A.P. Is Wrong — and KARL ROVE’s Analyses Are SPOT ON! Obama is limping, wounded … cannot win in November

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM CLINTON CAMPAIGN:

The AP story is incorrect. Senator Clinton will not concede the nomination this evening.

(We know the source of this story, don’t we. It’s Barack Obama’s Chicago-corrupt machine trying to suppress voter turnout in South Dakota and Montana — they are freaking out at his HORRIBLE poll numbers. Obama and his GANG OF THUGS campaign staff will do ANYTHING to win. AND this team of THUGS has regularly used VOTER SUPPRESSION TRICKERY.) NOW KARL ROVE — BRILLIANT and spot-on analyses from Fox News last night:

YOU and I know that Barack Obama cannot with the general election.

The Democratic party is prepared — without THINKING THIS THROUGH CLEARLY — to give the nomination to a candidate who CANNOT WIN.

It is madness.

It is also utter stupidity.

THIS is why we’ve only had two Democratic presidents in — what — the last 40 years?!!!!

Because the STUPID Democratic party leaders consistently nominate a bunch of LOSERS.

  • motherinKY

The Party leadership is out of touch.

Make calls to S.Dakota & Montana TV/radio stations ASAP.
Make calls for Sen. Clinton-go to her website and sign-up.

When will Democrats realize Clinton can win in November? Obama will lose, and it will be the Obamabots’s fault. I also blame Donna Brazile and Howard Dean. They do not care about us.

I do think they are sincere. Still doesn’t change the fact they’re both wrong.

Fox is now reporting that the earlier story was incorrect. Hillay IS NOT conceding tonight.

The google news page makes it look like Hillary has 1 delegate and 10 popular votes from this election.

The MSM will pay a heavy price for this. They are now dangerous and useless to society and us bloggers in the alternative media have already seized control over information sharing. The MSM doesn’t realize it just yet but they will when Hillary becomes the next president.

Hillary is not conceding tonight! The MSM is spreading total bullshit today. Watch this video if you have not.

In the video Terry says Hillary and her staff will be on the phone with the SD’s the rest of the week making a strong case for Hillary.

More proof things are moving ahead positively for Hillary:

HUBdate: Election Day in South Dakota and Montana
    by Howard Wolfson, Communications Director
    6/3/2008 10:32:31 AM

Crowds in South Dakota: During the last day of campaigning in South Dakota, Hillary greeted voters across the state. “In Yankton hundreds turned out to see her. In Sioux Falls, campaign officials estimate 3,500 to 4,000 people attended the event at the W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds. Many stood outside listening to the speech on speakers.” One supporter said, “I’m really impressed she’s taken the time to listen to South Dakotans.” Read more.

Automatic Delegate Watch: Yesterday, Tompkins County Democratic Committee Chair and New York automatic delegate Irene Stein announced her support for Hillary Clinton. Louisiana Democratic State Party Chair and automatic delegate Chris Whittington also announced his support for Hillary Clinton yesterday saying: “There is no question that she is the strongest Democrat to go toe-to-toe with John McCain in a general election. It is our responsibility as automatic delegates to choose the candidate we believe best fit to beat Senator McCain. That candidate is Senator Clinton.”

An Absentee Ballot in SD: From her hospice bed six weeks ago, 88-year-old Florence Steen marked an absentee ballot for Clinton, fulfilling a life-long dream for a woman born in 1920, months before federal law guaranteed women the right to vote. When Steen died…her vote went with her…[Steen’s] dying wish will be multiplied many times in the official vote tally by people who intend to vote or have already filled out absentee ballots for Clinton, with Florence Steen in mind…The first of those votes was the most meaningful. It came from Steen’s husband…He decided to do something he hadn’t done in years: He voted — also by absentee ballot — for Clinton.” Read more.

Leading the Popular Vote: According to Real Clear Politics, Hillary’s popular vote lead over Sen. Obama has grown with her Puerto Rico victory. She has won 17,916,763 votes compared to 17,723,200 for Sen. Obama when every state that has already voted is included in the tally. Read more.

    And then there’s this:

    http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/senators_failed_to_reach_endor.php

Senators Failed To Reach Endorsement Decision; Privately Discussed Joint Ticket
    By Greg Sargent – June 3, 2008, 11:02AM

As I noted below, a bunch of uncommitted Senators met yesterday to discuss how or whether to go public with an endorsement, but Obama advisers don’t expect a group of them to endorse today.

