Live Blogging Committee Hearing [Update with notes of Craig Della Penna and Truthteller]

COMMENTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW CLOSED. GO TO THREAD #2 for MORE live-blogging by TRUTHTELLER.

GOOD MORNING ALL! GO HILLARY! (LIVE on C-Span.org and WaPo online)

garin.jpgI’m checking media sites:

Halperin links to WSJ:

Garin: Not So Fast: “Even though voting ends Tuesday, Clinton’s top strategist says “it’s very unlikely the nomination will be secured.”

RIGHT ON! Craig Della Penna’s notes below:

6:44 AM Well, as expected, the DNC ‘rules’ and bylaws committee met to anoint The Hallowed One.

Alexis Herman was Shocked, shocked – at the apparent interest of the public at large.

Quorum established, pledge of allegiance, complete with the ‘under god’ clause,

7:02 AM The Dean himself arrives – praise all around, even a few ‘Huzzahs’

Dean proffers the desultory faint praise for HRC, oh and of course glowing words for BHO…

Looks like they’re treating this as an opportunity for advertising, blah, blah, blah…

Dean reflects on how angry he was with the Dems and how Al Gore talked him off the ledge… are you listening, HRC?

Dean: “It’s not about BHO, it’s not about HRC, it’s about our country.”

Oh for goodness sake, this is stroke city, Dean the uniter, this is all about calming down that hysterical woman so they can show the bitch the door.

“Must respect the voters of Fl and MI, but must respect those who followed the rules and the 48 states that were good little children.”

Go, Party Unity, Go

…can you tell I’m a little cynical about this?

This is complete bullshit – these people are engaged in a complete justification dance. The fix is in.

7:20 AM To hell with these poltroons…

[Truthteller]:
10:55 AM EST The presenter for the Florida DEMOS is schooling the DNC. How refreshing. They have already been punished, he said. He is now explaining how Republicans have defrauded Florida again and again since the late 19th century. This is a Republican game. Now Herman ridicules him about the number of emails she has received.

10:58 AM EST Senator Bill Nelson speaks on behalf of the Florida DEMOS. He acknowledges Wexler, although Wexler supports Obama, who has disenfranchised Florida. Two questions: Count the 29 JAN primary and uphold one person one vote? And then how does one apportion the delegates, which is the purview of the committee? Seat the entire delegation, he says. Reinstate the highest number of delegates.

11:03 AM EST He reminds them of the sensitivity of the problem, the historical precedents. Corrine Brown gestures in support. Reminds Committee of how voters wanted to cast a vote for a Democratic nominee.

11:06 AM EST The “people of Florida took it to the streets.” Voters rally on behalf of candidates, even though candidates did not campaign in Florida. Nelson discusses the grassroots efforts in FL. He urges them to recognize their votes.

11:09 AM EST “This is not about a candidate.” This is about the hope of 1.75 million who cast their votes. He gestures toward the committee, signifying that Florida’s fate is in their hands.

11:11 AM EST Obamabot Janice Griffin is now claiming that misinformed voters who thought their votes would not count were disenfranchised. And the Obamabots in the crowd cheer. Nelson disagrees, but he notes that the turnout was twice what is was ever before. It is in your hands to change the disenfranchisement, Griffin. We shall see, for she is an Obamabot equipped with Obama talking points.

11:13 AM EST DNC member McDonald does not understand the Florida legislature and the politics of the paper trail in Florida. Nelson is now disabusing him of his misconceptions. Nelson explains how the paper trail was used as blackmail by the Republicans. How can someone as misinformed as McDonald sit on committee? Nelson also tells committee that they must acknowledge that they must recognize a certified and legitimate election.

11:17 AM EST McDonald is attempting to understand the legislative debacle in Florida. Nelson also explains to committe that $800,080 thousand could never fund a caucus in a state such as Florida: it is too large, and the state has never had a caucus. Corrine Brown reacted adversely when the word caucus was mentioned. Nelson is now explaining how Florida proposed solutions such as the mail in ballot, but parties could not agree. Tells McDonald that Florida tried over and over and over to satisfy the DNC.

11:21 AM EST State Senator Arthenia Joyner speaks on behalf of the Clinton campaign. This is a wise choice. She reminds that Florida voters are no different than other voters. She also offers her autobiography. Emphasizes the need to count every vote, and now she discusses the legislature and the Republican manipulation of the paper trail provision. She also notes that Florida Democrats in both houses of the state legislature to amend the bill to restore the correct date of the primary. But in the end they had to vote for the bill, as they needed a verifiable paper trail. She outlines the quandary of Florida Democrats well. She now cites Maya Angelou: “you may not be heard, but speak anyway.”

