Andrew Sullivan’s Reckless Cruelty to “white trash concupiscence”

(bumped up from Friday) Today, the NYT published a column noting the same phrase from Andrew Sullivan – “white trash concupiscence” – and calling it a class issue. Worth the read.

Yet another article on Trig Palin and “who’s his mommy” from Andrew Sullivan caught my eye (and I’ll need antibiotics). No one cares. No one not insane actually believes Trig is some mystery baby. And Sarah Palin isn’t running for vice president anymore.

Sullivan seems to think he is “due” an explanation. BS. He thinks Palin should produce records, pictures or perhaps very special election 2008 episode of A Baby Story.

Palin owes this schmuck exactly bupkis. Who is Sullivan to demand “proof” of maternity? The father? No. Anyone important to Trig’s life, or any other Palin? No.

Do a search of “trig” on Andrew Sullivan’s blog at The Atlantic. You’ll get “about 421 results.” (Second time I searched, I got 536, but we’ll go with the lower number.) Given Sullivan’s obsession about Trig Palin and his birth, it’s hard to believe 421 doesn’t actually represent 421 separate articles, although I’m sure there’s a few duplicates in the list. Reading the overwrought supercilious tripe is painful in the extreme. How many articles has this loser devoted to an infant, not his own? Hard to tell without reading each one and I definitely don’t have the stomach for that. But here’s a sample of a few brief “bullets” or teasers about articles available if you search on “trig” at Andrew’s blog.

From 8/2008

Where has Bristol Palin (far right, holding Trig, with a ring on her wedding finger) been for the past year? Has she been attending high …

From 9/2008

Now all we need is confirmation from the obstetrician who delivered Sarah’s baby

From 10/2008

But for some reason, Trig Palin’s name is not among them. … So why is there no formal record of Trig’s birth? This is not an “unspeakable” …

Here’s a longer sample of Andrew’s Atlantic-worthy writing – from 10/2008:

Now, when are we going to get some record of Trig’s birth and parentage from the hospital or the doctor? It’s been over a month now and still nada. Some basic record confirming Palin’s eight-month special needs pregnancy, amiocentesis, labor and birth would be immensely easy to find and release – even off the record – to news organizations. And yet the McCainiacs refuse to even go near it and demonize anyone who dares ask for something that must be extremely well documented and easily found. They have stated on the record that Sarah Palin is Trig’s biological mother. But they refuse to provide one iota of confirming evidence.

I mean: what’s the problem here? Why is this so hard?

And no, I haven’t let the basic issue of accountability and transparency go. Never. It’s my job.

From 10/2008

… must be plenty of medical records and obstetricians and medical eye-witnesses prepared to testify to Sarah Palin’s giving birth to Trig. . .

Wait! There’s more:

Again, that was in August. It is not an answer to call bloggers “insane” because they are asking factual questions to which there must be evidentiary answers. (Yes, as Ed Morrissey notes, Biden, McCain and Obama have been bad on this as well, and this blog has criticized them for it, especially Biden where I’ve been relentless, given his aneurysm history. But only Palin has offered nothing at all. And only Palin has a core question of basic credibility at stake. Only Palin has used her medical history – her fifth child – as a campaign plank.)
————-

Why does Sarah Palin refuse to prove that her baby – the baby that has been a campaign prop for two months – is actually one she gave birth to?

From 11/2008

All she had to do was arrive at the scene with her son Trig to … So Trig was the critical presidential qualification for the theocons. …

Sullivan thinks Palin was chosen for the ticket strictly because she didn’t abort her Down-syndrome baby. Of course, if she wasn’t the mother. . . But. Oh nevermind.

From 12/2008:

Here’s the latest photograph of her “pregnant” with Trig at. … Sarah Palin still has not established, and refuses to establish, Trig Palin is her child.

Here’s more writing worthy of a job at a national publication and tv.

From 12/2008

. . . Neither [another writer who disagrees with Sullivan about Sarah being Trig's mother] nor I have baldly asserted something we cannot know for sure: that Trig Palin is Sarah Palin’s biological son. Our difference has merely been that he assumes that the Alaska governor is telling the truth and sees all the circumstantial evidence as very compelling backing for her maternity (as has almost everyone else in the MSM). For my part, I have always clearly conceded that that is perfectly possible, but that the bizarre chronology and facts in the public record raise enough questions that a simple piece of easily produced evidence should have been produced to end the issue at once. The facts of the case and the refusal to defuse it was enough to prevent me from assuming that she was the mother.. .
——–

As I said months ago, Trig is a human being as precious as any other. That he was not aborted is a noble, moral, beautiful act. Who his biological mother is, at this point, is much less important than that he has a loving and caring home, and it seems as if he has. What remains important in the larger scheme of things – and why I continued to ask pesky, awkard (sic) questions – is a press that is not afraid and not deferent (sic) to elected officials and not more worried about its own reputation than about flushing out the truth. I failed to do that beyond a shadow of a doubt. But I tried. And if the truth does definitively emerge, I will maintain my commitment to bring it to you.