Now there’s more confirmation of this. The Rocky Mountain News talked to Senator Ken Salazar about what went down at the meeting; the Senators reached no endorsement agreement, and furthermore…

“I could make the argument for either one of them,” Salazar said about Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton. “Many people can make the argument that maybe the best thing would be for both of them to be on the same ticket.”

Salazar said the possibility of a joint ticket was discussed at today’s meeting. “There was some of that discussion, but there’s no conclusion,” he said.

    And this new Gallup poll:

Obama up by 3, but Clinton up by 6.

I’m more cheered up by the news that the SDs are not obeying Pelosi than any other story of the day! LOL*

I am still so appalled by her notion that SDs make decision based on who has more delegates. How stupid is that? Why have SDs, then? That’s just nutty talk, coming from someone I’m suppose to listen to about other issues? According to her logic, all SDs should wait until the end, see whose ahead, and rubber-stamp the decision.

    Crazy talk.

The American Research Group survey of South Dakotans shows Clinton leading 60 percent to 34 percent among Democrats in the state. There have been few surveys of South Dakotans this year; the last poll was conducted two months ago and showed Obama with a 12-point lead, according to Real Clear Politics.

A new ARG poll of Montana voters shows Obama with a four point lead in Montana, beating Clinton 48-to-44 percent.

    A guide to Obama supporters

How to identify an Obama supporter: As you are navigating your daily business, you may come across Obama supporters. They have been known to attack (mostly verbal threats and ad hominem) unprovoked. Preferring thought over emotion and facts over slogans is something of a blasphemous crime to an Obama supporter. In addition, if you should form an opinion about Obama without his express permission, you may be accused of being a racist. The purpose of this guide is to help you identify Obama supporters before they get the chance to dampen your day.

It should be noted that there are several species of Obama supporters.

O’Zombies: With glazed eyes and vacant stares, these subdued types can generally be found online. Their speech consists of incoherent rehashes of Obama phrases and, “like” and “y’know”. After having surrendered most cognitive ability to be used as seen fit by the Obama campaign, they generally possess just barely enough to be able to upload a video to Youtube. However, some aren’t so lucky and eventually starve to death having forgotten how to eat. They are not particularly dangerous, often not even aware of your presence when you are standing next to one. Some have suggested that merely being near one or watching their videos can be detrimental to one’s IQ. Avoidance recommended.

Obamatons: Also known as obamabots. Ever since Lenin nurtured the first breeds of useful idiots, communists have continually strived to create better useful idiots – ones that were stronger, faster, more useful than the previous generation. The obamaton is one which has been upgraded to the predictability of a machine. The obamaton seeks out communications relevant to Obama on the internet then responds. There are only two known responses. If the obamaton detects a statement which is positive regarding Obama, the obamaton will respond with requests for money. If the obamaton detects a statement which is negative or even neutral regarding Obama, the obamaton will respond by shrieking “RACIST!” repeatedly. Obamatons are only found online. They are sometimes known as “trolls”. The fact that they have yet to have a spine installed prevents offline activity.

O’lattes: To understand an O’latte, you must put yourself in his shoes. An O’latte believes he’s better than everyone else. And while he enjoys sneering at poor people and chastizing those who dare to question his supreme intellect, he is somewhat depressed. “Why can’t the world be more like me?” he wonders. Then, like a ray of sunlight, Obama appears. “Hey, he thinks he’s better than everyone else just like me!” exclaims the O’latte. Finally, the O’latte finds hope, knowing he is no longer alone in his narcissism. O’lattes are not dangerous, but nevertheless extremely annoying.

Obombers: These are Obama’s enforcers. Brutish and mute, these not-so-gentle giants have been known to become physically aggressive. While their actions range from roughing up old women at rules commitees to blocking camera shots for Fox News, they invariably use force. Little is known what motivates them to serve Obama unquestioningly. Some speculate that Obama supplies them with a daily ration of gruel and they reward him with unfaltering loyalty. They are moderately dangerous.

