Teachable Moment My Ass!! (Repost)

[Due to comment overload on the original post, Larry Johnson's entire piece is re-posted below.]

The audacity of ignorance and hubris on display by Barack Obama is jaw dropping. His lame attempt Friday afternoon to quell the controversy sparked by his Wednesday night bloviation at the White House press conference, where he declared that the Cambridge police “acted stupidly,” flopped. Pay close attention to what this clown of a politician said:

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

Read again his words:

“I want to make clear that in my choice of words I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sergeant Crowley specifically — and I could have calibrated those words differently,” Obama said. “And I told this to Sergeant Crowley.”

Gave an impression? Is he crazy?

You did not “give an impression” you fool. You did malign Sergeant Crowley. You just assumed that because he was a white cop he was in the wrong. Without getting any facts and without any caveat you said the Crowley acted stupidly. As Forest Gump said, “stupid is as stupid does” and you, Mr. Obama, have taken stupidity to a new level.

Barack Obama could have put the matter to rest by admitting that he had overreacted by assuming that the confrontation between Harvard professor Gates and Cambridge police officer Jim Crowley was race based. But as we now know the only person who injected race in that incident was the Professor Gates. Gates could have defused the entire incident if he had simply provided his ID to Sergeant Crowley and expressed appreciation for the police checking out the report that his home was being burglarized. But Gates did not do that. He accused Sergeant Crowley of being a racist and of targeting a black man. Crowely handled the incident professionally and appropriately and his account was backed up by a black police officer who witnessed the incident.

So what the hell is the teachable moment? Gates should keep his damn mouth shut and cooperate with the police? Obama should keep his lips zipped until he has a chance to get the full facts? What I have learned is that Barack Obama is a race baiter. Instead of trying to bridge differences between blacks and whites Obama declares without any proof that a white officer is guilty and a black professor innocent. Obama, you have nothing to teach us. Look in the damn mirror and go teach yourself.

In the future keep your yap muzzled until you actually know what in the hell is going on.

  • olivia1998

Lynn Sweet was a set-up. Obama’s polls were slipping with the black so let’s play the race card. Now he can play heeler and teacher not to mention they aren’t taking about the bad press conference and health care bill that will kill people.

    • felizarte

I agree! Race-baiting was always a favorite and effective topic changer. That is why I think we should talk about his failing healthcare more. This is off-topic, but I notice that Michelle Obama hasn’t been in the news or fashion scene lately.

      • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

Was it the god awful wig or is that really her? new do?

Anyway, no one seemed much interested in MicHELLe this past week.

Gates was a distraction. The real issue is that whistling sound we all hear from Obama’s approval ratings in a free fall.

I get the feeling that America is just too big for Obama’s myopic socialism plans and that this is his Waterloo as far as socializing the American government.

Let’s keep the heat on the WA DC idiots.

      • FranSC

Oh, well, get ready for more saturation of BOTH Michelle and 0. They have gone on vacation to Martha’s Vineyard. I even heard on the news that Professor Gates was already visiting them there.

Larry, the “I gave the *impression*…” sentence stood out like a sore thumb to me as well. I don’t even think anymore that the AA demographic is one he needs to satisfy from time to time. I think he is a very angry black man (who is bi-racial, but thinks of himself as black)who plans to even the score and then some. Otherwise, he would not have been attracted to M0 who is just as angry regardless of their success and good fortune.

I’m sure I’m not the only one noticing the fighting spirit of AA’s even the sophisticated AA’s who are stooping to new lows because they think they now have the cover and protection of the first AA POTUS.

        • Tuppence411

Speaking of Martha’s Vineyard- I wonder what “teachable moments” Barky will chose to impart to his daughters and us about the history of race relations on the Island?
Will it be 1.) Hard work binds us all. Whites, Blacks and Native Americans living and working side by side eeking out a living and building communities in the harsh environment of the Island in the 17th and 18th century. or 2.) The 19th century lesson that the human desire for spirituality and religious expression is colorblind as blacks and whites both came to the Island for religious revivals and camps highlighted by Illumination Night. or 3.) Rich black folks are “tolerated” here.

          I bet #3

        • FranSC

I need to clarify my above statement about the upcoming Obama vacation to Martha’s Vineyard. I mistakenly thought the vacation to MV was about to begin this weekend when Fox & Friends reported on Fri, “What a time to be going on vacation.”

Instead, it is apparently the advance teams of the WH and news media in full operation mode, and Martha’s Vineyard bracing for this onslought. Sorry for the misinformation.

    • TexasMirth

I’m beginning to agree with some here that Lynn Sweet’s question was a set-up, but I don’t think this was the hoped-for result. I like to think what Obama thought would be a good closer to his press conference has backfired. According to Rasmussen:
The number who Strongly Disapprove of the President has increased slightly following the prime time press conference on Wednesday night. That figure—39%–is now at the highest level yet recorded. As a result, the overall Approval Index has fallen to the lowest level yet recorded for this President.

