HEY LADIES—GET THE MESSAGE?

Written by: Mary Ellen of Bad Habit

Personally, I’m not one to follow the Hollywood gossip news, my life has enough drama in it so I don’t need to watch it on TV. So, why am I bringing them up in my post? I’m doing it to show there seems to be an ongoing message being sent to women by our court system. In Rhianna’s case– her abuser, Chris Brown, struck a “plea bargain” and managed to get away with beating Rhianna severely about the face and threatening to kill her, and received only five years probation. Of course, anyone who isn’t brain dead could see that justice was not served in this case. But then again…when it comes to women being beaten and threatened by men, is it ever served? I’m beginning to wonder….

On the front page of the Chicago Tribune this morning, the headline of the day…

“HE GETS PROBATION–SHE FEARS THE POLICE”

As the story goes, a woman named Karolin Obrycka was a bartender who had a run in with a Chicago off duty police officer, Anthony Abbate, who was drunk and went after her because she refused to serve him any more liquor. Apparently he took offense at that so he hurled her to the floor and started kicking and punching her. Mind you, Karolin is a petite young woman and Anthony Abbate is a burly guy who looks like he could snap a tree trunk in half without much effort. Just in case you don’t remember, here’s a reminder:

Karolin had her day in court, and as is often the case, the our court system let her down. Karolin no longer works in a bar because she fears that something like this will happen again. She said, “If I ever go back to bartending, the owners would have to be there all the time.” Karolin was also affected by this beating in other ways, she’s afraid of the police because they might be friends of Abbate’s who want to take out retribution on her for having the nerve to press charges against him. She realizes that fearing all police is “not rational” but as she stated, “I know they don’t want to hurt me, but I have fear.”

The judge in this case, Circuit Judge John Flemming, decided that Abbate shouldn’t get time because Obryka didn’t suffer “serious injury”. During the trial, Abbate’s lawyer, Peter Hickey, blamed Karolin for the incident. Of course! It’s all her fault that she was following the law by not serving someone who is already drunk, more liquor! So…Abbate get’s off virtually scott-free and Karolin Obryka gets to live in fear of the police and fear working as a bartender. Circuit Judge John Flemming feels that Abbate has already “been punished enough for his act of stupidity”. Judge Flemming also opined, “He went out and got himself so drunk that he got into this position and ruined his life.” I guess the fact that the woman he beat up is living a care-free life now, eh?

The Chicago Police are just as guilty of adding to the unfair treatment of women who are abused by men…they tried to charge Abbate with only a misdemeanor…that is until the video of the beating came to light.

Moral of the story: It’s ok to beat a woman, just don’t punish the guy for doing it…it’s not his fault he did something “stupid”.

OH, BUT IT DOESN’T END THERE!

Another story in the Chicago Tribune (hidden away on page 10), shows what happens when guys like Abbate are given a pat on the back and sent back to the good ol’ boys club.

NAPERVILLE: “MAN ACCUSED OF BEATING GIRLFRIEND”

For those who aren’t familiar with the Chicago metropolitan area, Naperville is a suburb of Chicago and happens to be the town I live. It seems that a man, Darron Richard who is 38 years old has been charged with “domestic battery” for, as the paper states it…”striking a 42 year old woman”. That’s putting it mildly, believe me. The woman is now in a coma and on a ventilator and has a 50-50 chance of living. If she does live, the chances are that she is so brain damaged, she will not live any type of a quality life. This whole thing came about when she and Richard had an argument and he “beat her with his fist, knocking her to the ground, unconscious.” Afterward, instead of calling an ambulance, he picked her up and put her in bed where she remained unconscious until Sunday when a family member “convinced him to take her to the hospital.” I guess the family member didn’t think it was necessary to call the police or to call an ambulance themselves…because, you know…this was just another one of those “stupid” things that happens in society. No big deal, she’s just another woman who needed to be put in her place.

