The Moment of Truth

TO HILLARY AND BILL CLINTON:

I have written to you before and I post regularly on my journal: The Heraclitan Fire and at No Quarter

It seems to me that the fix is in, I think that Mr. Obama has already been chosen by the Democratic party ‘elders’ as their nominee. You know that this will be a disaster for the Democrats in November and will likely lead to John McCain’s election.

I know you both are lifelong Democrats and I know your first instinct is to help the Democrats , no matter how badly you have been abused. I am writing to you to ask you to consider another option.

The Democratic spinelessness and cowardice in regards to the Iraq war is spectacularly evident and Democrats are disgusted by the performance of Pelosi & Co. From what I am seeing and hearing there is a tremendous groundswell for creating a third party in this country. The time is right and you two are the perfect political team to do this.

I know you are hesitant about abandoning the Democrats but consider that they have been co-opted by Bill Ayers’ and Barack Obama’s New Bolshevik cadres. In fact there is no Democratic party any longer. What is left is a cult very similar to the cults that followed Hitler, Lenin and Mao.

Perhaps that seems a bit too far, yet we have all seen the skillful use of propaganda to camouflage lies, the selection of a scapegoat to blame all failures on, the incantations to belief that permeates the Obama ‘movement’ [sic].

The combination of power starved, ineffectual party ‘leaders’ – who have all envied your actual accomplishments, while they were never able to do anything; and the hijacking of the caucuses, the party apparatus and the threats and intimidation of party delegates; should all be indicators that something very, very bad is going on.

Indeed, I submit to you that the die is cast: the so-called Democratic party has been taken over by a group of far leftist/fascist radicals who are determined to foist their version of ‘democracy’ on the entire country.

You may think that I am being paranoid – and perhaps I am, nevertheless what is true is that the Democratic party no longer has a place for anyone named “Clinton”.

However, we who understand that, in the long run, substance trumps style; we who have waited – forever – it seems, for a candidate/party/zeitgeist that truly represents our fervent dreams. For us now is the moment, now is the time to rise up and declare ourselves, now is the point in the space-time continuum when we can grab hold of Archimedes’ lever and move the earth.

I would say that this is a “once in a generation opportunity” but it is not, this chance only comes along once in a hundred years or more.

Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton – you have the intelligence, you have the experience, you have the political knowledge, you have the influence, you have the organization and you have the will of the people.

I know it will be hard, I know it will take time you could be using for your own private lives, I know it will take treasure and dedication and fierce resolve… I know it will take much, much more than you ever expected to be asked for… but, nevertheless, I am asking – and millions of Americans are asking: Take us away from these false ‘democrats’ help us create, organize and grow a new, truly, democratic party. A party for people with brains and guts and sense – a party for Americans not fanatics, for Americans not bigots, for Americans not cowards.

We’re ready – we’re more than ready, only say the word and we are there.

I am in agreement and will back Hillary and Bill all the way the heck with the DNC they have divorced Hillary and are in the tank for Obama. They have even thrown this primary as far as I am concerned Hillary and Bill can start strongly in opposition and win this election witout the DNC.

    • http://reflections-in-tyme.blogspot.com/ Debi

This is the best suggestion I have heard yet. I am pleading also with the CLinton’s to consider this opition. I understand the loyality to the Party, however, the Democratic party we all knew and loved is no more. This is not the party my father or grandfather voted for.

wonderful letter! thank you Craig for expressing what so many of us believe.

        • terri

LOL! This would be a change that’d knock him out of the game!

        • morris1030

Change? Obama can’t get a local law abated in Congress without dealing with the corridors of power and the layers of fixers and committee heads, chairs of party groups, and he’ll fail totally unless the party hacks are dealt with and “deals” struck all the time. Pelosi is the ultimate insider who wants to control the power base of the party and can only accomplish this with an Obama and the left left baggage he brings with [and owes] them. And last, but not least, trashing the Clintons Brand and legacy.

          Change? You’re kidding yourself.

      • NoQ_Reader

This diary is a lot more.. expressive than I would have put it. But I know what my father says about not leaving the party, the party left him – it is the same for me.

      • s. hall

debi — Hillary has to go along with this. What choice does she have? The Democratic Party has dismissed her just as they have dismissed the rest of us. Would she get their blessings to run for the Senate again? I doubt it. She has somehow offended the wicked witch of the west — Pelosi and she is done in the party. I want to see her run as an Independent. As Lou Dobbs said yesterday this is the rumor. I know we will all support her because she would be doing this to save our Democracy. God bless the Clintons –

        • morris1030

Pelosi, or the Mme.de Farge of the new Demcratic Party has entirely ruined the Party and after the treatment given the Clinton’s, it’s time to realize that they have consciously gone about trashing the Clinton Brans.

Pelosi is venal, and the Party will not recover as it will be run from the neo left, the left left and any and all hangers on that go with this group.

We have all been insulted and rejected. Manipulated and lied to as we watch the charade of the Roolz. An avoidable situation that was created and then left to fester without resolution so that it has come to the 50% scandal we now witness as the “offering”.

States like S Caroina, Iowa, and New Hampshire also voted against agreed upon primary dates without consequence.

The Democratic Party is in Hell.

        • morris1030

I think we all have to do some hard thinking about an Independent Party that can have meaning. Without fiancial backing and strong will this is almost always a failure.

But an alternative must be found.

The Democratic Party as we knew it has murdered itself.

    • Liz burns

Count me in!!! I’m only ashamed I didn’t suggest it myself. i have been a lifelong democrat, who decided this month to switch part affiliation to Independent. While I didn’t strongly feel McCain is the best person for the job, I can no longer call myself a Democrat I am ashamed and appalled at the New DNC’s powers that be. I will not vote for any of the clinton opposers, and I especially hold extreme contempt for the cowards who switched their vote from Hillary to Obama. I will eagerly campaign for Hillary and I strongly urge her to please give the people the option to continue to support her in November. Bill and Hillary, the DNC abandoned you both and we, the American public do not support them any longer. Start a Revolutionb TODAY, and we will truly make history with this year’s election!!!

      • haypops

I would love to see a website that listed those Democrats that supported Obama from the beginning, and especially those that changed ship. i would love to see it now!

        • dpvegas

Yes, I’ve been wanting a list of Obama supporters, so I know who to vote AGAINST.

  • Patrick Walker

It would be a mistake for the Clintons to appear pouting over her “loss” but then again there is nothing really requiring them to support Obama.

The Clintons should help Congressional candidates in the election, just not Obama. According to Brazile et al., Obama doesn’t need her or her supporters at all.

The Clintons could spend their time helping others then.

    • scientist

Yes, right Donna Brazile! The one who threatened to leave her status (if not the party), the one who insisted on the “vote of the people should be determening the vote of the superdelegates” and etc… when it was not looking too good for Senator Obama. Donna Brazile …the one who continously repeats that she is still uncommitted. Interesting!!

    • bigkitty

      No.

Hillary has won this election, far and square.

She is fighting for the integrity of the electoral process, no less.

And no matter what happens, it doesn’t go away.

I really wish TPTB, such as they are, could see the big picture.

      They can’t.

    • http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com/ Gloria

Frankly, are there many Congressional candidates worth any support at this point??? I’m not impressed with what I see here in CD-2 NM…Richardson’s pick is an oil man in bed with polluters and his primary rival also pushed an expensive welfare handout to Richard Branson, who hasn’t even signed on the dotted line for this spaceport nonesense.

Udall, maybe. He’s held his endorsement so far.

A bought and sold Democratic Congress won’t help us.

I say, punish this party and stay home.

    • TJ

You may be right. They would call her a sore loser. I don’t want her to campaign for BO at all. Downticket would be good. Better yet-Maybe she’ll pull off the nom!

    • Betty

It would be a mistake for the Clintons to appear pouting over her “loss”

      – WHY? Because , some one, oh I don’t know maybe the press, her colleagues, might say something mean or nasty about her?

She owes nothing to “appearances”, she doesn’t have to “appear” any way. She is, THE LADY IS.

And needs to prove nothing to you. And as far as congressional candidates go, if they want her support, let them switch parties.

    • BJinChicago

Reconsider your position. I will not vote Democratic
in the fall if Hillary is not the POTUS nominee,
because doing so would condone the actions of the
party. Anyone who did not speak up against this negative primary campaign is not worth my vote. In my state that means Dick Durbin can kiss his senate seat goodbye.

It’s not that it’s realistic to expect the Clintons to do as Craig requests, but it is certainly within OUR POWER to do as we damn wish – and I fully plan on supporting John McCain should Obama be forced on us as the nominee.

And it is worth noting that Craig has written some brilliant essays on foreign policy for us — and knows a thing or two about how the world works, and his opinions deserve our utmost respect. Even if and when he is expressing what he wishes would happen but probably doesn’t realistically expect to happen.

    • http://lkcampbell.blogspot.com Lucinda

I’m with you Susan. I stayed home in 2004, because I couldn’t stand John Kerry but couldn’t stomach voting for Bush. This time, I will make my one little vote count.

