WE HAVE A COUNTER-FORCE TO THIS CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER!

AND IT IS YOU AND I!

As MacAddict wrote to me today:

I have not seen a strong response to Obama heading to Iowa (see “Obama To Spend Tues. Night in Iowa, Possibly Will Claim Victory“) and I think their needs to be a strong effort to get the narrative out that this is the Obama strategy to “Declare Victory Before it is Too Late.”

When Hillary wins Kentucky by double digits, it will be clear that Hillary has a plurality of the popular vote. Once the Rules committee votes to include FL and MI then she will also be closer in the delegate numbers and it will clear that no one will reach the magic number.

Hillary’s momentum is picking up and Obama wants to take it away before the MSM picks up on the fact that Hillary is the popular vote winner, has won the most key states, and has the best chance to beat McCain.

No one wins until the person reaches the magic number. The voters will determine the winner not the candidates nor the MSM. This strategy should be painted as a loser trying to take his ball and go home when there is still two minutes left in the game – two minutes left in a game where one team is ahead but the other team is catching up fast. No one would accept this strategy or accept this as victory. Even the MSM and maybe even Chris Matthews could understand this. Timmy would even understand that the Red Sox could not declare they won the World Series when they were ahead 3-2. This is the world series and Barrick was ahead 3-1 now it is 3-2 and he wants to declare victory before it is 3-3 ( after Kentucky when it will be clear she has the lead in the popular vote and he maintains a slim lead in the delegate count) and before it becomes 3-4 in favor of Hillary ( after additional wins in the remaining primaries).

Hillary and her campaign need to hammer this “Declare Victory Before it is too late – is the strategy of a loser.” It should not work in politics and would be a disaster as the policy of a sitting President.

Think of all the examples of from history where the US stood up under dire circumstances and went on to Victory -

The Alamo, Pearl Harbor, Bastogne, etc and think of the same thing in politics – “Dewey defeats Truman” (Truman was a fighter and so is Hillary) “Americans love a winner and can not stand a loser.” America also loves the underdog and the fighter. Obama’s strategy is the strategy of a a person who is afraid to lose and afraid to fight. It is the strategy of a loser. Obama is a loser.

      Sources tell me that it is the intent of the Odrama Campaign to claim victory by Friday by an all out assault on the SD’s to commit. They do NOT want the Rules Committee to be able to consider seating FL and MI before they are able to get the delegates to win. If you haven’t been calling KY and OR, this is the time. The bigger the margin the better. Like Bush in 2000, he’s going to claim it whether its his or not. That’s just one more way he’s like Bush, and we know how that has turned out.

        Saw an interview this AM from Jax FL, my home state, with Corinne Brown. She said 10,000? Floridians would be in Washington to demand Florida be seated.
        She is supporting Hillary.
        The argument to be made is ths. The Republican Gov and Senate were the ones that changed the dates, not the voters. So in truth we had no say. But Obama wants to take our votes away, whine baby that he is.

        As Hillary supporters (and I SUPPORT Hillary 100%), we need to be truthful to counter the untruths and innuendo of the more rabid Obama supporters.

        Maybe you disagreed with the second part of the statement: “the merits of leftist organizing.” I could understand that. But Hillary DID write her senior thesis with the title: ” There Is Only The Fight: An Analysis of The Alinsky Model.”

        If you know this to to be in error, please provide proof so I can correct my information.

          You are correct about the title of Hillary’s thesis but not about the conclusions she came to. She came to the conclusion that Alinsky’s methods would not work effectively to change things on a large scale—too divisive at a nationwide level to ever be successful. HRC was offered a position by Alinsky himself but chose another path. She met Alinsky and MLK in the same time frame and it was the path of MLK that she thought was most promising in the long run. Check out her speech at Wellesley commencement. Please note that it is Obama who was schooled in Alinsky’s methodology and has very much incorporated his tactics in the O campaign. See a post at Anglachels that reveals the hard knuckled fund raising tactics of the O campaign and how he is using funds not only to buy support but to ensure that his donors do not donate to others and send all their dollars to him to be channeled to others. That is a very bare knuckled but wildly successful money machine operation. It has some features that Rove put together on K Street.

