But I’m not seeing it that black and white, Elise. I’m not saying that her choice is to praise or to condemn. I’m wondering why she can’t find a place in the middle, where she talks about her job without having to do a PR commercial for BO. I hadn’t thought of what Scout said, though, so maybe that’s it. Although, if Hillary ever does break away (not to stop being a dem), they will hold all her platitudes for BO against her, and say she is politicking.

Thank you for this piece Larry and for your usual incisive analysis that I have come to rely on to stay sane during these insanely troubled times.

It is so beyond disgusting that Barack Hussein Obama would suggest Arab nations provide any opportunity at all to women, never mind as much as the U.S. Deplorable in every way. So, being laid on a table and cut as a girl, being imprisoned in your home, and being murdered (“honor” killing) for being with a man outside the one you are arranged to marry (read: sexual slavery), this is opportunity?

And your story about that poor young girl is beyond heartbreaking…

Peggy Sue, I think you are correct, the argument should be that a woman is free to decide to cover her head OR NOT. Of course, this decision is too often made for the woman by the dominant males in her life (abetted by any female authority figures who subscribe to the party line).

I find the commandment to wear head coverings particularly odious for children and youngsters living in western cultures, where the hijab signals them out as outsiders from the mainstream. I know, it is a matter of faith. Whose faith? It is a “matter of faith” when Jehovah’s Witness children are forced to become social weirdos in the classroom because they are taught they must not salute the flag. I think it’s very hard on kids.

Well, my main objection to this clip is the statement that he objects to those in the West who claim that a woman who covers her hair is unequal.

Who claims that??

The argument is: that a woman should be free to cover her head.

Or not.

Her choice, her individual choice without religious or political pressure, to dress as she pleases whether she lives in the US or anywhere else. If she cannot dress as she pleases, her educational choices are irrelevant. Because she won’t have a choice about anything, education included.

So, Obama offers a false premise and calls it good or progressive? And then we’re suppose to applaud?

Rubbish. The man talks in dizzying circles.

Pro-woman? Think again! For God’s sake, think. This is empty, hollow rhetoric. Pandering to the crowd.

Honor killings, anyone?? Or as Larry reminded us: stonings for a rape victim.