    • typical irishman

You are right, we can do as we damn well please. I am with you and everyone else who will if necessary support John McCain. It is not enough to simply sit at home and not vote. Our vote is needed to help DEFEAT the bastard who has destroyed the democratic party–namely B. H. Obama. There is more to defeat than just Obama but he essentialy must come first.

**** However I can not vote for a FASCIST OBAMA…and I think you understand that…If you and Bill want to try to save the party built be FDR then I admire that….I have been a voting Democrat since 1979 but if OBAMA THE FASCIST is given an ILLEGITIMATE NOMINATION…I will vote GOP till all these corrupted party officials are removed from the party…****

If you decide to be independent sign me up….But if it Hairlips the Pope ( I’m Catholic…I’m allowed ) I will do my duty and quit Donna Putin’s new fascist party and not support Obama…Obama insults my Democratic spirit.

      • Clara Barton

Can Pelosi shut this down next week as she has vowed to do? Can she prevent the Clinton’s from going to the convention if most supers endorse Hillary now? I’m trying to get a sense of how this plays out if they cast their lot with Obama now, but change their minds later. Or will this really be the end of it? What fools.

        • beebop

          No. She’s just flouncing.

    • s. hall

Why can’t it happen? The Democratic Party has told us base Democrats shut up or get out. They have cheated Hillary out of this nomination and want to put in this empty suit instead. God knows what his real agenda is. Now Nancy Pelosi has upped the anty. She has decided to call an end to this nomination process.

If somebody hadn’t decided to throw that Boston Tea Party we would all be speaking with English accents today and bowing to the Queen.

  • jwrjr

Mr. Della Penna makes good points. His suggested actions would make it easy to determine who to vote for. And that would not be Obama or McCain.

  • Dawnelle

    Hillary,

    I’m with Craig here!
And I know a dozen others that would jump in a heart beat! (none of which will EVER vote for BO even IF YOU BEG) Sorry!

But we’ll gladly try something else with YOUR name at the head! No problem!

The DEMS have indeed been consumed by the radicals on the far left along with the AA BO supporters (which is almost all of them) and they are making us all walk around on egg shells as to NOT OFFEND THEM!

I don’t feel like turning into a hermit (worse than I already am)

I don’t feel we owe BHO ANYTHING and he is NOT a symbol of anything to me other than another loser politician. This time a DINO. He’s NOT qualified in the least for the job. LESS so than GW BUSH and I really hated him.

SO – HILLARY lets do it!!

  • democrat1

I whole heartedly support you and I am sure millions of voters. If only Hillary takes the stand and contest as an independent and run an issue based campaign, I am sure most of the democrats and majority of the women will vote for her and we will win

  • Donkey Brazziere

I think we should fight to take the party back.

    • http://www.12counts.com iam0nly1

Do you think that’s possible if Obama is the nominee?

We already know he is telling his supporters and donors not to donate to anything else, only to him. He will install his cronies as the heads of the DNC. He is attempting to hijack the party, and ultimately the nation. Do you think anything we do, once he has taken over, will help?

If he is not the nominee, the party is salvageable. However, if he is the nominee, I see the only way of taking the party back is by not voting for him and ousting him. However, once he’s the nominee he can install whoever he wants as the party leaders.

      • It’s Not Me

He has no one left to vote for him. He has AAs and the so-called “creative class” and that’s IT.

He’s insulted every other known demographic group.

Hillary and Bill could EASILY start another Independent Party and WIN. She’s ahead in the POPUKAR VOTE. SHE is ahead in the electoral votes…NOT OBAMA. He would LOSE and the old Democratic Party that left us, will be gone forever.

I’m in! Do it Hillary! Leave the party that left you.

        • It’s Not Me

          Popukar=Popular…..so sorry ;)

      • Betty

iam0nly1 Do you think anything we do, once he has taken over, will help?

That is what I have feared all along, that we would be too little too late.

Now is the time to act! And it will be the fight of our lives. We are asking so much of Hillary, yet it is her very strength that gives birth to the idea, the movement Obama likes to tell us he is. Anyone else would fold under the pressure.

    • Dawnelle

IF there weren’t so damn many of them that have fallen off the left edge…….. it’s unreal! GW did this. He tipped a few of them off the deep end! I saw it happen. I blame him. Always will.

Just think of the amount of money it takes to start a new party … unless you do it in a totally new model … it would take a really, really really bright, smart, new thinker and lots of dough.

  • http://www.12counts.com iam0nly1

I wish she would run as an independent. Although, I know she is very faithful and loyal to the Democratic Party. Although, Carville seemed to suggest that the feigned outrage over her RFK statement was truly hurtful and was a game changer for the Clinton camp. I wonder if the longer this goes on the more willing she is to run as an independent.

However, the stakes are very high for her if she does run as an independent. Would she still need to reach the 270 necessary for the electoral college if there were three in the race? The money that would need to be raised for her to compete against 2 establishment candidates would be astronomical. If she ran independent she would have to win, there would be no other option. For if she lost, Obama would also certainly lose (which is a guarantee anyway) and she would be blamed for it.

But like Craig, if she’s willing to take that risk, I’m right behind her.

    • Dawnelle

I no longer care WHAT THE FAR LEFT BLAMES ON OTHERS!!

Those who cannot succeed on their own must of needs find others to carry the burden of blame. He has spent too much time with Uncle Jerry to understand that sometimes the fault is your own. He loves being the victim. It obligates others to do for you.

    • rojo

If she were to run as an independent, there is also the possibility that none of the three major candidates would reach 270 electoral votes. I’d love to see that. What bigger statement could the country make against the appalling treatment the strongest candidate for president has received from her own party?!

      • stodghie

then it would go to the house of representatives where pelosi would give it to obama. count on that.

        • Lillian

I totally disagree. Let them SHOW the American voters that the fix is in. Many people do not realize that. That is why they want Hillary to stand down prematurely.

Had she done so in March, would we have known the fix was in?

Take it all the way to the convention. No third party. Let these fools leave the party in the purging that’ll surely happen when Hussein loses BIG-TIME in November. And so will the other delegates who supported him. Let THEM create a third party – they’re the loonies that are out of touch!

Besides, the tide has turned against him. The MSM are waking up, last week he alienated alot of people over the RFK fiasco. People are onto him.

WHY GIVE UP NOW? BETWEEN JUNE & AUGUST HUSSEIN WILL BE IN ANALYZED IN THE MEDIA – ALOT! GRAB YOUR POPCORN ;-)

That is an amazing idea. We could all vote for someone who stands for what we believe in.

Really? Because I don’t ever remember saying that I believe in corruption, pathological lying, Muslim appeasement, paying lots of taxes, being called a racist hillbilly, etc.

I do distinctly recall that I believe in sound ecological principles, jobs not welfare, social justice and equality for ALL not just the select, real universal health care and not employer based either, and a heck of a lot more that I don’t think Obama cares one iota about. Obama may be a communist or a marxist or a libertarian. Don’t really know at this point because he claims to be so much. So screw you and your fallacious, sanctimonious crap.

What needs to happen (seriously)is that some kind of national reputable poll should be taken and published on the news networks. I thought I saw one from Raumessen? that asked if Hillary ran as a third party candidate would you vote for her. At least this way since the results will obviously be high in my opinion – it would send a clear message to the DNC that they need to wake up now before Hillary takes the poll seriosly AND Hillary would have to put the “teaser” publically that if she thought she had an honest chance of winning the Presidency as a third Party candidate she would do it BECAUSE THIS COUNTRY MEANS TOO MUCH TO HER! I am serious and if you have any connections to Hillary’s ear – you should tell her to do it. I know in my heart she would have at least 17 million voters now.

Where does this idol worship of Hillary come from?

    “she’s a hard worker”

What does this even mean? She works hard because she campaigns? Tons of people campaign. Tons of people work longer hours than she does.

    “Hill is working for us”

No, she isn’t. She’s rich. The way she got rich is off suckers like you who buy into this shtick. I support Obama. I don’t like him personally (I’ve never met the guy). I don’t think he’s perfect. He’s just the politician who is closest to my beliefs who is still in the race.

If some of Hillary Clinton’s suckers (those who keep working their asses off to pay a millionaires debt) would just vote instead of ‘voting their conscience’ then we wouldn’t be faced with another Bush term.

    • Felix Rodriguez

Jack, I suspect my idol worship comes from the same place as yours. The process is the same, after all. Unfortunately for you, the “idol” is different.

Intelligence is required for the position of POTUS. I would say you may want to find a leader who has some.

      • ginaswo

Obama supporters are the idle worshipping the idol
the winer and cheese poseurs worshipping the whiners

Hillary is a worker and a fighter
        that is what we need
that is who the Democratic Party represents
we will fight with Hillary all the way and wont give up our party unless Hillary steps down

THEN you will see a mass exodus and the party will be left to self destruct

US GDP is 70% produced by the working class, the Democratic Party is supported by the broadest coalition of the working class, until now, if you force Hillary out it will be your own death knell, the party will collapse under the weight of the arrogance and empty promises you cannot deliver on without the WORKERS and the FIGHTERS you disdain.