      I think it’s a sign of desperation for him to declare victory so early… SD’s know this too. I spoke to one the other day that said many of them are shaking their heads at the antics! Him going to MI and FL before the end of the Primaries are another thing many are shaking their heads about… I mean it’s pretty clear that since he sees that victory isn’t as close as he thinks it WAS…he know goes out and tries to yell the loudest that he’s won! It’s not going to change anything because he’s still going to have to go to the Convention because that is where this is all headed now! He’s not going to reach the magic number of PLEDGED delegates (SD’s vote doesn’t count until Convention) and it looks like he’s going to lag in the Popular Vote. Only leading in Pledged Delegates without the magic number isn’t going to be much of a selling point without that lead in the Popular Vote too. Obama now knows this and so this is a last ditch attempt to scream the loudest (as he always does)…
      I guess he thinks if he does this then they cant deny him the nomination… LOL

        it’s a sign of arrogance and stupidity. the only way to ensure he won’t get Hillary’s democrats is to try to hijack it prematurely. but he had to do something, she challenged his ego when she made her rousing speech in WV, and he was listening and thinking, I must do something to counter her message that she can win if the voters turn out and show she has momentum, while he knows he’s lost a lot of his own. Poor fellow, trapped into promising a mission accomplished moment. And with like 70 percent of Americans wanting it to play out and angry with the media for a premature declaration de facto to Barack, he needs to get some of those voters disliking him?

        Contact the superdelegates in your individual states and tell them you will not support ever again any down-party Dems who support Obama. They are all very worried about their own re-election, and this will have the desired effect of making them listen to the voters. Thanks!!!

          Maybe he is afraid his fathers heritage will be listed on the birth certificate. According to a research paper I read, Obama’s father was listed with the Kenyan Government as an Arab African. If so that would make him an Arab American not African American.
          All three of his names are Arabic. Obama being Swahili. Arabs settled on the East Coast and the resulting culture became known as Swahili. If you read the history of slavery you will find that it was Arabs that captured Asians, whites, blacks. Be ironic if blacks were responsible for electing an Arab, masquerading as a black. And they still harbor hatred at whites for being slavers?

      Hillary may have written a thesis about Alinsky, but Barack Obama is the one that followed his principles. I am sure that if Hillary had done her thesis on Mao Tse-Tung, y’all would be insinuating that she was a Maoist, too.

      The last time that I checked, Hillary didn’t associate or mentor with racists or Weather Underground scum. And as for a communist police state, we would not have to worry about that with Hillary. Who knows what other radical associations Obama and his wife have. Personally, I am not as worried about his radical connections as I am concerned about his association with his corrupt political contemporaries in the Chicago political machine. Chicago style politics is not what America needs!

        See above post about HRC thesis. She concluded Alinsky methods would not work on a large scale; she turned down a position with Alinsky in Chicago. O was a community organizer in Chicago trained and doing exactly the Alinsky methods HRC did not choose.

      Barack is no threat, he’s just trying to hijack the nomination. He’s the insider favorite, he’s bet to beat Hillary. But he hasn’t been able to close the deal and he’s losing his momentum and she’s looking even better, and he’s not sure he’ll win the good old-fashioned way, by campaigning and asking folks to vote for him, so he’s trying to cut the process short and his campaign is claiming that the longer it goes on the more he will be diminished in the GE. Some of her backers would like to see it go to the convention and we resent him for playing games with this. At least I do. This ploy is supposed to make his backers angry if it’s “taken away” from him, and he first has to give it to himself or that wouldn’t make sense. The the super’s are supposed to fear the backlash from his supporters and give it to him to prevent this backlash. in this way, very similar to George Bush on the tactical level. But such a tactic may bully him into the nom, but will diminish him in the eyes of democrats and he probably won’t win the GE if he’s seen as such an arrogant and self-serving egomaniac. If you know him, tell him not to. Tell him it’s dumb and will backfire.

