–Love them or Kill them–does not appeal to any rational person who wants to understand intelligence work and how enemies are classified. Glad to have saved a few bucks and not needing to read his drivel. Thanks, Larry!