Awwww. He’s just a good guy trying to do his job!!! Right?? Well, he surely doesn’t bear personal ill will, he just wants the truth for all of us. To save the country, after all.

From 12/2008

This deluded and delusional woman still doesn’t understand what happened to her; still has no self-awareness; and has never been forced to accept her obvious limitations. She cannot keep even the most trivial story straight; she repeats untruths with a ferocity and calm that is reserved only to the clinically unhinged; she has the educational level of a high school drop-out; and regards ignorance as some kind of achievement. It is excruciating to watch her – but more excruciating to watch those who feel obliged to defend her.

No, Andrew, what do you REALLY think?

Her candidacy, in short, was indefensible. It remains indefensible. Until the mainstream media, the GOP establishment, and the conservative intelligentsia acknowledge the depth of their error, this blog will keep demanding basic accountability

Don’t forget, Andrew’s blog is an irony free zone.

My point is not to persecute or hound some random person. I wish I had never heard of Sarah Palin. I wish this nightmare had never happened. I wish totally innocent by-standers, like Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston and Heather Bruce and Trig Palin, had not had their lives disrupted by this circus. It’s distressing to everyone, which is why most journalists left many aspects of this charade alone. But Palin is claiming vindication, is on every cable show, is at the National Governors Association Conference, and is touted as a future leader of the GOP. There comes a point at which you have to simply call a time out and insist that this farce cease and some basic accountability and transparency be restored to the process. Since no one else seems willing to do so, the Dish will stay on the case. So where are those medical records anyway?

Sullivan is upset Sarah Palin has the temerity to continue being the governor of Alaska and a public figure.

Yeah, I wish it were over too. But I can’t leave you with that, can I?

From 5/2009

But given this blog’s coverage of governor Palin’s various strange stories about Trig, and her continued refusal to provide any medical records to confirm …

From 06/2009

But the more her pregnancy with Trig becomes a campaign platform, … The truly bizarre circumstances surrounding Trig’s birth. …

So we come to June, 2009. Election is over now by what? Nearly 7 months. But Sullivan is still enraptured by the womb. . .

As the months have gone by since John McCain revealed his total cynicism and contempt for America’s national security by selecting one Sarah Palin to be a potential vice-president of the United States, we have learned that every single ghastly attribute we discovered in the campaign is worse than we thought at the time. The narcissism, the pathological and incessant lying, the viciousness, the delusions of grandeur, the vindictiveness, the fathomless and proud ignorance, the opportunism, the vanity, the white trash concupiscence and fraudulence in almost every respect: these are now indisputable. How an advanced democracy came that close to having this farce of a candidate running the most powerful country on earth reveals how deep the corruption of our politics and especially our media are.

Unfortunately, Sullivan promises another article on Palin at the end of the foaming-at-the-mouth rantarama above. But something about that bit catches the eye, doesn’t it?

White trash concupiscence. You know, I think THAT may be the key here. Andrew is nothing if not bothered by Palin women and their children. Maybe he only likes women safely past menopause. Either way, “white trash concupiscence” is quite telling. But not about Sarah Palin.

Luckily, others have tried to explain to Sullivan that he’s an idiot. But it didn’t take. I won’t waste time putting together another set of reasons why trig-truther Sullivan is an idiot. But someone at the New Ledger did make a few points worth noting:

Rarely in human history has a gay man been that obsessed with a married woman’s vagina.
————
Behold Andrew Sullivan, a man who contains infinite contradictions: A believer in privacy, except a woman’s medical records, who never seemed upset that his preferred horse in the race released nothing besides a one-page “All clear!” note from his doctor; an opponent of the objectification of homosexuals, who objectified at least one, and arguably two, children; a professional journalist with a boundless understanding of not only applied medicine, but also hospital protocol and the art of diagnosis by news clipping and photograph.

Sullivan reminds me of someone. Someone dogged to find and root out that which offends him personally and which he feels is an existential threat to our country. Someone with a presence and a reasonable request that someone else produce “the truth.”

Someone quite assured he’s the smartest man in the room. Someone equally smarmy. Yes, exactly right.

Luckily someone else once had an appropriate response to a self-blind yet self-aggrandizing, rationalizing schmuck overly obsessed with what he saw as other people’s wrongdoing.

Reckless cruelty. Sounds right to me.

  • felizarte

If only he would apply that same ferocity in demanding Obama’s birth certificate. I think Sullivan is threatened by an attractive woman like Palin who has common sense, speaks the language of everyday Joe and Jane and succeeds quite well in a male-dominated role. Too bad for him because Palin’s not going away any time soon and may be around even more in 2012.

I dont recall sullivan going after hillary for her and vince fosters love child, Chelsea…..amazing

Lady, I’ve been having the same problems posting all morning, but it’s probably due to the high volume of posters. BTW, Indies are very welcome here!

