Obama Math [updated]

Some in the Main Stream Media ain’t math challenged, they’re just using a different standard. It is OBAMA MATH. I kept hearing yesterday that Kentucky and Oregon were the same size states. Imagine my surprise to learn that there were only 441,489 Democratic voters in Oregon while Kentucky had 668,916 (UPDATE–Upon closer inspection, Washington Post is only reporting 52% of the precincts). With traditional math, a bitter white person clinging to guns and god would conclude that Kentucky was actually bigger than Oregon. But not if you use OBAMA MATH.
Here is how it works. Counting both Oregon and Kentucky Obama won 465,980 votes yesterday. Hillary, by contrast, won 459,145 in Kentucky alone. When you total all of the votes for Hillary, she won 58% of the votes while Obama snared 42% of the ballots.
And how did the Washington Post describe this? OBAMA TAKES DELEGATE MAJORITY: MARK REACH WITH BIG VICTORY IN OREGON. And Obama gave his “victory” speech touting his triumph. That’s winning? I hope the Washington Redskins can use a scoring system like this in the Fall. If so, Super Bowl here we come.
Just to be clear. Barack gets creamed in the larger, more populated state, but the one that “counts” as far as the Post is concerned is Oregon. If Barack produces those same numbers come November I suspect folks actually in touch with reality will call it an ass whipping.
Over at CBS News, they are stuck with that old math. (What a bunch of out of touch, bitter white people!) They note:
Just a glance at who voted for Clinton in Kentucky and in what numbers: 72 percent of white voters; 70 percent of those with no college degree; 67 percent of those with incomes of $50,000 or less; 67 percent-plus of those voters over age 50; 240,000 more total votes. In a 35-point win, those margins are going to be large. In fact, Clinton won the majority of votes in nearly every single category measured by the exit polls. But it’s that coalition of women, whites, lower-educated, lower-income and older voters that have clung to Clinton even as the pundits declare her campaign over.
If we would just figure out a way to get rid of those damn middle aged, non-college educated, cash strapped white bitches, then we would appreciate the utopia Obama is offering.
Oh yes. Just in from Florida. Apparently the same group of undereducated, underfunded menopausal gals didn’t get the message. According to the latest Rasmussen poll, Hillary wallops McCain (47-41) but McCain clobbers Obama (50-40).
Taking tongue out of cheek, it certainly appears that the Democratic establishment entrenched in Washington are telling the folks who rallied around Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry Truman that unless they vote for Barack their votes don’t count as much. Good to know.
LARRY MATH: Whoops. The numbers reported by the post represent only 52% of the vote in Oregon. So the media gets it right that both Oregon and Kentucky are about the same size. But the results remain the same. Hillary has substantially more votes than Barack. But why would Democrats care about “votes”? That’s crazy (isn’t it?)
