Negotiating With Terrorists + Knowledge of Foreign Policy/History?

– Uh, a little knowledge of history and political diplomacy might help!

ALSO: My daughter just e-mailed me with this tidbit on Fox News: “After a voter in a townhall meeting asked obama about nuclear stuff and the hanford site:

here’s something you won’t hear often from a politician..uh…i’m not familiar with hanford…uh…

She reports he also said:

i don’t know what’s going on there [hanford]

**APPLAUSE** — My daughter says is what the audience did after hearing that. HOW IN THE NAME OF GOD can he NOT KNOW about Hanford? Oh dear god.

READ THIS:

Make Up Your Mind

Because some of us do pay attention:

Barack Obama, last night in Portland, on Iran: “They don’t pose a serious threat to us.”

Barack Obama, earlier on the afternoon of May 19th, in Billings, Montana, on Iran: “I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.”

How can you say two very different things on the same day? Perhaps it was the audience? In liberal Oregon, Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat”. In more conservative Montana, the “threat from Iran is grave.” You just don’t sound foolish, you just don’t look foolish, you are foolish.

And foreign policy is the one area where you believe have special competence? Anymore of this and I may just have to start using expletives because this is just unbelievable.

Here’s Obama in Billings:

“Iran is a grave threat. It has an illicit nuclear program. It supports terrorism across the region and militias in Iraq. It threatens Israel’s existence. It denies the Holocaust,” he said. “The reason Iran is so much more powerful than it was a few years ago is because of the Bush-McCain policy of fighting in Iraq and refusing to pursue direct diplomacy with Iran. They’re the ones who have not dealt with Iran wisely.”

More on the story at The Chicago Tribune.

Here’s Obama on the Iranian threat in Billings, Montana:

And here’s Obama in Portland. The same day.

Please stop before you give us whiplash and turn what’s left of your campaign into a laughingstock.

You may have attention deficit disorder but I don’t and the GOP has a memory like an elephant. And on video no less. I can see the ads now.

  • http://www.hillaryclinton.com President Hillary Clinton will defeat Obama and his troll army!

Excellent work you nailed him big time.

When does the party start tonight? I’m so looking forward to Hillary’s win!

  • Dora Ratquila

Gosh, you guys are so insensitive and ignorant! Maybe it was the “apostate” in him talking when he gave that speech in Portland. Then, his master puppetteer quickly asked his “Candidate of Change” to “finetune” his stand lest it outs him for the neo-liberal/terrorist-hugger that he is. Too late! Thank God for Youtube! When will the Democratic Party elite ever learn?!

  • It’s Not Me

He’s screwing up, contradicting himself, because he LIES. He doesn’t mean what he says and that means he can’t keep track of all the various stances he’s taken on different issues. Lies ALWAYS come back to bite you in the ass!

When Kennedy and Khruschev had a summit–Nikita thought he saw weakness in Kennedy.

This lead to the Cuban Missile Crisis where Khruschev decided to test Kennedy.

Reagan in 1985 had Gorbachev under his thumb financially and militarily. AAnd Gorbachev wanted an end to the Eastern Bloc.

A summit needs to have an express purpose. So a summit with Iran would require a few obvious public goals. What would those goals be?

JOIN MAY 20 EMAIL PROTEST TO SUPER DELEGATES. Let’s exercise our rights while we still have any democracy – Below this comment is an exclusive EMAIL ADDRESS LIST of Super Delegates

We all know the obama camp intended today as his coronation – at least that seems postponed (thanks to many like us) . However, he is still holding some big phony rally in DesMoines Iowa tonight (you know, the state where he won the first phony caucus) His intention is to detract attention from the Primary voters who are shown to support Hillary tonight – when the votes come in.

Last week, his antics to steal the thunder from WVa 70% HILL win was to put edwards on center MSM stage and send naral/prochoice group on national phone bank to brag they endorsed him. Smart naral state chapters received such a flood of email protests that the local chapters have distanced themselves from the national. Their national leader retorted that “women need to heal their broken hearts and get on with the business of politics”. When asked reason for the endorsement (and its awkward timing) she said that organizations today need to focus on the ‘under thirties’ demographic.