      • makeji

According to Ann Coulter on Geraldo Live last night, Lynn Sweet used to work for David Axelrod. In addition, she said that the charges against Skip were dismissed because his lawyer called the Mayor of Cambridge who ordered that the charges be dismissed. Probably supported by the Governor of Massachusetts – another friend of Obama’s lest we forget.

  • HARP

I`m surprised he can even stand up with that chip on his shoulder. Yes, Daddy left you. Grow up!!

    • jackie

Lol. He is a very angry, bitter person. Isn’t he?

      • mary

        Jackie

Thanks! Obuma is an ANGRY black President (dangerous) and that’s why he was nominated/elected. The Puppet’s Keepers spent half a bilion ($450,000,000) to get him in power. They didn’t think his Angry black man’s inner world would come out and haunt them.

DOMESTIC ABUSE – 1/3 of its victims are WOMEN WHOSE HUSBANDS RETURN TO THEIR OWN HOME–With or without keys–and murder them.
The police are doing their job–black or white cops.
POLICE HAVE TO INVESTIGATE and asking questions is not enough. The suspect can show ID and prove his is a RESIDENT–but is he there lawfully?

Obummer should have kept his MOUTH SHUT! A president of substance and not LACKING PRESIDENTIAL JUDGMENT should not use the Bully Pulpit. It’s like a boy picking the wings off a fly cause he is angry and awkward.

Obama should apologize for ever becoming President!

      Great video Teak!

I don’t understand why Obama and his minions want this country weak.
The strongest survive the weak and self righteous perish.

Being the strongest is a lot more fun too!

      Just ask the King!

Pm317 mentioned Hyenas and all afternoon long I was stuck with an image of “Disney for brains Obama” and his pack of Hyenas.

        • Seattle Moss

The Hyena’s definitely look like the cheeto eating basement dwelling trolls we have to put up with here.
The Hyena drones have that caught in the head light look as they are being rounded up and drafted by the Next President who must at that time face the consequences of Obama and his retreat and defeat policies which lead to world war and civil unrest here at home.

            Folks,

I hope all of you have had an opportunity to read Liberty and Tyranny.

Sarah at her leaving party today had a copy of Mark Levin’s book by her side.

            This is the movement ahead

            Mark Levin is the constitution

            Sarah Palin leads the charge

I’ve got my copy and will be reading it this week.

You are so right. But Hitler underestimated the Americas, and Americans will live free or die, but we will not except slavery or bow down to any man.

Who among us can forget the nausea at seeing 0 bow to that king?

              Good post Larry.

The rest of us are soldiers in this most important struggle of our lifetimes.

This is for our posterity. We are already screwed, what we have lost in the past two years will take most of the rest of our lives to recover. But, can we leave something better for our kids than what we have? Or, are we going to let our kids be slaves to the system that screwed us? Bring on the second revolution.

    • pm317

Gee, thank you, Teak! How appropriate..

  • Texas Playwright

    I am still stunned–and horrified–that millions of
americans either wouldn’t or couldn’t hear/see what a puppet bho the fraud was/is for the coporate/banking/media cabal. Passing a $787 Billion “stimulus” bill w/o reading it? Pushing anaother taxpayer-looting bill and calling it “healthcare” BEFORE we put people back to work and stabilize our economy? A good chunk of We the People have lost their common sense.

bho the fraud is still bho the fraud. Catch up, America!

    • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

-9 on Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll with 49% somewhat approving and 51% somewhat disapproving

54.5 approval rating on RCP averages. Down impressively in the last ten days with no detectable bounces for his Healthcare speech or his “comment” of “apology” on the Gates incident.

Could it be that America is waking up?

      • Patrick Henry

Obama just woke up a hugh Voting Block of Law enforcement Officers across this nation…along with Their Fellow First responders who are a pretty Tight Group..Overall..

It was not Smart of Obama to let his predjudtice and bias get the better of Him..but they have obviously been there beneath the surface of both he, and Professor Gates…no matter how “Refined’ they pretend to be..

No Matter what president Obama or Professor Gates do or say from here on out , the damage has been done..

And I hope the american people Never forget this “LEARNABLE MOMENT”..

        • felizarte

I wonder if one of the lessons learned from this Gate-gate for all those who thought O was the “post-racial” candidate is that, “if you are not black, you can never really belong to his “group”; that if you are non-black and working in his team, you are only there because he can use you.

        • mountainaires

John Ridley shoots off his mouth again at Huff-Poop: Put up or shut up. He says it’s up to Sgt Crowley to PROVE he wasn’t acting “stupidly.”

Okay….We may well do that, Ridley. Because those TAPES ARE OUT THERE. And, according to someone who has listened to them, GATES WILL BE ASHAMED if the public ever hears them!

Care to predict? I bet National Enquirer gets those tapes and runs the transcript first.

          http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-ridley/gates-says-what-a-lot-of_b_244571.html#comments

          Ridley sneers:

“…how refreshing was it during his presser to hear the president say that the arresting officer in the Gates case acted “stupidly?” Now that that’s officially out there, it’s not for Gates to prove he was in the right. Let Sgt. James Crowley prove in this instance he wasn’t stupid for placing a 58-year-old professor in cuffs in the middle of the day.”