    • bigkitty

A lot of us say this because she is the only candidate with proven intellect.

      Listen to her sometime…

Obama is stupid, one listen to him, and it’s obvious the man doesn’t read, doesn’t think, and my goodness, the corruption, why do he choose to line up with the corrupt?

The Chicago way is the best way? Corruption has bankrupt IL, and no one there, in govt, seems able to do their jobs.

Bad decisions all around, if Obama was stupid enough to take the money, like the rest of them, then he’s too stupid to be President.

And McCain does as his lobbyists tell him.

    • yo mama

Now that the word is out about BO’s corrupt political ties, it should be painfully clear to everyone that a vote for BO is a vote for more corruption in politics.

How big are the bribes that BO has paid you to make it worthwhile for you to sell your political soul to the devil?

He’s the person “closest to your beliefs” who is still left in the race? Are you serious?

Well, if you wait until Hillary is elected and she gets Universal Health Care for you, then you can go to a shrink and get some help to resolve your deep-seated issues.

Oh, and BTW, size does matter.

      • Andy

He’s the person “closest to your beliefs” who is still left in the race? Are you serious?

Well, if you wait until Hillary is elected and she gets Universal Health Care for you, then you can go to a shrink and get some help to resolve your deep-seated issues.

    • Michelle

Oh please – as if you even know WHAT Obama stands for? What exactly does HOPE and CHANGE mean?

Especially when he flip-flops on “preconditions” and he’s got lobbyists coming out of his ears though he denies he takes lobbyist money and he’s got associations with people like Rezko (who just earned another arrest warrant today!); Rev. Wright; Bill Ayers; and now, this new Priest whose name I don’t yet even know how to spell! What’s next? Why don’t you read up on your candidate from a person who used to live in his district(see: Adolph Reed’s piece in The Progressive) and find out what he is really about!

    • beebop

      PLEASE!!!!

Barack and Michelle are sooooooooooooooo poor!!!!! Poor babies …. they haven’t been given enough yet. Well, I am sure that Uncle Jerry will fix that for them. He can always write another novel. He’s already creating new characters just this past Monday … uncle? great uncle? uh? Eastern Front? Western Front? Dead people? Face it. He’s a MESS … is that the candidate closest to who you are?

Let’s see…who has been campaigning every day, non-stop since forever? Hillary. Who was that lazy ass who vacationed for 5 days over Easter in the Virgin Islands? That would be Mr. Lazy Hope. Who has taken weekend after weekend off from campaigning because he’s exhausted and lazy? That would be Mr. Lazy Hope. The man is a lazy, useless, lying, racist wimp.

  • MP98

    You people are killing me.
You kicked Joe Leiberman out; supported wacky gender and race politics over the last 8 years;pushed the empty suit loser John Kerry on the country; engaged in childish tantrum-throwing and name calling (“Bushitler, etc…), as opposed to adult policy differences and NOW…

    OOOhhhhh…Bill Ayers the bogey man.

Be careful what you wish for (eg. the rise of the angry left), you might get it.

the far left are pacifists with BIG ASS WHINY MOUTHS (trust me I hung out thinking I was one for years)

they may send the AA’s from main street to fight for them but I would hope MOST of them are not so stupid.

the far left “whiteys” are elites or kids with soft hands and HUGE EGOS and money to blow

MOST think they are being good citizens by protesting any and every thing while never researching DIDDLY

it’s supposed to be COOL (dont cha know) and most are too lazy or too UNpatriotic to care MUCH about this country as long as they have a job or mommy is supporting them.

MP 98 — I never kicked Lieberman out of the Party. That was the same bloggers who sold Obama to us and the same bloggers who sold Howard Dean as the DNC Chair. Only this time we ain’t buying. Won’t it be a nice moment when we see the video of Michelle trashing whitey. Obama talks about Unity but he only divides this nation.

  • Faustina

Hillary should run in this election as an independent Presidential candidate if there is any possible way she can.

The Democratic Party leadership and the Obama people have shown themselves to be contemptible, arrogant fascists.

  • pm317

Yep, I will vote for Hillary and her run as an independent. I think there will be a huge exodus from the Dem party and perhaps, from the Republican party as well, many of them don’t like McCain either and are ready to vote for Hillary anyway, especially women. In fact, majority are tired and angry about partisan bickering anyway. So Hillary could be that post partisan person with a cabinet that includes brains from both parties. Hillary as an Independent, Yes, we can and Yes, we will!

  • Dawnelle

I’m taking my OWN advice and breathing here!

  • Peggy Sue

When I first heard this suggestion several months ago, I thought it sounded nuts. But now? It doesn’t sound so crazy. Both Parties have become ragged and tired and obviously open to the highest bidder. A new Party might be just the shot in the arm the country needs, a Party that we can all believe in again.

It’s the yearning for something new that has propelled the Obama campaign. Unfortunately, the substructure is false and faulty, even dangerous, built on sand and empty words.

So, yes. Maybe this is the time for revolution and/or evolution but not the retro-type the Ayer’s folks have in mind. Clear the table, set it anew and see what happens.

And then, let the chips fall where they may.

  • AnyoneButObama

I fully support this idea, and have already written all members of the rules committee that I am saving my $1500 federal tax refund so I can send it to Hillary if she decides to run as an independent. I in no way can afford to do this, but I am saving that money for Hillary, for democracy, and for the future of this great land. I can’t afford NOT to.

    • ginaswo

thank you! I too have an amount aside, I am just about maxed to Hill for the primaries and I gave again yesterday. When Hillary tells us she needs more-there I am for her.

to the gates of hell or in this case the convention hall in Denver and then to the White House.

anyway she wants it thats the way she gets it

her word is good enough for me, I am with her all the way

      SO SAY WE ALL

  • Felix Rodriguez

I read this blog -and these posts- every single day and one thing strikes me. We are every color of the rainbow and from all walks of life and we all practice different faiths. There is only one thing that’s different between us and BO followers. We think for ourselves. We know the issues and whether we have college-smarts or not, we all refuse to play follow the leader to someone else’s tune. I know I never will.

“Hope” and “Faith” are the campaign slogans that have throughout history been used prior to an overthrow of Democracy.

I will not fall in line. I will not let guilt decide my vote. I will not support someone who does not support me.

I still have faith in the process and I still have faith -not much, but I do- that the meeting this weekend will be resolved and it will be fair.

However, if it is not fair, there is no power on this earth that will EVER -and I mean EVER- make me vote as a Democrat again. EVER.

If the new party starts (“Clintonist Patriots”) I will gladly cast my vote. If it does not, I will be a Republican till my last day.

I grew up hearing stories like these. Cuba was not perfect prior to the revolution. But, “hope” and “change” were the words Fidel and Raul were singing when they finally marched into Havana.

Seven years ago it was the neocons and Karl Rove who were out to establish a permanent Republican majority. Now we have the neoliberals who are out to destroy the democratic party and establish a third world country style government which will ultimately be a one party socialist government. Socialism is just aroung the corner from communism and the end of democracy for America. Lets DRAFT HILLARY and BILL CLINTON.

  • T Jefferson

Straight from the mouth of a vet who was there, the man who maintains the website honoring the service of the 89th Infantry Division during the WWII:

    http://www.89infdivww2.org/

Concerning the service of Mr. Charles Payne: C.T. Payne was a soldier in the 89th Infantry Division. He served in the 355th Infantry Regiment, Company K. The 355th Infantry Regiment was the unit to liberate Ohrdruf. Mr. Payne was there.

For those who seek to minimize the horrors of Ohrdruf since it was a ‘work’ camp and not a ‘death’ camp, we have but one word: shame. Ironically, this argument has been made to us time and time again by various Holocaust-deniers and other pro-Nazi groups. We will let the testimony of survivors and veterans speak for themselves.

So I guess you all owe Obama, Uncle Charlie and the vets of WWII an apology. You can start below.

In the meantime, Hillary continues to duck from sniper fire in Bosnia…

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po7J0f5TMrQ Jeremiah “God Damn AmeriKKKA” Wright

      Wrong Uncle Charlie Asswhipe!

      Thats CT Payne.

Uncle Charlie is CW Payne and was in the navy.

    • Ulahane

Not. The problem has never been with “Uncle Charlie” or any other veteran of any war. The problem has been with the consistent misstatements made by the Obama campaign. On this case, it shows the complete disregard for military service that permeates the Obama camp.

On memorial day, not only can’t Obama and his staff get his be bothered to get Charlie’s relationship right (Great Uncle, not Uncle), none of them even bothered to research Dachau. Then to make matters worse, they again mess up what atrocity the 89th infantry liberated prisoners from. It shows a complete disrespect toward the military. Trying to turn this into a debate over the relative horror of work camps versus concentration camps is dissimulation worthy of Obama himself.

Craig: You are preaching the true gospel now!