11:31 AM EST She reminds committee that OUR PARTY would always include Florida Democrats, who never thought THEIR PARTY would abandon them. “My state has already suffered enough.” Notes that they were already deprived of retail campaigning.

11:34 AM EST The outcome of the election is our responsibility. Florida Demos demand that votes be counted, and it is the DNC’s responsibility to honor their vote. She also notes that we are responsible for electing Democrats from President to the bottom of the ticket. Now subsumes all this beneath the notion of “making America better” by seating the whole delegation at “OUR convention.” And to do it TODAY in the name of unity.

11:36 AM EST Now cites Dean: you cannot win a state if you do not show up. Herman interrupts Joyner. Now the constitution and the “right to be heard.” Reminds the committee of the potential theft and the silence.

11:38 AM EST They have the right to bring FL back into the Democratic fold. Let’s count every vote and win in November. Her impassioned presentation was received well by the audience.

11:39 AM EST Obama supporter Katz of FL tells Joyner that her words should be universally accepted. “Seat all delegates,” and now moves toward compromise: we can seat in multiple ways. And now Obamabot Katz claims 3 million would have voted, and Joyner agrees. Katz attempted to invalidate her.

11:41 AM EST Yvonne Gates, uncommitted, notes that Joyner wants all votes to be counted. Joyner wants it all. A full vote is what she wants, not a compromise.

11:42 AM EST Donna Brazile “uncommitted” showers her with pleasantries. Donna reminds her of 2000 and of disenfranchisement. Brazile cites the “voices that were not heard.” That is an Obamabot talking point. Remember Katz. Rules 6 & 7 – affirmative action and inclusion. Did we meet these criteria? And did we engage in full participation? Was diversity reflected? Again, she and other Obamabots are citing negative evidence.

11:46 AM EST Joyner reminds Brazile that Florida has met the requirements of Rules 6 & 7.

11:47 AM EST Clinton supporter Flournoy invalidates the Obamabot argument of “silent voices.” You count what have you have, Joyner says. All votes should count, whether it be 1 or 1 million. I am glad Flournoy undermined the Obamabot argument that is predicated on negative evidence.

11:49 AM EST Obamabot Wexler is now representing the Obama campaign. I guess we will see what money can buy.

11:53 AM EST OBAMABOT TALKING POINTS: Cites the rules, and now mentions the pledge. He also says Clinton says the primary would not count. Refers to the primary as abnormal. Obama “not was well known.” And those commercials in FL? And the press conferences? Obama respected the pledge, and mindless audience cheers.

11:55 AM EST Now claims people in Florida should not blame Obama for the debacle. And now he is misrepresenting the position of the entire Florida Democratic Congressional delegation regarding their decision to not hold a second Presidential primary. He is attempting to invoke a false sense of unity. And again, Obama is not responsible. Is he admitting that Obama is responsible? And now he is screaming. Someone ask him to calm down. High theatrics are not needed.

11:57 AM EST Wexler supports Ausman petition. And he cites the Republicans as justification. Should Democrats follow Republicans. And we should commend Obama for offering this concession? And why is someone in the press core clapping? Obama can kiss my ass. He also desires partial votes for superdelegates. Somehow this will restore unity in his small and venal mind.

12:00 PM EST Ausman for him is dignified. His presentation is weak, for he offered no specifics on Florida politics. Lots of histrionics and no substance.

12:01 PM EST Alice Germond, uncommitted, asks about the votes and those who did not vote during the “event” in FL. She is now concerned that the notion that there is a nonbinding vote may have affected turnout. She is now citing the property tax as the cause for turnout. This is another Obamabot talking point. Germond now claims so many more would participate if their vote would count. She desires to reconcile hypotheticals with fact. Remember, the Obama campaign is predicating its arguments on a hypothetical scenario we do not know exists. Again, everything the Obama campaign says and does is baseless.

12:05 PM EST Wexler: compromise, unity, etc. etc. And he thinks this will help Democrats win in FL.

12:07 PM EST Flournoy will ask him about his position on full restoration. Wexler cites rules, but he misunderstands the rules. He is citing an interpretation of the rules that is contested. And he is citing a petition as evidence. “Let us unify.” But he assumes the petition unifies. Always follow their assumptions. Now Flournoy asks again, do you oppose full restoration? Wexler dodges the question. He says the question is unity. He refuses to answer Flournoy’s very simple question. Flournoy now clarifies a point on 5 OCT memo. “Do not have to,” not “forbidden.” In other words, one can or cannot participate in the slating process.

