Man, oh, man……I really wanted to write to my local guy, Waxman, about going for Obama. But technically, he’s not my rep. He definitely went against his area, which is predominately Jewish. Hillary won, hands-down.

I cannot WAIT for this poll. This will give me an excuse to contact him and suggest he change his endorsement.

Those of us from CA tried to warn Obama supporters. CA is NOT a Democratic slam dunk. We have a Republican governor. We’re liberal. We have a liberal Republican governor who has had to bow to Democrats on key issues.

We’re used to not slapping a party label on and going with it.

Count me in as a Californian who will not vote for Obama in November if Hillary is not on the ticket.

I live in California in the North Hollywood area, I don’t know anyone in my area who will vote for Barack Obama. I live in a rather mixed area mostly Hispanic, some African Americans, very few whites. I have not seen even one sign for Barack Obama. If Hillary isn’t the nominee I see no reason to support the Democrats in this Presidental Election. Even if they try to give Hillary the V.P. spot I won’t be able to vote for Obama. I think we will be alright with John McCain at the helm with a stronger congress and Senate. Hillary can run again.

California will be very competitive if Obama is nominated and if McCain chooses Jindal as his VP.

Just got off the phone with the National Headquarters.

Bottom line from the mouth of this gentlemen Hillary is going all the way to the convention. Period.

Well the thing is, they are (finally…) starting to do general election calculus. They know that right now the only thing McCain has to do park his bus in southern Ohio and make occasional trips elsewhere, and then Obama can’t win the election in any circumstance.

From a campaign spending POV, as of now, McCain can run several small adds in must win Obama states, and Obama has to spend all his money in national adds to try and find a state which he can gain some traction, that he doesn’t already win. (Sorry Iowa and Missouri are not enough…)

It certainly appears, this year with the electorate tired of Republicans, Obamas General election strategy will need to be all defense all the time, because of critical Obama weaknesses.

On the other hand, Hillary would be able to spend money in McCain must win states like Arkansas, Texas, North Carolina and Nevada. In a general election Hillary goes on Offensive, and only needs to spend money on blue states occasionally, because McCain will be spending his money on Defense.

It there were some other potential GE game plan, Im not seeing it. But I have tried, and just can’t see a game plan where Obama is on offensive. If the democrats can’t go on offense this year… when can they? Maybe they need to keep their powder dry a little longer?

I am gonna try and be neutral about this. But I don’t think Hillary would help Obama in GE. As VP candidate I don’t think North Carolina, Arkansas, Texas and Nevada remain in play, thus negating that whole advantage of playing Offense.

Hillary as VP (vp slot not as effective as P slot) would be used to shore up support in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virgina, and maybe, just maybe, put Virginia in play.

But still, you are playing defensive game, and now McCain is free to shore up states like Iowa and Missouri, and make a play for Michigan and Ohio. Obama would do better with Hillary as VP, but it is still not the certain electoral victory we should be looking at this year.

Obama needs to pick someone who can put Texas into play, and still play well in New Mexico, and Colorado.

I expect we will see a cultural elite (Kerry) or a Republican (Lieberman) as his running mate given the playbook they have been using so far…

I don’t think we will see those two personalities as potential veeps, just that whoever he chooses will be reminiscent of them… Richardson could be the man for the job… But Im just not seeing it…

Hillary as VP has one and only one advanantage. She would save the Democratic party.

Farrakan has also held favorable meeting with Qazwini (more in article linked above). A few months back, another Obama supporter, Rev. Eric Leeks of L.A. brutally verbally attacked a woman Jewish humanitarian on stage, before the full audience of a Martin Luther King celebration, where she appeared to receive an award. Also, urgently recommend checking the fine print on the legislation recently rushed through the House, under cover of night, and pushed through the Senate, already, according to news reports on May 22. This bill, ostensibly providing overdue Iraq military expenses, was attached with a rider, by Rep. Diane Fienstein. Rush approval brought bill to the Senate, with its rider barely examined, due to urgency of funding portion.

On Lou Dobbs, last week, strange rider was questioned by Republican Chair of the Armed Forces Committee, not only because it streamlines legalization of millions of illegal aliens, including those in the US less than a year. It’s most puzzling feature, according to above Senator is that it “fast track guarantees citizenship”, singularily offering quick “green card status” to a peculiar, select group of workers: “goat herders; sheep herders; and horse workers.”

May it be noted that there is only one part of the world that routinely employs these categories of workers: the Arab Middle East. Since when does the US have a need for these new ‘citizens”. I have checked several websites, where the specifics of this rider are not clearly understood. They are more generally being referred to as “agricultural workers”.

Evidently, it is too late to stop this legislation in the Senate but protests to Senator Liebermann, regarding the Homeland Security concerns caused by this rider may be helpful.

I’ve been reading this blog for weeks now & now I can speak something I feel strongly about. As an Asian-American in California, I feel that McCain can win CA IF Obama is the nominee. Most Asian-American families like mine (some Dems/Repubs, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Cambodian) are going for McCain if Obama gets the DNC nom. We just can’t stomach the guy (and it’s not a racial argument). Some of us come from 3rd world countries & his political style is definitely not alien to us. We love this country, and we will not let it get it ruined by politically & morally inept persons some of us the main reason why we left our countries for the promise of America) like Obama (. As citizens of this country, we cannot let this happen.

Really, Obama should get out now, and save steps. His lead mostly comes from caucus states, most of those being Republican or Republican-leaning states — that should not count as much as PA, OH, FL, MI, WV, and even KY (as WV and KY went for Bill Clinton at least one election apiece), and most especially not as much as CA!

Waxman is my House rep., too, and when I saw that he is endorsing Obama, I checked our congressional district’s vote. And, yep, Hillary won here by almost 5,000 votes. So, I called Waxman’s office and told him how disappointed I was in his support of Obama and that his district overwhelmingly voted for Hillary. I followed up with an email to him with my concerns about Obama’s affiliation with Ayers, Wright, Rezko, Auchi with copies of articles substantiating those associations.

I told Rep. Waxman’s assistant that I was proud of his investigation work, but that I was not going to support him in his next election. His assistant said he would pass on my comments, but I don’t think he really cares. Very sad and very disappointing.

My son works with many Latinos and they all support Hillary. They have told him that Obama can’t fool them with his rhetoric—they recognize a phony when they see one. McCain’s stance on immigration appeals to the Latino/Hispanic community, so with our high Latino community here in CA, it is very possible that CA could go for McCain.

I wouldn’t read too much into this poll. Out of 834 residents interviewed, 705 were registered voters, main results were within the margin of error, 5 months out from the election. Not surprising that the LA Times (owned by Chicago-based Tribune Co., which also owns KTLA) would spin the hell out of it, they’ve been heavily pro-Obama in coverage. The numbers may pan out, but it’s way too early to tell.

Turnout will be hugely important. There will be a controversial ballot measure to ban gay marriage (again) which will draw out lots of conservatives.