        In a sane world, and with objective, impartial people running the DNC, Obama would have been gently pushed out of the race weeks ago so the party can unite behind the qualified, electable Clinton. But instead he’s about to “declare victory.” It’s like he’s read one too many of those self-help books Oprah gave him and is trying to visualize victory, then pretend it’s true, hoping the rest of us won’t notice what a sham the whole thing is. It’s on his bookshelf between the one about how to charm women by calling them sweetie and the atlas he obviously has never used.

    Larry, Obama has 120 superdelegates who have firmly committed to him. They all will come forward in a couple weeks. With Obama’s double double digit win in Oregon he will have all the delegates he needs to win. The DNC will not change the rules at the end of the race. Hillary can only claim popular vote is she does not count caucuses and claims Obama got zero votes in michigan. If you count the ‘blank votes’ in michigan by 40% for Obama… Obama still leads the popular vote.
    If you go by polls.. Obama and Clinton are only 5-10 points apart in michigan. We could do a revote.. but Obama would only need to win 20% in michigan to keep the popular vote lead. That’s with giving Hillary the votes as they stand now in Florida.

    I hope when this ends and Hillary supports Obama you don’t turn on her like a snake and rip into her like you do Obama.

    If so, you never supported her to begin with. It will be a test of your loyality to your lady.

    We will see.

ALL of us – Dems, Republicans, Libertarians, Constitution Partiers, Independents … it most definately IS about US and what is best for US. It shouldn’t have to do with party loyalty.             Thank you, my thoughts exactly , except I am a Dem (Until this primary a PROUD Dem) who has never even considerred voting anything but straight Dem. But First I am an American and so could never vote for Obama. I won’t stay home either, because Obama rather we stay home, then he would still have a chance of winning. So I will vote for McCain and look at it more as taking away 1 of Obama’s votes instead of actually being for McCain. But it isn’t a vote of spite, I truly believe out of the choices so far Hillary would be the best President, then McCain then way down my list would be Obama. IF Hillary isn’t on the ballot, which I still think she will be (am hoping at least) Then of the 2 McCain is my choice.

            That story will not do a damn thing unless we let it. The media has been from the beginning nothing more than a very ugly Obama cheerleader. Remember when they were saying the McCain campaign was in trouble because he was having to borrow money and that he would be dropping out of the race shortly? Did that come true? Unless I’m badly mistaken he’s the Republican nominee and Romney and Huckabee are the ones who dropped out.

            If Hillary says she’s staying in, that’s good enough for me. And if Obama and the DNC think she’s going to stand by quietly like Kerry did while someone steals something from her, they better come to their senses.

There are plenty of stories and articles on the internet. Even when something was revealed about this idiot, it was not reported. I blame the 4th estate for this.

            Where were they? Where are the patriots in this country. They sure aren’t on television.

            Obama gives me the creeps. He has made me question our elected officials. What the hell are they thinking. “He is such a leader.” Bullsh*t. He has done nothing, led nothing, established nothing of importance or relevance to this country. What are they thinking. Are our elected officials as shallow as Obama?             I was Edwards supporter and remember very powerful diary written by Fieldof dreams about him cheating in Iowa.
            Is it possible for you to do a diary about your experiences at Iowa caucus here in more detail? This is a very important topic that has not been covered enough. This might be good team to revisit it because there is anti-Obama momentum finally starting, as people are waking up to how he’s been pushed down our throat – and still is.
            It will come out at some time – maybe by Repubs. They could say he stole the election. I’d rather it come out in time for Hillary, not McCain. Though I can’t see voting for Obama, I don’t see McCain as a better alternative.
            Let’s nominate Hillary.

          As to “wins” Obama claims – I would like to see some recounts, and some penalties applied to him, for each complaint on bullying, vote stealing, and lies by his bused in people.