Is Darron Richard in jail? Nah…bail was set at $750,000. Believe me, if you live in Naperville, that’s not a lot of money to dig up. Oh…and just another note to add to this story. Richard had previously been in prison on a battery charge before being released in April. So, of course! Give him bail on another battery charge!!!

Just a few beatings…no harm, no foul. Except…another headline in the Chicago Tribune this morning:

LIFE IN PRISON FOR BRUTAL KILLING OF WIFE

In the Chicago metropolitan area of Harwood Heights, a man, James Pender, will spend the rest of his life in jail (not the death penalty) after bludgeoning his estranged wife to death with a large hammer on a River Forest sidewalk. Therese Pender, the victim, had filed for divorce and had an order of protection against James Pender (which we all know is nothing but a piece of paper that gives a false sense of security).

James Pender didn’t care about the order of protection, he took a Metra train to River Forest and waited in Keystone Park with a brief-case containing knives, a large hammer, a ski mask and other items. When he saw Therese walking down the sidewalk, he took the hammer and grabbed her arm and “tapped” her on the head. When she screamed, he hit her multiple times in the head. Moments later, she lay on the ground with her head surrounded by “wounded brain tissue”.

The reason that the Judge gave this guy life instead of a death sentence….Pender had “a long history of having narcissistic and antisocial personality disorder.” According to the Assistant Public Defender, Preston Jones, “The death penalty is reserved for the worst of the worst, James Pender is not that.” “He is a 57 year old pathetic man….it doesn’t mean you kill him.” Just a pathetic old man….no problem.

The Court System in this country continues to give guys like Chris Brown, Anthony Abbate, and Darron Richard all the breaks they need, until they kill someone…a woman, and then they will be sent away because they aren’t “the worst of the worst”. What is the message that is being sent to women in this country? Answer: Women don’t deserve justice until they are killed…and even then, justice is not guaranteed.

Did you notice how little press the woman beheaded in NY by her husband got? I guess it was his right as a muslim to behead her because she filed for divorce. We’ll see what he gets but people still think I’m making this story up because it was buried in the back of the newspaper and most “tee-vee” media either didn’t cover it or it was an “in other news” story that largely went unnoticed. Where is the outrage from the largest majority in this country?

  • Diana L. C.

Thanks for keeping the spotlight on this imbalance in the way “justice” is meted out in our society. It’s a depressing way to start the day. That photo of the big guy wearing that “funny” t-shirt, should bring out th Lorena Bobbit in us all.

  • jbjd

The Boston Globe prints a list every years of victims of domestic violence. Most victims are women; most perpetrators are men. But this same newspaper endorsed for POTUS the man who gave the finger to HRC; who celebrated his caucus win over her to the tune of Jay-Z’s “I’ve Got 99 Problems and a Bitch Ain’t One”; and who, when bested by this same woman in a nationally televised debate, symbolically brushed her off his shoulders and wiped her off his shoes. Now, this same man proclaims the virtues of women in veils, ignoring how many women cannot wear these, having been beheaded for ‘dishonoring’ the men who ‘own’ them.

    BO has made misogyny ‘elegant.’

Fully half the blogs in this country are obsessing over the death of “Neda’ in Iran. Such terrible things happen there, don’t they?

And yet without much difficulty you can find examples of women in this country being murdered and beaten every single day. Where is the outrage about that?

And if Neda had been an old woman with grey hair and a missing tooth or two, would anyone have cared that she died?

I am sick to death of hearing about the death of Neda in Iran when women in Illinois and Oklahoma and Rhode Island and on and on are dying without the same damn outrage.

Rest in piece Neda. Your death was a tragedy. And rest in piece Therese in Harwood Heights, Illinois, your death was a tragedy too.

Don’t forget about the children in the family court system. Many children are given to the abuser and the protecting parent gets blamed for it all. The protecting parent frequently loses custody and sometimes all visitation.

    http://courageouskids.net/

  • GODZILLA!