There we go, thrown under the bus, again.

PLEASE SHOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS by sending EMAIL protests to this list of Super Delegates today and tonight. Tell them in your own way, why they should Hillary Clinton, NOT obama. If you can, do this today, May 20. Let’s steal his thunder for a change!

No Quarter should be required reading for college curriculum.

Really though do many of the college kids nowadays just spend most of their time in FaceBook when they’re on the web? Do they think this is American Idol? Maybe some of the parents can get them to take a second look or put them some kind of ‘un-brainwashing’ program during Summer Break.

And what about these highly educated latte drinkers? Don’t they know how to use the internet effectively and why are they so gullible? Don’t they see the red flags worth investigating?

Here’s hoping common sense and true patriotism makes a comeback and soon.

This is making me wonder about our education system because it seems like a lot of college educated folks seem to be lacking in critical thinking skills.

For local fans of Clinton, campaign is personal and “extremely emotional”

    * Oregon, Kentucky primaries latest to shape race

When Shannon de Rubens, a stay-at-home mom, wears her Hillary Rodham Clinton button, she expects to be harassed. A woman in Bellevue even pretended to spit on her once. That’s all part of the game, when you’re a Clinton backer in a land of Obama bumper stickers.

“I hate to say it, but that sort of acrimony between strangers has been standard in this campaign, especially locally,” said de Rubens, who lives in Issaquah and co-founded two grass-roots campaign groups, the Hillraisers, in the region with more than 100 members total.

“We feel undervalued, mistreated and bullied. It’s been an emotional journey,” she said.

RealClearPolitics: Obama Needs to Learn a History Lesson:

In his victory speech after the North Carolina primary, Sen. Barack Obama said something that is all the more remarkable for how little it has been remarked upon.

In defending his stated intent to meet with America’s enemies without preconditions, Sen. Obama said: “I trust the American people to understand that it is not weakness, but wisdom to talk not just to our friends, but to our enemies, like Roosevelt did, and Kennedy did, and Truman did.”

That he made this statement, and that it passed without comment by the journalists covering his speech indicates either breathtaking ignorance of history on the part of both, or deceit.

I assume the Roosevelt to whom Sen. Obama referred is Franklin D. Roosevelt. Our enemies in World War II were Nazi Germany, headed by Adolf Hitler; fascist Italy, headed by Benito Mussolini, and militarist Japan, headed by Hideki Tojo. FDR talked directly with none of them before the outbreak of hostilities, and his policy once war began was unconditional surrender.

FDR died before victory was achieved, and was succeeded by Harry Truman. Truman did not modify the policy of unconditional surrender. He ended that war not with negotiation, but with the atomic bomb.

    It gets worse:

Sen. Obama is on both sounder and softer ground with regard to John F. Kennedy. The new president held a summit meeting with Soviet leader Nikita Khruschev in Vienna in June, 1961.

Elie Abel, who wrote a history of the Cuban missile crisis (The Missiles of October), said the crisis had its genesis in that summit.

“There is reason to believe that Khrushchev took Kennedy’s measure in June 1961 and decided this was a young man who would shrink from hard decisions,” Mr. Abel wrote. “There is no evidence to support the belief that Khrushchev ever questioned America’s power. He questioned only the president’s readiness to use it. As he once told Robert Frost, he came to believe that Americans are ‘too liberal to fight.’”

  • Dawnelle

if you had finished reading you would have seen she or he was being facetious and sarcastic!

  • so saddened

obambi says kennedy talked to khruschev and got those missiles out of cuba – typical misleading crap. he’s trying to make the obamaloons think that talking to khruschev was a rookie mistake and resulted in getting the missiles out of cuba, rather than the reality that talking to khruschev had a lot to do with getting the missiles IN to cuba and it took a near world war iii disaster to get them out. the obamaloons don’t know history any better than he does, so they’ll believe him.

i continue to say that if obambi were president at the time of the cuban missile crisis, the human race would’ve ended in 1961. obambi doesn’t have the knowledge, experience, judgment, or ability to resolve such a situation the way kennedy did.

re obambi’s different positions on the same day on the same issue – if called on it, he’ll just say that’s so old politics, using his own words against him. after all, the former words were said before the latter words, so they’re in the past. and this election isn’t about the past, it’s about the future….and the obamaloons will slurp it up.