WEXLER DID NOT ANSWER FLOURNOY’S QUESTION. HE WILL NOT SAY WHETHER OR NOT HE SUPPORTS FULL RESTORATION.

12:12 PM EST: Ickes asks him to explain what the compromise is, and what the other option would be. Wexler responds disrespectfully. Again, reiterates support for Ausman petition. And he cites PA and OH delegate victories for Clinton as justification? What does Ohio and PA have to do with FL? And what does this have to do with “unity?” Or are we to accept Obama as “unity?” This seems divisive to me.

This Wexler is hostile and obnoxious. He has no respect for the law. He is a typical Obamabot.

12:16 PM EST: Review slate after petition, for Obama did not have the opportunity to review slate in the past. And now he claims that Obama should not be punished for following the rules.

12:17 PM EST: Alice Huffman, Clinton supporter. Now Wexler is blaming the committee. Again, high theatrics. Again, assumes petition is unity. And she notes that Wexler did not answer her question. And she notes that we do not have to follow Republicans. I LOVE IT.

12:21 PM EST: Now Wexler claims he is a champion of voter rights. It is all about Wexler. ME ME ME. He says he is most committed, and that is why Obama chose him. This is ridiculous. Now Obamabot Katz claims Wexler is the champion of voting rights in FL.

What we have learned so far: Howard Dean likes to say “extraordinary”…a lot.

Just listening to Dean is almost too much. I have nothing but contempt for the guy. If you look closely there is an immense nearly transparent middle finger pointing in his direction.

After reading Brazile’s latest rant I am not particularly optimistic about today. But the fight will go on regardless.

    • Alex01

If you look closely there is an immense nearly transparent middle finger pointing in his direction.

I see it, and second it!

Dean’s comments about the Republicans that voted Democratic in Ohio sticking with the Democratic party demonstrates that he is clearly delusional.

I just wrote that (I added Brazile’s name, too) on the empty reply form that I sent back to the DNC with NObama in big letters on the outside – in their own pre-paid envelope.

Howard Dean, you disingenuous prick. You were part of every sexist thing that happened in this race and we will never forgive you, Your Prickiness. YOu hypocritical piece of crap, I cannot believe you think that what you are saying now matters any longer. You’ve been part and parcel to everything that happened here and everyone who supports Hillary Clinton knows it too. The problem is, you too are a radical off-the-cliff left wing nutcase too.

OK, so now I get it. Dean et al don’t just want to get their hands on Obama’s fundraising for their own campaigns. Obama/Axelrod have promised them ‘a seat at the table’.

Dean thinks he’s finally going to get his hands on presidential power. Get in line behind Richardson and his ilk, Mr. Bean.

No matter what happens today, Clinton wins: Compromise (negating any votes whatsoever) = an automatic appeal by the Clinton campaign.

She’s the only one willing to risk everything for the voters (the voters!), which is what Democrats are supposed to do, damn it.

Howard Dean couldn’t be more Obamavious if he tried.

“Restoring America to its greatness,” my foot. It’s about switching America to Marxism.

    • Patrick Walker

Obama isn’t a Marxist; if he was a Marxist as you say, he wouldn’t have been involved in Chicago “pay-to-play” politics. He’s not far left; he’s just plays one on TV.

Obama is nothing but an enabler for cronyism which makes him even more contemptible than him actually being a Marxist. Nothing more. Obama is doing this for power and cash.

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Florida especially is a case that should have been handled with kid gloves and Dean put on a fucking catcher’s mit and tried to deal with this because he wanted Obama all along.

  • NY still loves Hillary

OMG – “include all 48 states”!!!!

  • artist

Someone needs to fax this new FL poll to Dean:

    PRESIDENT – FLORIDA (WRL)
    John McCain (R) 58%
    Barack Obama (D) 35%

    • NY still loves Hillary

Makes you want to move to FL so you can raise the McCain % even higher…

    • Alex01

Wow, thanks for sharing that. :-)

    • fly

strip the delegate votes by even 50% ..McCain gets my vote!

      and i am from Florida

I will not tolerate the stripping of my vote!

And the delegates represent my vote!

      I did not vote a 1/2 of a vote!

      end of story!

McCain will get my vote if they strip 1/2 of my vote in a republican game that Dean and brazile have gamed for Obama!

