The teats on that cow are gonna run dry …

Call it an ol’ farm girl’s intuition. But it seems to me that the reason that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are so very, very eager to get real close with Barack is that they want to milk him REAL GOOD for all of their House and Senate races, not to mention those governors and others that’ll need some money too. (See NYT: “Leaders in Congress Seek to Settle Soon on Nominee.”)

Harry and Nancy are eyeing Obama’s donors and they think they’ve got themselves a young, fat, and healthy cash cow.

Thing is, in the general election, Obama’s gonna have to spend money on HIMSELF ALONE like there’s no tomorrow.

Obama spent $36 million in April, exceeding his monthly fundraising for the first time. He and Clinton competed vigorously in Pennsylvania, where he substantially outspent her. He also spent heavily during April in Indiana and North Carolina, which held their primaries on May 6. Obama lost Indiana narrowly and won in North Carolina. (A.P.)

And that cow’s teats are gonna get plenty sore from being squeezed the more and more that John McCain surges ahead in the polls as the fall rolls along, and all that money for those congressional races that Harry and Nancy have their eyes on is gonna dry up.

On the other hand, Hillary’s donors are just getting started in raising money for her.

Hillary’s problem — despite the genius Jonathan Alter’s opining back in February that she’d run out of funding resources because her few supporters had maxed out — wasn’t that she had too few donors, it was that her millions of supporters just didn’t realize how much they needed to pitch in for her. Then the money began pouring in, from people donating $5-25 per month — even to that lovely boy who sold his bicycle to help her campaign.

And they are ready, willing, and ABLE to donate in huge sums — just as they did in April.

IN FACT: I’d say that Hillary’s supporters are ten times more fired up to give money at this point than ever before!

I’ve never been around such a motivated, energized group of people EVER!

(My hunch entirely.)

  • avwrobel

That, and also my idea that when Harry and Nancy come back after Nov elections with larger majorities they are not going to want a strong Democrat like Hillary to deal with as president; hell no! They want Obambi to push around. And they’re in the grip of the MSM pushing Obambi.

    • usedmeat

Harry and Nancy push any body around? Shirley, you jest.

      • Ann

yeah, it would take a totally incompetent and inexperienced neophyte to make pelosi and reid feel powerful. Hopefully we will all work very hard to make sure that obambi doesn’t get anywhere near the wh. thank god hillary is as tough as she is…she can stand up to reid, dean and pelosi like no other democrat.

    • workingclass artist

Hmmm….and now the DNC has tapped St. Al to have a fund raiser in NYC cause the DNC is broke and are lookin at holding the convention in the Parking Lot….chuckle…Guess they shoulda taken that letter from Hill donors more seriously….Hmmmm…..Good Post

I just wonder why BO’s people are not contributing?

  • http://www.myspace.com/helenrose44 Pittsburgh4Hillary08

I think women should make sure that they have a minority that is the only thing that will make them pay for ruining this country. I will vote down for years until every Democrat pays for this stolen election. I do not owe the Democrats anything they are an useless party and no Obamatons I dont give a flying fuck about Roe vs Wade because I believe you dont even know what an vagina looks like as Michelle was probley born Michael.

  • HARP

Is it just me or is Nancy Pelosi stating to look more and more like Katherine Harris ?

    • http://www.illusionofjoy.net Seth Warren

Like Obama looks more and more like George W. Bush? Yeah, I’m seeing it too.

    • Andy

LOL : yes she does !!

    • HillaryMadamePresident

      Ha, she does.

    • american sawbuck

Exactly like K Harris insanity and all

    • ginaswo

fxxxin a she does look like Harris-vote thief, suppressor of the people, she’s real tough against HER FELLOW DEMOCRATS but has no frakkin guts to take it to Dubyah.

and I WILL ABSOLUTELY GIVE AND GIVE AND GIVE TO HILLARY ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE

This article is spot on, I have just BEGUN to give, hubby can max out, daughter can max out, hexl Ill find people daily to go start giving til we get our ‘girl’ in the White House

and Fox scroll is saying Pelosi is contacting uncommitted SDs in Congress strong-arming them to end it

frak her..who the hexl does she think she is! I am outraged they would keep trying to push Hillary out..

WE ARE GOING TO THE DENVER AND THEN THE WHITE HOUSE, BELIEVE IT!

      BOOYAH!!!

      HILLYEAH!!!

    • Fred C. Dobbs

Harris is bustier, and just looks plain demented.