Yeswecans: Hailing from the make-believe land of Yesweca, these Obama supporters live in a fantasy world. In that world, Obama can heal the sick, stop wars by waving his hand, fly, summon unicorns, and coat the landscape with Obama-rectal derived pixie dust. When they are suddenly torn from their parallel dimension and thrown into our world, (known as reality), they tend to exhibit wild mood swings and the negative behaviors which often accompany them. For the most part, they have a surreally optimistic view of Obama and bubble with enthusiasm. However, when confronted with Obama’s mortal enemies, facts and logic, they will lash out in defense of their deity. There have been many speculations as to the true nature of Yeswecans. Some opine that Yeswecans are best understood as cultists, (see: The Church of Obamism), while still others suggest the root to be a mental disorder, (see: Obamitis). Regardless of the cause, Yeswecans can be extremely dangerous and should be avoided whenever possible.

Obamelites: They’ve turned politics into a business and Obama is their cash cow. A number of super-delegates fit this mold. They generally cluster around Obama in a protective swarm and rarely consort with the “little” people. They are almost never seen in public but often on TV. Because of their rarity in public, they are not much of a threat in terms of individual controntation. But regarding the power they intend to wield as a bludgeon, they have great potential to damage America as a whole. In addition, they are known to betray former supporters/supportees on the turn of a dime, or, perhaps more accurately, in exchange for a dime. They should never be trusted.

Under normal circumstances, I would not assume that anyone reaches an opinion through a character flaw or extreme ignorance. But Obama supporters are an exception. Obama supporters continually slander and verbally bully those who dare to think differently than they. That is a clear indication of a character flaw. Obama supporters often know much less about their own candidate (not to mention history and geography) than the average person on the street that doesn’t even follow politics.

These fools are the face of your “new” Democratic Party.

    • HARP

Don`t forget their leader…. Super Obama… Able to leap from one lie to another in a single bound.

    • http://deleted AnninCa

One thing I figured out is that the party division is less about the candidates and more about contrary perspectives on most everything.

Given the same event, Hillary supporters see it this way. Obama supporters see it opposite.

There can be no meeting of the minds, since the minds obviously process information quite differently.

There’s no point in talking when that is the situation.

Obama will NOT win her supporters over. I suspect the depth of that problem he has is a lot worse than people know. I think it goes right down the core. I think he’s not going to make headway within any of her demographics, plus he’s going to lose NY due to the Jewish voters. I really do. I don’t think he’ll carry NY. He’ll carry CA. That’s about it for the big states.

I’m convinced he’s lost the blue-collar vote permanently. I am certain he’s lost the Clinton Dems. There goes a huge chunk. I’m convinced he cannot win over the Latinos. They now are secure in their distate for him.

Obama has just turned off voters in mass. His supporters no longer even sound like a group that anyone with a smattering of commonsense should pay the slightest bit of attention to. They are nuts, ugly, rude, and boorish. His AA supporters no longer have much sympathy from me. In the beginning, yes. But now that they are endorsing this black militant politician? I’m finished with believing that these voters are remotely fair-minded or concerned about any other group but their own. OK, but that’s self-serving and selfish to the max.

I know he’ll never win back the women supporters. They are gone.

I believe he honestly is going to have the youth vote if they remember to vote and the AA’s and a few pretentious upper-class whites.

      That’s it.

    • Michael

I find it amusing that you see Obama supporters as glazed-eye acolytes who prefer emotion over reason. And yet you still think Clinton has a chance of becoming President, and would rather see McCain get the job than Obama, despite the fact that — speaking from pure reason here — Obama and Clinton have virtually identical platforms (read the damn websites) and McCain’s is almost diametrically opposed to both of them.

You call yourself a Democrat, and, I would think, a progressive. And you speak of “Obama supporters” with words like ‘slander’ ‘bully’ and ‘ignorant.’ Yet in day after day after day of reading this site, and the fellow-travelling Hillary sites, I never, *ever* read anyone actually speaking about the issues. I never, *every* read anyone explaining on what actual issues basis they support Hillary over Obama. It’s all personality and emotion with you folks. 100%. It isn’t even about loving Hillary anymore (I like her a lot, and would have donated and worked for her if she’d won the nomination). It’s all about hating Obama. That’s what gets you out of bed in the morning; that’s what gets you to the computer; that’s what impels amusingly nasty little screeds like this one (which I’ll admit, gave me a chuckle). You hate Obama. Based on what, I have no idea.