I as a Florida voter and 2004 delegate for the State Of Florida will no longer accept any form of stealing my vote for either party’s benefit and for the manipulation of our electoral process!

Howard Dean is a scum bucket..he is no better and in my opinion ( yez mine) is worse because he gamed this system to fuck a specific candidate to benefit another.

This was planned from the beginning and it was planned to manipulate this entire primary process.

I don’t care if anyone agrees with me or not..i was there from the get go on this and the manipulation was done in many ways.

Particulary people were set up to be on certain dem web sites passing on propaganda about what was going on…from the inception of Deans manipulation of this electoral process.

Alexis Herman is full of shit. She thinks if she speaks in a measured manner, that people will buy her BS. She’s not making her lies sound any better than they are.

    • http://www.12counts.com iam0nly1

Agreed. What was this bull about the candidates being allowed to campaign in those states? I’ve read the rules and it says they couldn’t and if they did they get no delegates. They are changing the rules AGAIN to protect Baby O.

“Send a strong signal”. How ridiculous! So, punish the democratic voters for something that a republican legislature decided. Real slick. Dumb mofos.

  • http://paganpower.wordpress.com/ PaganPower

Herman has made her position very clear already.

  • AngryWhitePerson

Howard Dean can go screw himself. “I was so mistreated….” but he stuck with the party for the country’s sake. Newsflash dipshit, endorsing misogyny, race baiting and empty suits is NOT good for the country. Disenfranchising two states is NOT good for the country.

Sometimes, you get rid of the party when it’s not good for the country. KnowNothings and Whigs are not exactly the hot item in town. It’s time for a change all right.

  • Nebraskan

Wow, you people are making really intelligent comments (sarcasm). Just accept the fact that hrc won’t be the party nominee. Sorry to rain on your parade. And for those of you planning on voting for McCain, Nader, or some other individual, I hope you feel satisfied when McCain wins, this endless war continues, and MORE PEOPLE DIE just because of some spiteful protest votes.

    • It’s Not Me

I will feel satisfied when McCain wins. Next time maybe we’ll nominate the candidate who can actually BEAT the GOP. Damn idiot. Go away.

      • Al

        hear hear

      • Nebraskan

So if McCain wins because you and other hrc supporters vote for him or someone else out of protest, and he continues this endless war, will you enlist in the service and go fight in Iraq? Didn’t think so.

        • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Why do you seem to think that Obama has ending the war on his list of priorities? lol McCain or Nobody. That’s it. Obama never. Kick rocks!

          • Nebraskan

I take it you’ll be enlisting then? Not.

            • lastlemming

And Obama has done what to stop this war? I believe he has voted for every appropriation to keep it going.

And take at look at his foreign policy advisors. Can you say–well–NeoLiberal?

        • Kafir

You’ve obviously bought into the fabrication that the Anointed One is going to pull troops out? Too many O supporters are making lots of money on the Iraq situation, it won’t happen.

          • Nebraskan

You’ve obviously bought into the fabrication that the Anointed One is going to pull troops out? Too many O supporters are making lots of money on the Iraq situation, it won’t happen.

I believe that both hrc and obama would work to pull out troops from this horrible war. I am more inclined to believe that obama would do it faster than hrc, because after all, she supported it and he did not when bush sent this country into war.

But what is for certain is that we know where McCain stands, don’t we? To read some of these comments about voting for McCain en masse just to avoid seeing obama elected strikes me as being ridiculously stupid because LIVES ARE AT STAKE. You need to realize that.

If you want to talk about lives, lets talk about the Black lives shivering in the middle of winter in a flat “rehabbed” by Rezko.

Please understand that Obama is a deeply corrupt politician–he is here to take the Chicago machine national.

        • spamccensor

          Obama is corrupt.

How can anyone take you seriously when you continue to pretend he’s a viable candidate, despite being a hair away from indictment?

Do you really believe you can troll?

          • Nebraskan

Do you really believe you can troll?

Trolling? A good portion of the comments here have boiled down to utterly base remarks like “Howard Dean is a prick!” or “F*** Howard Dean”, so if you want to censor someone open your eyes.

I am raising a very important issue that I find to be extremely disturbing – how will all of you who have blatantly declared you will vote for McCain as a protest act against Obama live with seeing the war continue and more PEOPLE DIE?

            Obama 08 and 12

            • rjj

Nebraska, sweetie, your state went for bush 2/1 both elections. You want to fob off this empty suit on folks you might start closer to home.

I watched a bit of the broadcast this morning and though Dean conducted himself with his usual dignity and good humor.