If I were related to her, she’d be my favorite “crazy Aunt Katherine!”

    • Patriot2008

I never thought of that but you are right, Katherine Harris for sure, and acts like her…
      I heard she took lessons…LOL
      Thanks for the laugh!

  • Bill

On the other hand, Hillary’s donors are just getting started in raising money for her.

    HUH?

  • yttik

Follow the money. It always leads to the truth.

It’s politics, no doubt everybody thinks Obama is a cash cow. And the DNC can’t wait to get their hands on his fundraising list. I can’t believe how my contact info is sold and traded among these guys. Trying to get off John Kerry’s list was like trying to escape the Matrix.

    • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity

Trying to get off John Kerry’s list was like trying to escape the Matrix.

      RRROFLLLL!!!

    • ginaswo

      ROTF!!!!!

Yeah cant wait to start sending them monopoly money, maroons, Ive already sent some courtesy of Edwards to DCCC

    • http://ascrivenerslament.blogspot.com/ Delilah

I helped create that Kerry list in 2003, and I’m sure now that he gave it to Obama because I recognize the tree-branching siglines (we’re all on multiple tie-in lists which can be sourced to individual power Dems, like Kerry & Gore) in my inbox. I also worked on Kerry’s Iowa caucus plan (it’s brilliant and simple), and, had I known that he was backing Obama, I could’ve told the Clinton campaign how the Kerry plan was organized and executed. Silly me. I thought Kerry would back Clinton.

  • BernieO

Am I the only person who is suspicious about the source of Obama’s donations? I could buy that he got all that money from individual donors for the first few months, but it seems unlikely to me that he is still able to rake that kind of money in from ordinary folks, especially since he is not doing that well in later primaries or the polls. It sure feels like there are some sugar daddies out there spreading cash around.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

OH MY GOD. I am so suspicious.

      IT stinks to high heavens.

We need a FORENSIC FINANCIAL EXPERT — yoohoo — are you listening? — to look into this.

I smell money coming in from overseas and not through proper channels.

Hillary makes her foreign donors jump through ALL the hoops. Barack does not. And god knows how else that money is getting funneled.

Someday, if we’re lucky, Barack himself will be in prison — with his friend Tony Rezko.

      • Michelle

Oh yeah – but did you notice – the Chicago Tribune reported tonight that “the Rezko jury recessed for a three-day weekend, without coming to a verdict on Thursday.” Awfully convenient – I bet Axelrod had something to do with that “three-day weekend” (I mean wasn’t last weekend a three-day weekend?!)

        • mahaska

are we being set up for an o.j. style verdict?

      • beebop

The letter “survey” asking for donations from the DNC included a letter from Hillary. My guess is that if you are a BO supporter, you got a BO letter. I would LOVE to know how many letters went out from each candidate, wouldn’t you? That would tell us A WHOLE LOT about who has more “little donors” and who took more bundled money.

They aren’t doing so well for themselves at the DNC so they are PRAYING that the BO supporters are deep pockets to counter balance the HRC deep pockets in Florida who are saying “NO WAY.”

I wrote on Hill’s letter and sent it back with my survey. I said “not one dime to screw her campaign.” I hope that understand that I meant before and after they put little toady up ….

      • Fred C. Dobbs

Local Las Vegas street jive from the courthouse weasels sez that the local DA cut a warrant for Tony Rezko on 20 MAY 2008. I’m not privy to whether it’s for money laundering or Bad Markers – Nevada prosecutes people who stiff casinos on Markers, like any other bad check.

Can anyone point me to a link on this?

    • Andy

You are definitely not alone BernieO. Your suspicions are well founded: it smells dirty…

      • HillaryMadamePresident

        It smells Palestinian.

    • Michelle

The story is this – Obama’s MOST visited page on his website is the “GEAR” page – all of those sales get booked as contributions and since t-shirts and stuff are typically around $25, it is the KIDS that have been buying that crap up like it is candy and let’s be HONEST, everyone knows that those KIDS are COLLEGE KIDS and they are likely using their PARENTS’ credit cards…

In short, if you have a kid in college who is “digging Obama” – you might want to check the credit card statement on that card you gave them for “emergencies” and “plane tickets home.”

      • usedmeat

Any body know where the Obama “Gear is made?
it would be a hoot if it were made in some third world sweat shop.

        • Gary McGowan

That is a very good question. Maybe the labels would give a lead to the answer.