      • trixta

It’s always about Clinton with you, Mark. This thread is about Sullivan’s attack on Palin and her family.

    • http://rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

That’s exactly what I was thinking – why isn’t he as focused on OBAMA’S lack of records???

And, what an incredibly illogical man. First, he tries to claim that Trig ISN’T Sarah’s son, then claims that because she had him, she was picked for the ticket.

Wow. Someone PLEASE explain to me WHY this man has a job writing?????

      • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ American Girl in Italy

Excellent point! He is a hack.

And, what the heck does Trig have to do with anything? Sullivan is considered a credible guy, and is given a *legit* platform to push the Trig Truthers agenda, but the *birthers* are considered insane whackjobs.

The questionable eligibility of a presidential candidate is a very worthy topic.

the womb of a former VP candidate, in which a disabled child resided?? not so much.

Sullivan’s just pissed because he was SO sure Trig was Willow’s, but her own pregnancy proved that impossible, so he has to find some other theory.

Could it be that she delayed in telling anyone because disabled fetuses can result in miscarriages? Could it be that she was scared, worried?? Could it be that she drove all those miles to get to her own doctor because she had already given birth to four children, and knew what was happening with her own body/pregnancy. And that he was aware of her childs special needs?

And who the HELL is Sullivan to be criticizing anyone on how they dealt with a medical issue, when he placed advertisements offering himself up for unprotected sex – and he is HIV positive. THAT is reckless and irresponsible behavior.

        • oowawa

To alter a couple of words in Sullivan’s rant:

Now, when are we going to get some record of Trig’s Barack’s birth and parentage from the hospital or the doctor? It’s been over a month years now and still nada.

        • oowawa

It all kind of makes me want to write a folk song:

          Dirty ‘Drew,
          Dirty ‘Drew,
          Thrives on vomit-flavored spew,
          Advertised for a bareback screw–
          HOYK-PTOOOOO!
          Dirty ‘Drew.

        • trixta

Anyone who uses the epithet “white trash” is a bigot! Oh yeah, and the irony of it all is too rich for words. The Bots are running scared and they, like their effete king, are still campaigning — only now it is for the 2012 GE.

      • Ani

Andrew Sullivan will focus on President Obama’s records four yours from now, when he “determines” that Obama has been a huge disappointment and that he, Sullivan, has personally been lied to.

Then, on Bill Maher’s show, he will make another brave, self righteous mea culpa, just as he did in re President Bush. That is his pattern.

Just as sure as the sun rises in the morning, in the following election — either in 2012 or 2016, when Obama’s term(s) is(are) done, he will once again choose the wrong candidate to fawn over and support. He will then once again use the same vitriol against any and all opponents.

If anyone is waiting for this man to grow some self awareness, the wait will be a long and fruitless one, I’m afraid.

    • politicalidentitycrisis

This absolutely, ironic, leftist terror at the thought of a Palin Presidency makes me want to help her get elected!

Who was it who said, “Your perception is your reality”? Very true.

I am willing to bet that Palin would have no problem producing proof that she is Trig’s mother, long before Obama would ever produce his documents! The difference is that Obama’s citizenship issue does pertain to his eligibility to hold the office, whereas, Palin could have 50 children born to different parents that she was raising and as long as she had help in caring for all those children, it would have nothing whatsoever to do with her eligibility to do the job.

Haha. Lefties are really sick deranged individuals, well no, actually, they are a cult!

    • http://www.MyAllNaturalWeightLoss.com Suzie Q

Don’t you realize how ridiculous what you’ve just written is? If Sullivan is crazy for being obsessed with who the “real mother” of Palin’s child is then are you not crazy for being obsessed with Obama’s birthplace? There’s no real reason to think that Palin is not Trig’s mother just as there is no real reason to think that Obama was not born in Hawaii (as the state of Hawaii has confirmed.)

    • trixta

Excellent analysis, Lisa! Ironically, Sullivan voted for GWB who has never supported gay rights, yet hates Sarah who, btw, vetoed an Alaskan bill that denies benefits to the LGBT community. Sullivan also still supports Obama who supports DOMA, etc. Just goes to show that Sullivan’s hatred for this woman comes from a deep seeded misogyny.

Also, check this out. It’s a must read:

      “It’s Always Been About Trigg”

[....] “I do know why the left hates her so much. And it keeps coming back to Trig.

Yes, some people hate Sarah Palin because she doesn’t have the traditional pedigree, she isn’t one of them, she is too good looking to be taken seriously, etc. And yes, some hate her because they hate her religion, politics, blah blah blah. But that doesn’t explain the Sarah Palin hatred. It is so deep as to be pathological.

But it keeps coming back to Trig. [....]”

      • Tex-Mex Soup

I also believe its deep rooted misogyny for sullivan. I worked with a colleague who is gay and he always, always bashed Hillary Clinton but loved Bill Clinton and Sarah Palin although he supported the McCain/Palin ticket and does not like oblahma. I finally told him one day, you really don’t like women do you? You are very misogynistic in your attitude towards women in general I have noticed. He said well yes I tend to agree with men….. Of course not all gay men are misogynist but what an interesting coincidence in thought patterns.