I like being a Democrat. I believe in my party. But I am sick that we are planning to run a candidate even more ethically compromised than George Bush and I’m dead serious about that.

    • Nellie

      Nebraskan,

Kenya has only 36 million people and Obama’s commie cousin Raila Odinga slaughtered 1600 of them – do the math America has 306 Million plus people.

Oh an other than destriying businesses and property, Commie cousin Raila, the Butcher of Kenya, leads his sub – human monsters around to rape 5-10 year old boys and girls, one little 5 year old boy was raped 10 times, and the sub human monsters hold hubands to watch their wives be gang raped, befor they chop said husbands to bits.

Then there are the 600,000 people who were forced to flee to Unganda or suffer atrocites and brutallity worse than that of Hitler or Stalins thugs.

Obama thinks its just AOKAY, and forces the Butcher of Kenya, on a the President of Kenya, who has been America’s staunch ally for 45 yeras, and makes the rest of Raila’s and Obama’s family, from the lowest depths of hell, cabinet ministers.

You want us to vote for the sick twisted monster named Obama who not only sanctioned these heinous atrocites, but was instrumental in REWARDING this behavior, with top government jobs?

Missionaries by the way are still trying to get out into the country side to find the victims of The Butcher of Kenya’s victims outside of Nairobi.

NO way in Hell. I may die trying, but Obama and his heinous family of sub human monsters from hell need to be sent to the Hague for Genocide, and the worst Crimes Against Humainity since Attila the Huns struck.

      • Kafir

Those peace loving Muslims really did a nice job in Kenya, Odinga made a great move in hooking up with the likes of them. Obama’s support of Odinga and his minions should be investigated. Odinga’s campaign website smacks of Axelrod, too… “change” and “hope” all over the place, a la Deval Patrick and B. Hussein Obama.

Even if she gets past the Rules Committee, Dean The Prick has the Credentials committee stacked. He hand picked most of them, including college students, just like the McGovern days. This entire thing is stacked and doomed. This is a loser right up till the second tuesday in November. The Republicans could put up Nixon again from the grave and beat Barack Obama. If Dean and Pelosi and Obama want to play with themselves in the dark about it, let them. It’s a loser. And so manyyyyy of us will help to make it so.

  • We Will Remember in November!

The one thing you have to admire about republicans they know how to win elections. Republican’s policies are all screwed up but they know how to win elections. Rules to them are important but winning is more important.

Now, the democratic party knows how to lose elections. The democrats have great policies that represent the broad base of Americans but the democrats put rules above winning elections. To me the democratics are soft. They rather play nice then win. How is that working out?

Hillary Clinton represents both the Right policies that appeal to a broad majority of Americans and Hillary knows how to win elections. She is the best of both the democratics (policies good; but LOSERS) and Republicans (policies bad; but Winners). Why is she not the Democratic Nominee? See paragraph two above.

    I will remember in November!

    • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Very true “I will remember…” Very true. We are far too soft a party and it’s so sickening.

    • workingclass artist

The GOP is actually a fairly homogenous party with few factions….
This is the key to their success…

      • We Will Remember in November!

That might be true. But the republics will always nominate their best candidate. When this whole process started; I said the repubs will pick McCain as their nominee even when the MSM said McCain was through and McCain was carrying his own luggage thru the airport. I also picked Hillary as the democratic candidate because she is the strongest Democratic candidate. I guess I forget what I wrote previously –winning elections is the Democratics strongest attribute!

        I Will Remember in November!

Here’s the thing – this is just going to have to get WORSE before it gets BETTER. I know – all of us can’t believe things can get WORSE – but it can, and it will. The only way for the PLEOs to abandon Obama now is going to be to allow him to become the “presumptive nominee” and then for him to come undone with all of the GOP scrutiny. We all know that Obama is not fit for the presidency, his qualifications are nil, his associations are terrifying, his gaffes are worse than Bush – BUT the only way the DNC higher-ups can get what they want is this (in 5 acts):