But, be careful what you wish for Ridley; it just might happen, because….

          Commenter Tombass replies:

We just listened to the full audio recording of the incident from the cruisers dash cam.

Gates should be apologizing to the nation for his ranting and ravings towards this officer, it’s really disgusting! You feel really sorry that officer had to put up with this tirade when he was just doing his job.

We got the recording just in time because Cambridge Mayor E. Denise Simmons is trying to keep it suppressed from the media.

Looking for buyers right now so look for the news release very soon!

It’s too bad Obama made a statement without knowing the facts because this will unfortunately put a lot of egg on his face.

          • Julia

“Obama made a statement without knowing the facts because this will unfortunately put a lot of egg on his face.”

Mmmh This is ‘good judgement’ without any kind of doubt! :)

    • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

Seriously. A well put together stimulus package COULD HAVE put our unemployment rate at 8%, and the half-ass one he passed was supposedly going to do just that, but instead it the unemployement rate 9.5%. That is a difference of 1.7 million jobs. Obama f’ked us. Both Krugman and Bill CLinton told him to make it bigger and make it difference but i guess he was too good to listen to them and now we’re suffering for it while the banks do just fine.

    • tek

Texas Playwright: Why stunned? Did you not see how millions of Americans were totally brainwashed into believing Dubya was sitting at the right hand of God? Americans are stupid, period. The feds have planned it that way.

      • trixta

tek, sometimes it seems that way, but I would say it is the press who has failed this country. The press went from solid investigative reporting with Watergate, to a bogus witch hunt of Bill Clinton, then to out right propaganda with GWB and BO (both being two sides of the same corporatist coin). I think the people of this country usually get it right — eventually, anyway!!

  • TexasMirth

You did not “give an impression” you fool. You did malign Sergeant Crowley. You just assumed that because he was a white cop he was in the wrong. Without getting any facts and without any caveat you said the Crowley acted stupidly.

Precisely. Obama STATED PLAINLY his putdown of the Cambridge police. It wasn’t an impression; it was a statement.

  • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

There could be a few teachable moments.

    1. Obama could learn to a. shut his useless mouth. b. He could learn to find better friends.

Secondly, i’m not sure if cops could learn to stop being such bullies, but for sure black people need to knock that chip of their fucking shoulders. I am soooooooooo sick of.

What was the professor doing to help lower income blacks so that we can have less socio-economic inequality in the U.S.?

Anyone know? Anyone? No, because he’d rather bitch and whine than do anything about it than change anything. rather play the victim than do anything about it. And I’m black, but i am so tired of the chip on their shoulder type. Seriously.

    • tango

What was the professor doing to help lower income blacks so that we can have less socio-economic inequality in the U.S.?

Teaching at Harvard of course. You know that university that all the poor low income blacks are forced to attend?

      • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

And of course, Havahd would never think of participating in any sort of Affirmative Action incentives, either.

Oh wait, it’s a law. LOL!

      • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

Lol. exactly. I want to see his tax records and see how much money he’s given to charities to send kids to schools and have better experiences. Wonder if it will be as much as Obama gave before he ran for president… $0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, how could i forget, right before he ran for president he gave money to the “oholy chip on their shoulder church”. $100,000.

        • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

Sorry, i have to correct that. Before he started running for president he gave 1% of his income to charity, not 0%. and after he knew he would run he gave “chip on the shoulder” church $27,000 not $100,000

          • FranSC

His tax returns show that the 0bama’s gave very little to charity. In addition to the all-black church they belonged to for 20 years, they contributed to The United Negro College Fund. Like Oprah, with many white American women that make up her audience and have made her who she is, she only supports AA causes.

I don’t understand why it is a surprise that 0 would mistakenly unmask his knee-jerk, highly racial, leanings when the Gates case came up. Obama said during the campaign that he did not believe in reparation. It is coming to light that he believes there should be a lot more than reparation. We are beginning to see evidence of that.

I believe in equality, not trying to make up for 200 years of discrimination by the majority switching places with AA’s. I honestly believe the white Obama kool-aid drinkers would be ok with that and feel it would be justice.

    • Ellen D

Hi annienyc. Do you think this would have happened if Gates had been a female black professor? Ignoring Michelle, do you think that black women who are working their way up have as much of a chip on their shoulder?

      • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

Black women tend to have a different type of chip on their shoulder. I used to be a waitress and let me tell you, serving a table of black women only was often …just wow, you can’t even believe it. And yes, many many many many many, no matter what position in life have a major chip on their shoulder. Donna brazille anyone?

        • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

I found black women would be a friend to my face and then disrespect me behind my back. There is nothing nastier than a black woman thinking they’ve got something over you so annienyc I hear ya.

I’ve worked with one black woman who became a professional before Affirmative Action and she was just wonderful. She didn’t let her skin tone stop her from being authentic, warm, professional, and caring. Perhaps it’s because she had come up through the world and gotten her education without a federal law.