What’s most odd to me is the relentless insistence, on all these sites, that Obama “cannot win.” You say this over and over and over, mostly to yourselves, despite the fact that virtually every single poll shows him either winning the electoral college or neck and neck with McCain. It’s blindingly obvious that demographic and cultural changes are all favoring the Democratic Party this year, and that either Obama or Clinton would be a favorite to defeat a very weak GOP candidate in McCain. Yet you folks keep reassuring yourselves that Obama “cannot win.” You never say “won’t win,” or “probably won’t win,” or “faces great obstacles,” or “shouldn’t win” — it’s always “cannot.” Which is, of course, utter bullshit; it’s way too early to have any idea how things will shake out in November.

In all, a very odd and vaguely nerve-wracking kind of group psychosis. By the end of the week Hillary will, for all intents and purposes, have withdrawn from the race and joined Obama’s team, probably as HHS Secretary, ready to make her place in history (for now) by leading the reformation of American health care. And the vast majority of her supporters will, like good Democrats, join together to give all those Republican scumbags the bum’s rush out of the White House and usher in a generation-long Democratic/progressive majority.

      What will you people do?

      • C. S.

What will People do? Keep trying to restore our Democratic/Republic form of government by closing the loopholes that allow both parties to manipulate our votes.

After all, we all know that political parties have no Constitutional standing and that state legislatures have the authority to decide how elections (and primaries) are run.

And, in the words of that snivelling idiot Dick Morris, whom I wholeheartedly agree with on this, “Obama is a candidate who can’t possibly win from a party that can’t lose and McCain is a candidate who can’t possibly lose from a party that can’t win.” We will gain a lot of Democratic seats this Fall, but McCain will be our next president if Obama is the nominee. Well, I beg to differ about Karl Rove. I don’t consider him brilliant just amoral. When I think of Karl Rove, for some reason I get the picture in my mind of a medieval street urchin digging through a garbage dump.

Also, Obama is charismatic??? I keep hearing people say that and write that. I don’t know what they are talking about. He is about as charismatic to me as Alfred E. Newman (but W has dibbs on him) or Howdy Doody. The media has coronated Obama for some strange reason. I suspect it’s more anti-Hillary than pro-Obama, although they are less likely to admit that than they are to proclaim tingling sensations all over their bodies when they hear Obama read from a teleprompter.

As for the nomination, as Hillary says, it’s not over until the votes are cast…at the convention. A lot could happen between now and then.

Mr Rove should just go back and spend more time with his family.

We don’t know why Mr. Young was murdered just days after admitting that he had a relationship with Obama. We don’t know why the Main Stream Media will not report on Larry Sinclair’s story of gay sex and drug use with Obama in November of 1999. Interesting side note: Senator Daschle via Newsmax, is saying McCain wanted to join the Democrats.

Here’s what’s interesting: If that’s true, doesn’t that make McCain less of a believer in right-wing ideology?

It seems to me if he was considering this he must have agreed with at least some Democratic viewpoints.

I find it ironic and it seems to make the case for Democrats thinking of voting for McCain stronger.

Could it have something to do with the fact that he failed his lie detector test?

Seriously, you Limbots certainly have the courage to believe just about anything.

I understand that LS technically passed the test, per the machine but the lie detector analyst ‘said’ he didn’t. Per LS he still got $20,000 for taking the test.

Obfuscator, why don’t you comment on the three dead gay men, Trinity church members. Huh, huh?

People watch the video again, listen close as you can to Rove!

Before you do, listen to hannity, he presses Bill Ayers association several times and Rove doesn’t even go there once, why is that?

Simple, a major smoking gun for the GOP if obama is the nominee is Obama’s communist and terrorist connections and associations!

America is fighting a war on terror and the Democratic Party is nominating a cadidate with deep, very deep terroist associations!

What is so wrong with this picture is simple, a wife who is a hater, a candidate who is a communist terrorist associate, but the GOP has more, sionce Obama’s association is bred within him sing an early age, this isn’t a recent or 20 year thing with Obama, it is a bred into his DNA and being thing!

GOP will stump that No haters or communists in the White House and the Democratic Party is wanting to do just that!

You can bet that Axelrod and the Obama campaign released that AP story – VOTER SUPPRESSION TACTICS IN SOUTH DAKOTA AND MONTANA

They know the polls do no look good – OMG Chicago politics – it is dirt.

  • gurk

This voter suppression conspiracy makes less than zero sense. The first AP story had Clinton sources. Obama has nothing to gain from planting a story, it would not be worth it in any way b/c it doesn’t matter what happens in Montana or South Dakota.