I am a proud Misogynist. I hate child abuse, and women are the MAJORITY of child abusers. I have no problem with someone abusing, or taking the “rights” away from such a woman who does that. I would wish to “oppress” them. And even though there are mothers who don’t mistreat their kids, the mother over child is an power imbalance, in a world where we are supposed to recognize an imbalance in power, but only if it is men over women! We are not supposed to care if its women over men. I also don’t appreciate the double standard of having to care about women’s rights, when society doesn’t care about men’s rights. And I don’t appreciate any ideology that says that Men “run the world”. Most men do not, of course. Yes, There are 44 male presidents. And there are millions of men dead in wars, and homeless men. Which is a greater indicator of how most men are doing? I thought so.
And the justice system is a corrupt system, including the lawyer profession. But, again, unfortunately this system was created ENTIRELY by white men. If it were up to women, and there were no men, we would all be living in caves, and tents. But lets get back to talking about abusive women who abuse and kill their kids. Lets talk about Susan Smith, Andrea Yates, or others. These women don’t “protect” their damn kids! From Men!! I wish to vilify the “good name” of motherhood, until I can find those who aren’t punitive. Yikes! And We can talk about Mary Winkler, getting away with murder! NOT JUST MEN HERE! Guys need To be liberated from this country!!!SO GET LOST!!!!!!!! FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GODDAMN IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Exactly right, jbjd. I have done a lot of work in DV, and keeping a list of all of the women killed by their batterers was part of that. It is staggering.

The self-proclaimed misogynist below doesn’t understand that we HEAR more abt the women who commit child abuse – how many people heard abt the guy in my state, the teacher, who molested his student, or the repeat offender who raped a 4 yr old girl, and got off with a 1 yr sentence? Exactly. The MSM focuses on these kinds of crimes by women, but NOT the ones by men.

    GREAT POST, Nunly!!!

  • creeper

So, GODZILLA!, I would guess your mom wasn’t exactly June Cleaver.

Neither was mine. But nothing she did to me begins to compare with the emotional damage of having been raped at the age of nine by a teenage boy.

  • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com sarainitaly

and who are those assholes in the bar that just sat and watched?

    it is outrageous, isn’t it.

as I am writing this, they are showing cliips from mThe Burning Bed. Sadly, that’s what it takes for a lot of women to escape…and then they end up in prison. Just ask Betty Broderick.

  • connie

This has happened to my daughter and her children, it has been devastating to the kids, my daughter and the rest of the family. I have been looking for someway to find someone that can help. We have even call the Child Abuse hotline, there response, they don’t get involved in child custody cases.

  • NomNomNom

    “when society doesn’t care about men’s rights.”</em
it’s a little early in the morning to be doing drugs, you might want o go take a long permanent nap somewhere like a freaking cave that will be submerged when the tide comes in.

  • GODZILLA!

Been raped at the age of nine by a teenage boy IS terrible! If that happened to you, my sympathies… But the emotional damage of being beaten and excessively punished by one’s mother is up there, too. But I’m more mad at a entertainment media and politicians that treats Men as a group as being Satan, while the politicians grovel over Women’s issues/groups, ignoring any real Men’s issues Completely. The (Feminist) N.O.W. organization defended Andrea Yates, Obvious child killer, calling her a victim only, saying she should not been made to stay home with the kids. (That was her choice, No one made her be a housewife. No Law made her stay home) But Imagine if a Men’s group, covered by the media, defended a father who killed his kids. (fortunately There isn’t one) We would never have heard the last of that one! This is what most of today’s “Feminism” is like. (not equality) Today’s progressive, “feminist” politicians: Obama, Hillary, Edwards, etc. had funded Bush’s illegal war, and are for fewer civil liberties…… I say NO THANKS!!!!
If you think this country’s GOVERNMENT (not your neighbor, for example) is about real Misogyny excess, I’ll send you a one-way ticket to Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia. I think you’ll change your mind! Or I’ll send you to a country that has NO houses, only caves, with bugs crawling around you, (the kind you would have if no men had ever existed). You will probably be begging for a ticket back here, if you survive that kind of place to begin with…

  • I’m a Linda too

Oh yes and some Democrats show their colors more and more every day.