          • FranSC

We surely saw what black women did to Hillary at the May 29, 2008 DNC Rules Committee Meeting to decide what to do about Michigan and Florida. Her super delegates teamed up with the Obama super delegates to royally screw Hillary. Obama possessed Donna Brazile and Hillary Super Delegate and Chairman of the Rules Committee, Alexis Herman, lead this major screwing.

        • lorac

          ….. and did they tip?

          • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

            no comment. bwaaaaah.

    • WMCB

I’m glad you brought up the socio-economic angle. This doesn’t pertain to Crowley (who did nothing wrong) but to the whole general profiling thing:

Black people DO have more problems with cops, but a lot of that is not due to racism. Im not saying none is, ever – but not anywhere near all. Poor people in bad neighborhoods in general have more problems with cops. There are a higher percentage of blacks than whites in poverty, ergo there are a higher percentage of problems with cops in the black community.

It’s more a CLASS issue than a race issue in many cases where there is abusive behavior by police. Shirtless rednecks in the meth-laden trailer park, just like a poor black man in an urban neighborhood, don’t get treated the same as a rich man of whatever color in a lot of cases.

So what has Obama done to help lift those communities out of poverty? Where are the JOBS? Where are the thriving BUSINESSES that could revitalize neighborhoods and give black people a shot at getting themselves out of that poverty demographic? Where are the SCHOOLS that teach thinking and SKILLS that are useful for future employment, rather than life lessons on how to be a good little comrade? What did he do for the poor black communities in his Chicago district?

The solution to a lot of this is not just a bunch of “teaching moments about race” from Hahvahd grads from on high, lecturing us all to raise our consciousness.

IT’S THE ECONOMY, STUPID. Give me fewer POOR black people, and I’ll show you a rapid decline in abusive police encounters or profiling. WAKE UP.

Gates was treated better than most people of ANY color in a poor neighborhood would have been. I guarantee that a poor guy on welfare, black OR white, who was yelling on his porch at an officer like that would have been dropped to the ground and handcuffed a lot more roughly than Prof. Precious Gates was.

      • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

Love to give you people from the bad neighborhoods but many of them won’t finish high school . Approximately upwards of 3% of blacks out of 13% in the nation ever attend, let alone graduate from, college. It’s one of the reasons the gangs and hip-hop mentality has such a hold. It’s what many aspire to because of the notion that it’s easy money.

I’ve known of two young black men recently, one from a welfare situation and one where a parent is very active in the community. Both have been arrested for armed robbery. They were both busted in separate incidences with unregistered firearms and with victim statements. The one, who knows if his parent is even in the picture. The other, his mother is probably about as broken hearted as one can get.

After 40 years of Affirmative Action and opportunities, too few better themselves, it seems.

    • Wisewoman

“And I’m black, but i am so tired of the chip on their shoulder type. Seriously.” I’m AA and I say me too. Gates like many blacks who were not on the front lines fighting against discrimination in the 60s as I was along with our white, Jewish, and other friends refuse to acknowledge the racial progress in the country. Instead they have this need to feel they are “part of the struggle” when they are not. There is no teachable moment here because the officer was called to this home on a bulgery suspicion case. There is no racial profiling here no matter what the president or all the race-baiting wh@res say. In fact to try to tie the two together in some kind of “teachble moment” would be a travesty and a lie.

  • tango

I thought Obamas offer of all three of them getting togather at the White House was condescending. He acts like they’re all best buddies and Crowley should be thrilled to sit and share a beer with a man who called him a racist and insulted his mother and another man who said his actions were stupid. I see that Gates has accepted the invitation. I think if Crowley declines then it looks like he’s holding a grudge and if he accepts then he gives Obama just what he wants. I see it as jst a PR stunt where you know after the meeting is over, Obama will be sure to issue a statement subtly praising himself as being the go between helping these “two excellent men come togather in a shared purpose to understand one another” or some other sort of BS. And then Obama feels his hands are clean and noone needs to pay any more attention to the careless comment he made last week.

Obama could care less about Crowley being wronged. But he knows Americans do so he has to do something to look like he’s trying to make up to the man without actually having to apologize nor holding Gates accountable for his bad behavior. So if they can have their Kumbaya, We Are The World moment in the WH, then Obama figures it can all be put behind him.

    • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

Oh please, dude is invited Gates to the White House for a beer for calling a police officer a racist. If that doesn’t just say it all.

      • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

that’s supposed to say “dude invited”.

      • http://deleted BuzzisbackLatte

Henry Gates is a known agitator and participant in civil disobedience. This little trip into craziness wasn’t his first time.

He likes creating a scene for his agenda.

Sgt. Crowley has nothing to apologize for and by him not attending any supposed White House function with both of these known agitators, Obama and Gates, it would send a statement that America no longer recognizes that action as a viable means to promote racial causes.

        • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

Gates probably did it so that he would be arrested. You don’t get activist cred unless you been to jail. So far enough on that. But Obama is a serious f’g ahole for taking it to national television. really awful. what a hack. Even a novice would know to say “i’m hear to talk about healthcare”. He’s got a lot of nerve to be as condescending to the american people to suggest they need to learn a lesson from this. Dear Obama, STFU.