Also, I think it would only be honorable for everyone on this site spreading rumors about a “whitey” video, to apologize in the end when it becomes clear that she’s saying “Why’d he…”

    • http://deleted AnninCa

It’s just interpretation. She will properly frame this tonight for her supporters.

Hillary is a very thoughtful and responsible politician. She will not play head games with voters.

She’ll lay out the reality. That’s only right and fair to do. If there is a movement to install her, frankly, it must be from outside of her campaign.

It’s going to have to be a true grass roots rebellion against the party.

That’s pretty radical stuff, but this could be the year we see just that.

Thank you for stating one of the basic problems with Obama. He only cares about voters/states who can help him meet his objective. That’s why he only spent 1/2 day campaigning in Puerto Rico. They can’t vote in the GE, so what good are they to him?

The AP has taken down their original story and replaced it with this headline — Concession Rumors Surround Clinton Campaign.
    The lead paragraph states:
Conflicting reports surround the presidential campaign of Hillary Rodham Clinton. The Associated Press reports that, after tonight’s primaries, Clinton will concede that Democratic rival Barack Obama has enough delegates to secure the nomination. But other news organizations quote campaign officials who dispute talk of any concession.

Why does the Obama camp keep saying they will have the delegates (now at 38.5 needed) by this week and he will have a lock on the nomination?

If Hillary has a chance to change things and be the choice , please someone tell me she won’t take Obama as VP, I personally would feel less secure with her
    security if this happens.

Please Hillary, don’t leave the campainge! Your needed by our country.

Superdelegates today have not voted. Superdelegates in AUGUST actually vote. Committed delegates switch sides, do they not? They won’t be able to switch sides when they vote. In. August. That’s. A. Long. Way. Off.

    • Mel

First off, Obama needs 360 pledged delegates right now for the nomination to declare himself the nominee, three-hundred and sixty pledged delegates not 38.5!

Super Delegates do not count until August at the convention, saying something as to Super Delegate counts is a non-fact until they actually vote and are locked in, which doesn’t happen tonight, only in August!

Bob Beckel says Bombshell is heading Michele Obama’s way. (Vanity)
    Fox & FRiends ^ | 05/03/08 | mware

Posted on Tuesday, June 03, 2008 7:02:24 AM by mware

If any of you had the opportunity to watch Fox & FRiends this morning, you probably saw Bob Beckel being interviewed about todays political events.

Towards the end of the interview he announced to the Fox & FRiends hosts that he has been told by numerous people,(enough and in a way that convinced him) that a bombshell will be dropping tomorrow about Michele Obama.

The Friends turned white and asked what it might be…was it worse than a college thesis? Bob said—Oh yes, in a BIG way. He said that the Repubs were behind it and it was dumb because it meant that Mrs. Clinton would be the nominee.

So the die is cast, IMHO Hillary will suspend her campaign within the next 24 hours and then the bomb will drop, leaving the Republics to take the blame.

Beckel said that this will make Hillary the candidate. Whatever is on that tape (if it is a tape)it must be a beaut.

Hillary won’t suspend. That’s an official designation.

She WILL frame the end of the nomination.

      I predict something like this:

I have the popular vote lead. Obama has reached a promised delegate threshold lead. However, some of his lead is based upon non-binding promises.

It’s been a wonderful time for me. I’ve enjoyed every minute. Dust-ups happen. We’ll be unified.

      See you in Denver.

In short, she’ll not suspend. She’ll not endorse. She will acknowledge. And she’ll leave the door open for SDs to switch back.

Honestly, this is what she should do.

  • morgan

      christopher christopher’s diary :: ::
I heard on the radio last week a very good point: she really doesn’t wan’t Barack Obama to win. She wants McCain to win then she can be the candidate in 2012 and not Obama who would most likely be the nominee if he won this year. She doesn’t care about the party and she doesn’t care about the people of America.

People in Florida and Michigan say she cares about their votes. Yeah, only since they voted for her. She doesn’t care about their votes counting unless it is for her. She says its not fair for the people in Florida and Michigan. Well how do you think the rest of the people in the rest of the 48 states who followed the rules. And by the way, she originally supported the proposition to rid all delegates from those states. Every way you look at it. She is just being a bitch who won’t accept that she is done for.