“Too bad,’’ Kerry said, “if a governor had to go missing it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.’’

Senator John “kerry was telling a group of business and civic leaders in town at his invitation”

    http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/view/20090624john_kerry_says_wrong_gov_missing_for_four_days/srvc=home&position=0

As tasteless as that is, it show Democrats 1, are hypocritical and play in the gutter and 2, they are scared to death of Governor Palin. lmao

  • sandi78

Yuy know about Betty Broderick? My heart just aches for her. What a travesty.

  • Mountainaires

GREAT BLOG POST. Painful, hard-hitting, and brutally, horrifically true. It’s a systemic problem, equally rampant in upper classes, middle classes, and lower classes of economic society, too. And, in macho cultures like the military and police, it’s particularly rampant.

It is a complete travesty; a nightmare; a horrific truth about our culture that people refuse to do much about.

These “probations” and judicial rulings about “stupid” acts–they are ASSAULTS–are really a crime themselves in my view.

Let’s face it. Women are devalued in our culture, just as they are in Islamic culture. We may not be forced into slavery, but our lives are at risk nonetheless.

Assaults and attempted murders are judged differently if there is a personal relationship involved? I didn’t think the American justice system recognized the French concept of “crimes of passion.”

Perhaps if we had more women judges????…..

After witnessing what they did to Sarah Palin’s infant this morning I am done, done, done. I will never go back to the Democrats again. Go take a look at how they photoshopped her infant and the comments they’re making on it.

If I ever hear another Democrat claim that Republicans are the party of hate I will spit in their face and I never spit. They are the party of hate/hatred. There are no more progressive, liberal people left in that party. They’ve moved on.

It’s OK to be racist if you’re a Democrat. It’s OK to be anti-gay if you’re a Democrat. It’s OK to be abusive if you’re a Democrat. It’s OK to have no human compassion if you’re a Democrat. It’s OK to be misogynist, to abuse women if you’re a Democrat. It’s OK…

Yesterday, I hear Obama say that his health care plan is good enough for you and me, but not his family. Then this morning I see Trig photoshopped to look like some kind of monster and that is funny to them. I can’t believe some of the hate filled comments on it. An innocent infant, now what if that were Obama’s children? Do Republicans now have an open door to do that to his children?

I heard the hate comments directed at those children and Chelsea during the primaries. To both Hillary and Sarah. I made the correct decision in becoming NON. Here I will stay and from now on I will hold whomever I vote for Democrat or Republican feet to the fire on what they say and do. I’m sick of the division and the hatred.

That’s why Nicholas Sarkozy of France wants to BAN the damn naquib/HIJAB, whatever the hell it is called. Women and girls are being FORCED to wear it and teenaged girls like AQSA PARVEZ of Canada was murdered by her perverted “Father” while the mother and brother condoned it!
She was a beautiful teenager who had left home to live with friend to escape harassment (perhaps incest as it’s accompanied frequently with fathers who are ‘jealous’ of their teenaged daughters) and beatings by her brother and father.

Honor Killings of Muslim girls for refusing to wear the Hijab, like Aqsa, are a dime a dozen.
Barack Ozero’s speech in Cairo was timidly veiled contempt for women who have no use for his “giving the right to muslim girls ot wear the hajib”. Who gives a stool? It’s the beatings, the incest, the harassment, the taking away of the girls’ liverties in Canada, America, and Europe.
But Sarkozy is hte only one to take action! Obama wants to show his contempt for Sarkozy by saying in his speech “We don’t make laws to forbid women from wearing the headscarf”. Right, moron! Translation:
In the States, we allow beheadings of wives and murder of young girls for not wearing the hijab. We are not backwards muslim-haters like Sarkozy’s French muslim haters”…..