What I wouldn’t do to have the Clintons break from the lunatic fringe of the Democratic Party that is supporting Obama and Pelosi, and make a new party (kind of how the Republicans broke from the Whigs in 1856 and by 1860, they were a major party)!

If the Clintons left, I would follow. If they stay with the Party in the belief that Hillary may be able to prevail in 2012, then I will vote for McCain and help make that reality occur. Bill was a great president and Hillary (because they have both learned a whole lot from their mistakes and that is why I like them so much!) will be even better.

    • Gregoryp

By make a lot of money off of us what exactly do you mean? Did we all purchase Bill’s or Hillary’s books? No, of course not. Did we pay Bill to give lectures around the world? No, I don’t think any of us did. Bill and Hillary certainly didn’t get rich from the years and years of public service. They only got rich AFTER Bill left public service. So stuff that thought in your pie hole. Just because Bill is a damned good capitalist is no reason to bash on him, unless of course you really are a communist. But don’t expect me or anyone else to support your idiotic suppositions.

  • http://divinedem.blogspot.com Mary Ellen

Although I agree with most of you, that Hillary has been treated horribly, I cannot see her ever leaving the Democratic party. Besides, even if she did form a third party or run as an Independent, there isn’t enough time for her to win in the general election. It will take more time and money than she can afford to do such a thing. Most of her financial backers would not go along with her. They want a winner, someone in the Oval Office who can help them in the future and would probably back whoever the front-runner is in the Democratic party.

It’s a nice dream, but for now, that’s all it is.

Personally, I prefer to take our party back from the group of thugs who have taken it over. The Obamabots will destroy themselves with their thirst for power, just like the right wingers did in the Republican party. After four years of Obama and his minions, all grabbing for a piece of the American pie, Obama’s presidency will be dubbed as a replica of George Bush. I’m sure that just like the right wingers, they will make excuses for Obama’s failures in office by blaming the Republicans and blaming Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton, just like the Republicans did…they may even be able to pull him through another 4 years after that. After that, they will limp away like a bunch of losers and the Democratic party can re-build itself.

This is all speculation, of course, but I’m quite sure that Hillary and Bill will not leave the party.

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po7J0f5TMrQ Jeremiah “God Damn AmeriKKKA” Wright

oh, if the party keeps trying to destroy them and push them out, i think they just might along with a hell of a lot of voters.

I am going medieval on them and voting out all the SDs who support Obama, he has nothing on the table for us here in my area, Hillary does, there is absolutely no reason for my SDs to support him, they are unable to give me a cogent reason. I see Obama paid them. Well I will work my axx off to get them all out..

    • s. hall

Mary Ellen — let me ask you something. If you worked at a job where your patriotism was questioned, where sexism was the name of the game and where you were called a racist would you stay with that company? Bill and Hillary Clinton are living/breathing people and when they are trashed it HURTS.

  • oaktown

Could someone please enlighten me about the process? It seems as though they want to crown Obama next week but can it still go to Denver if they do, or is that out? I thought since he was getting over the top with super delegates, their vote didn’t become final until the convention.

If Hills went Independent, I would vote for her. It’s amazing, but even though we are all mad at what’s happening now, in the end, I think it will have a good outcome if it fires us up and makes us get into action. Prior to now, I have never ever blogged on a site (look at me, I’m blogging now!) but this whole turn of events makes me fired up about politics for the first time in a long time.

Also, I was never a Hillary supporter until I saw what a bad a$$ she is, standing up to all this pressure (I know others who feel the same way). I bet if it were her v. Bush in 2000, there is no way in hell the reps would have stolen that election. The whole Obama debacle has really hardened and expanded her support in a way she probably would not have gotten otherwise.

    • Dawnelle

      100 percent agree!!

  • Susan

When you know in your heart of hearts who is the best one to represent your country, you have to vote for that one!

I will not vote for McCain or Obama under any circumstances; that would be voting for a totally inferior product.

But if there is a chance to vote for Hillary, I am there all the way!!!!

How sad that there were so many positives on the horizon, and for selfish and personal gain, they were stolen away. The republicans are republicans… nothing new there. But the DNC is a fraud, using old democratic values to deceive, and creating a new “democratic” party to lure true democrats’ votes away.

Not if I can help it!

    You have my vote, Hillary!

  • JP

Frankly, I would rather stand and fight for my party back. Get rid of Obama and farrrrr left idiots, one at a time but get rid of them. However, in saying that, if Bill and Hillary Clinton said that is what they wanted to do I would follow them without a second thought.

  • Gunnar

Is this an election or an exercise in myth creation or legacy framing?

My gosh, after what the selfish, egocentric Bill and Hillary did to us during their 8 fruitless years in the WH, I can’t believe the falsehoods and exaggerations being posited in this letter. Hillary should be ashamed of what she facilitated Bill doing not only in the WH but throughout his shameful career. He betrayed the pubic trust and she helped him do it.

The Clintons betrayed the American People in much the same fashion as Reagan and the Bushes – to name a few.

They did not earn 4 or 8 more years of unchecked power to sell us out to the highest bidder.

NOT THIS TIME! (BTW, from a lifelong Democrat; old enough to know better).

A reading from the Obama Scriptures for Thursday
The apostle Axlerod knew Patrick Duval’s words and he went to the Obama and gave him the same words for to sooth the Arugula Tribe andm ake them like sheep…
Submitted By JohnSmart – May 29, 3:15 pm

    got this from realclearpolitics article

Today’s Obama reading: The Apocryphal Book Of Olbermann:
A reading from the apocryphal Book Of Olbermann:

So it came to pass in those days
that the land of the Patriots chose a new leader whose name was Patrick.
Patrick’s words had given hope to many.

The apostle Axlerod knew Patrick’s words
and he went to the Lord Obama and gave him the same words
for to sooth the Arugula Tribe
    and make them like Sheep

But Axlerod worried that the Lord would be accused of word theft.
And then Lord Obama was accused of word thievery
by a two bit tobacco chewing racist
    named Cracker McHick

    But the Lord said:
Be not afraid of the racists.
I have not stolen Patrick’s words.
    I riff with my brothers.

And many at a gathering asked
    what is ‘riff ‘ Lord?

And the Lord said: Listen to this allegory.
And while the gathered Arugulas sipped
upon their Lattes and Carmel Macchiatos
and nibbled Tofurky Weiners a top the hoods of their Priuses
    the Lord said:

“The Lord must be allowed to steal words.
I am a busy Lord and can’t be expected to come up with new speeches all the time.
Obey me and do not question.”

    A curious disciple said –
But Lord that is not an allegory.
    It is merely 3 sentences.

Then the Lord’s eyes became like slits and he said:
    Respect my AuthoraTAY! Hope! Change!
I am the Alpha and the Beta.
    Hope! Change! Changey Hopey Change!
    Change-o- Hope- o- Rama!
    Hopeish! Change a lish us!
    Hopetastic!

The Lord went on repeating variations of Hope and Change
until the apostles rolled a blunt
    and became Fade-eth.

Then the Lord left the gathering for to smoketh.

    The Word of the Lord.

If Hillary is serious about running as an independent, then she’d need to pick Neb. Senator Chuck Hagel as her VP.

The two of them would take an enormous number of votes from both parties, and if they could get on the ballot of every state – one thing I am certain – they would beat Obama (he’d come in 3rd) and while, she might not win – that is how the Republican Party off’d the Know Nothings in 1856 and then won it in 1860.

    • Dawnelle

I love Chuck! But I think he is loved more by Dems than Reps. these days.

of course Uhhbama offers the same positions to multitudes of people

I’m already there, waiting for the Clintons to come over.

  • There and Back Again

This is the second best idea I’ve ever heard.

It goes without saying that the Edsel was the best.

  • karen for Clinton

Well, it is an idea that has been tried before when people have been disgusted with the choices presented by the two major parties.

The problem is the country is more or less divided into two ideologies due to our society mores.

We fall into republican or democratic party models.

Since we would be a splinter group of ex-democrats we would be splitting the dem vote roughly in half.

With 50% of voters for McCain
and 25% of the voters for Obama
and 25$ of the voters for Clinton

    she would not win.

You all know obama cannot win without Clinton’s voters but you fail to see Clinton cannot win without Obama’s voters as well.

This is why Nader was a spolier.

Any pie division into three would leave any new independent party at a disadvantage against a republican. Which is why the libertarian, green, independent etc… in a national election is little more than a foot note.

McCain vs obama is a narrow win for mccain.

McCain vs obama vs Hillary is a huge win for mccain.

call it the “never gonna happen” party.

I plan on voting in the “anybody but obama” party, and that will likely mean for McCain.

    With

    • Felix Rodriguez

However, you fail to recognize McCain is a liberal Republican who is playing to the far right AND THEY ALL KNOW IT.

Most Americans just want someone in the center. That’s why Bill won in the first place.

      • karen for Clinton

True, and that will cause even more loss for a third party. If someone is more centrist they would crossover and vote for the more stable mccain who could actually win an election.

the republicans aren’t going to splinter off into other groups.

The democratic spintering is why republicans win.

