I found something else that might be of interest.

This was not a point made by the author but I spotted two events that were too similar that were necessary for Obama to get the party nomination and to eventually win the general election.

The readers of this paper are likely to know that the story took a dramatic shift shortly after the primaries were over on March 16. Before the primary there had been persistent rumors about the Jack Ryan divorce case. The court files on Ryan’s divorce from actress Jeri Ryan had been sealed at Jack Ryan’s request. His explanation was that he was concerned about protecting the privacy of the couple’s son. Some of Ryan’s Republican primary opponents alluded to the sealed file and made vague reference to it in debates before the primary, but nothing specific came out. Then shortly after the primary a court in California ordered that the file should be unsealed. The file contained rather damaging allegations by Jeri Ryan against Jack Ryan regarding incidents related to their sex life.

The story became an explosive one and an overnight sensation among the media. Here was another divorce file, and another set of charges by a former wife coming into play in this Senate race. It was very reminiscent of the situation which had effectively derailed Blair Hull’s candidacy before the primary; however, this all came out after the primary. The timing could have hardly been worse for the Republicans

It was The Chicago Tribune that filed the lawsuit in California to unseal those papers. It was State Supreme Court Judge Robert Schnider who went against the wishes of Ryan and his ex-wife (who both claimed it would be harmful to their child) and decided to unseal the records for the “public good.”

The reason given for Ryan’s sudden exit after the GOP primary may be a coincidence or maybe not. For the Democratic nomination Obama was running against a very popular and wealthy Blair Hull. The early polls had Hull leading his next leading rival (either Obama or Dan Hynes) by at least 10 percentage points – a lot in a 10 person race.

But then just before the election, the polls showed a tremendous surge for Obama to put him in the lead well ahead of Blair and Hynes.

What happened?

In February the media revealed that Hull’s divorce from his ex-wife, a Chicago real estate broker, had been messy. The divorce paper revealed that she had obtained two restraining orders against him and that there had been a minor physical altercation (Lawrence and Fornek, Chicago Sun Times, March 5, 2004, 10). Although Hull admitted the marital problems and the essential facts, the story, coupled with the negative media coverage of it, seemed to stop Hull’s campaign cold. He went from leading the horse race polls to a weak third place in a period of about two weeks. No amount of pleading extenuating circumstances, pained explanations, and mea culpas appeared to gain him much sympathy. In the end, Hull finished a very distant third with just under 11% of the vote.
The clear beneficiary of the Hull collapse seemed to be Barack Obama. His poll numbers rose in tandem with Hull’s decline.

This all could be coincidental but the timing of both seems a bit too coincidental for there not to be a malicious intent by Obama and/or certain supporters of his.

First of all, why would Michelle Obama be speaking from the pulpit of Trinity Church to “rail against Whitey”? Only the pastor and guest pastors speak from the pulpit, not regular church goers.

This is in direct response to Vince P.’s post–don’t you find it strange, ironic or maybe even hopeful that Republicans and dissenting Democrats alike are aghast at the possibility of an Obama win in November? As a dedicated, moderate Democrat, I will absolutely vote for McCain if my only choice is McCain.

Why?

At the very least, I know McCain is a patriot, and I sense he’s an honorable man though his views on a variety of issues do not match my own. I’m not willing to simply vote “the party line” because the DNC seems hell-bent to support a candidate who is unsuitable, inexperienced and proven that he is willing to do whatever, say whatever, denounce whatever to gain the keys to the White House. Throw your preacher, your grandmother and [maybe] even your wife under the bus if it gains you an advantage. And, of course, destroy the opposition so there is no opposition.

Not a stretch…

If this tape exists, whoever has it owes it to the American people to air it now. It is important, however, that we do not descend to the level of the Obama campaign as it behaved during most of this race this year or the biased news media. The Arab community is heavily concentrated in the near SouthWest burbs directly bordering the City. The claim is being made that it was not “whitey” she said but “why’d he…” in relation to GWB, repeatedly asking why he did certain things. I find this much more likely myself. The two things may not be distinguishable on a tape if taken in isolation, but I imagine they would be in the context of the whole speech.

If they show us an edited portion of a speech that distorts what she actually said, then this will backfire, and deservedly. This would be a truly disgusting thing to do. And I say this as someone who really dislikes the Obamas.

The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th – July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women’s Event.

Michelle Obama appeared as a panelist alongside Mrs. Khadijah Farrakhan and Mrs. James Meeks.

Bill Clinton spoke during the Conference, as did Bill Cosby and other speakers, but not at the panel Michelle attended.

Michelle Obama spoke at the Women’s Event, but referenced Bill Clinton in her rant — his presence at the conference was the impetus for her raving, it seems.

For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on “whitey”, and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that’s when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who’s seen this.

If the GOP has it, they will wait until at least Sept.

I believe that the Michelle Obama tape exists and that both unidentified liberals and conservatives have seen and heard that tape. Conservatives will use it in September or October and the liberals are hoping that it will not diminish Obama’s poll numbers and that the conservatives are just sabre waving.
I believe that the tape exists because Michelle has been placed in time and location at the event that the ranting and raving has occured. Photos and schedule of speakers prove this point. The content of her college thesis adds to the belief that she could have said these remarks. The remarks occured prior to her husbands rise in the political arena. The remarks occured in a location that would have been most conducive to her ranting and raving. The lack of an adamant denial by her husband that these remarks had been said by her. The immediate appearance of a website by Barack Obama campaign to stop the smear of Michelle Obama. Evidently, a paltry attempt to diminish the effect of the eventual release of the tape. The limited exposure of Michelle in the media since the release of the tape rumor as opposed to her very apparent media exposure prior to the rumor. Why ?
The polls show Obama slightly ahead and it appears that some Republican analysts are not very concerned. Maybe they are fully aware of the “October suprise”.
Odds favor the existence of the tape. Time will tell all