Act 1: Make Obama the “presumptive nominee”
Act 2: Pretend that everything is a-OK – which means get his fundraising list, get his donors giving to the DNC and the convention (which btw -is broke!), and make it appear that everyone is on board
Act 3: Pretend to be “shocked” when the GOP starts taking him down and pretend that they didn’t know that his poll ratings would drop 10+ points once he was attacked by the Republicans
Act 4: Superdelegates get nervous and start defecting to Clinton whose campaign is only in “suspension” and then the RBC meets pre-convention in mid-July (or early August) and because of the all of the protests about FL and MI – reconsiders today’s decision.
Act 5: The “new” RBC decision gets voted on at the convention and FL and MI are reinstated at FULL delegate strength and in the EXACT allocation with their primaries, and then Obama does not get a majority of the votes on the 1st ballot in Denver, and this show of “non-strength” and “non-unity” then causes more defections and then Hillary wins the nomination on the 2nd ballot in Denver. Whether Obama gets nominated VP will depend on HOW BAD his fall from grace is – if it is as bad as I imagine (Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, Rezko – basically – Hannity’s first 12 minutes on his radio show yesterday), then he will be cast aside, and Hillary will be free to put someone like Gov. Strickland or former Gov. Vilsack on the ticket.

And none of this will be “overly” outrageous to most Democrats because by the TIME that the convention happens, everyone (except the absolutely crazed Obama supporters) will have come to the conclusion that Obama CAN’T win and that they NEED Hillary to save the Party from a GOP win.

We just have to have faith and believe something that Bill said a long time ago:

“The harder I work, the luckier I get!”

Hillary will be “lucky” – she is just going to have to wait for her luck and we are going to have to work hard to fight to make that “luck” happen.

    • http://deleted AnninCa

I’m taking names. I think some of these people should be in our leaders in the Democratic Party.

I have made one decision, and that is to pay attention and support candidates who make sense and are fair-minded.

Update on the top of this thread:

Louisiana Automatic Delegate Endorses Hillary: Louisiana automatic delegate Buddy Leach announced his support for Hillary Clinton today. Leach is a former Congressman and 2003 gubernatorial candidate from Vernon Parish in western Louisiana.

      Yaay! Go, Hill!

Did you not LOVE that question “If we had the candidates campaign in Florida, don’t you think it would have been THREE million votes?”
Translation: Let’s give Barky 1.5 million votes just because he’s Barky.

Ohhhhhhhhhh here comes Donna “I will pick the nominee all by myself” Brazile.

Nobody made those voters stay home!!!! They CHOSE to stay home!

  • chuck

This is a very simple proposition. We can either seat the delegates representing the voters of Michigan and Florida, or, with a single stroke, we can disenfranchise more valid Democratic voters than were ever caged by any Republican voting fraud scheme.

  • http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com TexasDarlin

    what is brazile talking about?

oh, she wants to “enfranchise” people who didn’t show up to vote..huh?

    I don’t follow…

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

The really sad thing is, we are talking about a “breach” of 7 days. The Republicans in Florida are laughing at us. This is disgusting. You mean to tell me Dean is willing to disenfranchise all of those voters for SEVEN DAYS?! Further, they have televisions in Florida as well. Those voters knew who Obama was. That argument is disgusting too.

Just thought I’d share my e-mail:

    Dear Hon. Joyer:
Thank you for standing up for Florida’s voters and thank you for your passionate defense! You were wonderful! I just wanted to note that Ms. Brazile’s comment made no sense about counting voters who did not turn out. If we follow that logic and we count those who “didn’t vote” in Florida, then I guess we should count all those who didn’t vote in the CAUCUS STATES who are HRC supporters!! It is clear from the returns in Texas and Idaho that the primary voters in those states have very different presidential preferences in those who voted in their caucuses.

I hope you’ll have an opportunity to make that argument at some point today.
Again, thank you for everything you’re doing.

    My best wishes,
    ….

    • Alex01

      Excellent! Thanks, Michelle. :-)

  • http://ascrivenerslament.blogspot.com/ Delilah

Here’s where the Obama argument falls flat: You don’t reward “non voters” by cutting FL’s delegate representation in half. If you want non-voters’ voices heard, you argue for more than half of the delegates to be seated.

    Duh.

  • http://deleted AnninCa

Oh wow………..someone is challenging the screamer that this really isn’t a concession.

Kerry drew only 750,000? (Doesn’t surprise me. He’s a yawner.)

But Wexler is rather shooting himself in the foot with his “nobody knew Obama.” LOL*

Oh…….and now he’s back to the nutty delegate count.

  • Donkey Brazziere

    What an Ass.

  • Andy

12:01 PM EST Alice Germond, uncommitted, asks about the votes and those who did not vote during the “event” in FL. She is now concerned that the notion that there is a nonbinding vote may have affected turnout. She is now citing the property tax as the cause for turnout.

That is a complete contradiction !! On the one hand she saying not “enough people” didn’t go to vote but on the other that they did b/c property tax???