We are highly splintered as it is, Clinton has the clear ability to unify but the DNC and the party elders are backing the weaker by far candidate.

Our only hope is they notice Clinton is stronger and one by one the SD’s come to their senses.

Oh, but don’t name it that – that was what the Know Nothings were actually called and they were anti-immigrant (mostly, anti-Catholic and anti-German because they were the immigrants in the 1840s).

Oops – forgot, they were also anti-Irish!

      • ginaswo

        oh yes totally anti Irish!

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Let’s face it, in spite of Obama’s horsecrap about his crossover appeal, republicans are not going to vote for him. The Democratic party is split between clinton and Obama and if she were in the race, it would cut into that Marxist big time. Furthermore, the latino community would pull her lever. So would the blue collar workers and seniors that Donna Brazile says she doesn’t want in her special little party any longer. Then there are the millions of totally pissed off women. The Jews. Catholics who love her. 72 million of them! This would be the first time in history that a REAL candidate is the third candidate. For certain, there is no way Barack Obama could possibly win such an election. The worst that could happen is John McCain wins, something we would all work to make happen in a one-on-one with Obama.

I think America is fed up with a bunch of party monarchs giving them their “choices”. These are not choices. They are hand by people we do not respect or want to follow. How many times have you held your nose when you voted? You can thank the DNC for that. Think Kerry. How many of us voted for that pussy because we weren’t given a choice? I hope she DOES run. It’s the ONLY way I won’t vote for John McCain.

    • Dawnelle

I agree Uppity!! This time it would be different with 3 parties running!!

Why can’t Hillary close the deal?

    • Mel

Whe bias report, Gallup has been a screw up all along, take the Rasmussen poll which is bias to Obama and the lead is Obama +3 but in the magin of error, thus tied!

How come Obama spent 300 million dollars and can’t close the deal?

    • avwrobel

Because, T Jefferson, all anyone hears from the MSM is that Obambi is the nominee and so it affects national #’s. As Obambi continues to flop around on foreign/domestic policy like carp in a boat he gets weaker while Hillary gets stronger. He’s too big a risk. Watch for me on tv from D.C. on Saturday Obamabot.

    TROOPS: Hillary needs our help!

    Have You Seen the Polls?
    by Lindsay Levin
    5/29/2008 10:59:09 AM

Hillary just sent out the following message:

Contribute before midnight Saturday, and your gift will be worth double!

    Dear Friend,

Have you seen the general election polls lately? They consistently show that we’ll beat John McCain in November. In a national head-to-head match and in the critical swing states, the numbers show I’m the best candidate to take back the White House for Democrats.

That is why it’s critical that we stay in this race and keep fighting for every last vote. We can win the nomination if we extend our popular vote lead, and that means putting everything we have into the final races. With just a few days before the voters in Puerto Rico head to the polls, our campaign is working hard — and your support is making the difference.

Every vote matters. I need you to help today and join our matching program. When you give today, a supporter will match your contribution and double its impact, making your $25 gift worth $50 or your $50 gift worth $100.

Contribute today to have twice the impact on the final primary races.

In the past 24 hours, thousands of you have given generously to our campaign, and I’m so delighted to see your incredible commitment.
With your help, we’re going to keep driving forward to victory, and there’s no better time to help than right now. By making a contribution today, you’ll double your impact when your gift is matched.

Contribute today, and your gift will be matched.

Thank you for putting your heart and spirit into this campaign. I couldn’t do it without you.

    Sincerely,

    Hillary

    Hillary Rodham Clinton

  • Hillary the President

    Hillary,

Please cling to regular, hard working, SENSIBLE, and WISE American people, not the DNC. They might have good priciples, but what’s for the use if they don’t exercise them for the sake of the people in America.

American people first, not the DNC first, please!

  • Emily Pickett

Um .. not to be a pain or anything .. but an open letter like that should read – To President Clinton and Senator Clinton … something like that.

    Sorry.

    • Andy

      Agree.

  • Mel

Howaed Dean doing his thing again having his lawyers say only half can be seated from Fla and Mich, fuck you Howard, do that and enforce the rules completely, cut Iowa, BH and SC by 50% for breaking the rules too! And award no delegates from Fla to Obama since he campaigned there and broke the rules, hmmmm he did in Mich as well, so not delegates from there too!

Oh boy enforcing the rulse means Obama looses, tisk tisk!

    • karen for Clinton

yep,the fix is sooooo in. Pelosi’s statement that she is going to “step in” and Reid’s statement a short while ago about the SD’s and they are holding a fund-raiser in manhattan for obama and the DNC in a few days for enormous contributors…

they are putting on full force for ob and the news media as always is too. The last few states are being ignored by the press and as her win comes in for Puerto Rico – obama will steal the spotlight with huge superdelegate announcements – no doubt.

But, and this is a BIG but… if some huge scandal comes out against obama, Hillary will be there to pick up all the pieces.

      sigh.

I do not expect them to follow the rules at the RULES committee meeting, but I sure think they are going to lose a few million of us by doing so.

They revolution will be televised takes on a whole other meaning… May 31st is the crucial test of the entire democratic party as we know it.

I fully expect them to commit suicide.

“Though Illinois was not one of the states that permitted electoral fusion, in 1995 Barack Obama nonetheless sought the New Party’s endorsement for his 1996 state senate run. He was successful in obtaining that endorsement, and he used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers.”

SEND THIS TO NBC and tell them to SHOVE it!

      GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • karen for Clinton

If this is real, there must be proof of some kind.

Somebody must have some literature or something concrete with his name on the marxist party.

Upload it, scan it, send it to the world.

    • Michelle

      Why doesn’t this surprise me?

There was also some report last week – on World Net Daily:

      http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=65066

about another “mentor” (Frank Marshall Davis) of Obama’s who was affiliated with the Communist Party USA.

I don’t know what to make of this, but clearly Obama has more “radical” associations than any person I know…

How can the Democratic Party do this??

      • karen for Clinton

If true this would be EXPLOSIVE. An association with a marxist is not direct, it can be written off as someone he knows, no matter how many there are around him and there are tons.

This Yid with a Lid Guy is a rightwinger who is anti-democratic party and who has had some interesting reports up about ob in the past.

If he ran as a marxist there would be proof of some kind. It might just be swiftboating by reps.

  • Linda Hayes

I will never vote for Obama. He’s a skinny little coke smoker who thinks there are 57 states in the USA and calls women “Sweetie”. Well this little Sweetie has had it! Obama is a hollow shirt, backed by Wolf Blitzer and the CNN crowd, who, by the way, brought us the Iraq War. Mr. “O” is also backed by the Chicago mob and the financial wizards who through speculation, hedge funds, and other shady Wall Street instruments wrought upon the American people the mortgage fraud and meltdown and the artificial pumping up of the price of gasoline to $5 a gal.

How dare these prancers and promoters disrespect Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has fought for over 35 years for health care and for all people of this country. How can they say the votes in Kentucky, West Virginia, Florida, and Michigan count for nothing? How can they say Hillary is losing, when already 17 million people have voted for her.

YES, NOW IS THE TIME for a THIRD PARTY. All 17 million should vote for Hillary and tell those corporatists, with their missiles, wars, and pop rockets that it is time to put the killer toys away. A woman is ready to straighten out your mess; bring health care for all; open up vistas of environmental and energy independent research and jobs; secure funding for the improvement of American infrastructure,….the list goes on and on.

A vote for Obama or McCain is a vote against your own self interest. IT’S THIRD PARTY ALL THE WAY! GO HILLARY GO! We are with you, 17 million strong and counting.

  • Ann

I so want Hillary to do this. We need Sen. Clinton to be President more than she needs to be President (as the man in the video says.)

We need universal health care, to get out of Iraq, to deal with Islamic Terrorism and a nuclear Iran, we need to solve the economic crisis that will have loaves of bread costing 15 dollars and is already putting families out of their homes and making it cost more to get to work than one earns while working.

We are a nation in deep trouble and Sen. Clinton is the only candidate with the wisdom and experience to help us solve our problems. She must be a candidate. She must.

  • s. hall

CRAIG DELLA PENNA — great post. You are incredible.

  • cynic456

How do you start a new political party in the United States?

    “Democratic Centrist Party”?

The first step in organizing a new political party in the United States is to think of name and elect temporary officials in your party’s first convention. Despite the pompous air a convention stirs, there is nothing special about it. You first convention could be in your back yard around the bar-b-que grill, for all it really matters. The party name, however, cannot be previously used. At a minimum, your party leadership should include a committee chairman and a treasurer.
Collecting funds to elect an official to a federal, state, or local position is essential to the success of the party. As such, a bank account must be opened in the party’s name. Be aware that you will be required to file financial documents and disclosures with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) when you reach the benchmarks laid out by the FEC.