I wast reading some blogs on Hillary’s page and people their now want Hillary as a write in candidate. Wow, good luck with that one. Here supporters need to learn to pull out. Clearly she needs to shut the hell up and let the real candidate run against McCain. I used to be a supporter of Hillary CLinton because I though she cared for people more. CLearly I was wrong. She cares about one person and one person only, herself.

Oh, and she also needs to stop with this popular vote shit. She clearly did not win the popular vote and she can kiss my ass. Nice math Hillary. Time to learn how to add. Even Bush can do that.

Time to tell that Bitch Hillary Clinton to quit. That’s my rant, I hope I am not the only one who shares these views in this country.

I am so done with some of you who worry over what Daily KOS bloggers say or Huffington Post.

They are so out there in lala land, it’s wild.

They have, of course, missed the mark. That’s because they have no real sense of Americans. They are the computer rebels.

Real people wanted to vote for this charismatic AA guy. But, to be blunt, they thought he was “Tiger Woods.” They aren’t going to vote for some slick-talking AA militant! LOL*

        That was a complete fantasy.

The fact that Pelosi, Kennedy, etc., thought they could run this guy past voters frankly tells just why their approval rating is lower than the most unpopular president in history. They demean American voters with their endorsement.

They are power-hungry. They are without a bone of authenticity.

They need to be beaten soundly.

That is the gift I hope to pass along to my child. Democracy doesn’t endorse greed, even if it comes wrapped in a package of liberalism.

    FROM YAHOO NEWS:

    Opinion

    Obama’s Pyrrhic Michigan Victory

    Thurlow Weed
    Mon Jun 2, 2008

Yesterday’s DNC decision to award Obama delegates in Michigan even though he was not on the ballot surely seemed plausible to Democratic leaders trying to find a way out of their dilemma. The idea of splitting the baby in Michigan and Florida, seating the delegates while cutting their voting strength, was always a natural one, and in and of itself will cause little problem.

But the Michigan decision is a jaw dropper. By setting aside election results to Hillary’s disadvantage, the DNC has saddled its likely nominee with an enraged opponent who now has every incentive to carry the fight through the summertime. Simultaneously, it has told Michigan voters that the DNC – and by extension, its nominee, Obama – is willing to set aside election results it does not like. That cannot have a positive effect on Michigan swing voters – and Obama needs to carry Michigan in the fall to have any shot at victory.

The Clintons’ unwillingness to accept defeat is legendary. Yet the DNC has thrown sand in the face of a candidate who is already claiming sexism underlies the opposition to her campaign. Never underestimate the fury of a woman scorned, the adage goes.

Now she can stay in the race with yet another rationale for her candidacy – she is fighting for democratic principles. And her working class voters in Michigan will hear that message.

This decision violates a cardinal rule of warfare first promulgated by the Chinese strategist Sun Tzu in his classic The Art of War – always give your enemy the opportunity to retreat. The corollary to a political campaign is that one must always give one’s opponent the opportunity to bow out gracefully. Manipulating the rules to ensure Hillary cannot possibly win does not give her that opportunity, and given the psychology of the individual in question, virtually ensures a continued battle.

In Obama’s favorite game, basketball, trash talk and demonstrating your dominance by dunking the ball over your opponent is expected. Employing these tactics in politics, particularly intra-party politics, is not very good sense.

It is particularly poor sense given that Obama was going to win the nomination anyway because the clear sense of the superdelegates is to back Obama and end the fight. This decision was as unnecessary as it is inflammatory.

It is exhibits even poorer sense because Obama is unlikely to win a close general election without Michigan.

Look at the map. If McCain keeps the Bush states, he wins. Florida looks like a lock for McCain for many reasons, which make Ohio, Virginia, Missouri, and the Rocky Mountain states the keys for Obama. Of those, even now McCain generally leads in the first three (he is behind in the Real Clear Politics Ohio poll average only on the strength of one poll which frankly I don’t believe – Obama cannot be ahead by 9 in Ohio, a GOP leaning swing state, and by only 1-2 nationwide) and the demographics of those states suggest he is likely to win them so long as McCain keeps his national popular vote percentage in the 48-49 range, which the polls suggest he can. Obama then wins if he can take the Rocky Mountain states (Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico) where the polls now show him ahead, plus hold New Hampshire and take Iowa. This is all plausible – here the demographics or state effects all favor Obama (except New Hampshire, which seems even or slightly favors McCain). But note this assumes he holds the swing states of Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Recent polls show Obama leading in three of those four. But McCain leads in all three of the most recent Michigan polls. Any guess what might be the reason? Any guess as to whether the swing working class whites Obama needs to carry Michigan will be more likely to back him after yesterday’s vote?