This “no-voter” ghost argument by the Obama campaign is absurd. I mean it literally absurd.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity Woman

Ok so basically Mr. Wexler, what happened in 2000 with Kerry no longer counts because the same rule doesn’t benefit your candidate right????

  • candymarl

They want to count the votes of people that didn’t vote? So who gets those votes? Giving any candidate votes they didn’t get is a truly undemocratic argument I don’t care what party they belong to.
Oh boy, I can see the ads now. We are so screwed no matter who gets the nomination.

    • beebop

Wexler and Donna have “lifestyle” similarities … not that there is anything wrong with that … with me?

  • http://deleted AnninCa

Ah…….it’s just all show-time stuff. He made his point.

  • It’s Not Me

    GO, ALICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Donkey Brazziere

    Wexler is channeling Khrushchev ….SCARY

  • http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com TexasDarlin

Alice Huffman: We are NOT the Republican Party, and we don’t have to follow them!

“Forgive me for not having a crystal ball.”

    It’s not about YOU Wexler.

    Oh no he’s shouting again!

    Not about you buddy.

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

So then, why all of a sudden now are you willing to disenfranchise these voters?!

  • http://deleted AnninCa

Alice so got us back out of the “rulz” thinking of Obama-guy.

    Thank you, Alice.

We’re back to being focused on voters, not on Obama.

  • http://paganpower.wordpress.com/ PaganPower

Alice Huffman: We are not the Republican Party and we don’t have to follow the Republican Party.

    • http://deleted AnninCa

This is pretty fun, huh? I am growing a bit of respect here for some of the committee members who aren’t pussyfooting around.

My opinion? Wexler is a weirdo who screams too much. He’s like Chris Matthews. I just don’t like all this screaming.

I may have to vote against Obama over this issue alone. I don’t want a government of screamers.

      Seriously.

      Style matters. To me.

It hurts my hears and my sensibilities.

  • Mr X

    This guy is a madman.

    • Al

But he’s all about butterflies, puppies and UUUUUNITY! I mean, aren’t you ready to uuuuuunify now after listening to HIM?

  • It’s Not Me

Oh please STOP! The Obama campaign believes in the process? Only if he can cheat it! What a crock of shit…Wexler.

    • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Remember when COlbet lampooned him? HE FELL FOR IT TOTALLY.

“MAJOR CONCESSION” by wexler? MSNBC is reporting….

      • http://www.hillaryclinton.com **== President & Commander-in-Chief Hillary Clinton **==

MSNBC is “reporting” you mean. ;)

  • Alex01

Oh, that was great. They just cut Katz off in his “uniting” bullshit.

  • http://ascrivenerslament.blogspot.com/ Delilah

And there it is: Wexler & Obama want the “process” honored.

“Translation: Too bad, Florida voters. You lose.”

  • hillarysmygirl

You go, Alice Huffman, answer her question, you blustering buffoon! Okay, Wexler, if you’re such a champion for Floridian’s rights, count the votes 100%.

  • verminme

Ickes backed down from the fair refection argument because he’s a weany. I mean this in the nicest possible way because he’s our weanie but he shouldn’t fall into the Al Gore gentlemen’s club syndrom when facing a loud mouth bully. We knew this wasn’t a gentlemen’s club when they let Wexler and Obama in. Hillarys people have to get in there and fight.

  • texas jina

I missed the definition of the Ausman petition. What’s it?

  • http://deleted AnninCa

OK…….now down to the real meat. MI.

There is no agreement on this state.

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Wow, they are going to go ahead and here Michigan now! Good. That way I won’t miss much.

  • Alex01

Chairwoman with glasses: We agreed to the rigging of the MI primary, so stealing those votes is fine.

  • fly

I have news for Wexler..he has unified me alright..he has unified me to put every dime i used to give the the National DNC into any candidate that runs against him! He is done for me..over and out..i will put all my efforts in seeing him removed from his office!

His fucking idea of unity is stealing my vote and that is unacceptable to me..i did not 1/2 work as a pollwatcher on Jan 29th..i did not cast a 1/2 vote..and for him to sit there and say that is all my vote is worth is unspeakable and dispicable to me.

He does not represent me or my vote or my voting rights ..my birth rights!

fuck him and the horse he rode in on!

I am now so unified to seeing him removed from my congress!

Good job congressman..you unified me like you have no idea!!..I am now so damn unified i will have a damn party when your ass is removed from congress and my state !

Fly..a 2004 elected Democratic Delegate for the State of Florida!