          • http://annienyc.blogspot.com annienyc

damn, that’s supposed to say “fair enough on that”.

          • thinker

I heard someone say that when Gates saw the white officer at his door he really saw opportunity knocking and judging by his recent run of the talk show and cable news circuits, I have no doubt that this is the truth. I guess we just have to sit back now and wait for the book, movie, and TV show.

      • FranSC

And, I think the two of them (0 and Gates) think this can be a ‘teachable’ moment for Officer Crowley, who, BTW, teaches classes on how NOT to do racial profiling. I hope he makes both Obama & Gates look like the educated, racist fools they are.

      • http://syd4.blogspot.com/ SYD

If Crowley accepts the invitation, he had better bring his personal lawyer/ spokeperson. Preferably from Hahvahd. Someone who taught Obama, maybe.

Otherwise it will be like walking into a snake pit… with Obama and Gates waiting to trip him up and make him out as the racist they always knew he was.

The officer is between a rock and a hard place.

        • Julia

Maybe Crowley can send his lawyer to the WH and he stays home! it would be great! :D

    • mountainaires

Yeah, Obama gets to portray himself as the great mediator, the great man bridging the divide on racism.

      OH GAG ME.

  • Chicago Joe
    • tzada

oh my…….. that means that I am related to a racist. Niall of the Nine Hostages is my grandfather too, many times removed.

To be sure Gates is at least 50% white, however…..I think I heard him say that he was 65% white. (This was in his first interview.) I think he said his wife is white. He was at that time trying to defend his racist comments, saying gee I have proof I am not racist.

So Obama is having a kegger at the WH. Maybe they could have a theme party. Since they have a cop, all they need now are an Indian a construction worker and they will be well on their way to the Village People. Quite a refreshing change from the village idiots we have now.

Hey, Obama and his thugs had the AG who exposed Obama’s friend and mayor of Sacramento California fired for not being able to answer things factually and thus labelling the AG as not being qualified for the job anymore, well doesn’t this hold true now for Ostupid?

HOLY SHIT!!!!!! Remember when he insulted challeged people in his lovely comment about the special olympics? Maria Shriver went on tv and said it should be a “teachable moment” (for HIM) and it was she who recommended Obama have a special olympian come to the whitehouse. So basically, this guy doesn’t have an original bone in his entire body.

This is so bad it’s blown past embarrassing into the realm of absurdity. Is this the character of our Leader?

For Obama to broadcast these statements in such an inexperienced and juvenile way on a “nitro meet glycerin” issue like this he’s either clinical, an ignoramus or is in on it. Either way he’s gone in 2012 and severely limited in his destructions by 2010 IMO.

I have never witnessed the melt down of a President as I have witnessed with Obama. I’ve never seen the veneer peel off so quickly. We are witnessing history alright and first hand the audacity of Dope.

Unlike the unpresidential other dope (Undercover Black mole) you make supreme sense. Yes, indeed, the ‘meltdown’ of an unqualified, extremely JUVENILE and thoughtlessly unoriginal “Puppet-President” will soon be coming at a theater near you.

Barry-Hussein should not have missed his Harvard Legal Ethics lectures. Did he not know that he cannot express personal opinion without knowing (as the Dopeprez admitted prior) ALL the facts of the case?
Further, he admitted he was a “good friend” of one of the two parties in the dispute. And as President from the bully pulpit he is in a position of power not shared by the cop.

Annienyc … You asked what kind of president would say “the police acted stupidly”??

The same kind of president who, in the same press conference, accused physicians of wantonly violating the Hippocratic Oath — just to make more money. You know, taking kids’ tonsils out for a few more dollars. I’m sure pediatricians do that, colluding with surgeons to risk kids lives, all for the profit motive, ’cause they CAN, and we surely must help Obama stop them.

    THAT kind of president.

    THAT one.

Who will Dear Leader throw under the bus next in his quest to TEACH US all the workings of our world…

    • FLDemFem

Oh, I so totally agree with you on that!! I was a child who got tonsillitis at the drop of a hat. That I also got strep throat frequently, due to my having had scarlet fever, was the deciding factor in NOT taking my tonsils out, since they were the first line of defense, or one of them, for the immune system. The doctor said that the tonsillitis was how my body defended against the strep and kept it localized. This was in the 60′s. My sister, who got “plain” tonsillitis rather than the kind caused by the body defending against a strep throat, had hers taken out, which stopped her frequent sore throats. The idea that a doctor, who swears to do no harm, would do that to a child is mind-boggling. Just doesn’t happen.

Annie … I’m convinced that Obama (and his people) were behind ALL the smears on Hillary and Bill. They know how to manipulate so well, and play race politics. And, of course, they have essentially destroyed Sarah Palin with frivolous complaints and a media gang rape.

The only thing that keeps me optimistic is the complete faith that Sarah will rise from the ashes to kick his ass! The Storm from the North is coming Obama’s way. And he will have no clue what is about to hit him.