        • Tex-Mex Soup

let me clarify just in case, he bashed Hillary and Sarah but loved Bill Clinton

          • trixta

Yes, Tex-Mex, I had a similar experience with a colleague. My mistake was to think that as a gay man he was an ally of sorts, but unfortunately, his misogyny came out in so many passive aggressive ways. In all honesty, Obama reminds me so much of him. It’s quite eerie. I think there are gay men who are political allies to women, and then there are those who abhor women. Sullivan is a prime example. (Of course, there are lots in between, but my point is that misogyny does exist in in some quarters of the gay community.)

    • trixta

      Excellent, Lisa!

    Sullivan is white trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jesslepp

Good analogy and loaded with social and psychological significance. (I’d put Keith Olbermann in the same boat. They’d have a great time together.) How come these people are allowed to publish and broadcast their hate speech???
I wish elections were truly about candidates’ understanding of the issues and their qualifications and experience as related to the job.

    • Betty

…wish elections were truly about candidates’understanding of the issues and their qualifications and experience as related to the job.

Me to but since we have the remnants of a free society anyone can declare themselves a candidate or pick the running mate of choice. So the “MULLAS” need another tool to ensure their GROOMED candidate wins and that tool is best exemplified by this man Sullivan’s writing.

Since the “MULLAS” are so against Sarah I think every man, woman, and child in America should be on her side. If only to see just what would happen if the “MULLAS” lost. Would we have the same rude awaking as the people in Iran? Or maybe we already had it and didn’t recognize it.

  • Elliott

“White trash concupiscence” pretty much says it all. This is simply more of his tactics to keep her “in her place”. How dare she be a governor. How dare she have several children like the “white trash” do because they have sex. How dare she speak in public and draw attention to herself. Mr Andy is on the edges of the elite and socially acceptable, thus he has to be twice as nasty to keep his place. Andy desperately must stay in the creative class, which means class warrior, to keep his gig writing “commentary” or he is just another well educated gay British guy running his mouth.

    • tminu

It’s just “breeder” envy (the term some militant gays use against heteros)

Why has’nt this barebacking fascist trash been deported??? Did’nt his visa expire already??

word. mr. sullivan is a nasty little prick who clearly has issues with women. he is like a gay version of bill maher. i’m sorry andy; if you supported Ozero for president, you really don’t get to talk about sarah palin’s qualifications for VP.

  • Papoose

Just wondering what Andrew thinks of Stanley Ann Dunham. That would be a very interesting article, indeed. He has a way with words.

    Word, Andrew?

    • trixta

He’d probably attempt a comparison between Dunham and the Virgin Mary, no doubt. After all, Obama is their beloved Savior.

  • Portia Elizabeth

I can imagine the zealous Mr. Sullivan lying awake at night, sweating and in panic mode because he cannot rest until he has done his God-chosen job to bring us the truth. What his fevered mind fails to grasp is that the truth we want concerns the fraud in the White House.

These Palin haters are becoming so tired and cliched. Their rantings are the verbal equivalent of garlic around the neck. They hope they can frighten her away with their vicious words and they’re too insulated to see the attacks have the reverse effect: a strengthening and coalescing of her supporters.

    • TooFunny

These Palin Obama haters are becoming so tired and cliched.

      • Ferd Berfle

Well, troll, in case you weren’t aware (dense as you apparently are) no one here hates That One–we just see him as an unqualified, unfit, dangerous neophyte. It is your kind we dislike as you add nothing but heat to a subject and no light. Try posting over at DailyKook or HuffnPuffPo.

        • Portia Elizabeth

Ferd, did you notice how, with the exception of “Obama”, he couldn’t manage a single original word? And of course, I’m being generous to say he used Obama as an original word since it’s probably tattooed on his forehead.

      • http://www.MyAllNaturalWeightLoss.com Suzie Q

Exactly! It’s so hilarious that these people can’t see that what they’re complaining about regarding Palin is exactly what they do to Obama. The irony is almost unbearable.

        • stodghie

suzie, i suppose i have to chase your sorry arse off again. i see you on here insulting people and calling names. you bring nothing to the table but your elbows.

        • kgirl1028

the two aren’t even in the same universe. Obama’s birth place is a constitutional eligablity. My bosses have every right to ask for my nursing licenses, but they can’t ask me for my fathers. Or are you too silly to understand that. Now go choke on some Koolaid. Cause this is much nicer than what i was going to write. Even if Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy it wouldn’t effect her eligibilty to be president or vice president inthe least, sure it’s dishonest, but in this new age of change, Obama lies everytime he opens his mouth, so who gives a damn about Sarah’s veracity. It also shows a courages mother who wanted to shield her daughter from humilation, obama lyin woud show an ego maniac who thought he was a bove the rules and the requirments ofa job and there for he lied about it.