          “Sew faster. SEW FASTER!

Malia and Sasha want a PONY!!!

    • nancysabet

His money was coming from big donners not from little ones, and when he is nominated (nightmare) he will be nothing but a burdon to Dems to carry him on…because Republicans who have donated to his campaign will be giving to MacCain not to this idiot.

Nancy just doesn’t like the thought of another woman being higher than she is. I recognize her from Corporate America. The Nancies climb up that ladder and kick it right out from under themselves to ensure that nobody can follow and threaten their token spots. The more nervous they get about it, the more they finger their Nancy pearls.

In Corporate America, the women just slightly below The Nancy watch and wait for as long as it takes for The Nancy to slip near a figurative corporate hole. When The Nancy does this, they rush to her side and kick her ass directly into the abyss and then throw dirt on her. The feeling is exquisite, second only to good sex. In some cases, it trumps good sex.

Nancy, we’re watching. Don’t slip, ya’ hear?

    • Lillian

Too funny and true! It’ll be good to see that power wrested from her!!

    • Andy

Uppity, you are killing me; I can’t stop laughing !!

    • http://hillaryorbust.blogspot.com Hillary or Bust

This makes sense. I could not figure out why Pelosi was being so horrible to Hillary and then it occurred to me that she’s perhaps gearing herself up to try to be the first female president.

Whatever her motivations, she has completely lost my respect during this primary.

    • workingclass artist

agree Uppity…Nancy’s defective ego is so glaring as to be Shakespearean…except that the rest of her persona is so mediochre she would not rate as a 3rd tier character on a 2nd rate telenovella….chuckle….

      • Gary McGowan

Please let’s not forget that Pelosi is ONLY TYPICAL of the problems our country faces.

Two or three years ago, a lot of us thought better of her, though some may have had their suspicions.

Now, more and more people very justifiably criticize her, and worse.

What I’m trying to say is that if we just settle for scapegoats, we will get only deeper into where we have been heading… a world run by cartels with even more and worse wars, and less and less food, less medical care, less education…

  • YellowDawgDemocrat

I heard the Obama campaign purchased an expensive gift at Tiffany’s. Nancy will never get the money. Michelle Obama wants luxuries, and no one will stop the greedy, gold digger. It’s all about MEshell.

I posted this link on HuffPo.

Clearly the editors are out for mocha lattes.

My posts get scrubbed 99% of the time on HuffPo.

      And I was banned twice.

      This is my third handle.

      • HillaryMadamePresident

I had you listed as a favorite, at huffnpuff. I blogged there before I knew there were better places to blog. I noticed that during March, all of my favorites were gone. I looked on a couple of profile pages and saw your comment about being banned…so I left, too. One could not make a positive comment about Hillary without 10-15 hateful Obamabots calling names. Honestly, do media people ever read those comments and threats of violence and come to the conclusion that many Obama supporters are awful and potentially dangerous? How can they ever think that a man with supporters like that would be elected POTUS?

        • LDW

I haven’t been banned at HuffPo, yet, but they wait an average of 30 minutes to post my comments, and some never make it, even though they don’t transgress the HuffPo guidelines.

Nasty stuff posted against HRC makes the cut every time, but any perceived insult to the Messiah is purged.

FYI – Speaker Nancy Pelosi is on the CA primary ballot on June 3rd – if you live in SF, vote for her Democratic opponent! She could use a wake-up call that people are not pleased with her leadership in the Democratic Party. My mom is in SF and she is going to do so.

    • Patrick Walker

Pelosi has to go just because of her Congressional record (or sheer lack thereof). They blame the Republicans for not even trying? Sorry, that so junior high school. We should expect better from adults.

Her backstabbing of Hillary just ensures it.

  • Michelle

What I don’t understand is HOW Pelosi can walk away from Susie Buell – major Clinton fundraiser – who lives in SF! It is amazing to me how much Pelosi has turned on her core constituency – women!

  • jyotinc

Pelosi is another spineless democrat. In her leadership, Congress has the lowest job performance rating, an embarrassment compare to Bush who got higher rating than them.

Kinda how I’m feeling about the DNC (and the DCCC and DSCC) right about now.

They think that Obama’s supporters are like a giant ATM and that Barry’s gonna hand over the PIN number. The “elders” are fooling themselves — there’s no way that the Obamabots are going to open up their wallets for any reason other than the continued glorification of The One. Down ticket races don’t quite fit the bill.