          Further, Obama shoud be prosecuted for ALL the state laws he violated during the campaign. Frankly I am sick unto death of hearing these behaviors referred to as campaign tactics. You break the law – its called a crime not a tactic!

    It isn’t a majority of pledged delegates. It is a plurality of total delegates.
    Good Lord ..Obamabots talk about the rulz but never bother to read them.

    The plurality of the total number of delegates will depend on how the challenge of MI and FL go. If those pledged delegates are seated, then they get added to the total. The plurality is then determined from there.

    So we cannot ascertain what the plurality of total delegates are until after the meeting and subsequent floor challenge at the convention. Those are the rulz.

    Senator Oboma is going to prance and jump up and down. However, if even if the SD’s claim their support now to give Obmama a plurality..doesn’t matter. SD’s ar not bound and their votes only count once official count at the convention. Those are the rulz.

    So unless either Obama or Clinton drop out of the race..there is no nominee until the convention.

    I’ve been following this blog for a couple of days now. I for one agree with the majority that there is no way I’m voting for Obama. Yuo cna call me a racist or what every but the truth of the matter is I just don’t trust Obama. There is still a lot that we don’t know about this person’s character and frankly that concerns me, but what really concerns me more is the fact that he has not done anything with his time in politics. The only real asset he has is his ability to speak. Of course I expect a little more out of my president than the ability to make a good speech.

    I for one cna’t vote for Mccain either. If Obama is the nominee then I choose to cast my vote for the libertain candidate.     TX is a prime example of some of this mayhem. Hillary won the legitimate Texas primary, but “somehow” lost the delegates. Delegates are useless, corrupt, and meaningless.

    Hillary and her campaign need to hammer this “Declare Victory Before it is too late – is the strategy of a loser.” It should not work in politics and would be a disaster as the policy of a sitting President.

    Hillary is addressing herself for president in a past tense; talking more against McCain/Bush; and letting things like NARAL’s endorsement of Obama just slip by — a major issue with women, rights, and that doesn’t get a blip on the radar.

    This is sounding so rehearsed, and she looks to be grabbing votes not so much to win, to take later in local/state elections (turning Red to Blue stragedy).

    That fighting spirit is also being replaced with “unity” talk, even.

    If she’s going to pull out, pull out, don’t drag everyone else down to the wire. Then get all perky about “unity”, and gladhanding for Obama’s “victory”. She knows a good size of her voters are sick of Obama and will bail, so she might be holding out so to keep the donations going for as long as possible. At this stage it’ll be going to the DNC anyway.

    Presidential candidates don’t talk in past tense about their chances, unless they are finished. Very disappointed, because going on like a long last lap, is much like milking a customer of their last coin. Then, to add insult to injury, a quick out-of-nowhere, “let’s help Obama out now!” speech when she puts on the “For Party” hat.

    Tuesday Obama will try to steal the nomination in much the same way that Bush stole the 2000 election. He will declare victory when there is none.

    He sees victory slipping away and is clinging to hope out of desperation.

    His superdelegate endorsements have slowed to a trickle, if even that.

    He is behind in the popular vote if we still value democracy and this is still a country made up of 50 states.

    He wants to claim victory before the DNC Rules Committee meets on the 31st and recognizes the voters of FL and MI.

    The inequity of the delegate system is being questioned, particularly with the involvement of Obama’s caucus thugs.

    Most people are starting to see Obama can’t win the electoral votes, meaning he can’t win in November.

    Most people are starting to see that Hillary won the big states, which are needed to win in November.

    Most people are starting to see that Hillary has real plans for the economy, healthcare, and more. Not copies.

    He will not have reached the 2209 delegates needed to declare victory or even the arbitrary figure of 2025 delegates.

    He has pulled a lot of Chicago-style tricks during this primary, but I don’t think this one will work.

    make him a laughing stock.