Ps. to all the people who are still hanging in there to the democratic party, purge the party of things like this. I refuse to be in a party with a detestable creature like Suzie Q I mean fthey are so low if you cut her arm off she would them the’d grow another person. plese get rid of the flat worms.

Over at another well known blog, there have been 2 hit pieces on Palin in the last 2 days. These boyz are very afraid of a woman. Each piece also includes the standard Clinton derangement syndrome slipped into a paragraph or 2. Thats the clue. Its not about Palin. Its about the womenz. Sullivan is obviously jealous of Sara’s hot husband Todd. Thats the only explanation I can think of. Yea, we all can think of the obvious. That these boyz have not asked the same of their American Idol, Barry, who hasn’t let us see his records from his job as a legislator in Illinois, his school records, his birth certificate and on and on. I did comment to the writer on the blog mentioned that he should hook up with Sullivan this weekend for the 4th, they can have a great time dishing Palin’s kids, but I urged him to wear a rubber even though I know Sullivan will try to talk him out of it. I imagine I’m banned over there by now. Good thing I have 2 virus scanners.

Sullivan voted for GWB twice (I believe) and defended him throughout most of his presidency. He’s still a BOT even though BO is denying the LGBT community their human and civil rights.

All of this just goes to show that at very minimum Sullivan is a bad judge of character and a masochist at heart.

  • Lily

Andrew Sullivan thinks he is the smartest man in the room? Really!? He just gave every anti-Obamaite on the planet the best excuse possible for demanding Obama’s many sealed records…not the least of which is his original birth certificate, passports, student status, grades, criminal records, etc. Even the most unsophisticated political observer can smell the bs Sullivan is shoveling a mile away.

I just watched Psycho again the other night. Maybe Sullivan has a Norman Bates complex.

    • rw

Andrew Sullivan is more American Psycho (than Psycho), the novel written by gay author Bret Easton Ellis full of hate toward women manifested in rape, torture, genital mutilation, cannibalism, necrophilia.

Some kind soul needs to tell Brit Psycho Sullivan that a woman’s pregnancy is not a disease like Biden aneurysms, or whatever diseases Obama is hiding. Furthermore, Palin’s pregnancy is a private matter between her, her doctor, her husband…so the c-cks-ker needs to lay off Palin’s “woman issues”.

methinks Mr. Sullivan suffers from “womb envy”. He makes his self loathing way too obvious in his writing about Sarah to the point that I think he wishes his mother had aborted him.

  • yttik

Sullivan sure has a bizarre obsession. Somebody get that man some therapy.

I do kind of have to laugh, I mean it does get kind of funny watching this man critic Palin’s pregnancy and child birth. Not even a male doctor can fully understand the whole experience, but a gay male blogger declaring himself qualified to sit in judgment??? LOL!

I cracked up when he found out Bristol was pregnant. He didn’t miss a beat, he simply decided to dismiss science and common sense. Obviously Bristol gave birth to Trig while pregnant with another child. See, Sully really has womb envy, especially since Bristol obviously has two of them!

  • rw

Could adm. pls collect my post.

I don’t usually care if my post makes it, don’t think what I have to say is thattttt important. But, I have decided to make an exception with my replies when based against attacks on women politician targeting their woman qualities.

  • Texas Playwright

Tabloid trash rules the election year and beyond, and trash about women is way worse than trash about men. I’m a Boomer, R3 Amy, and even in my upbringing from sexist parents into the Civil Rights Era, Equal Rights Era and beyond, never have I heard, read or seen such misogyny.

We women must rally around Sarah, and Hillary, and all women of all backgrounds to stop these vicious attacks on our gender. We simply must.

  • Peggy Sue

I wonder if this recent spate of Palin trashing is linked to the shine coming off Obama’s faltering presidency. The Far Left is beginning to realize they’re in trouble. I read a string of comments over on The Kos the other night, and they know just like we know that the economy is “not” turning around, that the “green shoot” chant is empty and that if the downward slide doesn’t turn quickly, 2010 and 2012 will leave the Dems in the dust.

I agree that Sullivan’s comments border on the pathalogical. And it is a bitter irony that the records they demand from Palin [who isn't running for anything at the moment] were completely dismissed when it came to Obama [and he's the current Prez].

But there’s also a desperate flailing to all this viciousness, maybe even a misdirected anger. Palin’s an easy target and she can’t bring the powers that be to crush these potty-mouthed columnists.

Maybe what we’re looking at is a public koolaide withdrawal. Not pretty, whatever it is.

    • Docelder

The left is scared to death of Palin, which means they are scared to death of us, because Palin is one of us… real people. She is not a manufactured brand of a person pretending a real person is in there, she is as she appears to be. She can well hold her own. Let the far left have their fun. Censoring the far left is a trap. Censorship is censorship and it would lead us where we don’t want to be. This will work out in the end. Karma is our friend.

