Is Barack Obama a Chick? [UPDATED] (UPDATED AGAIN)
By Larry Johnson on June 8, 2009 at 2:58 PM in Current Affairs
Barack Obama. Is he a woman? The dude has got to be female. Why? He’s math challenged. And we all know that women have more trouble with math than guys, right?
Okay, maybe we ought to rethink that sexist charge. Barack is not a chick, but he is seriously math challenged.
Listen to this bullshit:
So, fewer job losses is a move in the right direction?
For starters, take a look at the actual stats and report on unemployment:
The number of unemployed persons increased by 787,000 to 14.5 million in May, and the unemployment rate rose to 9.4 percent. Since the start of the recession in December 2007, the number of unemployed persons has
risen by 7.0 million, and the unemployment rate has grown by 4.5 percentage points. (See table A-1.)Unemployment rates rose in May for adult men (9.8 percent), adult women (7.5 percent), whites (8.6 percent), and Hispanics (12.7 percent). The jobless rates for teenagers (22.7 percent) and blacks (14.9 percent) were little changed over the month. The unemployment rate for Asians was 6.7 percent in May, not seasonally adjusted, up from 3.8 percent a year earlier. (See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)
Among the unemployed, the number of job losers and persons who completed temporary jobs rose by 732,000 in May to 9.5 million. This group has increased by 5.8 million since the start of the recession. (See table A-8.)
The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) increased by 268,000 over the month to 3.9 million and has tripled since the start of the recession. (See table A-9.)
Did you catch that number? 787,000 newly unemployed. In March the number of unemployed increased by 746,000. In April the number losing jobs slowed; it was only 563,000. But in May it soared to 787,000. That’s called a trendline boys and girls and it definitely is not a signal that the economic recovery is on the horizon.
If you are in a boat on the open ocean and taking on water, in other words, you are sinking, are you going to dance a jig when the rate of inflow slows? Only if you are certain you can now bail out more water than comes on board.
But that’s not happening with the U.S. economy. When Barack Obama took office there were 10.6 million unemployed Americans. Today? That number has soared to 14.5 million. That is 3.9 million people who want a job but can’t find one. And Barack Obama wants to take a victory lap for allegedly saving 150,000 jobs?
It is also troubling that the media, like intoxicated bobblehead dolls, are nodding along with the Obama Administration’s claim that the economy is recovering. Yet, if it was working why is the Obama team talking about a new stimulus plan? Without saying so the Obama team appears to be conceding that his much ballyhooed stimulus plan has flopped. Do you not understand that the plan that was passed by Congress and signed into law by Barack spends less than 30% of the appropriation by October of this year?
Mindless happy talk does not put a chicken in every pot. Deft spinning and political propaganda does not put shoppers in stores nor does it generate loanable funds. Barack Obama’s plan remains simple and destructive–he proposes to quadruple government deficit spending in order to counteract the recession brought on by Bush deficit spending. If you got fat by eating a cup of ice cream everyday would you buy into my weight loss plan if I insisted you needed to eat four cups instead of just one? If you are that dumb then Barack is your man.
UPDATE: Quick. Get a screen shot of this before it disappears. Here’s what the “crack” Obama economic team forecasted in December 2008:
1. IMMEDIATE ACTION TO CREATE GOOD JOBS IN AMERICA
The economy has lost 760,000 jobs this year — and some forecasters expect the unemployment rate to exceed 8 percent by the end of next year. Addressing the financial crisis will help prevent the most severe loss of jobs from the crisis. But taking direct steps to create jobs will also strengthen the economy and help with the financial crisis. Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s overall economic agenda is pro-jobs, including their plans to eliminate America’s dependence on foreign oil and bring down healthcare costs. But Obama and Biden believe we must take additional aggressive steps to jump-start job creation right now:
“Exceed 8 percent by the end” of 2009? Hell, that did not make it even halfway through the year. By why hold Obama and his team accountable. They inherited this problem so why be responsible?
OT, some or you are devoid entirely of irony. The fact that Obama obviously is not a woman and is math challenged calls into question the claim that women somehow lack the math ability of dudes. If you can’t understand that point you may want to rethink if you have what it takes intellectually to keep pace with us on this blog. The women seem to understand, it tends to be guys who are clueless. Go figure
UPDATED AGAIN: This says it all.
