Really, the GOP can pile on her all they want, Hispanics are the swing vote and the future’s majority, cry about her nationality in front of latin Americans. A bit more of it and not even the Catholic Church can shape their votes enough for it to matter.

As if none white men have never started a war in which millions have died, in which women have been kidnapped, raped and part of the spoils. World history is replete with examples. Or how about war engagements by women leaders….

But war aside, there have been many social struggles throughout history carried out by white men or in which white men participated that have advanced the status of all. History is replete with these too.

hey WHITE MAN: we as Latinos, “minorities,” have reached the point that we can defend ourselves.

in other words, racial inequality in the form of white male privelege should be combated with more racial inequality in the form of white male paternalism towards women and minorities?

besides which, if anyone believes Sotomayor is “stupid” because she’s a woman or a Puerto Rican, then they are merely judging her on her OWN racialist judicial perspectives.

attacking Sotomayor as less-qualified because of her gender or race is EXACTLY what Sotomayor did back in 20001 when she claimed that Latinas would make “better decisions” from the bench than white males…

There’s nothing particularly profound in her past decisions. She’s been a judge a long time. That’s opposed to people like Judge Wood on the 7th Circuit and she was viewed as a real intellectual powerhouse. You really can’t read the opinions of this nominee and say, “Oh yeah, this person is a natural choice for the Supreme Court.”

And she is a racist. If a white man said that at the end of the day I believe a white man will make a better decision than any latino woman he would be on banned from the planet. Also that quote of hers was in her prepared text. That is the way she feels and she made decisions based on that.

She will get confirmed but she will be effectively exposed before the vote. There were far more qualified women who Obama could have selected. He did this to secure his latino vote (and for Dem running in NYS in ’10). He also knew the the GOP would not heavily challenge it.

Her decisions and bio on the facts can be found on SCOTUSblog.com but listening to the GOP noise machine’s talking points on Sotomayor are shameful.

There is a difference regarding respectful questioning of her decisions on the facts, or distorting her record to create political talking points and slurs.

While she is a very intelligent woman, I have a problem with some of her extreme views she has stated in the past.

I am sure she will get confirmed but not before her bad statements are repeated over and over and over again.