  • Susan1968

    Obambi has the email addresses.

He’s got the largest fundraising database ever. All the information is archived.

There was an article about it. They said he will wield power in the DNC even if he loses, thanks to his database.

However, think of it — even outspending Hillary he still couldn’t close the deal.

I think that database is predominately the MySpace kids who will lose interest when Obambi loses in November.

I’ll say it again — if Dean & company had just waited. Let Obambi get some distance between himself and his shady past.

But the “progressives” in the DNC were too anxious to wrestle power from the Clintons.

We truly need a third party.

    Now.

    • HillaryMadamePresident

I agree. I was on John Kerry’s list and after he lost the election, I never responded to one single request from him. Obama’s list won’t mean a thing after the the American people see video upon video of his supporters and friends saying the d@mndest things. We sort of prefer people who are pleased to live in our fine country. All of these great youtube videos need to be shown on television. YouTube TV, anyone?

And yes, we need a third party.

  • Lillian

I read somewhere that an independent is standing against her. Let’s seriously decampaign Pelosi as that’ll show the SDs that there’re consequences…

Fearing AA wrath? How about that of disenfranchized voters?

    • prabhata

I live in Pelosi’s district. She won’t lose.

      • Gary McGowan

        Why?

      • http://deleted AnninCa

She will if we find someone better to run against her.

It’s time to back someone. I not in her area, but I’d work to get rid of her.

She’s been despicable to Hillary in this campaign, and she needs to be voted out.

  • Susan1968

    Found the article:

Almost 2 million people have entered personal information on Obama pages on social-networking Web sites such as Facebook, MySpace and his campaign’s mybarackobama.com, offering home addresses, phone numbers, their views on specific issues and the names of friends.

For the interest groups or Democratic candidates he chooses to sell it to, it would provide a gold mine of information and access to potential donors.

People who provide their information on line may not realize that the data they are posting at mybarackobama.com may have a long afterlife and find its way to other campaigns in future election cycles.
According to the Obama campaign’s online privacy statement, it reserves the right to “make personal information available to organizations with similar political viewpoints and objectives, in furtherance of our own political objectives.”

Federal election laws require campaigns to charge for the use of their data. The campaign must either sell the information or record the transaction as an in-kind contribution at fair- market value.

    • Gary McGowan

There’s even more to it (The least of which is at least knowing who owns Facebook and Myspace, and what “profiling” means in this context.)

People should really read “Is the Devil in Your Laptop?,” which is an easily downloadable pdf. It has various chapters, so it’s easy to dig in with a topic of interest.

People participate in those “social networking” sites as if it were a game. They don’t see that the game is playing them.

  • prabhata

Agreed. HRC’s base is older, a reason for lower $ from internet and lower voters at caucuses. Because I gave to Edwards, BO must have gotten my name, and called me for $. It felt good to say: “I don’t like Obama; I’m a Hillary supporter. Good Bye.”

  • TeakWoodKite

Now in another time prior to being a kite I worked on a dairy milking cows…and there isn’t enough bag balm on the entire planet that would help that old bag called BO.

Think she gets her Bag Balm in a drum or by tank truck?

  • rwc

So LockJaw aka: Pelosi and RigorMortis aka: Reid are going to shakedown Barky for some payola.

Well that was predictable. LockJaw and RigorMortis are attracted to cash the same way flies are to shit.

The problem is Barky ain’t gonna share the wealth with two perennial losers and gutless wonders like them. He may promise but will never deliver. After all once he has the nomination he doesn’t have to listen to such worms anymore since they used up what leverage they had.

How the Democrats put two of most corrupt and incompetent people like LockJaw and RigorMortis in positions of leadership is just bizarre.

This is a copy of a discussion between Dick Armey, Republican, and Wolffe and Shuster televised early on in the campaign-sometime around the first debates. Armey’s comments are so pro-Hillary, but as he points out, Hillary’s views don’t jibe with his. His comments on Obama are not positive. But it appears Armey did not take Chicago style politics into account.