  • NY still loves Hillary

IMHO Barky just lost the GE regardless of how this turns out. What an ass this guy Wexler is. He lost his seat, too.

So gracious of him to piss off Ohio and PA as well as FL and MI (not to mention the rest of the rational world). You can have the “New” Democratic Party; I’ll stick with America.

    • Al

Let’s make sure lunatic Wexler loses his seat. He sounds more like a Gooper with his tone.

  • http://www.hillaryclinton.com **== President & Commander-in-Chief Hillary Clinton **==

WEXLER DID NOT ANSWER FLOURNOY’S QUESTION. HE WILL NOT SAY WHETHER OR NOT HE SUPPORTS FULL RESTORATION.

Wexler was combative and hurt Obama by being so.

    • Michelle

Absolutely. He was rude and all-about-him (like his candidate) – and that just will not “sit well.” Still, I go back to what I said very early on – this will all have to get worse before it gets better.

  • Dawnelle

    OHHHHHHHh SNAP

she admitted it was NOT the DNC requirement to take your name OFF the rolls and she also managed to tell the whole truth of who all KEPT THEIR NAMES ON THE BALLOT

    CLINTON
    DODD
    KUCINICH
    GRAVEL

    HALF of the candidates running

I always hear the gdm msm saying ONLY Hillary kept her name on

liars, liars, liars!! ALL of them!!

    • It’s Not Me

Man, there’s not a better time to THAT little FACT to be exposed…while every network is covering this! Ha!

  • Alex01

Mark Brewer: I wonder if he’s really uncommitted, or not.

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

The storm clouds passed over and I hear birds chirping outside now…as SOON as Wexler finished!!! Coincidence? ;)

    • Dawnelle

I just saw Conyers – he looked mean

I don’t ever remember him being that way. I used to really respect and admire him but now I can barely look at him

      • Andy

Is Conyers a member of the RBC ?

    • Alex01

      I think not!

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity Woman

Now how hysterical is this. Michigan 69 for Clinton, 59 for Obama and he took his name off the ballot! WTF!!!

    • josgirl

      Obama gets nothing, imo.

  • Andy

Thank you Truthteller!! That was wonderful reporting!!!

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Brewer makes some very valid poitns…so far.

  • HARP

I don`t care if they seated them 100 %, I will never vote for Obama.

  • Alex01

There is no “rationale” for 59 and 69.

  • Pingback: THREAD #2 / Live Blogging Committee Hearing [Update with notes of Truthteller] » : NO QUARTER

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Wait a minute? is he saying 69 for Hillary and Obama should be handed 59 delegates?

  • Michelle

Look the ONLY good part about whatever they decide today is this:

HOWEVER the delegates are seated, once they are – THEN the POPULAR vote from FL and MI will have to count. AND then after tomorrow (Puerto Rico), HRC will have won the popular vote in EVERY way you can measure it (because she is sure to overtake him).

Hence, she’ll have more ammo. to keep going to the convention.

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity Woman

Ah Hey Mr. Wexler, now you are learning what “fair reflection” means, yes???

  • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

WE ARE CLOSING COMMENTS IN THIS THREAD.

GO TO THE TOP THREAD – at the top of the page!

    THANKS!

  • Catharine

Wexler is a big Obamabot for sure. Here is a letter to a local Fla paper after Obama visited a Jewish Temple:

“”These are Wexler surrogates you are interviewing. Most members of the Temple did not attend. Only 100, 600 were outsiders brought by the campaign. The Rabbi was inundated with complaints. He even had to send a letter explaining his actions to the membership. It is all a facade by the Wexler people to try and deliver the Jewish vote to Obams. It;’s a “Shanda” disgraceful.”"

Wexler is paid for By Barak Obama and does not represent the people who voted him into office.

  • http://www.sugarnspice.typepad.com Sugar

Aw damn! I’m trying to go back and forth from my sofa to my computer and I didn’t get that poitn of this plan! Obama should get NOTHING!!!

  • http://hyper-educated-uppity-woman.blogspot.com Uppity Woman

I KNEW Iches didn’t answer Wexler for a reason. All his peanut gallery laughed but they won’t be laughing now.

  • Alex01

That MF (Brewer) is NOT uncommitted.

  • http://deleted AnninCa

This compromise is absolutely undemocratic. It should be challenged.

I’ve never heard of any proposition so stupid in my life.

    You vote uncommitted?

Your delegate goes to the convention uncommitted.

    Simple.

Then, you want to vote for Obama once there, go ahead.
