I’m A Bit Tardy

Today, but I have a good excuse. Let me set the stage just a bit. This is about Jordan, the horse. Now, Jordan is a pretty laid back horse, easy-going, generally a very calm gelding. He has his favorites at the stable, all of the small ones, actually – the mini horses, and the pony. As a reminder, here’s my handsome boy a couple of weeks ago:

There is one small mare who had been there for months, left for a while, and came back about a month ago. Since then, he has become obsessed with her. I am not kidding, and I am not anthropomorphizing here. He really is obsessed with her. She has a bit of a problem sweating, which is a BIG problem down here in the LowCountry, so she doesn’t go out until later in the evening. Well, Jordan, once he finishes his hay and grain – he DOES have his priorities, after all, starts pacing the fence line, calling to her, and getting all worked up. It got so bad that the woman who cares for him was giving him his hay in front of the little mare’s stall door to try and get him to chill out.

And then she went and did it. She said, “I hope he doesn’t colic because he is getting so worked up. The other day, he completely white lathered…” So, guess what happened Sunday afternoon? You got it. Sigh. Now, some of you may remember that he did this back in February. Only this time, he got really dehydrated, and had to go to the Equine Clinic. Double sigh. So, he went on fluids last night, and is coming off of them tonight(the fluid bags for horses are 5 liters – they are HUGE). Oh, and this is all complicated by the fact that he has ulcers, too, so the usual regimen for horses who have colic don’t work for him. Whee!! So he also gets some liquid gold. Well, not really, it just COSTS as much as gold. It’s ulcer medication that he has to drink. And he has to be able to graze for just a little bit every few hours so he has something in his stomach, as opposed to regular colics who start off with a hay “tea” then work up to getting some mash, then hay soaked in water, and on and on. I’m sure you get the idea.

And get this – when Jordan gets to the Clinic, they put him in a stall next to a little mare that looks JUST like the one back at the stables. ARGH!!!! He was calling, and calling for the longest time. She didn’t help any when she called back, but eventually, all of that settled down. She left today, thank heavens, so THAT problem is solved. But still – what are the chances??? Apparently, 1-for-1.

The good news is that Jordan should be able to go back home on Wednesday. His gums have finally pinked up and are no longer tacky (he was really dehydrated), and his bloodwork looks good. The little mare is going to be moving on to her next home, hopefully before Jordan gets home so he can get over his teenage crush (even though he’s in his mid-20′s).

The other good news is that since I have been so focused on Jordan, I have barely noticed Obama pushing his unpopular health plan, so in that regard, it’s a plus! Ahem.

Oh, and Happy Fortieth Anniversary to Neil Armstrong for his walk on the moon!

I’m glad Jordan is getting better. I didn’t know all that about horses. But speaking of lathers reminds me of NBC’s obsequiousness to Obama. Well they are improving too. They balked at his proposed press conference Weds night during prime time, esp since there is a much hearalded interview with Susan Boyle. Druge Report has the heart warming headline: Susan Boyle bumps Obama. Some sign of improvement if only we can keep the anchors from pawing and bowing at his stall.

Love and infatuation are irrational things. Either, from the MSM and all who supported him during the election, is what Obama thrived on. When it fades and goes out, it is almost impossible to rekindle. I suspect that he senses the fade-out and is frantically trying to sustain, or at the very least, delay. This explains his frantic/frenetic campaign outings.

It is a sad thing to watch. It happens to many celebrities who believe their own promo campaigns; they start believing that they are what the ads say, so do all the fans. He even believed that the support of big boys like Soros, Buffet, Google, Goldman-Sachs, JP Morgan, AIG, Carlyle Investment, et al, was because he was “The One.”

He has done what he was supposed to do–NOT STAND IN THE WAY of the financial big boy’s ability to siphon off taxpayers’ money for a long time. What he accomplishes from here on, is all up to him and the people. I suspect that it is truly downhill for him. He would have ended up spending so much people’s money and nothing to show for it except DEBT for everyone.

      Helen, nice segue…lathering! ROFL

RRRA, why oh why does love make everything so complicated?

PS–I hope he makes a full recovery!

Look up in Merck Veterinary Manual the dosage of omeprazole for horses and dose him yourself, it’s generic OTC now. Jordan is just sort of a touchy-feely artistic horse, maybe he needs to hoof-paint as an outlet to express his passions?

      ROTFLMAO abt him hoof-painting!

He does get a regular drug for his ulcer. It’s called, I kid you not, G.U.T.

And thanks everyone – Jordan is back in his own stall tonight. He will be able to “hand graze” for abt 10 minutes every four hours or so, get some beet mash, and some alfalfa tea. Yummy, right? :-) Anyway, he seems to be on the mend, and wasn’t even crazy abt his girlfriend. Whew – what a relief!

Along those lines, they think that what happened was his working himself into a lather, like the MSM did with Obama (nice, Helen!), knocked his electrolytes out of whack, which knocked his hormones out of whack. Now everything is getting back on course.

Still, we’ll be meeting with our equine vet tomorrow to talk the best strategy for him.

Never a dull moment. Love how y’all can connect this to Obama – too good!

I’m tickled that Jordan has a girlfriend.

Still can’t believe that he’s 23 years old. He looks SO good — thanks, no doubt, to the great care you give him, Amy.

Obama by the way, has promised to screw us all no matter what with regards to his healthcare TAKEOVER (since it has nothing to do with improving healthcare — we only need insurance reform not healthcare reform cuz that’s gilding the lily,,,anyway)
Dick Morris says Obama’s plan to insure illegals give them amnesty/vote and then voila, his dictatorship, are foremost on his pathetic evil brain…
So if he does not get the vote now he will use reconciliation later.

This nightmare MUST be stopped! He would control over 50% of the economy. We will never see capitalism ever again.

  • I’m a Linda too

oh my, well now we know why he has ulcers, huh? :)

And he eats an all vegan feed? WOW! :) I hope things do get better around there.

Budget chief: Docs fees not paid for in Obama bill

WASHINGTON (AP) – A senior administration official says billions of dollars to raise fees for doctors treating Medicare patients are not covered by President Barack Obama’s pledge to pay for health care legislation.

Budget Director Peter Orszag said Tuesday that’s because the administration always assumed the money would be spent to prevent a cut of more than 20 percent in doctor fees.

The Congressional Budget Office said last Friday the higher payments cost $245 billion over 10 years. It said including the money in the overall bill would result in deficits totaling $239 billion.

Poor Jordon. He falls in love and it ruins his health. Some how you think it would be less complicated in the animal world. Enjoyed the post RRRAmy!

I’m glad Jordan’s doing a little better, and the other horse is moving on. Horses do frequently develop intense psychological attachments to other horses and become seriously agitated if they’re separated from them.

Poor Jordan! I’m so glad you were able to get him through it alright, RRRAMy.

Omigosh! Poor Jordan! There’s the definition of lovesick for you. My brother had a wonderful horse when we were growing up, and we live in an area where there are lots of ranches, but I guess I really don’t know that much about horses. I hope he’s fully recovered very soon, poor thing. Never a dull moment for you, Rev Amy.

      Thanks, everyone.

And Socalannie, ya got that right! :-)

As of this morning (Weds.), Jordan is doing better. He apparently was kicking up his heels – literally. He is no longer obsessed with the little mare, thank heavens. Hopefully, getting his electrolytes back in balance has done the trick!