Amy Suskind’s The New Agenda organization is trying hard to get the message out on “domestic” violence and that directed agaisnt girls. Yes, the world’s biggegst minority is asleep at the switch…
Media whores give more attention to Pedophile Jackson’s death (saving hundreds of boys from his predatory sleep-ins!) than to violence against Women!

  • mary

    Excellent comment. Thanks!
Periodically, The Messiah will feel down and start launching attacks agaisnt women and girls to boost his real Agenda….Now, his claws are busy tearing down Main Street to allow the Wall Street banksters to steal trillions. Meantime, $700B for expanding war in AFganistan/Pakistan where he’s renting their army to go kill their people! The drones are killing innocents by the dozens. Not reported. Three million homeless refugees in northern Pakistan. Not reported.
Obummer got his additional $106B supplemenht WAR Funding. With practically no objection from the “democratic” congress.
Half the $700B military budget would have erased the deficit almost by half….Shame on this Liar-In-Chief! Supporting his evil cousin Odinga in Kenya to push his anti=women Sharia Law in that poor country was Obama’s other great accomplishment. The Fraud is now free to pursue his misogynist, warmongering Bankster-friendly agenda! And no Universal Health Care Plan. He kicked the protestors out of Congress!!! Very “Democratic”, ain’t He?

    GODZILLA

Why don’t you go joing the MISOGYNY CLUB in the White House.

Now, you got your Prez! Don’t cry in our soup, neanderthal boy!

    P.S.
How many soldiers have dies in the Iraqi war?
How many women have died in the hands of murderous MEN?
Do the Math! Then buy a Burqa….

  • Peggy Sue

Or the two young Muslim sisters, the Said sisters, murdered in Texas by their father for “being too Western”.

The data is out there yet little is done to bring the numbers of violence against women down, as DD illustrates with the three gruesome examples she provided.

According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, women experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes every year. And boys who witness a father’s abuse are 10 times more likely to repeat the behavior in their own lives.

And yet, when women point to these stats, we’re considered whiners, making a montain out of a mole hill. Or when we object to filthy names hurled at women, we are being overly sensitive, not being a “good sport.”

    Pretty sickening!

  • Attila

    Godzilla

You’d love a trip to Afganistan! Go plan it….

2.2% of all child abuse is by women.
95%+% of incest and child rape is done by MEN.

Woman battering is performed by MEN in 97% of the cases.

MEN RULE THE WORLD. SO, BE HAPPY YOU BELONG TO THE CULTURAL NAZI PARTY! Quit bitching, and go to Pakistan. The women will appreciate you more…

  • I’m a Linda too

    well said.

  • jbjd

Reading your passionate diatribe against women, I wonder whether this placates your furor over the men in your life who failed to prevent your abuse.

  • Peggy Sue

Well said, Attila. No one is saying that women can’t or don’t abuse children. But the frequency [2.2%] is dwarfed by the gargantuan percentage of men responsible for the same acts. Needless to say, if a child falls into that 2.2% the damage is the same.

But this is the same weary argument that’s always hurled at women who have the audacity to point to the numbers, whether it be rape, murder or child molestation. Men commit a disproportionate number of these crimes. And it’s a vicious cycle. Young boys who witness their fathers beating their mothers are 10 times more likely to repeat that behavior as adults.

This isn’t picking on men. It’s stating a problem that needs to be addressed, not swept under the rug or excused.

  • GODZILLA!

I’ve have met a lot a cool people from Pakistan.

“2.2% of all child abuse is by women.”

WRONG! Where are you getting your stats from?

Anyhow, The mother controls the household. Not all of them are abusive, but the kids better not cross their mom. There are jokes about this in society… Such as “If Momma aint happy, ain’t NOBODY happy!”.. Meaning mom has the power to make the family unhappy… How many “If daddy ain’t happy” stickers do you think they sell?
THe vast majority of Men DO NOT RUN THE WORLD! There are far more homeless men, injured-in-war men, and men on death row, then there are Men who are presidents, or millionaire CEO’s, who usually leave their trophy wife the riches when they die…

So most Men don’t the “privilege” they are said to have!