    • Seattle Moss

      Hello Peggy Sue,

the records they demand from Palin [who isn't running for anything at the moment] were completely dismissed when it came to Obama [and he's the current Prez].

The rules are going to change on Obama soon..

The treasure trove of information withheld from the public will soon be exposed as the tide turns against the Anti-American asshat.
I’m looking forward to the drip by drip leaks of college records and others that reinforce the coming concept that
      Obama is Ayers and Wright.

    • trixta

Yes, I agree Peggy Sue. Your comments are astute.

  • Seattle Moss

Andrew Sullivan is the Perez Hilton of Politics

Please release a post I have in the spam monster…
    Thanks

  • gianni

My goodness, what an asshole this Andrew Sullivan is. A queer misogynist of the highest order.

I tell you what Andy. Go hook up with Larry Sinclair. Over pillow talk you guys can talk about Obama’s closet bisexuality. Wouldn’t that be fun? Right up your alley.

    Asshole.

  • Patience

Maybe Sullivan is trying to endear himself to the Left. After all, he was initially a cheerleader for the war in Iraq. His irrational attacks on the governor may be an attempt to gain cred. Does the man have any sense of how foolish he seems by kicking a dead dog over and over again? He and his ilk keep trying to paint her as a hypocritical theocrat when evidence refutes it.

Palin is such a threat, with her rock star celebrity that rivals the POTUS’. The media thought they were done with strong women after they knocked out Clinton, so I was very glad Palin advanced to the national political stage if for no other reason than to draw out even more of the hypocrisy and misogyny the media denied they were guilty of. I can still remember her first appearance with McCain as she electrified the surprised crowd and promised to smash the glass ceiling. The inbred, small-minded circle of media elites have had their panties in a twist ever since.

I have to admit I sometimes find it a bit entertaining — seeing Letterman forced to finally give an earnest apology was great fun. Seeing Sullivan dig himself into a deeper hole is a riot! I can imagine him being carried away in a straight jacket one of these days. He’s totally lost it.

  • lorac

They just announced on Fox that Palin gave a news conference, saying she was stepping down as governor at the end of July. She said it’s so that she can be more free to do things which help the country, and the news people said she just did something with her Sarah-PAC, reopened it, or something….

    • oowawa

Don’t know what she’s up to, but I do know she’s not resigning so that she can go and hide from the mighty Andrew Sullivan and his pitiful ilk.

      • politicalidentitycrisis

She did mention that alot of money has been wasted with her trying to defend herself from these ethics violation lawsuits which cost the filer pennies and it costs her and the state millions! I am so sick of bots. It is independence day. If Sarah is smart she will start a new party, a party for the people and we will all declare our independence tomorrow with a declaration of war on bots! Not a whiney, what do we do war, either. No, way! It is now time for an in your face combat, do something, campaign of wills. The will of the people shall prevail and then we can ship all the bots of to Cuba since they love it so much!!!

        I’m so sad about Sarah!

  • lorac

I just posted a comment that Palin has announced she is resigning – I think maybe it went to spam.

  • Portia Elizabeth

I’m just gutted to learn that Gov. Palin is stepping down before her term ends. She has withstood so many attacks and with such unshakable poise. It sickens me to think how the left will gloat and take credit for it. Sullivan and his ilk must be ordering champagne by the case.

    Bastards, all of them!!!

  • Chris

She is smart to do this imo. She gets away from the constant attacks that threaten to undermine her job as Gov. which would hurt her in her campaign of the future. She also is honest and ethical and wants the best for Alaska. How many ego ridden governors ever thought that way? She’s right not to want to be a lame duck doing nothing for her people. Good move. Now she has many paths open to the national stage. Is it a risk? Yes. She will be slammed for quitting before her term ends. We shall see how it goes. I hope she continues to fight and gets to be a Pres. candidate in 2012. We need her desperately. What scares me is how all the gop/conservatives that seemed to be what we need are dropping off the radar for various reasons. Are they and/or their families being threatened somehow? I hope that Sarah continues to shine her light into the darkness of the future for all of us.

  • Martine

I am a lifelong left leaning Democrat. I just watched Palin’s announcement and this is one left winger who will not be gloating. For well over a year, the vicious bias of the MSM and the Democratic Party has left me speechless and furious more times than I could count.

I disagree with Palin on numerous issues, but she’s so right about the need for Americans to stand up and take our country back from the bias, activist press and special interests. Her appeal is broader and deeper than the press will allow us to know. Why else would they still be beating her up? She is smarter and more tenacious than she is portrayed and the public knows it. Pay attention America, the next POTUS just resigned as Governor of the State of Alaska.

    • Portia Elizabeth

martine — I so hope your prediction is right! I used to think of myself as a left-leaner. Funny how my party tilted when I wasn’t looking. Now I’m just another Democratic orphan who’s searching for a political home.

If Sarah Palin runs for any future office, I’ll be a supporter.

      • Portia Elizabeth

I just went to SarahPAC and donated. The two major parties can bite me.