ARMEY: . . . . John Edwards needs to understand there are two things about Hillary Clinton that he must know. One, she‘s smarter than he is. And, two, she‘s tougher than he is. And if he hasn‘t figured that out, it‘s going to a painful end instead of just an end.
WOLFFE: And the Hillary folks are right to point out, by the way, that look at the national polls, look at the nominal match-ups between Hillary and all the Republicans across the country. She does as well, if not better, than the other Democratic candidates. So the argument doesn‘t really stack up so much. He‘s projecting at some point in the future—you just can‘t predict like how a general election will play out like that.
SHUSTER: Richard, you mentioned Barack Obama is taking a more sort of nuanced, subtle approach, as far as getting in his digs at Hillary. At a certain point, does he need to sort of ratchet up things if he‘s going to have a chance at essentially defeating Hillary Clinton in Iowa?
Or does he decide, you know what, perhaps she‘s the inevitable frontrunner, I‘m not going to cause that sort of damage?
WOLFFE: I don‘t think that‘s what he‘s doing at all. He thinks he has a—he‘s really got a good ground game in Iowa, that it‘s a three way race and an upset in Iowa will change this whole race completely. And I think that‘s probably true.
Having said that, he does need to improve his game on TV. I think his attitude toward TV is that it‘s somewhere—whether it‘s a TV interview or a TV debate—it‘s somehow more trivial, more glib than his speeches, which are sort of literary exercises. That‘s fine in one sense. It‘s very intellectual and noble. But TV is the medium here. He has to play by the rules of the game. And that means using some of these lines that are in his beautifully crafted speeches and using them on the debates. He doesn‘t use the zingers that he crafts himself.
    Why not?
I just haven‘t ever gotten a good answer out of the Obama campaign on that one.
SHUSTER: Dick Armey, what do you think about Barack Obama?
    ARMEY: Well, I…
SHUSTER: I mean he‘s got to be an intriguing candidate to you on several levels.
ARMEY: The one thing that I‘ll give him over Edwards, Edwards just cracks me up. I mean Obama at least understands that you ought to try to pretend—project that you have some policy objectives in mind. And he‘s made sort of itty bitty suggestions. He does talk like a sociologist running for president of the faculty senate, and he‘ll never get over that. And that, in the final analysis, will be his undoing, because he just can‘t compete with a realistic able, serious-minded, policy-oriented candidate like Hillary Clinton.
I mean there is so much substance to Hillary—mind you, from my point of view, all misguided substance. But there is so much substance to Hillary Clinton that these two guys, they just basically look like a couple of sophomores hoping they can make the A Team next year.

He does talk like a sociologist running for president of the faculty senate, and he‘ll never get over that. And that, in the final analysis, will be his undoing, because he just can‘t compete with a realistic able, serious-minded, policy-oriented candidate like Hillary Clinton.

Very powerful statements. It is such a shame that this primary season has turned into a popularity contest for the kiddies( who have never voted before, and might not vote again) to choose Joe Camel. Too bad they don’t realize that the man is OVER 30 and not to be trusted by their generation (one mantra they decided not to revive from the 60′s)

regarding obambi’s ill gotten funds, i think it was bob dylan who said in an early song…”money doesn’t talk, it swears.”

democratic party as we knew it is no more.

fascist oligarchy has taken over the “left”. big payoffs in the power pipeline. wolves in sheep’s clothing. lot’s of folks being fooled.

interesting times. we are being shocked awake. the obama coup is beyond belief, but it is indeed happening.

we’re not in kansas anymore. toto.

Susan, good hunch. First of all, Obama’s supporters are strictly emotional doners. They aren’t interested in supporting the DNC. It’s obvious. The DNC is pretty broke.

The DNC will remain strapped, I suspect.

I have talked to many Hillary voters, and I’ve yet to find one who will vote for Obama. This is a mass defection.

I agree totally Susan. We don’t need to start a new party. We need to take back our party. Get Pelosi et al out of there. What a puke Pelosi is. These people are the reason Democrats have a bad name in the press because of these farrrrrr left idiots. Pelosi has no right to try and end this race. The delegate counts from each state won do count in the nomination process. However, any superdelegate number count will only count at the convention. I am hoping that most of the remaining superdelegates go for Hillary and that many will switch from Obama to Hillary. Another thing, I think South Dakota and Montana will not feel so good about Obamation after the latest pastor flap. I want her to go all the way to the convention because I do think she will win. Go Hillary. If not, then its McCain. At least if it has to be McCain, I know he loves America and I’ll sleep better at night.

Well.. the DNC can try to milk that cash cow all they want for the other Dem races, but their problem remains that Obama voters are not voting the down tickets — in large numbers. What good is that cash if the Democratic voters they haven’t chased from the Party will not vote for anyone on a ticket but Obama?