Where do you get your world view from?

I’ve seen “mothers” with their kids when I worked at the supermarket. Their kids are called “stupid”, and “obstinate”, and they’re going to get a smack when they get home.” I have every right to dislike these people!@

Obama is very flawed, and inconsistent, and often deserves criticism, but he is NOT a misogynist. He is often telling fathers not to abandon his kids, to take responsibility as a man, not to be a deadbeat dad. he doesn’t tell mothers this. He doesn’t have any programs for MEN specifically. There is a lot more where this comes from.
In addition, he has Joe Biden as Vice President. He possibly leads the men baiters club. God help us.

You seem to have a low standard for misogyny.

  • Waiting4Hill

MLK said- “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Abuse is wrong, illegal and immoral–the gender of the abuser is irrelevant.
I don’t believe any parent brings a child into this world planning to abuse them somewhere down the road. Neither do I believe that a man marries a woman with the intention of battering her in the future. People marry for many reasons–love, companionship, security, money, family, etc. I’ve never known anyone who married/had children because they wanted to mistreat them in the future. So, how/why does such horrible abuse happen?
I’ll leave that response to the behavioral experts. Personally, I was raised in an alcoholic household. My father drank to self-medicate his PTSD from WWII. Sober– he was a wonderful man. Drunk–out of control.
No child should grow up in someone else’s nightmare.
If children are raised with respect and taught to respect others, then perhaps as adults they will make better, more reasonable choices. Seeking help for one’s anger is the first step to solving a rage issue. We need to respect ourselves first–and not accept any excuses for our own bad behavior. We cannot alter our pasts but neither do we have to allow those events to control/destroy our futures.

  • politicalidentitycrisis

No they don’t. Trust me, I went through my own 8 year and $92,000 ordeal. I finally got full custody and proved the father had a personality disorder, but I’ve had to watch a very good friend try and help her kids and lose custody of her 2 young children. My friend was labelled bipolar for fighting for her kids, a label that a judge is not qualified to diagnose. She does not have this diagnosis in any medical or psychological records, yet the court has actually ordered her to get on meds. Well, no docs are going to give her meds because she doesn’t need them. The courts overstep in family cases.

What state do you live in?

  • Diana L. C.

Actually, GODZILLA needs serious therapy. I don’t mean that facetiously. The emotional abuse I had to endure for 18 years from my husband, I lay squarely at the foot of his own mother and a father who always found ways to excuse mother’s behavior. She was a major narcissistic, sadistic control freak. He could not get out of his love/hate/fear of women.

  • politicalidentitycrisis

No. In my opinion women judges are even worse than men judges. I think they like to stick it to other women because they want to survive in the Good ol’ boys club they try to work in. How they live with themselves is beyond me. My friend who had her children taken from her was a stay at home Mom when she and her husband separated. The court thought nothing of taking her kids away. Nothing. They have given them to an abuser because they didn’t like her tone.

  • politicalidentitycrisis
  • razzo

No Gozilla, lets talk about how misinformed you are.
Children under five are more likely (81%) to be killed by a “MALE” according to Bureau of Justice statistics. Also Mr. dumb ass 62% of all female victims are wives or intimate acquaintances of….
wait for it….”MEN” according to the Violence Policy Center of Wash D.C.
So take your insecure “the women are taking over the world” and “my mommy didn’t love me” attitude and stick it.

“The mother controls the household”. You have issues don’t you? You see women as having

Did your mother not protect you from abuse? I think you have “issues”. Perhaps you should seek help. Just a suggestion.

I personally know a woman whose judge took the word of her abusive ex-husband — WITHOUT ANY DOCUMENTATION — that she was schizophrenic. The abusive ex got full custody and demanded the (unemployed “schozophrenic”) wife pay child support!

Of course this is in Illinois, land of Lincoln, Obama and woman haters.

  • GODZILLA!