        • Seattle Moss

          Yep!

          Sarah Palin’s the real deal!
The center has now shifted to protecting American core principles and traditions. It’s not about democrat or republican, but about who can protect my way of life and who will represent my culture and Judeo-Christian concepts which this country was founded.

This campaign will explosive as the party for freedom is up against the Marxist’s with an agenda to destroy America.
Near civil war could happen between those that are the producers and those that are the takers.

          Sarah represents the freedom movement!

I just bought 5 copies of
Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levin to distribute to ex drones finally waking up and realizing that they made the biggest mistake of their lives.

As gov. Palin quoted “it is not retreat it is advancing in a different direction”

I would quote our first POTUS.

“A government is like fire, a handy servant, but a dangerous master.”
            General George Washington

A salute to all those who put thier assess on the line for the Constitution of these United States.

            • Seattle Moss

              Hey Teak,
              Happy 4th to you,and your family…

The amazing thing that is happening now is that all Americans are having a crash course in the fundamentals of what this country stands for. The great history of protecting and expanding liberty in the face of tyranny. The constitution and the realization that we are just one generation from having our freedoms stolen from us.
People have woken up and ate petrified scared that change means the end of their way of life and all the freedoms they took for granted.
Sarah Palin represents the Freedom Revolution
and the diverse views of her followers with the one central goal of saving America and individual liberty.

Urgency is upon us and Sarah has been the lightning rod of the haters.
An attack on Sarah is an attack on me!

This really will be the battle of out generation…Our time has come!

              • TeakWoodKite

                In response;

Whenever, if ever, he and we can come together on principle so that our great cause may have assistance from his great ability, I hope to have interposed no adventitious obstacle.

But clearly, he is not now with us—he does not pretend to be—he does not promise to ever be.

Our cause, then, must be intrusted to, and conducted by its own undoubted friends—those whose hands are free, whose hearts are in the work—who do care for the result.

Two years ago the Republicans of the nation mustered over thirteen hundred thousand strong.

We did this under the single impulse of resistance to a common danger, with every external circumstance against us.

Of strange, discordant, and even, hostile elements, we gathered from the four winds, and formed and fought the battle through, under the constant hot fire of a disciplined, proud, and pampered enemy.

Did we brave all then, to falter now?—now—when that same enemy is wavering, dissevered and belligerent?

The result is not doubtful. We shall not fail—if we stand firm, we shall not fail.

Wise councils may accelerate or mistakes delay it, but, sooner or later the victory is sure to come.

                .
A Lincoln. excert of “A House Divided” speech, which in current terms gives new meaning to the meaning of slavery.

                • Docelder

He gave that speech without a teleprompter. More than likely he wrote it himself. Honestly, I don’t see where people get off saying that any of the recent presidents were anywhere as intelligent or for that matter eloquent as Lincoln. But yes, we find ourselves standing on a familiar path.

                  • Docelder

On second thought, the theme borrows from Matthew… so that is probably the reason Obama’s speeches lack the inherent wisdom of Lincoln’s.

  • Patience

Wow, look out sniveling, sneering media — she’s going for it!!! More power to her!!!

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Insofar as the debate about birth certificates, I think when Sarah begins her campaign for POTUS in earnest, she might counter Sullivan with “I’ll show you mine (and Trig’s too) if Obama shows his.”

Sarah knows that she has to continue to break the mold if she wants to be known as her own person. All the pundits coming out now don’t have a clue. It makes sense to settle the ethics complaints and not spend her time with the same target on her back for the next two years. She needs to write that book, set the record straight, continue appearances with the main stream and put her organization together. She does need some polish…just the rough edges. She needs to stay just as she is but speak in complete structured sentences and edit the cute mannerisms from her presentation. She can be funny without the mocking snarky expressions she sometimes hides behind. Yeah, the crowd may love the effect but I think it is beneath her and makes her constantly on the defense. The offense is where she needs to stay.

The guy on Fox right now is unbelievably (unless he is deliberately being provocative) stupid. We’ve already seen the earlier guy be corrected by Greta when he started down the “she has a child with special needs” road. I had exactly the response Greta spoke of…FU you clueless hack. FDR managed to be a great President in spite of his “special needs”.

Buckling to pressure? Ha. Success is the best revenge so she doesn’t want to waste her time on cretins such as Sullivan or sell-outs aka Washington Post (keep that one fresh for the campaign Sarah). They’ve savaged her to the point of making themselves irrelevant. After all, the community organizer spent his entire time in the state legislature phoning it in and running for President.

    • kgirl1028

Not even a poor fly looking for raw meat to it’s eggs on and happens to wander onset an interview with Obama isn’t below these freaks who want to prop Obama up. My biggest question has always been what do these freaks have to gain from denying thefact obama is destroying the country. The people he’s gonna bitch slap the hardest are the main ones with their heads in the sand. Oh well I’ve known for quite some time how illogical my fellow country men are. But it’s annoying as hell.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

Spam filter apparently in working order…sigh…

  • Seattle Moss

Now that Sarah has quit the Governorship A clear path can be seen for me to support Sarah in the same capacity that I supported Hillary.