  • ConfusedAmerican

Ok I think if you listen at you will hear this quote that I got from Boston Globe, which can be heard in the video above.
“I continue to believe that there was an overreaction in pulling professor Gates out of his home and to the station,’’ Obama said. “I also continue to believe, based on what I’ve heard, that professor Gates overreacted, as well.’’

Ok I have had a few friends comment on his word usage in this statement too.
“Overreaction in pulling professor gates out of his home.”

Not sure about some of you but the picture I get and a few of my friends got from that statement was not kewl.
Some interpreted it as Obama saying Gates had been dragged from his home.

Did Obama have his teleprompter? If so he needs a new writer.

    • words

When I heard that statement about Gates being pulled from his house I was wondering what I missed. Was there some new development, was the president talking about something we didnt know.
what came to my mind was some lynch crowd pulling some guy from a house. After looking for current news I realized that the president did not mean literal pulling. It did take me a while to get the picture of some guy being physically yanked out their home out of my head.

  • Adopted

Is it just me or is Obama using “reassuring” phrases over and over:

He uses phrases like “I continue to believe …”

    “As I’ve stated before …”

    “Let me clear …”

    “Make no mistake …”

I think he manipulates language in ways that make me feel very creepy.

How sad this farce has become. A regular tragic comedy. People began taking sides before they had any information or facts

A few weeks ago, there was a clear case of profiling in Dallas. A man was driving his wife to the hospital to visit her dying mother and ran a stop sign. An officer followed him to the hospital, was verbally abusive while the man just asked to the officer to write a ticket so he could go visit his mother-in-law before she died. Unfortunately, she breathed her last before he could say good-bye. The hospital security cameras caught the whole think on video.

Shortly before this incident, an officer stopped an ambulance in route to the hospital with a patient. The video shows he verbally and physically abusive.
the driver. There was a video recording the entire incident.

Obama did not call the principles in the cases and invite them for beer and they were obvious cases where some intervention might have changed some attitudes. He has invited Gates and Crowley to visit the White House, but his apology wasn’t an apology and it has left Crowley in an untenable situation. How can he refuse an invitation from the President?

On the other hand, if he accepts following the non-apology apology, he will appear to concede he is guilty of racial profiling. If he refuses, he will be crucified by the press for not trying to diffuse the situation.

I don’t believe Lynn Sweet was setting up a situation to entrap Obama. She was aware of his acquaintance with Gates, it was at the end of the presser and my guess is she was expecting Obama to say he didn’t have all the facts and couldn’t comment (which is what any one with any sense would have done). But Obama, given his own issues with his father and mother, could not leave it alone. So the farce is being written.

I hope the Cambridge Police Dept is strong enough to stand up and release the tapes of the 911 call and subsequent recording of the altercation. Then we’ll know if Crowley is an ass, Gates is an ass or they were both asses.

    • elise

Pls forgive the typos. Must be tired.

    • mountainaires

      I agree Elise.

I suspect that Gates is the ass. But, I’ll take the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I think Gates and Obama FEAR those tapes.

And, yes, Gates and Obama are continuing to foment this whole thing, even while saying “it’s over.”

Does anyone doubt that the two-step by Gates and Obama on the “invitation to have a beer at the White House” wasn’t a set-piece of image-casting?!

If you don’t see what they just did–to further intimidate and bully Sgt. Crowley–then you aren’t paying attention. Crowley HAS been put in an untenable position–at least that is the plan.

I hope Sgt. Crowley simply thanks the President for his “kind” invitation, and then says something like it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to meet with Gates.

Because Crowley has no idea whether or not Gates will sue the police dept. or will construct a slanderous documentary about Crowley. So, in my view, any legal advice would include the risks of appearing to be friendly to Gates.

Obama learned his hatred of America well. First through his Father, to his Mother to his Step-Father his Arab buddies, his Harvard/Occidental radical friends…then the icing? Reverend Wright and the Chicago crime machine.
It should have been evident to all that he simply hates this country and when he said he wanted to “change it, that is what he meant. The stimulus is reparations as is Obamacare. When that elated woman said ‘Obama is going to pay for my house and gas” what she MEANT to say is “THE TAXPAYERS are going to pay for my house, my car, my food, my health care and my existence.” (I have proof that government is buying welfare recipients new cars as admitted by a dealership owner)When I first started blogging more than a year ago, the black Obama supporters had no problems telling me this was about reparations. Their words “we will take your money, your houses, your jobs, your women..we will OWN you when Obama wins.” ACORN made sure he would win. This was a coup and because we are too trusting as a nation, we fell for it.

This issue just continues to piss me off and make me despise Obama more. Now, Obama and Gates are having a drink on Martha’s Vineyard. I am not surprised, but I am disgusted.

The negative reaction to Obama’s stunning presser comment that the police acted “stupidly,” alarmed his WH handlers, who probably informed Gates that it was hurting the president’s image, and to please STFU.

Gates suddenly wanted to call it “over,” when the “tapes” were surfaced as a shot across the bow from the Police.

