This isn’t simply blind partisanship, rjj. There are fundamental differences between the parties’ policies, especially in the foreign policy arena. Coupla examples may help:

Both demo candidates are committed to getting American troops the hell out of Iraq, inasmuch as they are creating more problems there than they are solving. McCain , like Dubya, has no such desire, instead saying he wants to “win” the war. It’s difficult to understand what exactly would constitute a win for him. Everybody in Iraq dead or something; I really don’t know and it’d be nice if a reporter would ask him. I won’t hold my breath waiting.

Both demo candidates are of the opinion that countries which threaten the safety or security of the world at large should be approached through diplomatic means. In other words, we should try to talk out the problem, as kindergarten teachers have always counseled. McCain is of the bizarre opinion, again, like Dubya, that talking to them is, de facto, “appeasement.” So I guess his answer to this sort of dilemma would be the same as Dubya’s.

If that is what you want, then by all means vote for McCain. Hillary wouldn’t do it, and neither would Obama.