    Kerry was at risk of losing it Why? Because the DNC convention was in July of
    2004 and the GOP convention would wrap up in September. The Washington Post, May
    2004: “Under federal law, each major-party nominee will receive a check for
    $74.69 million from the U.S. Treasury to finance the general election. Receipt
    of the money is triggered by formal acceptance of the nomination, and after that
    no money raised for the primaries can be used on behalf of each nominee’s general
    election campaign.” Read the article. The Kerry campaign and DNC were not
    talking about delaying the convention, they were talking about no announcement of
    the nominee being made at the convention and doing that later. That was one idea
    they were toying with. If the announcement is made, the FEC regulations kick in.

    When John McCain’s mentioned here we generally note he is the presumed nominee
    and often include the point that, barring some upset (“heart attack or scandal”),
    he will be the GOP nominee in the fall. Barack Obama making an announcement this
    month would result in one of two things. A) The DNC calls him out on it and he
    has egg on his face that the press laughs at from now until the convention. (Possibly
    beyond.) B) The DNC doesn’t call him on it. If the DNC makes no statement
    that the nominee has not been decided and it is not in Barack Obama’s power
    to declare himself the nominee, then Barack would be in the presidential spending
    cycle. In May. Defeating everything the DNC was hoping to achieve this year by
    pushing the convention back to August. Read the Washington Post article. The 2004
    convention would take place but John Kerry would make a speech in August declaring
    himself the nominee and they intended to argue that the speech was when Kerry became
    the nominee. By the same token, if Barack declares himself the nominee before the
    convention and is not loudly rebuked by the DNC, the federal guidelines should kick
    in and you better believe the Republicans will argue that they should.

    When one candidate is left standing (the ‘norm’ for those especially young),
    they still aren’t the nominee until the declaration. Barack making such a declaration
    before the convention and doing so while another candidate remains in the race would
    be viewed as a formal acceptance (seizure) of the nomination and the FEC spending
    rules would kick in.

    Along with the p.r. nightmare Barack would create by declaring himself the nominee,
    people better get real about what happens in terms of financing. And, if you missed
    it, Barack’s engaged in a dance with the press about how he would finance a
    general election campaign. Declaring himself the nominee — with no LOUD rebuke
    from the DNC — would take the issue from the hypothetical into the near future
    into the immediate present. (While the GOP nominee would have months to decide
    what they intend to do.) Since, unlike 2004, there are still two candidates, Barack
    declaring himself the nominee to shut out Hillary would most likely have to be seen
    by the FEC as his nomination unless the DNC loudly rebuked him and the federal finance
    laws on the general election cycle would immediately kick in.

    Barack shouldn’t be able to declare himself the nominee. It’s a tie and
    the rules and guidelines say it goes to the convention where it’s decided.
    But if he does try to do that the two most likely outcomes are (A) he enters the
    general election finance period in May or (B)he is loudly rebuked by the DNC. If
    it’s (A), he defeats the entire purpose of the DNC moving the convention to
    August for 2008. If it’s (B), he becomes the laughingstock of the press and
    America which suddenly gets an education on how a nominee is decided and Barack’s
    speech becomes his Dan Quayle potato moment (or, as Dan spelled it, “potatoe”).

    Some people are desperate to identify what vexes them so they frame it in ways they can wholly accept even if not consciously choosing to entirely understand. The idea of thoroughly analyzing the object of their wrath, let alone admitting their own foibles and vulnerabilities is anathema, tantamount to weakness. After all, their analyses might result in exoneration. And that would leave these people feeling as though they lacked purpose. We smear, we’re here, so get used to it.

    It’s always been a tactic for a bully to assume the characteristics (however unbelievably) of the bullied. In this past election year rather than dwell for too long in the area of intellectual exchange and civil debate, the bully inherent in the American persona could stand it no more, shoved all the pantywaists aside and assumed its dominance over the scene by accusing the remaining participants of things any normal person would find repugnant. Elitists. Appeasers. The real problem is that the bullies are our brothers, our sisters, our selves. They’re no longer just the usual suspects.