Gates and Obama especially do NOT want those tapes released; I am quite certain that behind the scenes, the WH is strongly warning that they not be released by police. But, that isn’t any insurance that a journalist won’t get his/her hands on the tapes.

The White House and now Gates is saying, “it’s over. It’s time to move on.”

Spoken like a man who doesn’t want any more reporting on his shameful behavior, I’d say.

    http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D99LLQF00&show_article=1

Well, it’s not over. Gates and Obama smeared someone publicly, who was just doing his job, and they did it to further RACE-BAITING in this country! Gates hasn’t admitted his own culpability in his arrest, and he certainly hasn’t generated a “teachable moment.”

Let’s see the tapes, professor. Then we’ll know what the lesson really is here.

It ain’t over until it’s over: When all the facts are brought to light.

And, if anything, the eruption about Gates is a GOOD THING: The Health Care Reform bill should be delayed–so that the American people are not railroaded into something that we will regret.

  • http://firefox AnnieCollier

“I told the president that my principal regret was that all of the attention paid to his deeply supportive remarks during his press conference had distracted attention from his health care initiative,” Gates said. “I am pleased that he, too, is eager to use my experience as a teaching moment, and if meeting Sgt. Crowley for a beer with the President will further that end, then I would be happy to oblige.” My emphasis.

Thank you, Mr. Gates (surely not a real “professor”). What you have taught me is that Harvard hires, and Obama befriends, complete and utter egotistical assholes. I’d like to say that they are simply tone deaf but it’s deeper than that. They are throw backs to 40 years ago. They saw their cottage industry moment to make a living off racism and have not only continued to perpetuate it but have made it their MO ever since. They are the black equivalent of the KKK. Sickening and revolting. Not only will they learn nothing of consequence or value through any self examination from this little fiasco but they are corrupt to the point of being uninterested (as was GWB) and disparaging of self reflection. How else to explain this continued self-serving comment which only continues to deny, deny, deny and throw more fuel on the fire? In that, they both seem expert.

  • Docelder

Expect the press to dumpster dive on the cop. Also, expect the press to interview every officer who has taken the cops pro-bono class on racial profiling. This is no where near finished. I know I have said it before, we don’t know these cops. They may look like something to bet the house on… I wouldn’t. Obama may look the fool… I wouldn’t bet on that either. Just sayin. If the question could have been planted, the the event could have been planned and the dispatch of the particular cop could have been arranged as well… This may be both a convenient distraction as well as staged martyrdom for the PR-esident. Anybody with political futures needs to stay away from this like the plague.

  • WMCB

Al Sharpton’s lying ass is now on TV saying he never claimed the Gates incident was racial profiling. He’s walking it back BIGTIME, going on and on about how he is really only concerned about police abuse of power, whether black or white.

May I remind you of what Al was blabbing on TV the moment the news broke?

“I’ve heard of driving while black, and I’ve heard of shopping while black. But I’ve never heard of living in a home while black.”

Methinks someone has gotten word that those tapes don’t sound so good for the professor, and Obama’s polls are dropping, so they’d better STFU with the race-baiting.

    • jwrjr

Let’s create a new one. Sharpton, Ozero, and Gates are guilty of “being an a**hole while black”.

  • Babs

Judicial Watch has filed a MA Public Records Request already, so it doesn’t look like those tapes are going to be “lost” like all of Obama’s records from the Illinois Senate.

By the way, for all the police in MA with long memories, a MA police officer was killed by the Weather Underground back in the day, leaving a widow and I think it was 8 children. So another one of Obama’s best buddies already has a history in MA, and a not so glorious one at that.

I hope Officer Crowley passes on the beer. He can always say it would be inappropriate at this time with an investigation within the department still going on, and that’s the truth. (Even if the investigation at this time is really only Patrick and the mayor and their cronies figuring out how to block the release of the tapes.)

    • Tuppence411

I am sure some other agency filed a public records request long before Judical Watch. Cambridge only has ten business days to cough them up once the request is filed. We will hear the tapes soon enough. I wish Harvard could be legally compelled to release records! I wonder how much in “rent” the good Professor Gates pays to the University since Harvard owns “his” house? How much below fair market value is the rent (because that one damn expensive and highly sought after neighborhood!)? Does he get issued a 1099 and pay taxes on the housing benefit? He clearly doesn’t need to accept such a costly benefit, so why does he? Wouldn’t that money be better spent funding additional scholarships to minorities?

The first step is to stop Obama Care. Also, the Republicans must win both the New Jersey and Virginia Gubernatorial contests.

I feel so bad for saying this but how can black people be so selfish as still support this man by 90+%. He would be in the 40s if not for this fact. Yet another to add to the trend of Obama’s wonderful choices of friends…

-Michelle “White people don’t hang out with black people at Princeton waaaaah” Obama. (Nice thesis, reads like a 12 year old wrote).

    -William Ayers.

    -Reverend Wright.

    -Henry Louis Gates.

Hmmm. Can’t remember any normal friends of his. Can anyone else? And what does this dude have to be so damn bitter about? Going to private school in HI?