The depth of Obama’s Michigan problem becomes even clearer when one looks at electoral history. Michigan and Pennsylvania are the Bobbsie twins of American politics. Both states were between 1.5 and 2 points less Republican in each of the last three presidential elections. They are demographically similar, with large working class populations who provide the crucial margins for Democratic Presidential candidates. In fact, the last time these states voted for different Presidential candidates when there was not a Michigan native (Ford in 1976) on the ticket was 1940.

Yet today, Obama leads in PA by an average of 5.8 percent while trailing in Michigan. One does not need to look far to ascertain why.

This ill-advised decision should hearten McCain backers everywhere. Come November, they might look to May 31 as the day their candidate locked up the election.

so what is the deal with Fox news still promoting false stories that Hillary is leaving the race today???

  • Hillary the President

This might be off-topic, but …

I feel Obama will do anything to get nominated and to be president because he is fighting for his political life. He needs to send a signal to Rezko NOT to make any deal, by self-appointing the presumed nominee and president himself by using all forces. If Rezko makes deals to talk about everything about what he knows, guess what whose name would be coming up: Obama.

Obama is not running for the change but for saving himself.

I do not post there and will not spar with them there but I will expose their slams on Hillary and anyone else who does not vote for OBAMA/MARXIST.

    NO OBAMA/MARXIST
    HILLARY OR MCCAIN 2008

Bill Maher also conceded that Hillary was the best one out there (the most qualified) and he still backed Obama because it was the PC thing to do in within the Hollywood gang. Doing the politically correct thing by supporting the first viable AA candidate was more important to Mr. “Politically Incorrect” than taking the most qualified candidate.

Very telling. And no, the is nothing racist about this post.

But, Jessie, Christopher writes like a frustrated slow teenage boy, he has no original thought, an inability to think or understand complex relationships, a very predictable flat affect that expresses itself through and by a very limited vocabulary.

And even those capable of using the 50 cent word, like Bill Kristol, say, have nothing to say, no ideas, at all, the air in a balloon, only defined by it’s surroundings, like most empty propaganda from talentless men.

So, as I understand it, John Kerry, Ed Koch and Tom Dashitall are all saying McCain is liberal enough for Hillary’s supporters to vote for? I’m good with it too if she gets screwed by the Democratic party. After Dem for a Day, Rep for a Day looks pretty good to me!

  • PamFlorida

Even with the Uncommited MI. delegates being given to BO, the PLEDGED delegate count has him ahead by only 117. After today’s primaries, that number could be less that 100 PLEDGED delegate difference between them. SD votes don’t go on the official record until the convention-after at least the first round of voting fails to produce a nominee with the majic number of delegates.

The guy that talks about Iowa is a non-issue. Obama was always leading in Iowa. Iowa and Colorado are the only two places Obama does better where it’s close between Dem and GOP, but this has been true all along. It’s not a new development and was already factored into Rove’s argument. Hillary does have a huge lead in the electoral college and is winning right now. And it isn’t like other years because there are too many states where Obama simply cannot compete in November and Hillary can. Places like WV, KY, NV, FL & AR.

Here’s my analysis from May 26. If I were to do one today, nothing would change much except for Obama’s numbers getting more troubling overall and Hillary’s improving.

Then the Kos hate site will call on all of us to unify around the pony. Are they that blind that they believe we will rally around Mr. Obama (The Empty Suit) after all that has transpired?

    A Father/Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of ‘the redistribution of wealth.’

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She did not even have time for a boyfriend, and did not really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, ‘How is your friend Audrey doing?’

She replied, ‘Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s too hung over.’

Her wise father asked his daughter, ‘Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.’

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, ‘That wouldn’t be fair! I have worked hard for my grades! I have invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!’

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, ‘welcome to the Republican Party.???

Please contact cnn, in this case cnn.com and tell them their (endless) biased, unprofessional, unethical reporting is not going to be accepted.

the brief story and link to cnn here: cnn bias reporting

please take a moment and send them a statement that you don’t appreciate their ridiculous bias in headlines!

Gerard, people have replied further up. Basically, don’t stress. This stuff has been tried before this year. You cannot suppress the vote. People will still come out and this is the last 2 primaries. MT and SD are finally in the spotlight and their peoples will be heard.