  • Dan

It’s a shame that the debates didn’t focus on the HISTORICAL knowledge of the candidates.

They could have based a debate around the understanding of the Cuban Missile Crisis or the Great Depression or what have you.

Obama shows a faily poor grasp of what precipitated the Cuban Missile Crisis (Kennedy invading Cuba and meeting with Khruschev), what the Cuban Missile Crisis was (The US blockading cuba and running down Russian ships and pushing the world to the brink of holocaust), and how it was solved (capitulating to a set of Russian demands in exchange for the removal of ballistic missiles from Cuba).

You also have the side issue of Kennedy ratcheting up the US presence in Vietnam while he was showboating in the carribean.

Is Obama promising a return to those interesting times count me out.

Wow, is he for real what a flip flop, 2nd speech he seems like he is making a case for poor tiny Iran, that the big bad USA can just wipe off the map so we should be talking to them helping them, aiding them just to get by, Iran is so helpless now.

He went so far to say he knows they have no nukes none what so ever I wonder how he knows this, is he making a case that they don’t have and not trying to develop any,yet here goes the GOP once again beating up on a defenseless country?

He also said in his first year he will secure all nuclear materials around the world so by now and Nov 08/Jan 09 is Iran going to find some? If you notice the first speech was from a written text when he was coming off strong about Iran, the second speech he is talking off the cuff.

I really feel the 2nd speech is how he truly feels that poor defenseless Iran and they are going to need all the help they can get from him when and if he becomes president.

  • karen for Clinton

When he is speaking to an audience he always does it as if there are no cameras on him and he can lie through his teeth to get their votes and nobody will notice. How many hundreds of times has he done this and gotten away with it?

Remember when he was accusing Clinton of polling opinions in regions to find out what to say to them.

Well her stances have been public record on her senate site and her pres campaign site and are written in stone.

The things he doesn’t know and should know about are always astounding. There was a question at a town hall months ago about the value of the penny and if it should still be minted. He didn’t understand the importance of the question and that it had to do with the cost of minting being more than the value.

His answer to the penny question was to blather on that Abe Lincoln was an important American president.

He doesn’t get it. He is out of touch with common knowledge. He doesn’t understand the consequences of his own horrific behavior either. Every time George Bush spoke to dignitaries I cringed with worry that he would say something ignorant and end up worsening relations – which was often the case… think France. But that is a HUGE reason why Clinton is so clearly the better candidate. We can sleep well knowing she won’t be flipping the bird or making derogatory or ignorantly offensive remarks to heads of state. He is so arrogant and his style of bargaining and arguing his case is to never back down and to never admit in being wrong.

When he doesn’t know something he makes shit up!

That is extrodinarily dangerous in a world leader.

What is it with this guy?

Thanks to whomever linked to Ed Koch and Larouche’s articles on the Edwards sell out. Very interesting.

He is so incredibly bad at everything I am fully starting to think the DNC is leading him on and letting him take the heat till the convention and then they are going to throw their weight behind her suddenly (due to some August scandal on him) and she will have walked through most of the year without taking all the hits and no history of problems erupting. Bosnia gaff was not a tragedy, it just showed she was real. Other than that they got nothing on her… so far. That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it. And if it is delusional, let me believe it till it’s over, it keeps me sane.

    good one!

I wonder how some supporters of Obama are going to weasel out of their earlier statements regarding Obama’s no conditions meeting with Iran.

Last year when the issue first came up regarding Obama wanting to meet Ahmadinejad unconditionally Chris Dodd said: “There are some leaders – like Iran’s Ahmadinejad, who denies the Holocaust ever took place – which cannot and should not be diplomatically rewarded with visits from the American president.” I wonder how Dodd is going to squirrel out of that?

At that time, Joe Biden told National Review Online that the idea of a president meeting with Ahmadinejad, Chavez, and others was “naïve.”