“as if there are no males involved.” In a lot of households I’ve seen, there ARE no males involved. Not the original father, at least. He was kicked out due to divorce, or the mother wanting him to support the family at work. Much of society sees the mom as the only true parent. It is strange to see a single dad with kids. It does happen, though. They don’t seem as welcome on the playground as the moms. If society wants men to be a nurturing stay-at-home dad, it has to do more to encourage that. It can’t use the government to discriminate against them, and expect positive results.

As far as my having “issues”, It seems like society has a double standard when it comes to this:

    Women having issues with MEN/
Needing liberation from Men: Good! After all, you are oppressed! Yes! Tell off the Patriarchy!
You Go girl! You don’t need a man to complete you! You’re Independent! You’re so much smarter than a man! You’re a liberated women, why you got here ALL by yourself! It’s terrible to be told you ever needed a man for anything! That in itself is oppression! GGRRR!

    Men having Issues with Women/
Needing liberation from Women: Bad! What’s wrong with you!? You should go to counseling… You’re not a REAl MAN, You are a Peter Pan, Grow up! You, as a man should jump at wanting to protect a wife and kids. Are you Macho enough to do it!?
Are you gay? Why are you not drooling over that model? She’s so pretty and smart, so make your needs subordinate to her’s. I mean, come on.

    See the difference?

I may have as many issues as the spinster that that lives alone with 15 cats, and believes all guys are there to oppress her, nut at least I’ll admit that. I don’t believe in the double standard.

Don’t see the difference at all, as your post is all about a supposed double standard that fits your philosophy. You need liberation from a woman and don’t want to be with her, just leave. That happens all the time; I don’t know anyone that would question youe masculinity.

I used to wear a t-shirt that said, “The more I know about men, the more I like my dog.” But at the same time I loved my father, brother, male counsins, grandfather, and many male fiends. I didn’t wear it long because after I wa finally away from the abusive man I married and the abusive court system, I could see clearly. There are good men and women, and there are bad men and women. But if you see the statisitics, more women are abused by men than the other way around. If it happens, though, as I pointed out, I can agree with you that the abusive man may have had an abusive mother.

Get some counseling–seriously. You’ll be happier for it.

There has been only one male commenting on this post (at least I’m assuming “GODZILLA” is a man). And this male (?) is completely uniformed and without compassion for the millions of girls and women who have been abused by other men and claiming he is justified in writing his hateful rant because his mother abused him?

Yes, white men rule the world and have since the beginning of recorded history. Non-white males in non-white populations control their societies. Not all men are economically or socially equal. GODZILLA has proven not all are intellectually equal, but if one is a member of an oppressed group it’s easy to identify the oppressors.

Anyone of either gender who abuses a physically weaker group is a bully and coward. The three examples you provided, DD, remind me of other examples when drunk drivers, brawls in bars resulting in death and abuse of animals are imprisoned for their crimes.

I’ll believe men care about the abuse and murder of women when they organize and publicly protest the behavior of the courts and law enforcement. When they actively boycott and ostracize the sports, music and entertainment industries which exact no punishment for violence against women, we will win this fight.

as far as i’m concerned, when a smaller person (male or female) is being attacked by a larger person, they have the right to use any weapon necessary to defend themselves. i wish she would have blown the mother f*cker away right there; of course *she* would have spent a long time in jail for having the audacity to defend herself, meanwhile he gets off with a slap on the wrist.

Sorry… forgot to say great post – can’t wait to read your next one!

It’s the same way in MN. If a woman stands up against abuse, she is labeled mentally ill!

“Children under five are more likely (81%) to be killed by a “MALE” according to Bureau of Justice statistics.”
You believe Bureau of Justice statistics? What a joke. The government has been covering up infanticide by mothers for a long time, lumping it in with crib death, and other causes. Also, if mothers are not convicted of killing their kids, it doesn’t get recorded with the stats. Since the “injustice” system is pretty hard on men, and more likely to convict them of that kind of killing. Also, the “violence policy center” has a real axe to grind..Razzo, What are you believing the government for, anyway!? hahaha