I went over to a link posted on HuffPo, a letter written in the Harvard school newspaper by Gates colleagues in the Dept. of African American Studies, supporting him of course, and the letters in reply from the kids at Harvard lead me to believe that Gates doesn’t have much support behind him in the student body. It’s at thecrimson.com, if one of you could post the link for the old lady. (Sorry!)

    Obama’s Accidental Gift on Race
    By Andrew Breitbart

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/07/27/obamas_accidental_gift_on_race_97637.html

Less than a month after being confirmed as the nation’s attorney General, Eric H. Holder Jr. called out the American people as “essentially a nation of cowards” for refusing to talk openly about race.

So, thank you, professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and President Obama, for starting the long-awaited national discussion on black and white identity – while averting our attention from the cockamamie scheme to nationalize health care.

And kudos to the professor and the president for choosing Sgt. James Crowley of the Cambridge Police Department as the representative of the Caucasian-American side of this difficult and much-needed historic debate.

Poetry was at work as the archetypal racist white cop who, according to the admittedly fact-challenged president, “stupidly” arrested his “friend.” Sgt. Crowley waged a swift and effective public relations campaign that quashed the racism meme that Mr. Gates was recklessly pushing.

Sgt. Crowley, as it happens, is the Cambridge police force’s hand-picked racial profiling expert and was selected by a former black police commissioner. He also performed CPR on black basketball star Reggie Lewis, whose widow praised the public servant for doing everything he could to save her husband. Sgt. Crowley’s own police department immediately jumped to his defense in a picture-perfect multiracial photo op and press conference.

Even though Mr. Gates and Sgt. Crowley are poised to put their individual grievances to rest – over a beer negotiated by the president of the United States – the scope of the problem that brought them international attention lingers, underscoring the need for continued robust public dialogue.

We’re finally talking, Mr. Holder and Mr. Obama. Why stop now?

Of course, the attorney general is essentially right in his assessment. Much of America is petrified to bring up race, especially in public forums – the media, in particular. But for exactly the opposite reasons Mr. Holder, the Obama administration and the brain trust of modern liberalism assert.

Americans, especially nonblacks, are deeply fearful that the dynamic is predicated on an un-American premise: presumed guilt. Innocence, under the extra-constitutional reign of political correctness, liberalism’s brand of soft Shariah law, must be proved ex post facto.

Think not? Ask the Duke lacrosse team, which had 88 of the school’s professors sign a petition that presumed their guilt before their side of the story was known. Even though the white athletes were exonerated and the liberal district attorney who pushed the case was dethroned, disbarred and disgraced, the professoriate that assigned guilt to its own students still refuses to apologize.

Those signatories constituted 90 percent of Duke’s African and African-American Studies Department, the subject-matter domain of Mr. Gates, Michael Eric Dyson, Cornel West and other tenure-wielding, highfalutin, iambic-pentameter-filibustering race baiters, and 60 percent of Duke’s women’s studies department, another hotbed of victimology posing as intellectualism.

While the media was front and center in preparing for the public executions of the three Duke lacrosse players, they scurried away when they were proved innocent. The Democratic Media Complex, in its pursuit of Orwellian hate-crime legislation, reparations and sundry non-ameliorative resolutions to America’s troubled racial past, pursues its victims with blood lust. But it cannot act in good faith to redeem those it has destroyed in countless rushes to judgment. (Richard Jewell, R.I.P.)

The mainstream media choose to flaunt story lines that make white America appear guilty of continued institutional racism, while black racism against whites is ignored as an acceptable disposition given our nation’s history. This double standard provides a game board on which the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can thrive in perpetuity and ensures racial progress is slowed.

And that is why the Case of Sergeant Crowley vs. Professor Gates is so important. As is expected from professional race baiters, Mr. Gates instigated a public brouhaha over race. And Mr. Obama, a man who attended the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s racist sermons for 20 years, used the bully pulpit to grant his friend a national platform to condemn a man for doing his job.

Sgt. Crowley, a proud and defiant public professional, played the moment perfectly and stopped his own assassination by media. Talk about a postmodern hero. Whether he likes it or not, Sgt. Crowley is a potent symbol of how the union has managed to become more perfect, a Rosa Parks of rush-to-judgment “reverse racism.”

Now that the facts of the case show that his friend the professor was the man doing the racial profiling, the president wants to end the discussion.

Now we see what the attorney general meant when he spoke of cowards.

Could it be something like this that has the man who never was is taking aim at law enforcement? And his minion whatever her face was called who spoke of returning soldiers as possible “domestic terrorists?

“The time is now near at hand which must probably determine, whether Americans are to be, Freemen, or Slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their Houses, and Farms, are to be pillaged and destroyed, and they consigned to a State of Wretchedness from which no human efforts will probably deliver them. The fate of unborn Millions will now depend, under God, on the Courage and Conduct of this army” – Gen. George Washington, to his troops before the battle of Long Island

A brilliant must-read from the Washington Times about the many rush-to-judgments against whites (Duke lacrosse players, Richard Jewell, etc) and the reverse racism of Gates and Obama.