This next section comes direct from FEC website and includes two parts, when to register with the FEC and qualifying as a national or state party committee:

    ——————————————————————————–

When does my party committee need to register with the FEC?
National and state party committees must register with the FEC once they make contributions or expenditures in connection with federal elections that exceed $1,000 in a calendar year. Local party committees must register with the FEC once they:

    Make contributions or expenditures in connection with federal elections that exceed $1,000 in a calendar year;
Spend more than $5,000 in a calendar year on so-called “exempt activities”; or
Raise more than $5,000 during a calendar year in funds designated for use in federal elections.
As with other committees, parties must register by filing FEC Form 1 [PDF], Statement of Organization within 10 days after reaching the applicable threshold. Party committees should download the Campaign Guide for Political Party Committees [PDF] for more information about the laws that apply to them.

How does a committee qualify as a state or national party committee?

How does a committee qualify as a state or national party committee?
The Commission determines whether committees meet the criteria for state or national party committee status through the advisory opinion process. For state committee status, the Commission has generally looked to see if the committee engages in activities that are commensurate with the day-to-day operations of a party at the state level, and if the committee has gained ballot access for its federal candidates.

For national committee status, the criteria include:

    Nominating qualified candidates for President and various Congressional offices in numerous states;
    Engaging in certain activities–such as voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives–on an ongoing basis;
    Publicizing the party’s supporters and primary issues throughout the nation;
    Holding a national convention;
Setting up a national office; and
    Establishing state affiliates.
Consult our “Advisory Opinions” brochure for more information on how to obtain an opinion from the Commission.

    ——————————————————————————–

Once your party is up and running, you will need to elect permanent leadership and accept a Charter and Bylaws. In essence, the Charter and Bylaws are the constitution of the party. It outlines your party organization, and the relationships between other party organizations (such as state committee’s for your party) and other operations your party may undertake (i.e. Presidential Elections, Senate and House elections, State elections, etc.). Your party’s Charter and Bylaws may also outline the relationships between your national convention and your national committee. Your Charter and Bylaws may also establish who is eligible to run for public office (federal, state, and local), may include the basis on which your party was founded (party platforms, idealologies, philosophies, etc.), and should set out the goals and intents of the party as a whole.

Remember during this process to keep meticulous notes. Every dollar raised and spent MUST be accounted for and reported to the FEC as well as Committee members, Party Leadership, and the general public. You will need to record the minutes of every meeting, the decisions voted for and against, officers elected, fundraising started and stopped, voters registered in the party, voter registration drives, and the list goes on and on.

It goes without saying that at some point your party should retain a lawyer. The services of a good lawyer specializing in Constitutional Law, Election, Campaign and Political law will be invaluable. You might also search out a law firm practicing Local and/or Federal Government Law, Labor and Employment, and Administrative Law. They will need to file legal documents on your party’s behalf at the federal level as well as State and Local levels.

    • ndree

I hope Bill is taking care of all this now that campaigning is winding down. Of course he has to keep it super secret until all the Judases have made their moves. Contrary to those who believe that the Clintons are tarnishing their careers, this will be the coronation of years of good and loyal service to the country.

    • Skip

Thanks, cynic456. I’d been meaning to get that information, and I’d thought of the Centrist Democratic Party, actually Democratic Centrist. Looks like it will have to be decided before the convention, if they’ll even consider the option, but after the RBC meeting it should be clear where the DNC plans to go. It would be necessary to try to bring along the Clinton-supporting office holders, etc. along, too.

  • Vici

Count me and mine in. I shutter at the thought of Obama being in the Whitehouse. He does not deserve to sit there where other great President governed our country. How about the United Party ? Full name being “United for America” Sounds good and a little blowback for Barky. She could take all the best from both parties after she wins. She is one of the only members left with any decency.

With all due respect, I HATE this idea. I don’t think handing the Democratic party over to these spineless morons is the correct thing to do. Let them go down in a defeat of historic proportions, let them be humiliated…and then let’s take our party back and return it to true Democratic values.

I understand that the third party talk is born of frustration and anger, but Bill and Hillary are Democrats, and they are not going to abandon the party just because of the attempted take-over by these fools.

the dollar won’t be worth 50 cents!!!

  • Milly

I second that motion, the democratic party has come to a point where they are interested in keeping ‘a little party’ inside the whole party, those that not agree with them are ‘out’.

They are trying to sell Sen Rodham the idea of considering being the replacement for Ted Kennedy, what ‘a distinguishable position’, what? With the treatment she has received from his colleagues, ‘the elders’ have already betrayed her, who is going to believe they want her to replace “hard to die” TK, no for what I have seen…they want her out, no more Clintons. They must have already in mind who the replacement for T. Kennedy will be.

I kind of agree in join forces with Ron Paul, he is another ‘persona non grata’, but hey, he too, is firm, tough and with good ideas that can be modified with HR plans, and shaped them to benefit supporters from both candidates.

The Democratic Party has become a ‘funeral’, is for sale to whoever can offer money for them to keep those seats secure.

What does the Democratic Party has achieved lately after taking the power, all the members are just enjoying the ‘political celebrities status’, they are not interested in the people anymore. It is gone!

Sen Rodham might also run with Mayor Bloomberg, and he has the money.

So, Oblame will not lose because Sen Rodham does or will do what she is entitled to do, to fight till the end. Oblame will lose because, that man is a corrupt criminal, (hello…US Senate Ethics Committee) “he knows that”…who has promised money to those who support him, a man who thinks that to be a President isn’t anymore about having to work hard and having conducted himself with high ethics to win at least being considered for the position.

No.. Oblame thinks that with having the support of corrupt billionaires, the ones that will dictate to him how to behave and do as they ‘say’ will be fine with him, as long as he is in ‘power’ and in the hall of the White House, -the large framed painting- as being the first African African President, because I do not buy the story he was born in Hawaii, that’s a cover up.

There the reason for too many discrepancies in his biography.

Come on Oblame with billions you can rig an election in your favor, there is the reason he knows how to win without certain ‘minorities’, that minorities will be substituted with ‘a sophisticated software’ and those votes as an act of magic will give him the victory. I can see it clearer now, this has been envisaged for a long time. They were waiting for the ‘right moment’, this was in the cooking maybe for about 15 years. Kind of a ” political terrorist attack”.

What? Yes, changes to the game, now for you to be a President, you just need ‘billions’ and voila the illusion that you won will become a reality, thanks to the help of the msm and new technology, -headlines- can be written in advance, ‘oh the brilliant man convinced people from both parties and different races to vote for him, what a historical moment, the message worked ahh..we are one’ BS!

If he were a man of principles he wouldn’t have done what he is doing, knowing by heart he is not prepared nor qualified, and he is already a corrupt person, he needs to get out of politics, and work in whatever is wrong with him. He must go to Africa, there the kind like him can be named themselves King or President and no one investigates, as long as there is a village he can buy.

But no way Oblame, you and your comrades think you will do that here. So far you think everything is under control, you will be the President, you will pardon Rezko and the rest of delincuents you have for friends. Oblame, this is still the United States. As I have said before, be ready for what is coming to destroy you piece by piece! And no one to blame, only you and your wrong bad judgement!

My vote is for Sen Rodham, and will follow her if she decides to go independent. I don’t care if she loses as independent but at least that ‘abomination’ will pay for what he has done. Same goes to the DNC!And HC will feel that she ‘did the right thing’, she stood for those who believed in her, at her age she is an accomplished senator already. And she won the nomination!

And well after all, I am my own government!

    • Betty

      Milly,

I can see it clearer now, this has been envisaged for a long time. They were waiting for the ‘right moment’, this was in the cooking maybe for about 15 years. Kind of a ” political terrorist attack”.

We think alike. I think Ayres recruited Obama in College and he along with Bernadene and Michelle have pushed Obama this far. Obama doesn’t have the get up and go to get this far, we can all see that.

This letter presents an idea which is premature at best, absurd at worst.

It is premature for two reasons:
(One) The hammer does not fall until the polls close in South Dakota.
(Two) Clinton has the option to “suspend” her campaign (like Edwards did) and take it to the convention. Beyond that, she has the nuclear option once on the floor.

It is absurd for two reasons
(One) Americans are too politically naive, too under-educated, lack the attention span and are too self-absorbed to comprehend another political party. This is still the population that elected Bush twice.
(Two) History is not on your side with this sort of cult of personality. The parties formed around Anderson and Perot collapsed and we all know how successful Nader has been. None of those guys ever got more than 19% of the popular vote and not one of them got a single electoral vote.

Calm down and hit the red button. Give her just enough to have something left over for Happy Hour.

    • Michelle

I agree that it is premature – but we should be ready – when T. Roosevelt had the Republican Convention turn against him (even though he won the majority of primaries in 1912), he left, formed his “Bull Moose” Party and while he lost to Wilson (and the Democrats) – he BEAT Taft.

In other words, humiliating Obama and the DNC for their choices may not be such a bad idea. But I agree – let’s wait until AFTER Denver. But let’s also be prepared just in case – because to be honest, I don’t want to vote for McCain. I will, if he is my only choice other than Obama, but I don’t want to.

      • http://www.despair.com/idiocy.html Smilin’ Jim

“while he lost to Wilson (and the Democrats) – he BEAT Taft.”