Radio Wars…or is that Radio Whores?

I got radio whiplash this morning from competing “auras”…

Usually I listen to the BBC World Service or Radio Australia when I get up, but the reception wasn’t as good as usual today. So, I skipped the radio until I had to go to the dentist.

My oldies station was going to the news as I took off. They carry “ABC Now,” one of the most uninformative, chatty, gossipy, waste of time “news” breaks I have ever encountered, and the first thing out of the dulcet-toned “newsreader” was:

“Barack Obama woke up feeling good today. He’s (sic) in reach of gaining the Democratic presidential nominee. Primaries in South Dakota and Montana…”

    MORE

  • Valerie

Can’t Clinton sue AP and the other news agencies?? For god’s sake – they have proven to be positively inept, incompetent, incomplete, indeed useless….

  • jen

Murdoch and Sam Zell went on to the AP board of execs right in time to influence election news… April 14 2008

    HuffPo

In case you forgot… Murdoch’s NY Post and London Times endorsed …Barack Obama. (and his daughter threw a huge fundraiser for O!)

Sam Zell’s Tribune company newspapers endorsed… Barack Obama.

And Zell is a longtime Clinton hater who has called Hillary a C-word in public.

The DNC knows she would win. They’re deliberately pushing B.O. on their members…US.

I’m beginning to wonder if the DNC is just a branch of the RNC. Seems like they’re committed to making sure there’s going to be a Republican in the White House, even if it is Bush, or anyone else like him. What’d they do, get a loan or something from the RNC that makes them beholden to them?

i also noted he said whoever is playing this is very smart with the word moving out to various movers and shakers in a way that makes them believe that this is so and it is very dangerous for obama. makes sense to me! and being a curious person i have to wonder who? i don’t expect larry to share that but i do wonder.

  • glennmcgahhee

It will be interesting if the supers don’t bow to Obama tonight. That will be very telling. If you watched McCain’s speech to AIPAC, it was spot on. He left Obama in the dust. If this becomes the McCain campaign’s narrative against Obama, he will not even come close. I was moved by McCain’s speech and I’m not Jewish.

I am not proud to be a democrat. To think that a person like Obama could be a senator is enough to make me puke. The news media throwing a presidential election is more than we true democrats can take. We need to do something and fast. It must be against the law. God help us. Can we get Howard Dean out now? Is there any lawyers who can help us do that? We need someone with morals to step in and clean up the DNC before this election is resolved one way or the other. Hillary 08.

Larry you have problems with your server again. I am having a terrible time posting. The obama idiots. The FCC must be able to do something about this.

  • Dora Ratquila

Years – and perhaps even months – from now when every historian – and political analyst-wannabe will give his/her take on this very interesting nomination process in the Democratic Party, you Larry will occupy a special place of prominence. Along with Taylor Marsh (plus Alegre’s and a few others), you dared to exercise your God-given right to be audacious and confronted the senseless B.S. that has (once again) engulfed this party.

I look forward to our candidate’s speech later tonight plus the Republicans’ gift that will be unwrapped by tomorrow.

I so loathe the media for making it sound like the Wright candidate had such overwhelming lead in both delegate count and popular vote (plus wins in the do-or-die battleground states) that his selection – nay, coronation – was totally beyond dispute to a sane and logical thinking adult.

But I remain a person of faith and I know that “Vox populi, vox Dei” – and it will count for something. If these opportunistic political politicians will not acknowledge this basic principle, then something will.

Charge on, Hillary! We will never abandon you.

Oh, be careful. They set her up big time in Indiana. When she won by a smidge, it was viewed as a loss.

    ***

I live in Indiana; the results didn’t come in until WAY LATE (early?) the next morning BECAUSE of LAKE COUNTY – Gary, IN (85% black pop. and NEXT DOOR TO CHICAGO, IL). The Gary/Chicago area is ripe with political corruption, so a lot of people figure the Gary area was out ‘digging up’ extra votes for Obama once they realized Clinton had been running SO FAR AHEAD, up until the last 30 mins or so. I myself wonder if they weren’t out looking for more votes AFTER the polls closed (just my thoughts). If you remember, Obama was SUPPOSED to win Indiana – but didn’t, of course. LOL! How convenient that the media and his ‘followers’ left OUT the part that Obama was SUPPOSED to win it – the JERKS!