    Again, Republican strategists have a cynical but canny understanding of American nature, how susceptible it is, how easily (if one is patient) a subliminal suggestion can be planted, take root and then, when the time is right, be brought to unquestioning kinesis at the utterance of a choice word or piquant phrase. Evil, brilliant and effective, it has recently been co-opted by the traditional victims of this very maneuver except with a result that brings a smile to every intelligent right wing designer’s oily lips.

    Being a bully means never having to say you’re sorry.

    They simply can’t. It ain’t in ‘em. But in anyone else’s hands, bullying is toxic and the user can’t handle the concentrated amount as it seeps through the skin and into the bloodstream, eventually breaking down the ersatz bully’s intention and causing chaos under their roof.

    I’ve seen other sites where it was discussed that Obama’s campaign won’t release his birth certficate. One of the things being discussed on those sites was the fact that Hawaii became a state (from a territory) in 1959 close to the time Obama gives as his birth date which is 1961. Another point discussed was that he may an additional middle name. And it was also discussed was whether there is a marriage certificate for his parents. They couldn’t understand why the secrecy.

Anyone with some free time google some of the past Chicago elections. Try Harold Washington, Eugene Sawyer, Jane Byrne, Both Daleys. 90% of Obamas contributions come in the bundle variety ( 200 or less ). Is it that? Or is it City contracts for campaign contributions? I would be willing to bet that 70 % of that 90% comes from the city of Chicago. Don’t worry though. We (Chicago) plan to make it back in spades. Ghost payroll , nepatism, Government contracts for cash ( google Chicago and pay to play .) are just a few of the ways they will get that money back. Heck it may just pay for the olympics if we get them in 2016. Oh man I could go on for hours. This election is brutal for me.I am an avid Clinton supporter. I liked Bill and I believe that Hillary would be able to turn our country around. On the other hand as an Illinois taxpayer I am tired of paying for all of this. I want to thank all Obama supporters for offering to take this off our hands. It’s tempting really it is. However for the good of our country, I need to decline at this time. We here in Illinois will just continue to suffer for all of you. Remember us in your prayers. We are so disgusted and hopeless. For me the fatal wound ( the spear through the side ) came when I found out the good Rev. Wright has started building his new home in MY SUBURB. Life sucks. Sorry for the long post but when you have a sympathetic ear you tend to talk it off.

    Unless you reach the magic number of PLEDGED delegates (NOT COUNTING SD’s) then you really are just the same as the candidate who trails you. That is why this is going to the convention. Because neither candidate will achieve that magic number. The problem for Bambi is going to the Convention without a popular vote lead to go with that lead in pledged delegates doesn’t look all that great for him.

    I think you are right. Obama is gonna lose Kentucky and be upset in Oregon, then he is gonna rush out and declare “Mission Accomplished” and it is going to hilarious(I see humor in horrible things).

    It will have no effect on Hillary’s supporters whatsoever. We understand that she is a loyal Democrat and will stand by the party. We understand that were she to still have a political future where she can come back in 2012, she needs to play loyal Democrat. We will in fact back her again in 2012. And in order to do that, we must insure that Obama looses in 2008. We don’t want to wait another 8 years for our candidate to travel to 1600 PA Ave. So we will plod along with 4 years of McCain, knowing that at least we will be safe, and then in 2012 we will elect Clinton, and get about the business of repairing our country. And we will take an astounding amount of glee in seeing Obama go back to the US Senate, licking his wounds, and have to work with none other than the estimable Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton! If not Hillary, then President John McCain it will be!

    So naive. Diplomacy is not saying the President will talk with “enemies” before the ground work has been done by the professional Diplomatic Corps. The President does not meet with those “enemies” without pre-conditions.

    Hillary Clinton will use diplomacy in the correct manner. She also has outlined a deterrence strategy with the umbrella of protection extending to the entire ME. This is an argument and approach that counters the NeoCons “Preemptive Strike”. This is exactly what is needed and the Iranians need to know that the US is serious about stopping nuclear proliferation and in protecting Israel in event of a nuclear strike. You can’t be ambiguous about the consequences of that happening; otherwise, what you don’t want may occur because of “misunderstanding” the reaction from the US.