Point taken, I see he even got 6 electoral votes.

Winning the majority of the primaries is overstating the case somewhat. Only fourteen states participated and Roosevelt won ten of them. It also shows that we have been aware of our problems in selecting a candidate that is a bozo for a long, long time.

This is a Constitutional problem at it’s root. The writers did not anticipate parties.

The one-man-one-vote primaries are incompatible with the Electoral College, especially with the proportional representation rules in effect with the primaries. Add to this open primaries and that naive attempt at grass-roots participation which the caucus system attempts and it results in a FUBAR system.

If you think this has been a wild ride, contemplate a new Constitutional Convention. That would be bone-breakin’ Rodeo.

    • http://www.hillaryclinton.com **== President & Commander-in-Chief Hillary Clinton **==

Hillary and Larry Johnson both called for patience a couple weeks back. I agree. Let this play out. I may be in the minority here but I still see Hillary getting the nomination.

  • Whatever

    This is a wonderful letter.

Hillary is uniquely qualified to bring America back to the people because she owns the Center, and while we, as Americans, flirt with aspects on both the left and the right, we really are a majority of centrists.

If Bill and Hillary can build a coalition truly representative of the will of the People, then we could finally get something done in Washington and break the stranglehold that corporations have on the Two Party system.

I think that a third party of centrists that choose to align with either the Left or the Right can really keep the Two parties honest. Just look at the havoc that one lone voice (Lieberman’s) can have on the balance of power in Congress, and imagine what a block of Congresspeople working in concert to promote the will of the people could accomplish.

  • joeysky

The Democratic Party is a party of hypocrisy, running down from Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. He issued the following statement in Dec-07.

This latest example of the Bush Administration putting politics over the law shows the lengths Republicans will go to hold on to power and undermine our fundamental right to vote.

“But Democrats will not stand by while Republicans try to steal another election. That’s why we’ve already started an unprecedented voter protection effort in all 50 states, to ensure that these types of voter suppression tactics will stop and that every American can vote and have that vote counted. Americans have already rejected the Republican Culture of Corruption and will elect a Democratic president next year to put integrity back in our government.”

    http://www.democrats.org/a/2007/12/americans_have.php

When you write a letter to them, remind them to keep their words.

    • doctorate

Obama has a history of using voter suppression to win elections. http://tinyurl.com/3g4fl9

Additionally, the Obama campaign’s race baiting and calls for Hillary to quit the primary have suppressed her support among blacks, and in general ever since Iowa.

The DNC also used voter suppression with the unfettered caucus bullying and fraud that went on, and of course by not counting the votes in Michigan and Florida when it mattered – even if they do so now.

It’s obviously what they do, and it was planned and it is condoned.

  • doctorate

So many of us were planning on either writing Hillary in or voting for McCain in November anyway, depending on how this all shakes out…the suggestion is apropos; and I hope the Clintons get wind of it.

Without a doubt, there will be a new party forming as a result of this fiasco and the corruption at the DNC, as well as the cowardly swooning of party members trading favors for endorsements. Having the Clintons at the helm of a Clinton Democrats or Centrist Alternative party would help so much to get it off the ground running.

I don’t think all this talk about a new party is helping our cause. I am sure Pelousi and her surrogates would love for that to happen. They would be through with the Clintons for sure then.
My idea is don’t build a new house cause the rats moved in, you get rid of the rats and the house is yours again! Take it to the convention and have a good floor fight and if we don’t win we all vote for McCain. Hillary can run again in 2012, she will not be too old then. We’ll have 4 years to get rid of Pelousi and the rest of her do nothings and we take over in 2012!

    • http://www.hillaryclinton.com **== President & Commander-in-Chief Hillary Clinton **==

I don’t think all this talk about a new party is helping our cause.

I agree. We should keep fighting for Hillary!

    • Michelle

Connie – no, Pelosi and the DNC will be scared to death about any talk of deserting the Party, leaving the Party, forming a new Party because they know that if desert them en masse, Obama will DEFINITELY lose. That said, it is premature – we don’t have to go anywhere YET and we will fight like crazy in Denver!

    • Gregoryp

It isn’t hurting that is for sure.

How old is Hillary? Is it realistic to wait until 2012? As American’s can we really wait until 2013 for our federal government to get its act together?

The last 7 years have been very illuminating in regards to the Democratic party. They don’t stand up for their ideals, for the general public or up to the republicans even when they have the majority. If the Dems were so great why didn’t we have universal health care coverage back in the 70′s or 80′s. Had overwhelming majorities in the congress until ’94. Had a Democratic president from 76-80, 92-94. Have they ever solved any of our social problems? Economic problems? Are they interested in us or are they interested in power and money?

      • http://www.despair.com/idiocy.html Smilin’ Jim

“How old is Hillary? Is it realistic to wait until 2012?”

She is 60 and will be 61 this October.

The protracted campaign, especially her Terminator-like tenacity, sets her up as a strong contender in 2012.

        Four things must happen, though:

She must lose the nomination, smile bravely and campaign for Obama.
Obama must crash and burn in the general election.
McCain must crash and burn or die as a President.
McCain’s running mate must be a dweebe.

The odds for all four to happen are long.

I’d put her odds in getting the Presidency are better by suspending the campaign after South Dakota and taking it to the convention. There are two scenarios in which she could take the Presidency.

        (A) Obama could seriously stumble before Denver and make it so obvious that he is an unsuitable candidate that the Democrats do not lose the African-American vote by choosing Clinton.
        (B) She could choose the nuclear option at the convention and do to Obama what his mentor, Teddy Kennedy, did to Carter in 1980. She will be vilified for a while but consider that Teddy Kennedy is now the party’s darling and will likely get a sendoff to rival a Mafia Don. If successful, it is likely that she will lose a significant bloc of the African-American vote and Ikkes must calculate if this is worth it.

The odds on these two options are even.

    • Milly

I respectfully disagree, Sen Rodham won this nomination, her moment is now, what guarantee you that she might be interested in 2012 to go through all this ‘nithmare’? Why is she always the one that has to leave it for later. How do you know she will be with us by 2012?

This is a new century, and sometimes ‘rats leave tiny small eggs’, (and these rats are big), better to move, new house, positive vibrations. I understand we are conditioned to be ‘in the comfort zone’, afraid of what could happen if I dare to try a new alternative solution. That’s why we are for’her’.

She already has nothing to lose. The DNC has abandoned her! Only, if something ‘that can unmask Oblame’ for what he really is, with strong evidence, that force him to step down to avoid ‘ugly charges and the humillitation of beign caught in his own trap’, and that AA can’t ‘scream racism’, can save this.

But believe me I am faithfull that she will win, umm! Unless this is a strategy from Sen Rodham too, that she prolongs with appeals, and this situation is extended until October if something happened and she is the nominee, the republicans won’t have too much time to smear her with the ‘same old-same old’ accusations nasty campaign! Imagine republicans have now to spend in negatives ads for Oblame and Hillary, since there is no nominee from the DP,and that’s a lot of money, and republicans are having their problems with their finances too.

On the other part if we continue voting for the republicans, if the DNC does not follow the rules, the republican will continue to play this ‘game’ of bringing a candidate supported by them and ‘disguised as a democrat’ to avoid a ‘a real DP potential and good candidate’ to take the presidency.

The republicans will continue thinking, see it always works. Bear in mind by that time, more republicans will be in important positions, and when the next ‘good candidate’ from the Democratic Party, (if this party/funeral) still exists, that candidate will have to go through the same unfair treatment, will have to face ‘republicans’ as judges, boards of this and that..allocated in strategic positions. And again frustration and repetition. Do we want that for the next generations?

The DNC is ‘possessed’ needs and exorcism!

Just my opinion, we are all furious I know, can’t believe this non sense situation! Peace!

      • Milly

My reply was for -Connie-, for the record!

      • Betty

I think you are right: the time is now. If Pelosi really has a way to block a floor fight we will know it next week. I think the floor fight is the closest we will ever get to a fair fight in this party.

Why does Hillary have to declare as an independant before the primary? Joe Lieberman didn’t have to.

We would just have to be ready to go, if need be, after the convention. I know that Hillary, Bill, Chelsea and her campaign have worked their hearts out but it would only be two months more.

  • Jon

After having been told again and again by the Obots “Fuck you..get lost..who needs ya”
and watching for the calls on Democrat Underground for Hillary and her supporters to get out of THEIR party..I say DO IT!
Give them exactly what they want..Go Hill..3rd party time..you can and will win this.

“How to you propose to deal with it?”

          Nader, though unelectable, is right.

It is impossible without breaking up Time-Warner, Disney, Viacom and News Corporation.

I do not see a legion of latter-day sans-culottes ever doing this.

          We are screwed.

  • Betty

Bill and Hillary, what we ask of you is will you make an almost superhuman effort for your country and us. If you accept our proposal you will be targeted for ridicule and scorn by the press, Obama followers, and your colleagues. I pledge $100 dollars a month, I know that is not much but I am retired and it is all I can afford.

