Like Two Peas in a Pod
By PaganPower on June 2, 2008 at 3:45 AM in Bamboozling, Barack Obama, Father Michael Pfleger, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.
Obama can be as deeply disappointed as he wants to be about Father Pfleger’s comments. But his fake outrage doesn’t fool Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League. Because Donohue knows that the relationship between the two of them is not the casual pretense that Obama claims. In fact Obama and Pfleger have a long history together.
“Obama and Pfleger are no strangers. Indeed, when Obama was in the state senate in Illinois, he conveniently arranged for Father Pfleger’s St. Sabina’s Church to receive state monies for its social programs. Of course, the guardians of church and state separation said nothing then and they are saying nothing now. That’s because they’re all in the tank for Obama.
As should be evident, Donohue isn’t someone that bamboozles very easily. He sees right through Obama’s smoke and mirrors routine. And he doesn’t quite understand how it is that Obama came to associate himself outside the mainstream radical people like Pfleger.
Just as important, why is it that of all the wonderful Catholic priests in the Chicago Archdiocese, Obama long ago chose Pfleger to hang with?
That really is the question. How is it that Obama just happens to run with people that are completely opposed to the message he promotes? Is it a character flaw? And if so, wouldn’t that be a fatal flaw indeed for someone aspiring to become President? Just what sort of role model is Obama promoting here? The United Hate of America?
Donahue then asks the eternal question. The conundrum if you will.
“Senator Obama says he wants to bring people together. Then why does he choose as his clerical friends people like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Father Pfleger? They are two peas in a pod, both equally divisive, separated only by the color of their skin.”
And this question needs to be answered. Perhaps we should also be asking the Democratic elite why they are supporting a candidate that has such controversial and contradictory associations. It has never made any sense to me.