    The campaign begins today!!!

    Happy 4th everybody!

    • Doocelder

Palin is proving she isn’t a politician, but a real person is in there. Myself, I hope she abandons the republican party and starts a new one… announcing it on Independence Day. Maybe tomorrow will see a new declaration of independence. Independence from the Demopublican current party system.

  • HARP

Sullivan proves once again that he is an anus and spits out the same quality material.

  • http://! stodgie

perez and andrew! what a pair of zeroes! they insult women, yellng, and hurling insults. i think back to those two guys in california who built that effegy of palin. talk about leftie hate! remember obama’s speech writer groping hillary’s poster? yeah i know sullivan claims his politics is otherwise, but i haven’t seen much evidence of clear thinking from him in a long time.

  • Betty

I think it is obvious what is going on here.
Andrew Sullivan is so filled with LUST for Sarah Palin’s husband he can’t think straight (ah ha ha).
He sees Sarah as a rival who must be destroyed at all cost. And blinded by the terrible heat of his concupiscence for Todd he thinks he can eliminate Sarah and win Todd.

I have to admit that I, myself, an old, old lady, really looked (and continue to look) forward to seeing Todd Palin on tv.

    • http://www.lesstalkmoreactivism.blogspot.com whoframedrudy

Betty, I think you’re on to something. Maybe Sullivan once fell desperately, pathologically in love with a straight man and blames all women for losing the love of his life.

It’s also possible that, like many neurotics, Andrew Sullivan hates his mother.

But please, above all, remember that Andrew Sullivan is not typical of gay men — at all!

      • morris1030

        The pathological part is correct.

I don’t think this guy can love anyone. He’s wired with hate and negativity and his inferiority complex is exhausting to watch.

He certainly is not typical in any way re: gay men. He’s a social loser to be sure, whose smugness is unbearable.

  • WMCB

Sarah gets the double whammy of both sexism and classism. It is as much her class status as her female status that makes them crazy.

For all their claims of being for “the little guy”, the left these days only really cares about the amorphous little guy that they can control and patronize. The poor in abstract are fine, because they can be graciously “given” support by the ever-so-enlightened creative class. The grateful poor are ever in fashion.

But blue-collar working people who really don’t want a damn thing from them but to be respected, left alone, and not gutted by the oligarchs? The ungrateful poor, who don’t give a rat’s ass for the benevolence of the Village, and may, perhaps, openly mock them? Them, not so much. Those people have to be destroyed, as they are fucking up the self-congratulatory savior-complex of the elite.

I am an old-school classic liberal, for the most part. I do believe in “promoting the general welfare, in some degree of social safety net, in govt and policies that are helpful to “the little guy”. And I believe that one does that by actually consulting that little guy (novel thought!), and giving the average American a voice of his own. But this is not what the current Left believes – not really. Their approach is more of a “Sit down and shut up and allow ME to tell you how I shall help you.”

Sarah flies in the face of every bit of that. She is not appropriately grateful, or appropriately cowed by their self-evident intellectual superiority. She is not ashamed of her state college roots, her working class sympathies, her hard and insignificant work in some podunk place that happens to be home. She is not ashamed of her averageness, and she is not ashamed of ours. She does not worship at the Shrine of The Benefactors of the Grateful Underclasses. She spits on their Ivy-league noblesse oblige.

Wrap all that in tits and a vagina, and she is their worst nightmare.

    • oowawa

I love this manifesto, WMCB. See you at the barricades.

      • Portia Elizabeth

Wow! Good to read your words WMCB!
You have summed it up beautifully!

  • TexasMirth

Now all we need is confirmation from the obstetrician who delivered Sarah’s baby

I have to ask, why does this guy even have an audience?

I hope Sullivan gets hit with a lawsuit that keeps him entangled in legal problems for years to come.

    • Tricia Spiegel

Yeah, he does have an audience–which is the scary part. I believe he won the WebLog award for “Best Something..” I’d give him an award for “Best Hate Speech.”

    • morris1030

Agree. I have no idea why he has an audience. Perhaps he attracts a kind of cantankerous group think. His base is fundamentally gay, but this creep can never figure out if he’s a conservative, or as he’s often said, “conservatively gay”.

He’s posing as the intellectual keeper of conservative ideology. And he always contradicts himself. Also he’s wired, tired, and over.

  • morris1030

Sullivan is a well known woman baiter/hater.

He is generally rude, crude, sarcastic, and loaded with chutspah. His negativity and pretentious affectations are a turnoff. His latest bit about Palin is absurd.

First, who cares? Then, this is no one’s business.
While I am opposed to her loopy rightwingnut positions, Palin has the right to her opinion.

Sullivan is irritating and uninportant, and I’ve seen him take off with a LOT of hate railing against Hillary Clinton. He’s an angry schmuck.