Do you feel you could get cooperation from Congress if you won as an independent, or would you be isolated for payback?

After all of that, knowing what I ask, I ask that you consider this proposal, and please accept.

    • HT

Betty, I’ve been lurking for a few years at this site and rarely comment. Your post brought me out of the woods, because of the clarity and the passion. I’m on pension as well, and I know what $100 per month means. You are truly a dedicated lady. I just wish that we had Hillary Clinton in my country – guaranteed she would win.
Betty, You are one grand lady.

      • Betty

Thank you for the kind words.
I think we are lucky to have Hillary, too. She is head and shoulders above the other nominees and her colleagues in the Congress.
You are not from this country and part of me wants to say what you are seeing now is not a true picture of us. But I am not so sure any more. Someone upstream said something about “the little party” inside “the big party” and I wonder how many times “the little party” fooled us into thinking we nominated the candidate. If Hillary had been anything other then the strong determined lady she is we would all be stuck with Obama now. I just wonder how many Unity ponies I have in the back yard.

  • jen

I don’t understand how anyone can consider Barack Obama and the Dem elite who are supporting him “far left” in any sense of the term. Perhaps some of them, like Kerry and Kennedy could be considered left of center, but Dean, Rockefeller, and many of the others behind him are further right than Hillary, who I consider a slightly left of center liberal.

No, these people are all about destroying the Clintons, and maintaining their positions and power and the status quo. Hillary would be rocking too many boats.

I do agree though that the Clintons, along with Wes Clark, Joe Sestak, RFK, Jr. and the other honest brokers backing them should bail on the Democratic Party which has become nothing more than Republican Lite. I don’t see them doing it, but it’s past time for a viable third party and I think these people would attract a lot of disgruntled people from both sides of the aisle.

    • doctorate

They are all lopped together as far-left wingers because of their association with Daily Koz, Move-On and HuffPo – and because they are financed by George Soros.

  • haypops

Although I am a strong Hillary supporter, my first priority is to see that Obama is not elected. Rather than a third party wouldn’t a third Democratic candidate work. What if Hillary lent her support to overly vain Democrat like Ted Kennedy (I am accepting alternatives). I know he is sick but he might be vain enough to accept and then Obama would appear the one unwilling to accept the party unity thing. Suggestions? Stop Obama now!

  • jyotinc

Please, Hillary; how can you be loyal to a party that ostracize and vilify you? The party is now hijacked by the Obama’s group. Do I need to site instances to prove my point? Look, Howard Dean is the first person who disrespected you when he intimidates the superdelegates to choose when the primary is not over yet. VP is not an option. No! I will not vote for Obama. I’ll go somewhere else to defeat him.

Please Hillary, build another party. We’re millions of Hillary supporters whose willing to support you all the way up to November. Not now, you have the popular votes. DP needs to be punished.

  • Laura

Screw Nancy Pelosi and the democrats! After bitching for so long about Florida 2000, the democrats are now disenfranchising their own voters. It’s only bad if the GOP does it, but its fine for the democrats to discount votes as long as it benefits their favored candidate. The democratic party is anything but democratic, it is a stalinist party.

  • Erasmus

This is madness. I am speaking as someone based in Ireland who can therefore view matters with the objectivity of distance.
Something similar happened in the eighties to the British Labour Party in the neighbouring jurisdiction. This is/was ideologically similar to the Democratic Party. It was hijacked by extreme left wing elements from the ground upwards, through a process known as ‘entryism’, by an outfit called Militant Tendency led by a charismatic dude called Derek Hatton (the counterpart of Obama). This made it unelectable by the mainstream.
As a reaction its moderate elements split off (similar to what is being suggested here)to form a new centrist party, the SDP. This shone brightly for a while before eventually withering away. Most commentators now believe that its leader, David Owen,
had he stayed, would eventually have made a great Labour Prime Minister (the top job). Hopefully you see what I’m driving at now.
Eventually sober mainstream leaders, Neil Kinnock and then Tony Blair, took over the reins, kicked out the Hattonites, and dragged the LP back to the centre and now they’ve have enjoyed 11 years of unbroken power.
That is my advice. Stay put. Obama seems likely to get the nom but it looks like he’ll be toast in November after which he and his acolytes should be easy meat for those party operatives who have not supped of kool aid. After Nov he will be a spent force and Hill will sweep to power in 2012 on a tidal wave of buyer’s remorse following one term of a McCain presidency.
    Keep the faith.

    • Gregoryp

Good points but I don’t think you really get what has happened with the Democratic Party since the 60′s. There is ALWAYS going to be another Obama with this party. Always! He was McGovern, he was Carter though Carter won due to Watergate, he was Mondale, Dukakis, and Kerry. Every now and then someone solid like Bill Clinton or Al Gore will break through but Clinton wouldn’t have won if not for Perot and Gore didn’t. The folks who always ram these guys down our throats always seem to sit out the election when a centrist gets the nod. As a result, Dems always lose.

      • Betty

All that is true and more Obama’s Combine political machine is gaining and consolidating power by the day. The SD who endorsed Obama are contaminated by it, it is hard to believe they didn’t, or don’t know by now, about Obama’s connections and yet they continue to endorse him.
Remember how Steny Hoyer handed out money before the 2008 election in order to buy enough support to be elected 2nd to Pelosi instead of Murpha. Obama and his money machine are buying support at an unbelievable rate right now. Four years form now that machine will be harder to defeat even if Obama doesn’t win the presidency.

We have the power to stop this coup. The question is, do we really want to?

No one ever said that Teddy Kennedy, Gary Hart, Ronald Reagan, Jessie Jackson shouldn’t take their campaign to the Convention and blasted them daily that they had already lost! We should not be posting in defeatist terms, because by doing so, we’ve given away our power to turn this around. Anybody remember Truman? “Dewey Defeats Truman”? Oh, wait, Truman beat Dewey!!

THE INDEPENDENT PARTY. Not “Independence” but INDEPENDENT. Because we already have Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. It is a sad commentary on the Democratic Party’s failure in supporting Democracy with a capital D that we are even considering this. But when I think of the baldly naked political games that were played with the primary calendar, and how somehow that is more important than the actual votes of 2.3 million citizens of the United States. No, hell no, and triple hell no. Nothing is more important the counting the votes. Nothing. Ever.

And the NADERITE third party shit is a perfect example of the same plan to divide up what should be the nation’s strongest party.

Look what Nader did to the Green Party. Didn’t make it stronger, huh? He shat on it. Shat on it and helped shatter it.

And now this logorrhea about yet ANOTHER, UMPTEENTH “third” party. Get a damned grip, people.

Or don’t. “Third” parties are a damned myth like unicorns. The thugs didn’t need a “new” party to take over, did they? NOOOO. They did the HARD WORK to take over the existing party.

But blather on…it’s WAYYYY easier. Blather on and on.

    Moment of TWOOF my foot.

TWOOF is the VERY key you’re being indoctrinated into a cult.

Borrow a clue if you can’t afford one on your own.

We can’t allow Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barak Obama to lead our country into devastation.

I can only hope that Bill and Hillary answer the call to form another party. I can no longer be a member of the Democratic Party. The party, Dean, Brazile, Pelosi, Reed, Kennedy, Dashle, Dodd, Leahy, et al. have shown me their true colors this election season and I will never support any of them again. I re-registered this week as an Independent because, frankly, I don’t want my name associated with what this party has come to represent.

I find the idea of an independent candidate HRC very intriguing. If she would take former NY mayor Bloomberg as VP candidate she would firmly base herself in the middle of the political spectrum and push obama to the left and mccain probably out of the picture (and the money would be there, too). This would show crossover appeal and REAL change.

    CLINTON/BLOOMBERG 08!

This is our HOPE and CHANGE. We Hope you can Change the Dem Party back to how it was, run Independent.

In 1948, the Democrats had already split off a Progressive Party. Then the Dixiecrats spun off, too. Why are we so shy about discussing a new party; it has been done before?

    YES! YES! YES!

The Republicans replaced the Whigs almost over night.

I agree with this article 100%. I wish they would do it.

Counting chickens again? I’ve lost count of how many times you guys have written Hillary off yet she is still standing tall. You don’t seem to see reality very clearly. Why is that?

  • ginaswo

as a matter of party ROOLZ the SDs are not committed until they vote on the floor of the convention..

    period..

we are with Hillary and if she decides to drop out we are going to McCain, and taking our money and votes with us..

  • typical irishman

Do you know whoes name is on your birth certificate? People are still searching for Obama’s father’s first divorce record before he married the second time ;) , it can’t be found.

  • michelle

Cuz this is going to get us to your side, idiot.

  • It’s Not Me

The SDs don’t count UNTIL THE CONVENTION when any or all can change their freakin’ minds. The same goes for the PLEDGED DELEGATES. Why is that so fucking hard for Obamarhoids to grasp? NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE UNTIL THE DAMN CONVENTION…FOOL!

  • beebop

It could be worse we could call it the Democratic Cubs Party. Its been 100 years since they won the World Series. Lieberman called his party the Independent Democrats.
